Hi everyone welcome back to my channel and in today's video we are going to be talking all about going blonde. So I am a blonde specialist and this is a hair channel, so it's definitely been a while, since I've done a blonde dedicated video. So I definitely thought it was time. So as a blonde specialist I constantly get asked, can anyone really be blonde and would that actually work with my complexion or my hair is way too dark? I could never be blonde or my hair wouldn't even go that color and the answer to that question is absolutely anyone can be blonde, so there are a few things that you need to know and that's what this video is about. This video is not showing you step-by-step on how to become blonde. I definitely have plenty of videos on that. I will link them down below this. Video is more to answer questions I'm like will. Is that really for me, and can my complexion support it or can my hair handle it? So that's what this video is about. It'S something that gets asked all the time, the salon. What someone knows what I do for a living they ask as well. So I realized I didn't really have a video actually like targeting this subject. So the first thing, and probably the most obvious, is someone's complexion. I get Latino girls Latinas. Sorry I get Asian girls saying like I can't you know I can never be blond. It just wouldn't look good against my skin, and I can't stress enough: it's not the color of your skin that depicts whether or not you can be blonde and all its going to depict is what tone of blonde you are going to be. So if you are definitely a deeper kind of skin tone, most likely, you are kind of warm skin tone, so a warm color on you would look great, but that can totally be a warm blonde. So the point is as long as it fits your right like skin tone. It is definitely a go for all skin colors I'll, insert pictures here of different skin tones sporting blonde and how amazing it looks now. The second thing - and this is the most important this is kind of as hairdressers. This is our job to to kind of decide whether or not this is possible, but it has to do with your hair condition. This is the most major part and citing whether or not you can't be blonde more than your skintone more than anything else so say you are brunette and you are wanting to jump to blonde. So that means we have to lift quite a few levels to get you to that desired blonde, and in order to do that, you definitely is going to require more than one appointment if you're a brunette going to blonde. Typically, it will take at least three appointments. Sometimes it can take six and sometimes it can take ten and honestly as a hairdresser. We can't just look at your hair at the first day and know you kind of have to go along with the hair, see how the hair is responding to bleach. It may respond well. The first appointment. Second appointment may feel a little bit drier. So really your hair will tell us. So if your hair is healthy, it's easy. We just put you kind of on. You know a few sessions of blondie until you get to your desired blonde. Now say if your hair is not healthy, say can't even take the first appointment. What I suggest to clients is definitely get on, am on a shampoo and conditioners and really do an intense hydrating oil. The my nitrogen ich oil is absolutely the best hair serum that you can put on your hair to really heal it back to that state where we can finally get you blonde, and I've definitely done this with so many clients where the first appointment, what you really Can do anything to their hair other than maybe tone it just because it is so dry and so damaged and brittle. So once they are on monic products for a couple of weeks, normally I've saved six to eight weeks later and we'll see them again and if their hair has improved, we can get on with the first appointment. And if that's, if this is the case, it just means that this process will take longer, meaning that we as hairdressers need to go a little bit slower, because otherwise you won't have any hair left. The other thing is like what about celebrities? How does Kim Kardashian do it? How does Kylie Jenner do it most of the time I would say, maybe seventy to eighty percent of the time those are wigs and when it actually is their hair, that's getting lightened, it's normally a very long, long process and sometimes twelve thirteen hours in the salon And it's three to four blonde ting sessions in one day which is extremely damaging to the hair. So really only if your celebrity wear your with kind of damaging in her because you can, you know - have on-demand extensions and on-demand stylists that can make that damaged. Hair. Look amazing every day, so my point is: if you want to do it really fast, it would cost you double or triple in the long run. So when we as hairdressers, say it's gon na take a while, like please just be patient with us, but my point is it's possible and if anything, don't let blonde necessarily be your goal. Just know that, like in a year, I would like to be blonde, but I want to enjoy the steps getting there. So what I always tell clients to when clients are like a year. That'S like oh, my gosh a year of bad hair and no, please don't think that you're gon na be walking around with brassy orange hair for a year until he becomes blonde there's something about that kind of really gradually slowly getting lighter. That, I personally think looks really beautiful. I think Khloe Kardashian is the absolute most perfect example. At no point did her color look bad, but she was definitely transitioning to a bright blonde and that's what you need to keep in mind and she definitely didn't do it overnight. She definitely took her time and many many blonde accessions, but she has absolutely gorgeous blonde hair now and that's what I can't stress enough is that when you are patient and when you do it the right way and when you don't damage your hair you're, not only Left with blonde hair in the end, but you're left with shiny, healthy, strong blonde hair and there's nothing more beautiful and blonde than healthy and shiny, because, let's face it, no no hair color is dry, damaged, hair pretty, but blonde is probably the least forgiving. In order to just have that just beautiful light bouncing shine, the hair just needs to be healthy and there's no way around that and now I know that there are lots and lots of toners for blondes toning shampoos, but when it comes to brunettes, there's definitely not A lot on the market, especially for non hairdressers, so normally wouldn't going through like a big transition from brunette to blonde, I would doesn't suggest seeing a specialist. Obviously I am the queen of DIY and if there's anything that I feel you can do at home, that's obviously what this channel is for. But if you really want a really bright look in the end, at least for those kind of beginning stages, I would definitely recommend seeing a professional stylist just because they can tone you correctly, and you won't have that kind of weird in-between kind of orangey brown, color And the sad part is that that's what scares so many clients away or there's so many people that have tried it at home and just you know, saw that didn't like it covered it back up with. You know a box brown color and you know then forever in life to say that I can never be blonde and in no way am I saying that blonde is the color to strive for and it's the color to have. Obviously, if you hear you're, probably interested in maybe going blonde or you have some curiosity on it, so this is for those wanting to go blonde, obviously, so, all in all all complexions, as long as your hair is somewhat healthy and as long as you have the Time and patience to go through several blonde ding sessions. You definitely have what it takes to go blonde so for those of you that have always wanted to lighten your hair, maybe you don't want to be blonde. Maybe you just want you know a beautiful kind of caramel balayage like this but say you've, always kind of been afraid or just you know, thought it would never like work for you just know that it is possible. These are all answers to questions that again as a 17 year old I had, and I wish I had a video like this too, to kind of a lay it all out there for me. So if anyone watching is kind of going through that same kind of dilemma - or you know just wondering the same thing - they definitely hope that this has answered some of your questions. Alright, guys. Thank you so much for watching, don't forget to Like and subscribe. If you haven't yet, I love you and I'll see in the next video bye. You

