Two Easy Wash Day Routines You Can Try For Your Long Natural Hair

hqdefault (5)For those of you with long, natural hair, this is for you. I’m going to go ahead and say that these regimens can work for medium and possibly short hair as well. These regimens may even work for relaxed hair, too. You never know until you try it out.

We all know that wash day for many of us vary from head to head. Some are similar to one another except for a extra steps added and even on the same head your regimen will change as your hair grows.

It is all about finding what works for you. Even though wash day is a very personal thing it still helps to see a few routines from fellow naturals to see if we can garner a few tips here and there. We have two that we thought you might learn a thing or two from. Lets get started:

Routine # 1:

Start off with dirty hair. Choose a conditioner of your choice and apply it section by section while you do some moderate finger detangling. Continue this all over your head until all sections are covered.

Remember, the smaller your sections, the better especially when trying to do a thorough detangling. Now, it’s time to wash, putting one section under the water at a time, take a wide tooth comb* and start detangling at the ends. After that, just wet the entire section under the shower head.

Get your shampoo next. Shampoo focusing on your scalp and then the hair. Thoroughly exfoliate your scalp with the pads of your fingertips. Next, detangle that section again while smoothing your hair in a downward motion. Clip the section up and out of the way, and repeat the process. Check out the visual:

Routine # 2:

This regimen is simple. Basically, you just shampoo and condition twice while your hair is in braids or twists. This helps you to reach the scalp and avoids tangles.

After you do that, take each braid down and clamp or bantu knot them away. Grab your blow dryer*, take down one section and dry it. After it’s dry braid it up. In the morning you can either wear your braids as a protective style or you can pull out your braids for a sexy braid out. Check out the visual:
