Hi everyone so in today's video you're gon na be doing a behind the Instagram video. I haven't done one of these in so long and I have these kind of more elaborate videos that I want to film, for you guys that's kind of at the top of my filming list, but in my last Instagram hair post, I had a lot of you Guys request a more in-depth and behind the Instagram video, like I used to do so. The pictures I am talking about that I posted on Instagram are of this transformation here, so she came in with not only gray roots and a lot of unwanted warm reddish tones at her roots. She also had banding, which is one of the worst things that us as hairdressers when we are trying to lighten someone's hair that we can be dealt with. So the banding was the thing that I was most worried about. So my plan of attack was to try and lighten that first, so I went in and wove pretty thick highlights, so I voided the roots completely and I avoided where she was already blonde. So really just in that about. Like two inches of that banding I applied Lightner and I was using red khun's a flash lift with the Bhandar inside and I started off with 20 volume and I actually started it in the back. And I wanted to kind of see how that was lifting. And if that was good, then I could do that all over the head, but I could kind of gauge better from there whether I needed to go up to like maybe 30 or 40 or possibly even lower, so 20 ended up being perfect. So then, I quickly moved up to the front because I love lightening the front first, because that's where you want the most lightness anyway, so I started working in the front and once that band was lifted to a pretty bright level. Basically, the inside of a banana peel is what we aim for so once it was lifted nicely. I mixed the flash lift with the Bhandar inside again at this time, with only 10 volume, and then I worked that up towards the roots and then write it down. A little bit we're her existing one had some kind of more yellow tone, so I went in and brighten that up so then, if that's processing I went in with six and n cover fusion, and then I went with a dab of seven na. I just wanted to have a little bit of that ash tone in there, but I knew that I needed that NN for the great coverage, so I went in and painted where she had her gray roots and any bit of that super kind of orange e banding. That she had that did not get highlighted. I would say that I highlighted a good, maybe 75 % of her hair, so that means that only 25 % was left for the base color, because I had a few people asking me like the hair looks really light. There'S no way that that's just 6n n and yes, I didn't mix a little bit of 7na in there. But definitely some people were saying, like that, looks like a level 8 and I think an 8 would be brassy over time and I feel like it would just be way too blonde, and I did want a little bit of contrast in there. So so then I let everything else process and finish off. Then we were ready to rinse her out and tone her. So I did just a really quick root tap with a 9n just straight 9n, and I literally just did maybe like an eighth of an inch at the root, and sometimes, if I really just want it to sit for like two to three minutes. I will rinse that off and then tone all over, but because it was a level 9 which is already pretty bright. It'S really just shadowing it so softly that the I can barely detect it, but once the hair is blown out, it's just so beautiful and soft. So as that micro root was processing, I went in with oh nine pee shades eq. Then i didn't out of the crystal clear which dilutes the level nine to a level ten which allows the shades eq to tone the hair, but not to really darken it. So the hair still looks really bright and pearly, so once those two toners processed, i rinsed her out. I'M shampoo during conditioner of course, and gave her a simple blow out using the kira looks blow dryer. I love using a blow dryer that is gon na, be really gentle on my hair, especially right after I have colored it. Clients always say like how do you always get the best, blowout and add a salon, and they everyone thinks it's really just hidden in the technique and, to be honest, it's everything I mean if the color looks right, if the color was done correctly, meaning that it Didn'T strip the hair, and then you are shampooing and conditioning with the right product for your hair. Then the blowout is done with good tools that are good for your hair. That'S what makes a blowout good! It'S really is a combination of all of those things. Then I finished her off by adding just some soft waves with the t-3 curling iron, which I have at the salon as well and yeah. That is it. That is everything that we did to her hair and I will leave in the description box. Like actual formulas, I always think that that's unnecessary, because the measurements I used for my client will most likely be different for your client, because your client may have more or less hair, and I do like knowing what someone uses to tone. I think that's exciting or how they went about a root. I think that is definitely fun to know what other hairdressers have used, but sometimes people like well, you didn't leave like how many Ounces exactly so. I know that someone will ask. Oh, I will leave that in the description box and to finish off the look. I just spritz a little bit of the triple dry, this from red khun's new dry texture line. I love this new line of styling products. My clients absolutely love the way it smells and if you guys follow me on Instagram, been announcing their giveaway that they've been doing, they will be picking 10 of you guys. I will leave that linked in the description box also down below, and you will get the entire set of the dry texture line shown here all right. So thank you guys so much for watching. Thank you for requesting this video. These are one of my favorite videos to make, and I know you guys enjoy them too. So, thank you and I'll see you the next one bye guys have I been able to get that song out of my head for the last three days.

