As I have transformed my hair throughout the years, I have become more and more and more myself. When my hair is looking good, I feel better than anything. My name's Rachel Raquel and I'm getting my hair transformed into an ink black color. Before you see my hair Transformation subscribe, below., I'm originally from Iowa.. I first came to L.A. when I was 16 and I started traveling back and forth working here for music and modeling.. When I was younger, I swore I would never dye my hair. And then when I first moved to L.A. six months in my best friend and I decided to dye my hair brown, but we accidentally box dyed from a dirty blonde into completely black.. It was terrifying at first., But then we actually realized that it was way more me than anything I had ever done and I've never felt more comfortable in my body.. I definitely think ink black will give me more confidence on stage when I'm performing., I feel like it will just make me - feel more umph. Good morning., I'm Courtney. Rachel. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you.. I hear we're doing a transformation to ink black today. Yes., My name is Courtney. Anna Mason., I'm a hair colorist at the Benjamin Salon., My favorite part about doing hair is helping people create the image of how they want to see themselves and making people feel beautiful.. Why don't you tell me a little bit about your hair? I have a perm. Okay. And then I had a balayage. And I think, they're still there. Okay. Ink black was definitely a good choice for Rachel because she has a perm., The color that we used on her won't cause any harm to it.. I'M gon na leave. It exactly as it is. This is my assistant, Hannah. Hi nice to meet you She's, going to get you ready for me and I'll be back in just a minute.. When I lived in Iowa, I was definitely a super super goody. Two shoes.: I had been trying to keep this reputation of this perfect person, since I was really really young. Part of that perfect person. Reputation in my mind, was never doing anything to my hair and being completely natural.. So once I started coming to L.A. and I kept getting bullied and bullied, I was like, what's the point of me, keeping up this perfect reputation? If that's not how I actually feel So, I think, moving to L.A. finally really got me into that state of mind of like just be you.. You ready Yeah. Alright.. Let'S do it.. Let'S do it Today. The products I used to create Rachel's ink black look was L'Oreal Richesse from roots to ends, and then I use Redken Shades to gloss it afterwards.. It'S definitely important to go to a professional to do something like this.. You want to make sure that you're putting the proper product onto your hair.. It definitely isn't as simple as just putting black color all over.. I love my current hair.. I'Ve been doing brown for a while now and I actually just got a perm.. So I've been rocking the curly hair vibe, but I get really bored really easily.. So I would like to keep the curls going. I'm down to like add a little more bangs fluff up the curls and full speed ahead., Let's go. Alright., So we're all done with your color.. I'M gon na send you off to your haircut and your blow-dry and I'm going to see you after.. This is Michael.. He'S going to be doing your haircut and blow-dry today., Hey Rachel., I'm Michael nice to meet you.. Alright I'll, see you guys later., Alright I'll! Let you know when it's all set. Have fun Bye. Thank you. So are you looking to reestablish some fringe today, Yeah like a hippie, bang., Yeah, no problem., Woo, that's black! For sure.! This is a look., I'm hyped. I constantly need to be changing things up and I'm that type of person that's like surprise., Here's me.. I did that with my perm and everyone was like ,''. Is this real? I don't know.'' Lately. I really like the natural mermaid look as opposed to a lot of different styling tools that you could use.. I like to air dry, the hair diffuse it using some product just to kind of scrunch to get that natural texture.. It tends to just be a little bit more soft and a little bit more fluid as Rachel or any client walks down the street.. You know it kind of has a little bit more bounce.. I think changing my hair, making that first big step when I moved to L.A. was so so important because you need to do what makes you feel beautiful and sometimes it's not the way you were born. Now more than ever, everyone's kind of realizing that. Thinking. You look good or liking your vibe, and your style is really important and a big step towards self-love. Ready to check it out. Oh wow, I love it., The curls look so good with it.. It looks so good. This love makes me feel more like me.. I know I've said that before. Everything turned out exactly how I wanted it to look. They're all there, the whole family and the family friends.. I love it. It looks so dramatic.. Oh it's gorgeous.. Thank you. Mama. Taking Rachel from light brown to ink black was a really fun transformation.. She wore it very well with her skin tone, her texture, her eye color.. It really has a very kind of unique vibe, which I think will be good for her.. She wants to stand. Out., It just feels so good and edgy and fun.. I definitely think it correlates with my music style. Because, like I said, I'm pretty hippie, but I'm still a little dark and edgy with everything.. I always look at myself in the mirror and I think oh, my god. Young Rachel would be like ``. What did you do? ?''? Because I was so paranoid with what people thought of me., But also at the same time, I feel like way better as the person I am today. And I don't think young Rachel even knew what was coming to her at all.. Thank you for watching Refinery29. To watch more videos, click here. And to subscribe click here.

