I wanted to go bright and do a vibrant color, and I thought why not just really just make it bright and big and really just head to toe top to bottom go all in. Hi, I'm Nicole. And today I'm getting plum hair.. Before you see my transformation subscribe below., I want plum hair, because it is something that I have always wanted to have: the courage to do for myself. Dye, my hair, a fun bright color from top to bottom. And in quarantine. I thought it would be a really great opportunity to get to do that.. My current hair makes me feel fine. For a long time. I let my hair grow and just it kind of got to the point where it was like below my butt. And once I donated over 16 inches of hair. I felt like I fully released that control. And once I let go of something like that, where I let somebody else take a little bit of that control, I had more freedom and more fun., And that allowed me to open up to the opportunity to do something. Like this., Hey guys, I'm Marilyn., I am a stylist and colorist at Bomane salon here in Beverly, Hills. Hi, Nicole nice to meet you.. So what are we doing today? I want to dye my hair plum. Ooh plum.. Alright, let's get started., So I think plum. Hair is trending because we are going into fall., It could be big and drastic, or it can be a light subtle change when it comes to plum colors.. I am most anxious about waking up tomorrow and not remembering I did this. And my hair is going to be purple.. So first I mixed two different formulas, one being different for her root and one being different for her ends. And then I start applying the color. From mids to ends staying an inch away from her root. So she doesn't get a hot root. And a hot root is a root that is lighter than the normal achieved.. After applying the color through her ends throughout her whole head, I applied to her roots.. I apply color block around her hairline, so her hairline and her skin don't turn red.. And then I let her process for 45 minutes under a shampoo, cap., 20 minutes under the heat and then 25 minutes cooling down.. And then I take her back to the shampoo bowl, give her a thorough, shampoo, shampoo, her twice if needed. And then I apply the conditioner scalp through ends, because she just went through a major color process. And I leave the conditioner in.. I get a little bit of color remover to get the color off her skin around her hairline. And then once I'm done with that, I rinse out the conditioner and bring her back to the chair for the final look.. The final step is applying a heat and thermal protectant and oil., So her hair is nice and soft after the blowout and style., And I blow her out with some nice fancy waves. And finish her off with a curling iron. Perfect.. Are we ready, Oh god.? You can open your eyes. No way There. You are my dear., Your eyes, pop. Wow. Look how vivid your eye color looks.! Oh! This is not what I was expecting. Seeing the reveal in the mirror was super super super dope.. It was not what I was entirely expecting, which made everything really fun.. Overall, I feel really excited to have something new and different to try., And I think that this came out really great.. What I recommend for people that want to keep their hair. That color is coming in every six to twelve weeks for a new gloss or just to refresh your roots., Using a color, safe, shampoo and conditioner, and also possibly getting a shower head filter.. My hair feels really light and fluffy and smooth and airy and just beyond healthy.. I am most excited about seeing my hair in the sun and seeing how the light is going to catch it in a different color and being able to have fun with that and be more playful with that.. This is going to help boost my confidence and give me a new pep in my step and really help me just see myself in a different light completely.. It is a really great new, exciting thing that I get to have and play with.. Thank you for watching. Refinery29. To watch more videos, click here. And subscribe click here,

Refinery29: Have you ever dyed your hair a seasonal shade? Share with us below!

Izwan Mohd. Isa: Plum should be something in between brown, red and violet. Her hair color after is kinda like deep magenta? Idk but it looks super gorgeous! It makes me wanna have the same color as well!

Ally Shih: Did anyone else feel a bit wary after seeing how fried the stylist's hair is?

Gabby Matus: Nice color but if I asked for plum I would be upset. Plum is more purple this is very red.

Jess: My first thought was... That's red. And I feel like she was disappointed and trying to be nice "this was not what I was expecting"...

Jordan Sainte-Marie: “I’m going to wake up with purple hair tomorrow” “Let’s make sure her skin doesn’t turn red” LITERALLY EVERY VIDEO IN THIS SERIES IS A FAIL

Kennedy Dumas: “I’m putting color block on her forehead and edges because I don’t want them to be red “ Didn’t she ask for purple/plum

not a pinterest girl: i don’t know why but her hair looks so much thicker and healthier after!

