You take pride in your hair extensions*, I know because I do! We all want the best of the best even within a certain budget.

Whether you are buying virgin hair or processed hair extensions, there are certain things you should pay attention to before purchasing.

If you have the money to blow on the best hair, by all means, go for that! If you are sticking to a budget, there are reasonable priced hair brands that actually can look good and last.

I recently had the privilege of having my video content sponsored by a hair company out of Atlanta, Georgia. The company wanted an honest review and opinion of their kinky-curly hair extensions*.

I requested two 12 inch Brazilian Kinky* Curly Hair and one 10 inch Brazilian Kinky* Curly Hair. While waiting for the arrival of the hair bundles, I did my research on the brand which is my first recommended step before you purchase hair. My research gave me a heavy insight and great tips on what to look for when picking and choosing hair extensions*. Here are 3 more suggestions you should consider when choosing hair extensions*:

1. Where to research the brand before buying

My first source is YouTube. Many hair gurus and youtubers have most likely tried the brand. If you just simply type in the search bar the name of the hair, many hair review videos will come up.

You have to know what you are getting yourself into before purchasing. For example, if you hear a lot of complaints about shedding and if shedding bothers you, it’s probably not a good idea to purchase it.

Researching hair brands would give me insight on how the hair would look on me, if it shed or not, and the general lifespan of the hair.

2. Pay attention to the details of the hair.

If you are not shopping online for hair, but going physically to buy your hair, ask permission to open the hair pack and examine it.

Some beauty supply places will be more than happy to allow close up examination unless there is a mannequin head with the exact hair on it, then you can examine it there.

3. Check its quality.

To know if you should ever purchase that brand again, give it a test. Most stylists suggest that if you want to find out if the hair is real human hair or unprocessed hair, put a flat iron* to it.

If it smells like it is burning, then you are probably dealing with a mixture, not 100% human hair. My test of so called human curly hair is to literally tangle it and frizz it up, and then add water to see if the curls would come back. If the curls came back better than ever then I know I have great hair.