Refinery29: What hair transformations would you like to see on Hair Me Out? Let us know in the comments below!

Justina George: whoever did her perm did her dirty. it looks like she just took her wet hair out of a messy bun.i thought at first maybe she just didn't know how to style curly hair but dang neither did the hairstylist wtf

Joa Santi: She is pretty and I love the black hair but every time she says “curls” referring to her hair, I cringe. Those are waves baby.

Nina Savic: The hairstylist: "Definitely isn't as simple as just putting black color all over it." Hmm, yes it is.

Not an evil Russian: I dyed my brown hair black too, it’s not a big deal. Idk why she’s acting like this is some sort of documentary

yasnabear: That hair was not light brown, except in sunlight. That hair wasn't curly. The hair in the end wasn't black, it's just dark brown.

Hey Lucas: So she needed to get bullied in LA to realize that changing herself is her being herself? Strange message

winterrrsea: There's really nothing more laughable than someone doing what everyone else does in order to be 'unique'. No one is themselves in LA, honey.

Tamar: Shes a beautiful woman with nice hair, but.. that stylist did her wrong. Disappointed with how the stylist did the hair. The color looks like box dye because it doesn't have much shine to it. The style looks like 2009 when girls were doing the "wet look" to get "curls" by using gel and tons of mouse. It all looks like it could've been done at home for $5, but you know that stylish probably charged 150 or more.

Jordan Justyce: Everyone is being so negative on this one! She looks beautiful with the black hair and the way she says “thank you mama” melted my heart

Rebeca Diaz: What had me concerned was when she said she constantly changes her hair so black will be tough to remove if she chooses to but overall it looks so good on her. Glad to see someone going dark for a change.

Hanna-Dora: The way she says "thank you, mama" melts my heart, it's so sweet. She's a gorgeous girl and I've always been a big fan of dark hair myself, so I was really happy to see someone going for black hair.

Haley: I don’t know why but I get a bad vibe off this girl I feel like she’s just faking who she is and not being herself

britt.b: What the hell is ink black I thought it was jet black

Parvati Mullunkal: She looks beautiful. Both the hairstyles suit her perfectly.

Jazzy Panther: Omg I love these vids, finally excited to see people go for the darkest rather than often the lightest! Hi refinery!

Sally M.: “Curls” OOF

Ms. Jay’s World: Even though the black hair is nice, it’s really really sad she felt the need to dye her hair and change herself because she was bullied in LA. She was extremely pretty in Iowa after all. ....it’s important to stand true to yourself no matter what the masses say. If she likes black hair, do it for herself no one else. And if you want black hair but strapped for cash, a jar of Overtone or Lunar Tides will get your hair jet black instantly without an expensive salon. Plus dyes such as Lunar Tides or Overtone are way more gentle than box dye.

Patri Sánchez: The black color: OK The bangs: Cool The "curls": well... let me tell you those are not curls, and they look really fried

Alina Julie: I love it! Finally a good hair transformation.. looks great on her!

Leonor Samayoa: Loved the haircut! The color too. Her hair looks healthy and shiny

missironmouse: I love this look! Would love to see her model a bohemian goth look, hope she gets hired for a gig like that :)

Maja Åström: Love this series so much! I’m going back to full blonde on the 23rd (I’m naturally dark sandy blonde), and I’m so excited! Feel my most self when really blonde ‍♀️✨ #ElleWoods

jimin's thighs rap mon's dimples: My natural hair color is medium/light brown and I'm darkening my hair for the past 4 years ranging from jet black to dark brown or brown/auburn. I never understood why everyone goes lighter. Especially with my super pale skin, it looks so nice in contrast.

C M: That's so pretty!! The bangs look super cute. Finally some black hair love!

StyledbyYules: I love this look! She's gorgeous!

Louise Fernández: amazing transformation, darker hair looks amazing on her

Ima Nelson: Liked how they applied colour on her eyebrows.

V’s Essence: Ignoring the fact that she keeps calling waves curls and that it’s really just a dark brown , the color is straight up stunning on her , straight up makes her glow

Jinesh NG: She looks really good with black hair

Sunshine: That “perm” is hideous they did her wrong but the color is amazing on her

Andrea Gonzales: I dyed my light brown hair black and can I just say I loved it. As a brown girl it was so cool to see myself with black Hair

Ashlee Paine: “i’m still a little edgy” *looks at outfit and makeup* yeah okay

D: I always look forward to these hair transformation videos!

Triona Byrne: Rachel looks Stunning with ink black hair!

Arrowverse.fan2021: EVERYTHING ABOUT THE NEW LOOK LOOKS REALLY GOOD ON HER, IT COMPLIMENTS HER SKIN TONE, SHE'S SO PRETTY.

Hannah Nikolaev: It looks really good on her!

musimuso: I’ve had my hair dyed ink black few years back and regretted it as I couldn’t dye a lighter color on my black hair once I got sick of the color. The hairdresser told me that I could only dye a lighter shade on my original hair color which then took a year or so to grow out and finally achieve the shade of brown I wanted. Lesson learnt

Jasmine McAlister: I'm surprised to say this, but the black hair looks AMAZING on her!!! Totally for her.

Kevin from The Office: Wow she looks bewitching!!! the color really accentuate her features and giver her eyes an intense look

Kristina “Christy” Marquez: I love it! I always color mine jet black in the Winter. It's my favorite!

Paola López: Technically you’re hair is wavy, but love the color

Priscilla Nieto: I have natural level 3 dark brown hair and get my hair colored to a level 1 jet black. I love the shine and depth it adds to my hair :)

Kiana M.: I love how he embraced her texture at the end!

jeffsycks: Wow! Super gorgeous! I love it!

Georgia: "Wow the curls look so good with it..." babe who you lying to hahahaha. Also I think she should've gone auburn or full on ginger, it would've suited her pale skin and blue eyes beautifully.

Andrea Barraza: I think she needs to talk to who ever “permed” her hair

toast: i imagined ink black having a blue undertone instead of looking like a deep brown color

FPW: my hair used to be a very light brown, almost blonde- but then I went to a super dark brown. its been 7 months, and I like it lots.

ruby thomas: Raven hair looks so beautiful with blue eyes, especially dark blue like Elizabeth Taylor!

Katharina V: Her wavy hair afterwards looks exactly like the one they have on episode when you customize your character

nippyreigne: That looked perfect on her!

Cristina: "The curls look so good" .. the WHAT LMAOOOO

B00_bit: Can I just say I LOVE her nose it’s so pretty !

CheerUp2: I think she would look really cute with short above brow bangs!

hannah west: The whole time the colour was going on I was stressing about the pastel pink dress I 100% would have ruined that in 0.1 seconds

Evelyn Tapia: I've been dyeing my hair black since I was 14 and now it's been a year since I stopped dyeing it. I thought I could use a break and let my light brown hair do its thing for once... watching this makes me miss having (blueish) black hair so much! Bahaha. Why do I do this to myself?!

H. P.: Who skips the video right to the end result? ‍♀️

Shatovisha _: I love my naturally straight ink black hair❤

Sadhana Singh: Both the female hair stylists are so gorgeous

allisya: this is a mess, i’m convinced that this channel cares more about quantity over quality.

britt.b: Where’s the curls in her “curly” hair??

Elise Scarpa: love it...I want to do mine. :-)

Anca Munteanu: All the girls who accept doing these hair me out videos are really brave since 90% of the comments here are mean and 70% of the tranformations are unfortunate.

Sarah Coates: I never say yes to a natural finish when I go to the hairdresser like I can do the natural look myself thank you give me a blow dry.

Blk Barbie: Love her denim top, it’s so cute!

MICHELLE WAYNE: Sooo gorgeous ❤ u go girl

zez93: I think dark hair suits her very well!

EyeRolling: Wow she looks amazing with black hair! Makes her eyes pop!

Vera delma: “Curls” I’m deceased

SuShii AeLin: Ahh she looks so good after~!!

SephoraRothschild: That's dark brown hair. Not black.

Arushi Sharma: Is it really self love when you are changing your whole natural look. Getting bored with your natural self and changing it, is not self love. It is dissatisfaction in your real, natural self. Nothing wrong in it. Just don't wrongly justify it as "self love". Just accept it.

TONY & ASIA'S MOM: People make changes when they feel it! This feeling may come second to second or every 10 years! Whatever, Do You!

Mayuri devan: The salon is looking so good and classic

Ivana Delic: It’s too flat on the roots, dry it upside down. Other than that, i love it! Btw. Go fiery red next time!

Bao Linh Nguyen: She looks really good after the tranformation

heba30003: Such a bad choice :( 1. Her initial hair had an AMAZING color. It suited her perfectly. 2. Her new color is not black but still brown, just a darker brown. It makes her look a lot more mature. Her skin tone isn't the right one for such hair color.

Youtuber: I can tell she would rock every hair colour

stevencasteel: Looks great. As a bald dude I'm jealous. It is harder to play with color up there since I don't wear makeup either. Black would look awesome with a bunch of outfits.

Michelle Marie: I like the color she had before but it's nice to see someone going dark

Jade: I dyed my hair black. I didn’t like it at first but it actually looks good on me and it matches my eyebrows cause they’re are naturally black

Miss Honey Never Came: I remember being blonde and everyone was babying me. Really annoying. Then I want jet black and people stopped messing with me as much.

Ronda Smith: I love my ink blue black hair that I get with henna!! I'm a FOREVER dark hair lover

Radhiya Van Gobel: i love how black makes her eye color more pop out.

Anna García: She looks so good!!!!!

Naomi: It’s too dark for her skintone..... but atleast she stands out now

Jessica Shemone: HAIR LOOKS VERY DRY....ALSO THE PERM LOOKS LIKE SHE JUST AIR DRIED WET HAIR

Taylormoon: 'Isn't as simple as putting a black colour all over' okay but i dyed my my hair one time with semi permanent artic fox type dye and it turned out so much better

Jennifer G: The black hair looks soo much better girl! You look stunning

u w u: she's so beautiful! love the way she pulls off everything:)

Mariahkierra Dye: Y’all be turning hair colors into documentaries lmfao hunny it’s a hair color yes I admit it’s fun but it ain’t really that deep it’s cute tho

Edilsa Cruz: I loved the color on her... but every time she said “curls” .

Diana Vee: Her waves is how my hair looks out the shower

Mercedes Johnson: “Rocking the curly hair vibe” mmHmm

pinkdolphin66: it looks so good!

S.: The black really suits her. The haircut needs a little help, though.

Hely Subervi: “Curls” where tho? You mean waves ...

Larissa: black is definitely the perfect color for you!

Theo: "This feels so good, and edgy, and fun" Me: ....wut...your hair legit only got like 3 shades darker.