Chelsea: Would you mind doing a video on what shades of blondes look good on what skin tones AND skin shades please? That combined info isn't easy to find. I'm cool tone and super white, with dark brown hair and I've always thought I couldn't go blonde, that it'd wash me out or something. But this video gives me hope! lol. Thanks!

Krista Mehanikova: Your eyes match your top and that's really satisfying to me for some reason haha

Brynn Foster: As a stylist, I’d never recommend Monat. I don’t understand why people think these products are still safe after countless lawsuits against the company. If you want your hair to fall out, then I would definitely recommend them!

Carmen Quinones: I honestly had a great experience going blonde. I’m a natural red head and I’ve had trouble going blonde with bleach, box dye, and highlights before. I paid a new stylist to dye my hair blonde recently and she used lightening powder and olaplex and my hair went blonde, well almost white, in one sitting. She only charged me $80 and my hair has never been healthier !

Hayley Lynn: I paid $200 at a hair salon, and paid extra for olaplex, to go blonde. I knew I was going to need 2-4 sessions, and she told me I did, but she literally bleached my hair white with 40 and "put the olaplex" in the bleach, but she didn't mix it in front of me. The way my hair fried and fell off, I'm pretty sure she didn't use it. My hair started to smoke and it fell off. I don't trust salons now going to blonde is very expensive, a lot of "pros" don't know what they're doing apparently lol. Be careful with salons.

grammaurai: This is my new favorite beauty vlog on YouTube. THANK YOU for not being condescending and rude. Whenever I see a stylist who stars color-shaming, I resolve to never see them again. The ones who really understand why women turn to DIY color and care are WINNERS all day long. <3

chel q.: cmon now Elle! not all hair stylist do their jobs well! I have bad experience 90% of the time I've been to a hairstylist

BrittLynn: Thank you for this video! I’ve been a really dark brunette all my life and I’ve never colored my hair before (just permed it about a year ago), but you’ve convinced me to go blonde.

Sharna L: I was dying my hair all the time, and it ended up really damaged. I went dark and planned on staying dark to let my hair rest but now I want to be blonde again! So scared incase my hair falls out

Tea Please: I remember this being one of the many blonde videos I watched before taking the plunge about a week ago at a salon. Tbh this video felt rather intimidating and misinformed because I felt this all heavily revolved around becoming a really light blonde/platinum when you have poor hair condition. I went in with box dyed level 5 hair (my natural hair is a level 5-4) and she got me to a level 8-9 in a single session; I wanted to be a medium to lightish blonde so she got me there with my hair feeling great I'll be going in for my finishing appointment soon. So just a heads up, if your aim isn't platinum and you have strong hair, it won't take an entire year

LovedHappy: Ahhh this video was for me! I have reddish hair and have never dyed it but have been thinking about going blonde but overwhelmed thinking about getting the tone right. Thank you for this!

Bren's Boutique: Hi Sylvia. I Love your videos! I have a question for you! I had my roots dyed to match my natural color (ashy brown) and cover a few grays. I'm currently letting old blonde highlights grow out. Unfortunately, my worse nightmare came true and it turned red, which I told my stylist is what I def didn't want. She felt bad and she said to come back in and she would fix it so I did. I told her I wanted (as per our original visit) to get back to my natural brown hair eventually. She said the only way to get rid of the red was to lighten it more...so that's what she did. Unfortunately, now it's orange. :( :( :( She says it's just my hair but this has never happened before. I didn't want to say anything because she worked hard for 2 hours (again) but $300 later and I hate my hair, even more than if I'd left it just reddish from the 1st visit. My question is this: if I follow your "how to tone brassy hair to cool blonde' video (from Feb 2013) directions (using the Wella T11 and/or T18) do you think it will help? I'm so afraid it's going to get green or more orange/yellow but it has to be fixed. It looks so bad on me. :( PLEASE HELP!! TIA

Awhimaaia Tupuhi: I did it!! I went completely blonde from dark brown and I look so much prettier and I was quite cold tones with pink undertones and I was worried that it would make me look red all the time but it made me warm toned and I guess that’s why I could never figure out my skin tone cause my hair affected it so much anyway going blonde is great but I went to the hairdresser and they did not do what I wanted and didn’t even look at the pictures I showed them so make sure if you go to the salon that they know exactly what you want. I had to re do it myself and that’s a real bummer since I paid so much

Gala: I understand that multiple sessions with a professional are important but I still hate it and I don't trust professionals in my country. I got tired of wasting time and money on hairdressers who didn't even actually toned my hair when I requested it very explicitly. After educating myself from the internet for a while I now bleach and tone it myself at home and my hair is actually very healthy even though I went from a 2 to 9/10ish and I'm Latina. If you're going to a professional make sure they actually know what they are doing, harass them with questions and pictures.

Jess A: I admit to being that person with 2N hair going in and wanting blonde That was 3 years ago... Now I'm a hair student and I 100% understand the struggle of wanting blonde. It's a process. I got to a caramel brown ish color before having a fashion color phase and now I'm back to the caramel stage wanting a nice bright golden blonde. Only once though I'm crazy so I probably won't be a "natural" color for many many years to come.

marlenesilva: Love your videos , super informative and you're stunning! I take my hair from blonde to black to red back to blonde ! I do it myself because it's a pixie cut and I know what my hair can and can not take ! Now that I'm growing my hair out I will definitely be going to salon once it's at the length I want ! And that last pic is totally what I want length and all

Jordan List: thank you for this video, recently tried to go blonde from brunette and it turned out really brassy, gave it a couple months and was about to go back to brown thinking it was me/my skin tone. now I know the importance of the proper stylist who knows blonde and will look for one in my area ♡

Lala Demo: I love your explanation! I love how you break down the process! It’s to the point. Love how you keep it real!

Rinneford: I've gone from brown to almost white blonde in an hour in the salon I go to. Every time I bleach my hair, I never have breakage, hair loss, or burns. My hair is really thin and takes bleach well though, so I might be an exception. I really want to go strawberry blonde this time :)

Cassandra8910: Sylvia, I have been watching your videos for years now. Your video, “How to Fix Extremely Orange Bleached Hair” (and a number of others) helped me understand/gain so much hair/beauty knowledge. Also, when I went from dark hair to light, you saved me several hundreds of dollars. I really appreciate your channel. I hope you read this note and are encouraged that there are many viewers, like myself, whom adore your kind personality and beauty advice. I plan to use your “4 Quick Hairstyle for Dirty Hair” tips for when I fly to Spain tomorrow! Thank you for being YOU!

MC 1990: Just discovered your channel! You're awesome! I spent years bleaching my hair and it was awful, I've now embraced my natural colour but I adore blonde (done the right way!) new subscriber ❤️

Vanessa Rivard: Your videos are amazing. Love them!! I've watched pretty much all of them, some multiple times lol. I have a question about going blonde that I can't seem to find an answer for. I know you said that all skin tones can go blonde, but what if you have rosacea or excessively red skin? Would the blonde bring out the redness more?

Emma Guapo: I love your attitude ! You’re a professional and understand the value of DIY I enjoy doing my own hair most of the time and I am afraid to tell friends, especially friends that are hairstylists this.

human centipede: Honestly the fact that last year I wanted to dye my hair black, and now I'm already planning on going really blonde, I'm pretty damn excited.

Lori P: As a stylist myself I think this is a great video on advice to anyone who wants to try out being blonde

Nayab Chowhan: Hi Elle! I recently went to a salon to have my balayage refreshed, but the stylist bleached my hair too light and tones it too ashy! Not only that, but my hair is now super dry and I'm afraid to do anything to it, even though I hate the color. I have a medium/olive tone skin color. What would you suggest? Please help!

