Hair Hack: Finger Coils with a Denman Brush [Must Watch]

finger coilsConfession: in my two years of being natural, I still haven’t tried a full head of finger coils. The thought of sitting down for hours trying to individually coil small sections of my hair just gives me a headache.

If you’re like me, you may want to do finger coils but you feel the struggle! Luckily, this really cool tutorial can help. Here’s how to achieve finger coils with a Denman brush.

What You Need:

Spray bottle with water

Hair milk or leave in conditioner*

Styling gel

Denman brush*

What to Do:

This style should be done on freshly washed and conditioned hair. Your hair should be soaking wet, so use the spray bottle on each section if it seems like your hair is drying out.

1. Add leave in conditioner* and work it through a section of hair. Create a smaller section and add more water via the spray bottle. Apply gel to your hair, concentrating on the roots so they don’t get puffy or frizzy.

2. Use the Denman brush* to gently brush through and make sure hair is smooth. Place the brush near your roots, turn it slowly, and begin to spiral your hair all the way down. Make sure to keep the roots tight (Not too tight!) and spin the brush in a circular motion.

3. Repeat over your entire head until finished. Air dry or sit under a dryer to set the style. You can use a blow dryer* on cool to help add volume and bounce to the coils. Separate gently with your fingers, and you’re done!

I think that this is a really great idea for ladies who cannot do finger coils. It also allows us to get great definition with larger sections of hair. The video shows what to do a little better:
