Sure my experience is being recruited by snail mail, but I'm not about to let the mailman age. Shame me: do you realize I just want to drop you a note and wish you a great summer mostly. I wanted to personally offer you a full scholarship to Auburn. So I'm taking my talents North to Happy Valley in Pennsylvania. Ever since I began pursuing my graduate degree in football studies, I've walked on to a lot of college campuses, but I haven't had the true walk-on experience. Until now, I'm at Penn State University AKA walk on you, coach Franklin, Eli. What'S going on man good to see you? What brings you to Happy Valley? You know coach, I'm here to learn everything I can about Walk-Ons. We call them run-ons here just trying to emphasize. There'S there's no walking part of this process. You know that's true, but you know there is running that looks like walking. You know what I mean you've seen Peyton play yeah. I'Ve seen you play too see that very, very they're playing in for a touchdown. He said he wasn't an athlete and how do you think guys decide that they want to walk on knowing that they're not guaranteed a scholarship, they may never even get to dress for a game, yet they want to come. You know try out and try to make the team. You know it's kind of a mix. You got some young men that grew up in the state of Pennsylvania that always wanted to come here. This is their dream and some just really want the you know the challenge of playing major college football. How do you find your Walk-Ons here at Penn State? We have a tryout process, which we do twice a year once in the fall which happens to be today and once in the spring, you know coach to truly understand the walk-on experience. I think I need to try out. We can give it a try, but I worry you'd be a little bit of a distraction. Let me handle that if I was going to blend in as a college student, I needed to look the part, so I hired a team of Hollywood makeup artists, hey uh! How young can you make me? Look, I'm kind of feeling like a Michael J fox Back to the Future, maybe like a Zack Morris Saved by the Bell. Screech is perfect. I hear I've heard that a lot foreign, how about this, my name's Chad Powers, I'm a substitute teacher and part-time bartender, and I get to try out for my favorite team. How about that? I think that'll sell, I think, Mark Wahlberg did it and it was a big hit and Invincible. How about my name's Chad Powers, I'm a substitute teacher and part-time Carpenter and I get to walk on and try out for my favorite team way different on Chad power. Hey Chad powers, so Chad, power kind of feeling, a little Matthew, McConaughey from uh Davidson reviews all right, all right all right and we whoa the name's Powers, Chad Powers, the next great Penn State quarterback, which then uh, I think, you're gon na make the team. I got a hose. I got a hose. I always have don't come out there. No going deep, go ball, go ball! Post, ball, roll out, double Post Post Corner, get the arm on tape. You got to get the arm on tape. I mean I personally don't like that approach. I'M just telling you right. The way to make the team is to show them. You can move the chains with completions Chad, Chad. Does it his way Chad likes to throw it deep, yeah, yeah fat, the arm's loose. It'S oiled up. It'S ready to go coach Franklin, Chad, Powers, I'm gon na, be your starting quarterback. Is that you Eli how'd. You know I'd know that Manning face from anywhere. I don't know it's. It'S a it's a bad! Look! It'S a bad look. I thought I thought it should sell. I think you're gon na need this brother, oh man, oh man, all right! Checking in sir, how you doing right here, yeah all right. It was finally time to make Chad's walk-on dreams a reality, all right how you doing hi. How are you, Chad, Powers all right? What semester you're going to be graduating fall or spring uh in the fall, yeah all right and then just confirm you'll be tryout quarterback. Today, yes, ma'am all right are these QB is okay I'll find out in 10 minutes. Thank you. What'S up pal Chad powers, Paris you're nervous a little bit. Okay, that's right! How many receivers we got did they can run better, build a run run fast? I got a hose 60. 65.. I don't know I was back about seven years ago, so things might change. You know you see my guy. It'S like he's stuck hey offense over here for the 40.. You can take the whole line, so your hand can go up to the far part of this white line. We'Re gon na go 140 and roll. We'Ll call your name I'll, give you a thumbs up and then it's going to be on you, everyone good, all right! Connor you're good on you man. Here we go 5-0 hammer on the 40.. You still Got ta Throw it. You know all right here we go Chad, Chad's gon na run. Chad run fast chat. I like that fast track. I think fast run fast right flow. Am I slow me down too? You know: okay yeah, it's good, though. Let'S go Chad here, we go baby think fast run fast. They fast run faster, fast chair. You said it first. This is for you baby. 549. 549 549 was the last team you played on. Oh, I was homeschooled, so I never played ball really pick up. Ball watch a lot of film, though I love that my mom was my coach Mama's. What mom was my coach and my teacher? You go great. No tough teacher. She went very smart she's, a good coach though I love that alrighty. Here we go three minutes here. We go up left here, see those feet. Baby feet are moving, is coming back, oh spun, it spun I'll spin. It that's right with the farm town dictionary, good picture of Chad said Powers, you ain't seen nothing like him, not just good. Looking. I can throw it baby. That'S gon na be calling a Penn State stadium chat, afraid you can play to the 44. Chad can play until he's 26. You know say: go foreign word about my arm. Talent spread fast soon dozens gathered to catch a glimpse of Chad. So go around the chest. Every time every time see his footwork on his foot. Good ball, oh he's about the first one come on Chad, good anticipation, man. I want to sign the Chad Powers guy. I think I see something in them, yeah all right all right. I see you baby. Let'S just run a go round baby: let's just go: let's get on tape this time, Chad will get it out there. Okay, nice cat first of all couple things. First of all, I want to thank you guys, all for being here we're big Believers in this program. An opportunity for you guys to come here chase your dreams earn a roster spot, so we truly appreciate everybody being out here. The other thing I got good news for you. I did some background check and one of the guys that you guys are competing with has kind of been disqualified for two reasons: number one: his testing numbers were awful. He ran five. Four: nine in the 40 broad jump, seven foot, ten, not what we're looking for. But on top of that we found out that he's ineligible. He has no eligibility left Chad, Powers, you're ineligible, come on up baby and I didn't make the team coach. No, you did not it's. Okay, oh man. Oh man thought I had it boys, but you know. I'M sorry, I'm just a 41 year old just wants to play ball man, I'm just trying to get back out there. We go play some balls here. No man no, but I appreciate y'all uh working with y'all today, y'all Running Man, DBS everybody so y'all did great appreciate. You know. Let me try out with y'all it's a lot of fun. Let'S, let's break it down all right: let's go fast track here. We go. We got run on on three one. Two, three Chad Powers may not have made the team, but he learned a lot. Walk-Ons get their heart and soul to a program with no promise of ever taking the field on game day. Some Walk-Ons got an opportunity and became Legends for some others. There'S one moment that makes it all worth it being awarded a scholarship that kind of a team player is Drew hartlop and he's on full scholarship. Now, foreign State, it's become a tradition. I joined the Nittany Lions for practice. I didn't have a disguise, but still had quite the surprise, now we're fortunate to have Eli Manning here with us. Let'S give it up for Eli Manning good money. Thank you, fellas. Thank you. Thank you. You know I heard coach talk about, hey everybody's got to prepare like their starter right. Well, in my mind, hey everybody's got to prepare to get better every single day off that note, so an NFL right, you have free agents in college. You have Walk-Ons right. I got a guy Barney, a more where's Barney 9-6 get up here. Pal, okay, walk ons are important right. You got to have them, but it's pretty damn cool when you're on scholarship. Right now, right, hey, let's get one selfie right here on the count of three family on three one: two three chap Powers totally nailed that carpentry along the side. What do you you? First, I like it like your mustache, too babe, pretty sweet good morning. Yeah. Is this what you make up people use on Peyton's forehead? No, we need a bigger one. He has an eight head boys yeah. I should do a tick tock, video after this yeah. You know the worst part is substitute teaching. Kids, that's the first 40. I'Ve run since my freshman year at Cal. Someone take this chin from me. It'S disgusting laughs, all right guys. My travel was provided by Nicholas air, a great way to fly and to think of my dad jokes, hey Peyton. What do you call traveling on a flying carpet? A rugged experience?