Daniela Moreno: Thanks for this video! it really helped out a lot. This video really made me realize that it's going to take time for me to achieve the desired blonde look I want. I am happy with my look, but I would like a Beyonce blonde. I also don't want to go to a salon and pay hundreds of dollars. I know, it's safer and they are experts, but I just don't have that kind of money. So your videos and your calm and kind voice really put me at ease for the kind of blonde results I'd, eventually, like to achieve. Much love you girl!

Ainsley Short: hey there! I have a question about root touch ups for blondes. I am an "established" blonde and I typically do my own root touch ups at home. I am naturally a level 2 or 3. That being said, it usually takes my two bleach sessions to get my roots to left to the desired level (my overall blonde is about a 9) If someone with a natural level 2 or 3 were to go to a salon to get their roots lifted, would this be easier for a hair dresser than the two sessions I go through at home? Can they lift roots to a desired level easier than if they were dealing with a whole head of hair and lengths? I hope my question makes sense! Side note, I do not re-apply bleach after the first application onto dry/bleached hair, I rinse, dry and repeat (usually in the same day :S) thanks so much!!!

Judy Klynstra: Thank you, I've tried to explain this to my clients and now I'll have them watch your video! I've never wanted to sacrifice the integrity of the hair just because they asked for it

Yogabug: It is a definite lengthy process I totally agree. I've been trying to go blonde for a year now. It didn't work out for me in the salon but I am having so much fun doing it myself and since May 2016 to present I am at a level 8 almost 9. I still need to lighten a bit more but I will wait and keep conditioning my hair to try to maintain softness and lustre. I'm Asian and I'm blonde. It looks more natural now and less brassy than when I started. I really love my new look and am turning heads out there. Thanks Silvia for all your videos...so helpful!!!

Dorothy Peach: New sub. I love how your advice is so real. Some people are sensitive and I don’t recommend going blonde in one day if you are sensitive. It burns but if you got a good stylist they will make sure your scalp survives. I’ve gone to blonde from natural black in one day twice with some years in between. It took about 6 hours because I got highlights too. My hair stylist is the bomb. She warned me about the process and damage. My hair has never fell out, minimal shedding. One important thing most people don’t understand is that being blonde is high maintenance. It will continue to falll out if you don’t condition your hair. I used its a 10 haircare line for my hair. Never had an issue. I’m so random though because I get bored easily. I’m probably about to sit the 6 hours or less (because my hair is super short now) to go back to blonde.

Cassy Fabiani: I got my hair bleach blonde in one day without damaging my hair. It actually damaged my hair more when they repeatedly put thin highlights in my hair. The overlapping is very damaging over time. Use a highlift blonde with olaplex and tone. Make sure not to do thin highlights.

Debra Bebber: I have always been able to go blonde quickly in my teens never having to tone it or go too a salon. Now that I am older, it takes me 2 blonding sessions. ( why did my hair get darker?)Because of your advice, I am able to keep healthy hair and go blonde again. Love you and your channel.

Bella Alvarez: I had a bad experience at a hair salon. My hair was very light blonde and I wanted a light ash blonde but my hair turned out orange brown hair and I've notice some parts of my hair were lighter than others but i love that you explained that and i agree it took me a while to become blondd

Jacklynn Marie: I really wish you lived in Michigan or I could afford to travel! I’m a mother of 3+1 on the way and it’s been my dream to go completely blonde! I managed it once but it literally took me a yr of repeated highlights to do so! You have an incredible talent and I love learning from you! Maybe one day I’ll be able to have you attempt turning me blonde! Thank you for all your helpful videos! Xo

Tamara Murray: I am transitioning to blonde now from a level 2. Note to self guys, when you dye your hair with box dye repeatedly only touch up the roots. I finally found the perfect salon in Vancouver, Bc and we have begun the process. She lifted the box dye that I have had 7 years, and it lifted so well that the color expert gave the go ahead for my first bleach out. I am sitting at a red warm brown color and to be honest I hate I but I know this is the safest way to transition. Also because my hair is so healthy they gave the go ahead for my appointment in a month! Its a process, but my hair is my crown, and ide rather it not fall out.

Brittany Codiene: I went from complete black to a level 8 2 months later. I bleached my hair about 5 times, leaving it in 15 minutes at a time and still have healthy hair. Only because I think Im allergic to toner so I can only keep it in for 5 to 10 minutes. Its a long process if you want to keep your hair lol

Rick Thompson: Hi there ! I just discovered your channel and this is a great video. I have just been victim of a blonde fail and going through a yellow/brownish period. Do you think it's fixable to get a decent blond from there or I would have to start the whole process again? I did one session in december and one in April. I'm not expecting platinum one day to the other :) Many thanks ! xx from London, Anna

JRKeys: Thank you so much for your time I really appreciate how well you explained this i have a new hair dresser because my other one has retired we cut my hair today I told her just as a quick introduction before we transition my hair from a brown with grey's natural hair to a beautiful blonde this definitely won't happen straight away but I am keen to start the journey because it will be fun to try out some transition colors aswel

Lauren McPeak: She is fantastic at her craft and full of useful information for the diy divas

Right_in_two: After 1,5 years I reached my dream blonde! I use to have jet black hair too, the wait was worth it!!!

