Hi everyone - this is rachel with rachel's wig reform. Today, i'm going to do a video for you and show you how i'm going to put this wig into a messy bun. Let'S talk about the wig first, this is catherine by jon renau in the color 12fs8. Also known as shaded praline now, this cap is more of your basic cap. It only has a lace front that only goes back to about right here and then the top of it is your basic cap, which also means you're gon na have more of that permatease up at the top, and that's why i like this wig for pulling it Back because it gives you that little bit of lift at the top and then plus a wig like this when you're when you're pulling it back and it's you know securing it in rubber bands, it can start to do damage to the wig. So that's why i like using a wig like katherine because she's at a lower price point to do these fun little. You know messy buns, so let's go ahead and i'm going to show you how i do it. I am going to turn around eventually, but i'm going to use this as my my mirror first, and i'm basically going to get her pulled back and pulling back this wig, because she's curly can be a little a little trickier because she can get snarlier as you're Pulling her as you're pulling her back, so you just kind of have to make sure you got your wide tooth comb and just kind of gently gently. Do it now what i'm going to do with her is now that i got this side pulled back, i'm going to take one of these clips and just secure secure that then i'm going to go ahead and do the other side here and then i like how Katherine has some face framing layers to go around the face that are not too long, she's a little snarly today and i'm not sure why, but whatever okay. So now i got both sides back, so i'm going to take that clip out and secure them together, and i can come back up in here later and pull some more of those um shorter face framing layers around so now. Let me get her into the ponytail here and then i'm going to turn around for you, and hopefully you can see a good visual of it. I i'd like to bring her up just a little bit. I don't like it to be sitting too low, but that's all a perfect personal preference. Let me just get her here, okay, so then, what i'm gon na do is i'm gon na take my rubber band and i'm going to wrap it around the ponytail twice. Okay, then, what i'm going to do is when i wrap it around the third time i'm going to pull the ponytail through, but i'm going to leave about that much of the ponytail on the other side of the rubber band. I'M not going to pull that all the way through so take it, and this is where i'm going to let that rubber band close. So you can see where i have this part of the hair out. I want to pull that through just a little bit more, but i don't want to pull it all the way through. Okay, let me see, of course, i don't have a mirror to do this, like i usually do. Okay, so now that i have that um at the bottom, where there's that little bit sticking out, i'm gon na take that and just start to bring it up along the back side and just kind of spread that out, because it will get a little thick in Some spots based on how it gets pulled through the rubber band and you can reach down and pull it so that it's a little shorter too, so i'm just reaching in and bringing a little more through okay. So now what i'm going to do is i'm going to take this bun and i'm going to start just messing it up and just again, i'm doing this completely blindsided. I hope i was not so close to you um. I don't know what it is, but i feel like this little bathroom of mine is getting smaller or i'm having hot flashes. I don't know what it is, but it just it's getting crazy in here. So that is what i do and i just let it get messy. That'S the key word: let it let it get messy! Then i will come down around here and where you might think it looks a little wiggy just kind of pull on that a little bit and bring those hairs down. So can you see the difference there just by pulling that down and then that's what these little pieces down in here do too? Is they kind of hide that hairline, but you can reach in and pull those pieces down a little bit more too. I'M just going to pull on that again: oh geez, i hope um it's turning out, because i can't see what i'm doing the other thing that i do around the ear tab. I'M just going to pull this out of the way. Is i just kind of get this hair messy around there um just kind of like exactly what i did back here, just kind of pull those little pieces down around that ear tab just so it gets again messy. Then you put this hair back here and then you can always like add a little piece behind the ear. If you wanted to um when i did this on vacation, i put more of it behind my ear because it got windy out and then i actually because it was so windy down by by the beach. I took just a bobby pin and i held that in right there just so, i didn't have much hair like blowing in my face, but again it's all a preference as to how much hair you want to have left out then over here on this side, i'm Going to do the same thing, i'm just going to kind of pull some of those wispy pieces down in here and then just let that piece blend in and then, if i play with this enough, some more of those smaller pieces will start to fall down too. And then the other thing that i do is right here in in the back. I will hold the rubber band and hold the bun, and then i'm going to kind of just pull some of this out and get a little bit of like a lift in there. So that it's not um tight down to my head and then i'll again, i'm holding the rubber band or the bun, and now i'm just kind of pulling on this just a little tiny bit and just kind of bringing that hair and getting it a little. A little messier, the whole key here is: it's called a messy bun for a reason. So let those little pieces kind of get get crazy on you, okay and any of the pieces down around here you can, you can play and work with them. However, you want, but that is how i do a quick little messy, bun and honestly i'd wear my hair like this, for a wedding. If you wanted like a quick, updo um, but you didn't have a stylist who could do it and you weren't really sure what to do um. This is a quick little tiny trick. You could then like pull this back and put in some fancier um clips or bobby pins with some bling on them. The other thing you can do is i have this little scrunchie. You could wrap this around the the bun to kind of give it just another. Little look um a little detail to it. I have some of these clips like this. You could take that and pull it. You know and put it into your hair here and clip it for a fancier occasion, or this could just be a very simple everyday casual. Look okay, so that is how i do my messy buns again, i'm using catherine by jon renau into the color shaded praline. I like the wigs that have the more permatease on the top so that it gives it just sort of that extra little lift where most stylists would kind of go in and back comb it up there before they pulled it back into the bun. So i hope this helps and good luck with your messy buns. If you have not that sounded weird, but if you have not subscribed to my channel yet, please do so and make sure you turn on notifications.