Debbie Giori: This turned out beautifully, but I would love to watch the actual whole process!

Pixievette: Luv love this awesome detailed vid. Thank you, Beautiful Ms. Silvia, for always sharing your work, giving us the exact formulas so we can do this at home.like always you look amazing

C Mac: Love this, and this is pretty much what is happening with my hair for root regrowth every 3 to 4 weeks! Also, I love your necklaces. Are they something you can link?

Nancy T.: This is EXACTLY what I have been waiting for and NEED for my own hair! Too bad i'm all the way accross the country from you or I'd make an appointment at your salon now! Thanks for another great video!

Rara Avis: You’re such a master of your craft. I started watching these videos with the vague idea, of maybe doing something like this myself...but after watching a couple, I‘m like: Errrrhh...maybe not. This looks like a job for an expert! I would count myself lucky, if I found someone half as talented as you are.

Gig Life With Lexi: Great video Sylvia! Can you do more on blonde hair root touch-ups for us so it doesn't come out looking like a cheetah? I keep hearing hairdressers say they can tell when people do it themselves because of that look. Thanks again. :)

Vicki: Elle you are amazing! your skill with blonde hair colouring is no 1. and you are simply gorgeous in every way. Great vids.

Tracey Lynn: I love seeing your before and afters!!! Such amazing work!!! Thanks for sharing

Mama Loves the Beach!: I think this is EXACTLY what I need!! Beautifully done! How often would this client need to come back and what would the process be each time? Thank you!

Dreamerv4: You are amazing! It’s incredible what you can do. I wish the stylist in my city can be as knowledgeable as you! I have dark hair and my goal has always been to go lighter. I can never achieve it without it turning orange :(

T Bell: Would love to know what the cost of this procedure in the salon (in SF, CA) would be. Its important to know upfront when determining whether to attempt some element of the procedures in the salon or to risk doing some or all of the steps at home.

Nina Radford1977: Hi, I would love to know any methods that I can use on my blonde hair to correct a green tint from bleached hair. Love how talented you are. Xxx

Cristiann Milano: Hi Sylvia! Thank you for informative video. I do hair up from you in Marin. I usually allot 2 hours for roots along with hi/lo lights and cut and blow dry. I was curious the length of time you allot for the process you shared in your video? Also, what would you charge for something like that? I have such a hard time charging more for longer, thicker hair and multiple services. How do you display your rates? I love watching your videos whether it's hair or makeup. Keep 'em coming!

Vïëwër: Omg I know this video is older but you did a PHENOMENAL job! I wish you were my stylist Hope all is well! Stay safe & Happy New Year!

Lindsy Searl: You have so much talent. I love your passion! I am interested in your opinion on the matter that I have a lot of hair and a couple salons charged me extra just for a cut because of it. Is that fair business and/or shouldn't they disclose that before hand? I didn't complain but I was definitely shocked

Michelle Kenny: Hi! My hairdresser does a platinum blonde highlight all over and then uses a toner but my hair always ends up looking too silver after and I want it to look like a bright blonde! Any suggestions?

Brooke Bartels: Your hair color and shine looks so good! What have you done differently?

Brooke Bartels: Your hair color and shine looks so good! What have you done differently?

Daisy Baker: So gorgeous!! I have a question about the root tap. Did you use eq processing solution or eq crystal clear same as all over tone. I’m a bit confused because on video you said crystal clear but on the description only says processing solution. Thank you I absolutely love your videos very informative.

FannyGo: I am going to travel to SF just to get my balayage fixed. I want that perfect ashy balayage!

Abby Louthan: Doing this today!! Thanks for the pointers

Kimmy Cee: Beautiful work and you look amazing as always!!!!!

L Davis: You are just so beautiful inside and out. I hope you’re having a beautiful weekend! ♥️

Parasite Eve: Love your vids. I want to go blonde. I wish i could have you do my hair.