HeidiMarie Gath: went into a salon for low lights... (I was a level 9) walked out a level 1 lolol my saint of a hair colorist lifted me back to a level 9 in 3 sessions over 6 months and I didn't have to get anything cut!! Anything is possible y'all

Mishko B: Actually I recently changed my hair colour from dark brown to silver blonde and my hair dresser did a good job (altough I'd have preferred to get get it done by you but I live in Germany but your videos convienced my to give it a try). I know that bleached hair is kind of demaged and you should wash it less then untouched hair. I've got short hair as you can tell and I need hair products to style it. If I use sulfatefree shampoo do you think it is ok to wash it more regulary (incl. silver shampoo once a week and hair mask etc.) because I don't want to keep that stuff in over over night? I really appreciate your opinion on that.

Juliet Tyler: It took me years of stubborness and a few fried heads of hair to finallyaccept this fact. I am naturally dark DARK brunette, almost black with very porous hair, wavy hair and I maintain my blonde myself. I cut a few corners and as a result, have a few brassy spots, some inconsistances, and a purple strand from a toning mishap experiement a month ago (a hazard of DIY what can ya do?) but for the most part, I moved slowly. I always wanted that bright ash blonde right then and there and drove a handful of poor stylists crazy with my unrealistic expectations, but in the end, I suggest having fun with each transition- enjoying it because once you're blonde for a couple years, you'll miss those darkers tones a bit and wish you would have played around with the darker colors longer If you plan on being blonde anyways, what's the rush? THanks for this video! I worry that only frying your hair will get the message thru to the extra stubborn blonde or die types, but let's hope people are smarter than me.

Calleigh 은미: I'm new to your channel and I love your videos! I wish I lived in California, I would LOVE for you to do my hair. While I go to a wonderful salon and an extremely experienced and talented colorist, I don't think I've ever met any blonde specialists. I'm an Asian woman who has naturally super dark & thick hair who started my journey to blonde a few years ago. I'm finally a platinum blonde and I love it so much! Thank goodness for Olaplex, Brazilian bond builder, etc

D CS: Silvia, olà! Podias fazer um video mostrando as cores utilizadas na modelo do video no momento 8:01 minutos, por favor! Fica tão lindo!!!

Noemy Sanchez: Naturally I have light brown hair and I know my hair lightens fast. I’ve been wanting to go a light blonde kinda like yours and I’ve already gone to 2 different girls, first hair dresser i went with for 3 appointments and I hated that my hair was still dark underneath. When I went to the next girl she said that hair dresser was only getting the top of my hair. This new hair dresser swore she can get it done in one hit since she saw my light roots and sounded like she would but nope my hair looks yellowish still. So I went again and sat in her chair for nearly 6 hours and of course she only did a few sections and i hate that i look like i have highlights when I specifically asked for my whole hair to be lighten. Basically I been trying to get my hair light for nearly 3 years now and at this point I’m so over it. I’m actually annoyed and thinking of doing my hair auburn. Now my question is will auburn be an easier fix? Will I get that auburn tone quickly over my yellowish blonde hair?

cynthiaparris: I love your videos.. I recently went from brown, to red, to brown.. and now I am blonde.. but it has taken 5 sessions going in every 4 weeks to get me the blonde I am now.

Fotini Georgiou: Sometimes is possible, I used 10 years hair color aubergine(natural color-black2), I visited a very good saloon after 1 session total change-base number 6 with highlights like yours, excellent, until now,18 years with this look, never got bored, btw, you are so good, keep going, wanna hairdresser like you, love from CY❤️

Catalina Preston: Hi Elle! I have a question: If you use 40 Vol Developer with Olaplex, which reduces the intensity of the developer to 30 Vol, is that less damaging than simply using a developer of 30 Vol with no Olaplex? I have very blonde hair and usually use 40 Vol Developer with Olaplex, but somehow it's the most damaged it's ever been so I want to reduce it to 30 Vol, but don't want the developer to then act like a 20 Vol Developer if I use Olaplex. Would LOVE to know your recommendation

Kelly Smith: I've been watching you since the very beginning, and I have to say, you get more gorgeous as time goes on. Also, I just have to say, and it's totally unrelated to this video, your lips are absolutely beautiful! Your one of my most favorite you-tubers.

PATI BEAUTY: I went from brunette to a bright blond in one session I still have healthy hair !

maria Paradis: ladies ,don't forget upkeep retouches are needed every 3 to 4 weeks . hair grows on average 1/2 inch a month so be prepared .it's not cheap and looks bad unless it's retouched when your new growth comes in .