TimeBucks: great to see athletes give back and enjoy how it all started

・your non favorite person 👍・: "Brady can play til he's 45, Chad can play til he's 26" killed me when the Chad disguise made Eli look 15 years older than he already is

Sleepless In The Carolinas: Chad's constant self talk and banter with the players was hilarious!

Sarah Don't T[A]P Me!!: I love the coach getting all excited, “I think I see something in him” lol

Magnus: I don’t even watch football and I watched this video twice. Manning is hilarious.

Enthused: Eli walked into that makeup artist at 41 years old and walked out at 46 and a half years old. Genius.

Daniel Congrove: The Mannings' are hilarious. They do the best sketches. "Think fast run fast"!! Chad is the man!!

Jimbo Davis: I forget how good these guys are until seeing it all in context. With that being said, seeing walk-ons is a reminder of how difficult it is to get on a college roster - let alone with a reputable team. To see Eli in retirement go in there and look like a pro among the college players shows the level he plays at. I gained a whole lot more respect for Eli after this. Last, his humor and personality shined through in spades. Now I see how he was a leader capable of Super Bowl rings. I never necessarily doubted him, but now it's clear. The coaches who thought he was a walk-on had to have been disappointed to see it was fake. They thought they had a walk-on starter! Haha...

Don Stanford: Imagine what these young men are thinking that this guy is making us look bad and then they find out who he is. It would be one part relief and one part thrilled to meet him.

aliss liou: Memorable production.. thank you Eli Manning.. what an inspiration for the young talent at Penn State

Lisa M. Willson: Eli walked into that makeup artist at 41 years old and walked out at 46 and a half years old. Genius.

Dave Turnquist: We had 5 children. 3 of them were athletes of the year. Another one is a ballet dancer. Home schooled. I would expect nothing less. Great video.

Anonymous: "I was homeschooled. My mom was my coach" - Eli Manning

luc rative: You know Peyton told Eli before every game “ don’t go deep, get some completions” and Eli won a super bowl by having the leagues best deep ball lol.

Pete Malysewich: Eli just seems like a fun guy. This has totally changed my perspective of him while he was a player

Tyrone Biggums: Eli went so deep into character think fast run fast he was having the time of his life out there

Понемногу о Многом: I came to NY City from Russia at 2014 winter. NY was ready for SuperBowl. I came to Macys and seen some different jerseys with MANNING name on the back: orange and blue. And could not understand. When became a fan of American football I understood what's going on. Eli - it's my symbol of a football. Thank you so much

PP Gedez: Did they clock him straight off when he checked in ?? They were looking real close. “Fast Chad, think fast run fast” classic

David Evans: Love the Giants & Eli is the MAN!!! Real down to earth guy. 2007 playoffs Eli steered the Giants to 3 consecutive on-the-Road wins culminating in his 1st Super Bowl. The Book of Eli! Great player, future h.o.f, & Great guy. Chad Powers had me rolling over. Brilliant.

Joe Aiden: I really love how happy the team was for Barney the walk on!! Showing a lotta love.

don: The disappointment on the coach’s face when Eli took the face off and he found out he couldn’t sign him was hilarious

Webcore Interactive: You have to hand it to the Mannings, they have a lock on great comedy. This was a great skit.

K-Smooty: "I was home-schooled. Mom was my teacher and my coach. She wasn't a very smart teacher but she was a great coach"

Frieda Rae Perkins: I have always enjoyed watching the Mannings play! I can't imagine what it would mean to the walk-ons to have a professional like Eli in their midst. I'm sure that it had to be inspirational to see what he can still do in his 40's. Great job Eli, for doing this with the guys!

Casemboo: Eli is a legend. This is one of the best skits I've seen out of ESPN in ages.

Joseph Weaver: One thing he did impress...His ability to throw the ball. Yeah he lost some steps but he sure could still throw the ball!

3G: Shout out to the penn state coach who didn’t judge on looks or background.

Christian Easley: I believe that all of these students got a real taste of professionalism!!!!! And they are going to push themselves that much harder knowing what it takes to make it to the top!!!!!

Bradley Brown: I loved the deadpan looks of the one coach who knew who 'Chad' really was. How he didn't bust out laughing was amazing.

Logical Dude: For real though, even a 41 year old who hasn’t played ball in several years clearly stands out from the crowd. Sometimes people forget how good these guys have to be to play pro ball.

Johnny Longshlong: I grew up with Eli, this was one of the best things I've ever seen. Classic.

L J: This was a great video. I smiled the whole way through.

Debra Mason: The end scene was priceless. What a great group of guys. Congrats, Barnie. And thanks, Eli. We love the Manning family here in Indy (especially your brother, .) Maybe you could come help the Colts out.

L3NGZ: I used to dislike Eli because he beat my PATS in the prime years with Brady, but he's actually pretty chill and down to earth!! I love his takes with Peyton as well..

Chairofthebored: Props to the one coach who saw the talent and wanted to sign him despite the bad physicals

Tinksbell3: This was awesome My mom homeschooled me she wasn’t smart, but a great coach the Manning’s are hilarious I love their Cesar commercials

Fran Gardner: I love Eli Manning and when he beat Brady in the big game that sealed the deal for me. This video is awesome!

goferizer: I played my college ball at The University of South Carolina. I fondly remember those after practice team huddles when coach Jim Carlen would announce one of my teammates would be rewarded with a scholarship and the response from the other teammates was exactly the same as in this video. It only happened a few times but It was one of the highlights of every season.

