The Braided Pompadour Updo On Natural Hair

hqdefault (2)So I think that it I can safely say that the pompadour is definitely apart of our natural hairstyle repertoire, am I right?  I mean when Janelle Monae came on the scene with her signature pompadour hairstyle, it became one of those hairstyles that you had to try at least once throughout your natural hair journey.

While there are many beautiful variations on the pompadour hairstyle, this one has got to be one of  my favorites. Below, Youtuber Jae Davis, shows us how she achieves her beautiful Braided Pompadour.

Items Used  To Achieve This Hairstyle

Hollywood Beauty Olive* Creme Hairdress– To moisturize hair. You can also choose  use any other moisturizer that fits your fancy.

ORS Edge Control– To lay down your edges for a smoother finish. You can also use any other holding agent or edge paste that works well for you.

Medium to Large Hair Clips– To section hair for easier styling.

Elastic Ponytail Holders– To help hold pompadour bun in place

Bobby Pins*– To hold different sections of the pompadour in place.

Small Tooth Comb*– To help make clean parts.

2-3 Packs of Marley Hair– Although Jae Davis does not mention what kind or how many packs of extension hair she uses, it will be safe to say that she uses hair that is similar to that of Marley Hair extensions*. You can use any color that you use. Get fancy and try a feisty red or spicy brown to experiment with different colors that you may not usually try with your own hair!

Length Needed To Achieve This Style

Since Marley extension hair is incorporated into this style, anyone with anyone can easily achieve this hairstyle. This style is done on stretched hair, which you can easily achieve through many stretching methods via banding, braids, bantu knots, African threading, etc.  Those with transitioning and relaxed hair can work this style as well.