ZALA HAIR EXTENSIONS: Such great educational videos <3

•Angie• •marie•: i’m dying my hair from dark brown to brunette at home and it turned out really good only for 20 bucks and it’s stayed that way for almost 2 years:)

Amorous Euphoria: Love the hair, keep it up. I'm rooting for you, girl!

Koco: Hi Sylvia I've asked this question on your hairchat fb page but haven't gotten a clear answer: I have beautiful natural curls that I don't want to lose but anytime I lift my hair color, it ruins the texture of my hair & my hair starts turning straight is there any way I could ever go blonde & KEEP my natural texture?

LauraAnn: I have vivids on my hair. Before that it was red for 2 years. When I decided to go for vivids, we took a loooooong time lifting it and getting the red out. We would lift a bit and put on purple and so on and so on for about a year until it was about a 9/10 and then did the vivids. Now with how much I've changed my color, it's pretty much white under the vivids. It is a little dry and more fragile but it hasn't fallen out of my head so yay! I would like to be blonde. I dont know how hard/how much work it would be to get this pink out and make me blonde but all good things come to those who wait right.

antihackergrl 31now32: It depends on your skin tone. I was born a dirty blonde, that's why it looks good on me because it's pretty if you have fair skin. I don't look good with dark hair because I wasn't born with dark hair or red hair, I tried both colors on me at one point and they both looked like crap, a lot of people told me blonde looked better on me because of the skin tone. Never dye your hair any color unless you know it's going to look good on you, that's why it's best to talk to a specialist. And never pick the wrong hair stylist either, I let this black woman work on my hair and she chopped it up. So now I have to find a new hair stylist when I go get my hair trimmed.

Holt Family: ellebangs I just saw and clicked on your video to learn up some since we just started our channel and I just went blonde, I am so sorry for some of these ridiculous comments people are putting on here. We went from all us women (some men who also like dying their hair) loving to play with our hair and obviously put videos up to share with others how well we did and what not to do to help out other people from making the same mistake. That is all this is! yes some people done have the time, money, or patience to do it professionally and they want to try it at home, OH WELL! It may turn out amazing and they saved some money and time or it went horribly wrong and they go to a salon to fix it, OH WELL! Everyone gets their money and want they want in the end. Yes some people have had horrible experiences in a salon that doesn't mean you tell them not to be bashing other people in a cosmetic profession, they are expressing their opinion on their EXPERIENCE not on the name of the person who did their hair or where they got it done it! Please everyone just be positive and uplift everyone in their paths in life ! Love the video hope everyone can just be positive or you know the saying "If you cant say something nice done say anything at all!" This is pointed to anyone who takes offense obviously. Thanks for your time and effort you put into this beautiful video Ellebangs!

Donna Pieniazek: I thought you were going to "show" yourself bleaching and toning your hair! I know how, I've done it for years, I just wanted to watch someone go from dark brown to a neutral blonde. And, you CAN go from dark brown to pale blonde in one day! I've done it for years!!!!

Kayla Leggett: I know you mentioned between 6-10 sessions possibly for dark hair, about how much would it cost per session? I think the cost alone could be a factor in not going blonde. Especially if you end up spending over a grand ☹️

Melissa Hernandez: I made the mistake of dying my hair red and I didn't like it. I only had my hair red for three months. I am trying to go blonde and it is taking time. This is my third session. It is frustrating but thanks for the video. It helped me so much to realize that one day I will have my hair blonde.

Brurie Sperlin: I have curly hair (not kinky or rough but it's pretty curly) and lately I've been really loving my hair blown out. I've been doing it weekly for the passed 2 months.. I'm not sure if I'm imagining things but I think I'm noticing my hair thinning out a little bit on the top. Does that make sense? I always make sure to use a heat protectant to avoid damage. But do you have any products that you swear by to recommend thickening of the hair?

Laura Thurlwell: Thanks for this vid! Any chance you'd do a vid on your thoughts/tips on how or whether or not to use hair lightening to blend 10-25% grey in the crown/temples on a medium brunette over doing all-over, one-toned permanent color? I'm thinking Sarah Jessica Parker-esque as an example.

SK Bennett: I'm very pale-completed and for myself, it looks a lot better to stay away from pale blonde! I like a dark blonde base with sunkissed highlights. Doesn't wash me out or make me look tired. My natural hair is going a totally gorgeous color of glossy snowy white--which, on me, makes me look 20 years older! But boy, is it color-resistant, and needs touch_ups every 3 weeks! I keep a can of that spray-on color for the day or two before I get the roots done.

Joy Bunde: I am a HUGE fan! Thank you for all your blonde information!