N H: This is kind of my problem at the moment which i don't know how to solve myself... But not only the banding i have brassy hair all trough the lenghts as well which even makes it harder to make it more even.

Maggie Bella: I really wanted to follow you ,even though you have excellent explanation but unfortunately for the ones who are beginning to start any process we need to see the transformation we need to see the explanatory video.

LatinJerseyGirl: You look stunning!!! Is there a blue shampoo that you recommend or is there a redken product that I can ask the salon I go to, to use so my hair doesn't get brassy? Great video & amazing transformation.

debbie Young: Beautiful job! I wanted to ask, what is it that causes banding?

Jillee Parker: Hey! Great video! question, did you mix the cover fusion With 7NA cover fusion (or a laquer?)

Lisa El Gran: Beautiful work!

Beauty and Long Locks: You are amazing sylvia, I would love to know what to use if I wanted to just do my roots? I have done in the past "ugh" I hate to say it clairol frost with the cap but I do not want to do that again. So I haven't used anything and my roots are bad now. Sylvia please help what can product I use? Thank you kindly

Karson Kirks: I feel like the flash lift with bonder always gets super spongy - do you mix 1:2?

Purple girl: Makes more sense looking at the formula. Thank you!

raychee: What Brand, Color & Developer do you use on your own hair! Your color is Exactly, what I want! I'm actually a licensed cosmetologist, but I've been out of the business for 15 years. Color wasn't a strong suit for me & didn't do much of it, having 2 businesses at nursing/Rehabilitation homes with the Elderly. Any info you give me would be greatly appreciated! My hair color is very close to the before color, in your double lift color/20 volume.. video. I don't have to lighten much. Thanks! Have a great day! Rachel

Olya_Olya: May I ask what toner do you have on your hair please? Beautiful work though

Fallon Zoey: I like seeing a Lil glimpse of your personality at the end. Your adorable. Love your videos! Xoxo

Jordan F: Help ideas for a salon name and go.... thank you!! With a very natural beach boho vibe and style

Alexandra Lengyel: What if I have yellow, orange and GREEN undertones also in my hair??! Every lack looks different

Blonde Ambition: Hi! How do you feel about Schwarzkopf highlifts?? Have you tried them for color correcting?

ickythump89: Please can you do a video on how to achieve a nice strawberry blonde at home?

Tess Del Rio: Damn this came out gorgeous!!! If youre interested in a deep color dive video, I would love to hear about how you choose a corrective toner for each situation. P, B, V, NA, N, VB, T- they all claim to cancel warmth and its VERY confusing! I'll see one toner family used a few times and feel like I'm starting to understand its purpose, then someone else will correct the same problem with a completely different formula and it sets me right back at zero. Please help! xoxo- struggling cosmo student

Judie Jud: I wish you had a video to show. It’s hard to just imagine.

HairCh3mist: What toner do you use on your hair?

AmyJacqueline G.: Dyson Hairdryer is worth the $. Fast, quiet, light, leaves hair smooth.

Erica M: Can you do a video showing the process instead of the pictures.... that would be so helpful..thanks for the vid

Ashley Wyatt: It would be nice to actually see the process with a voice over

Alice: Do you know anything or have any thoughts about the curly girl method, and using gentle cleansers etc?

Latavia Norris: I was in San Fran a couple years ago! Wish I would have known you then, I would've made a hair appt!

Mind Body SpirFit: I'd love to pay you for zoom Consult so you can tell me what I should do for Mt brassy roots but super Mushroom blonde everywhere else ! Please let me know how

waelon: So what I'm hearing is there is still hope for my hair

Blooming Accents: Can I ask , for my own hair, why did you do a root touch with the Shades 9n after you already did the permanent color 6nn? I would so appreciate your answer!

Rebecca: WOW, that is quite the transformation.

BlondiiLein1000: Great Video please more Videos about blond hair root Touch up at Home Instructions :)

lisajonesplus6: what alternate brand can be used if you have no access to redken? : )

AmyJacqueline G.: Confused. Did you highlight the root area with 10 vol and flashlight and then color with regrowth with 6N?

Аня Хабаева: Does 10 volume really lift?