Heather Munoz: This was hilarious. Loved it and I'm not even into football anymore.

opchad: Man It’s crazy how hilarious Eli is. For years while he was playing he seemed quiet and shy. Him and Peyton crack me up

Julia Johnson: This is priceless! Eli is my favorite QB! Love seeing him with the college kids!

nicole morrow: This was so funny. That coach really wanted to sign him.

brandywell44: That was fun. Those walk-ons put everything into their ambition

albert donkrell: never was a Manning fan, but the more I see of both him and Peyton, the more I like both of them and wish they were still in the league for sure..... great guys!

Saleem Wright: Eli had me crying this whole skit! He said he was home schooled and his mom wasn’t that smart.

The Flaming Pike: I love it when legendary athletes do this lol. I remember Peter Forsberg did this as well with a Swedish hockey team, but the best remains Jeff Gordon with a car salesman lol.

Bosstime 2021: The Manning brothers are national treasures.

Green Eagle: We need more positive videos like this

Sabrina Phillips: This was so good I now forgive Eli for beating my Patriots twice

Dangle City: I love when the receiver was talking to him about what route to run and eli responds “let’s just run a go route baby”

V L " El Daddio ": Eli still throws a great Ball He really gave his All just like the other "RunOns " !!!

Mathew Spieker: Had that QB coach holding back tears and punching air at the end

Rafael Lopez: Memorable production.. thank you Eli Manning.. what an inspiration for the young talent at Penn State

Strych9: I couldn't care less about football, but I like this dude. He seems cool, and I love how quick witted he is and smoothly he riffs.

JACOB KNAPP: "my mom wasn't smart but she was a good coach" that got me!!!

Ch33kman DDMc: That was Hilariously CooL. Good stuff. When the one coach says he looks like he's stuck in the 80's was spot on.

Christian Rodriguez: Nothing like watching 4th quarter Eli. A true Giant he is loved and missed

Ming: this was awesome. Eli was never my favorite QB but he’s definitely in the HOF for good guys

Damisa: Eli, Peyton, Penn State Football - thank you for the brief seeing through the looking-glass into a glimpse of an NCAA Football Walk-On tryout!! Grew up in Nigeria playing Soccer, running Track & Field, and a little Basketball and Volleyball. Never American Football. Thank you!!

Timo: When* he said "My mom wasn't that smart, but she was a good coach".......DEAD LOL. This was excellent content.

Dj steady Will: “I think I see something in him.” Loved it. Big up Eli. Never cared for the guy… until now!

gamehunter88: "Chad likes to do it his way , Chad likes to go deep" hilarious

Byron _: This is priceless!! Franklin looked like he was dying inside, trying not to laugh.

joey handeland: Eli, is very comical. Great guy. Great sense of humor.

Jaspers Deblin: This skit had me smiling like a kid the entire time lol that 5.49” “Think fast, Run Fast” LMAO pure motivation

Steven Paul: If Eli had still been on a good team with great players he could still be playing!

Jamal Lowe: Him & Peyton could've been comedians in another life

Joshua Eaton: I'm a eagles fan and honestly I got a kick out of this lol would love to see more retired players do something like this! Birds baby FLY

Greg Miller: As a Cowboys fan, Eli was our nemesis but really enjoyed this and Eli and Peyton together! Wonder if Penn State had a helmet big enough for him if he had made the team?!

Xman8184: Eli and the Giants crushed Beli-cheat and Tom Gravy in the 2008 Super Bowl! Is one of my greatest memories of Eli Manning! Oh the humanity! The supposed undefeated Pats got the moment of truth and defeated! lol.

TheRikuideFurame: 'If Brady can play 'til he's 44, Chad can play 'til he's 26' Powerful words.

DJJmacc: The brothers never miss a chance to tease each other like true brothers do makes it even better

ghostboyee: Eli shined here. How do you make a 41 into a home schooled 18 yo? “Chad 3rd person” was hilarious as he’s running that slower 40. “Peyton’s forehead roller” was lol.

Maui T: Eli just prove that there’s levels to the game

Garland Farms: This video was quite nostalgic. I walked-on. Ended up on full scholarship and team captain. Made the Associated Press All American team and the All Half-Century Team. J.D. Garland...Angelo State. It can be done.