Tasha Lawson: Candice thank you for taking the time to reply. I pretty much got the gist of what you meant by quote, "having no hair left." But I had to be sure haha! It surely makes sense using )too much bleach on a client with darker hair in a short time leaving hair damaged and brittle.. You weren't confusing, I just wanted clarification!! love your videos, they're very informative and thorough. You were the first girl on YouTube who taught me how to cut my own hair! you'll always be my go-to hair girl in terms of the Tube! Xx

Alice Macias: Wow, what a good video. Love your hair and great discussion points. You mean and know what you’re talking about. Definitely not an annoying video, worth the watch.

kskits ._: Ugh, I tried to go blonde about a year ago and it was a disaster. It damaged my hair to no end, to the point that my hair used to be straight and now it's wavy from damage. My hair took probably 7 hours to lift and it all turned bright ass orange. Not like mildy brassy, but literally orange. I had to tone it so much just to make it look okay. It also lifted so unevenly, some pieces turned almost white, some turned orange, and some stayed brown, leaving me with awful patchy Kelly Clarkson hair.

Blanca vazquez: I love your channel!! Gets me so excited to go to cosmetology school

Amy Iltzsch: I went straight blonde and my stylist made my hair amazing it was really healthy. My hair is also a light ashy brown.

MysticForrest: First of all, you are amazing and I wish I had known about you when I spent 3 months in San Francisco some years ago! I need some sound advice now as I feel like I have a hair crisis! I had a pretty Ombre on my medium to dark brown hair- blond ends ( an amazing hairdresser did this, but grew in rank and now costs around 300 dollars and up) my hair grew a lot so I bought the L'oreal Ombre kit, I decided to get a bit creative.. Yikes! Of course my Brown hair turned redish not anywhere near blond. Desparation took over and I was advised to tone it down by using a 9.1 light ash L'oreal color. My hair turned orange. Haven't used bor dyr in forever and so regret it now but too late. I have now been studying your videos, looking at purchasing developers, bleach and toners but I am actually scared I am going to mess it up even more. Hairdressers in Denmark are awfully expensive if you want a good one honestly. Had had more bad experiences when choosing a less expensive one to lighten my hair. At the moment I have aprox. 3 -4 cm- Brown roots ( virgin hair), the midle sections which I tried to do balayage style, is way to orange, the ends are blond. My goal would be for it to be kind of balayage styl in the end, with a softer blond base (not brassy obviously or yellow of course but not too white either maybe the 7aa wella color could work?)and then lighter blond strands. So I guess my question to you is, how should I procede to create a more even blond from the orange bit to the ends? And how can I best create a fading from roots to the beginning of the blond color. You might never see this or answer but thought I would take the chance. And regardless Thank You for your amazing advice!

Jennifer FB: Thanks for sayin that it is possible. Two years ago I went to 3 different hair salons tryin to see who would turn my moms hair blonde, as close as possible to platinum. She wanted to do a color that would help her transition easier to her natural salt and pepper color. She did have medium brown hair color. All 3 said no. That she just has to let her hair grow. One of them was even rude to her. I ended up searching in the wonderful youtube world and found many different tutorials on how to do it, including on of yours that talks about the levels of hair color. I'm clearly not a professional, but I listened and researched. It took me 3 sessions to get her hair to a similar blond as you have in this video, without damage to her hair! Now she is sporting her natural salt and pepper hair and she is happy. While she was blond she had many compliments and her hair looks very healthy. I don't recommend people to just go ahead and do it, since every hair is different. But it is possible and a professional shouldn't just say no. A great stylist would explain what you mention in this video. It takes time and patience.

M: How long should i wait in between bleaching sessions? Before my first bleach at the salon, i had kinda healthy hair, i mean it wasnt really healthy but wasnt damaged either, after the first bleaching it became a little bit damaged and i can feel it s more dry than before.

caiTLIN g: Hello! I have a question about hair dyes... I'm naturally a dark dirty blonde colour, but about 6 months ago I dyed my hair with red henna (Lush, marron). I understand it coats your hair and fades overtime (almost back to my natural colour now...) but I was wondering if it's possible to dye over, if you've ever used conventional dye over henna, and what the results were like?

music lover: This is perfect timing because I'm about to go blonde haha

Kesia K: I don’t allow any hairstylist to touch my hair without Olaplex and if I walk into the salon and her hair is short I immediately walk out. One thing I learned about hairstylists is they love their IG videos, even if you lose half the hair on the first wash.

Hangnailmissy: I’m on the journey to go back to blonde from dyed dark hair, I could only get to a medium red. The key is patience and make sure you feed your hair with good nutrients and keep it moisturized.

xmochi x: Took me 6 months to achieve the golden brown I have. I am Asian. Black hair isn’t exactly easy to lift. I enjoyed the process and still looked amazing. I miss some of my old hair looking at some old photos.

