For those of us who are hardcore protective stylers, we all have this same dilemma from time to time: how can we change it up? I get it, you’ve tried and wore just about every protective style out there: buns, twist and braid extensions*, marley styles, etc. and just want something new. Well how about this for new: The French Roll Bun.

Yes, I know what you guys may be saying:“But Danni, isn’t that the same as any regular ole’ protective style?” Well not quite. Here, YouTuber oneLady Tee shows us how she achieve this awesome combo of two classic protective styles, the Bun and French Roll, and merge them into one beautiful, easy, and elegant updo.

Items Used  To Achieve This Hairstyle

Water and Apple Cider Vinegar* Mix – To smooth down front of hair in place of gel. If this mixture does not provide enough hold, then you can use any holding agent that you want to use, such as a nice gel.

Olive Oil*– To add shine and smooth the hair. You can also use any other oil that fits your fancy.

Bobby Pins- To hold French Roll and Bun in place.

Foam Stuffer– To add volume to your french roll. You do not necessarily have to use the foam stuffer, but if you have hair that is a bit low in density, it might help you in achieving a more voluminous updo.

Length Needed To Achieve This Style

This style works best on hair that is medium length and longer. If you have shorter hair, you can try to suit it to your hairs’ current length This style is done on stretched hair which you can achieve through many stretching methods such as Bantu Knots, Braids, Twists, etc. Those with transitioning and relaxed hair can also rock this style as well.