Lorrie Bard: Hello! Great video and YES you answered some of my questions ☺️

Roya: I am SUPER obsessed with blonde hair. I have dark brown hair. But thank you. I really enjoy watching this

Hope Windle: I'm at a level 6/7 at my roots (colored) and a level 7/8 mids-ends... It's been bleached and colored a hand fun of times in the last 5 years but is healthy, soft hair..have an appointment Friday to go BLONDE for the first time since I was 5!! My eyebrows are full ash ash blonde that make them look black, and my natural hair is a very blonde brown level 7/8.and I have a similar complexion to yours with green eye/blue eye. Going ash/pearl blonde. Gosh I'm excited to give myself a new look!

Tiffany Childs: Thank you for this video!!! I will definitely sharing this with my clients!

Jennifermwb: I started with blonde hair. It was a darker golden blonde. I went in for full head balayage highlights. My hair lifted and went white (legitimately WHITE) much faster than I think the stylist was prepared for. By the time she got to the top of my head and around my face the under layers were pure white and needed an immediate rinse. It all looks fine. I am happy with it. But I am curious if I still need to worry about purple shampoo or toning. Will that white hair eventually go yellow?

Slavica Pavlovic-Mitrovic: Love your soft waves, looks so natural and healthy!!

Jocelyne Davis: My hair stylist in NY lifted my hair from dark brunette to platinum in one appointment and it felt pretty healthy afterward. Not trying to shade, just wondering why that is?

KannabisBarbie: This video made me like and subscribe! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! And thank you for your insight and hair advice!

Glo2Go ☀️ Danielle ☀️: I was looking into the Monat products on your page, I am in the  process of going blonde and its a process.. if you had to pick either the monat shampoo and conditioner or the oil which one would you pick to strengthen your hair.. I am a single mom of 2 boys and right now cant afford all 3..Thank you. love your channel and all your insight !

kittykittysoftpaws: thank u Silvia! very informative, is true you have to see how it would lift the first time to know how long it would take to get to the highest level. one thing I think was left out of this vid is that blonde requires more personal maintenance as far as keeping the tone...purple shampoo/conditioner..in between tonning since you can leave the salon with gorgeous hair, but if u don't take care of the color can turn ugly so quickly

Joan Gentile: I love your hair color, Sylvia!! It's beautiful!!

Madison Allen: Hello! I've been wanting to get my hair died blonde for awhile now. I have lightly tanned skin and brown hair at the moment. I shaved one side of my head about a year or so ago and for a couple months now I've been letting it grow out. I was wanting t know if I should dye that side as well or just leave it brown while the rest of my hair is blonde.

Breanna Aponte: This helped me so much I so appreciate this!

Anya421: And here I am ready to redarken my lightened but brassy hair with 2 box dyes because the salon I went didn’t give me my dream pink/rose gold hair color. I literally cried out of frustration when I saw these orange strands. It would’ve been okay if the salon was just honest and said to me that they can’t give me my desired color in one sitting. But they just went with it, bleached my hair, twice at the ends and slapped on pink hair color that faded after 4 washes. Now I’m left with this yucky hair but after watching this I decided to just go lighter but gradually. I’m too afraid to do it on my own since I’ve seen so many diy fail videos so I’ll just go seek a professional. Even if takes a whole year I’m going to get that pink(but healthy) hair if it’s the last thing I’ll do.

Seagreentangerine: I adore your channel and would love to know how you deal with clients who have about 40% grey hair in the front only? Due to a recent move, I had to try and find a decent hairdresser and where I am grey the dye is throwing out brass, pale yellow streaks after the 2nd wash and no dye on those grey hairs, it's like it's not taking. The rest of my hair is fairly blonde and it's a lovely ashy and bleached from 5 inches from root to tip. My hair is thick and I only have to wash it once a week. If you have any information or advice forclients suffering from bad hair dyes on grey, I'd be soo grateful ! x

Jess L: Hey Elle, I have a very sensitive scalp and sometimes I get an allergic reaction to bleach. Do you have any recommendations?

Susane Banissi: My last color sesh has ended up with two toner follow-ups and a partial color fix and I'm still not happy and out of money!! She started with not enough coverage for my balayage and then ended up with too much coverage and tooooo brassy! I guess I need to know how I can fix this at home. Should I order the same color she used to pull up some chunky balayage to the roots? Also wondering how to add some dark back in. >.<

Angelique Navarro: Can you do a video about picking an eyebrow color after you are blonde and how to bleach them? I have dark hair and getting my eyebrows to match is a challenge

Sarafromthecity: I went blonde in 2 days with like 3 bleaching sessions!!! It was super bright like your hair! With like $70 dollars lol

00 00: I have a blonde tint on my lengths. My lengths are about a level 9-10. My natural hair color is about a level 3. The last hairdresser I went to see did a root touch up in foil highlights, she didn't tint it. The highlights have gone very light, to a level 9-10 like the rest of my hair, however, I'm worried about how they are going to match the lengths as they grow out. My natural hair is very dark. I would never touch it up at home.