Hannah B: Isn't plum supposed to be purple? I mean the color looks good on her and I love the fact that she donated her hair.

Patri Sánchez: 3:43 Her: ooh this is not what I was expecting... Me: of course not, you were expecting purple not red!!!

grace: that’s crazy she got that color without bleach!

brynn h.: this series is a joke. all of the stylists do a terrible job. the color is really pretty, but it’s nowhere close to plum

Jessica Shemone: Reds are super easy to get on virgin hair but a huge pain getting rid of. Wish the stylist would have added some highlights and low lights in it to give some definition

A.L.: It looks so good!! Wow! Her hair looks so shiny and bouncy at the end. Beautiful color. She can always layer a purple color on top later if she wants, but I think this looks beautiful on her! And I would definitely call this a plum color.

Simone H: Has anyone in this makeover series actually walked away with what they asked for

Ana Anurag: She looks absolutely gorgeous! Loved this transformation!

Uncle Iroh: this video was super calming, i really love this series and how her hair turned out

Amal: Wow that plum shade looks soo good on her .. soo pretty

Milla: It’s more red than plum.

Tiffany S: Pretty! But it does look a bit more on the red side, like a cranberry! Still nice though

Maya Williams: This looks amazing! a beautiful complimentary color. I see what people are saying about “plum” but this is a very nice cranberry/berry color. i hope the customer is happy, cause this is gorgeous!

Cecilia Lopez: I have the same hair color & I love it! never going back to dark hair. It makes me feel so unique & adds to my look

Alina N: Wow! This colour looks stunning on her, i love it !

Moozler: Color totally suits her, well done ladies ❤️

microsoftpainenthusiast: I would name this color “retired woman from Eastern Europe”

Anne Wagner: Okay, the colour looks bomb on her!!! ❤️ suits her so well.

saffron fields: I’m here for it: it made a huge impact and looks so shiny.

Elizabeth Deen: I... love.. this colour! It is definitely more a rich cranberry colour than a wine or plum but the end result is gorgeous and flatters her! I didn't even notice her eyes before and after you can't not notice them. Its gorgeous. I want that on my head. ❤

Cassandra Quezada: How cool would it be to actually end up being in one of these videos and show others the change you’d be getting in your hair! I honestly can’t wait until the next dime I dye my hair again :)

Anna TF: Don’t get me wrong... her hair looks really cute! Im not sure thats the color she asked/was looking for tho...

Alessandra Donnelly: Wow, I love this shade for fall!

Valerie: Gorgeous!!! That looks amazing on her! ❤️

Victoria Bell: "this is not what i was expecting" yeah considering you asked for purple and she gave you red..

Jonatan Pereira: People in the coment section mad about “this is not plum” but she likes the result so ‍♂️ her opinion is the only that matters

Jenny Bachmann: Not what I was expecting when she said she wanted "plum", but the color suits her really well and it is a beautiful shade!

MoMo Meditation & Histories Mysteries: I'd want my $$$ back. Sorry this IS NOT PLUM.

Helen Logue: Wow this is the first color job from this series that looks flawless and actually compliant the client!

enid: It's really pretty! It suits both her skin and eyes! ❤

Lulu Bati: I think this was a great job. It looks amazing.

Nneka A.: Love how the new color makes her eyes POP!

MathIsAwesome: wow that is such a well done job!! that hairdresser really did a great job

Vane Y.: She looks great in this color! Really did bring out her eyes

stralligraphy: the color suits her so well i love it!!

Maxine 96: I expected something else when I read "plum". But it suits her very well!

SlowLee: She looks stunning, I love the color

Laura M: Beautiful hair colour. She really suits it.

Kd: Her eyes really did pop after. Looks amazing- so fun too!

skepticat: Oof, I wouldn’t trust a hairstylist who’s hair is fried, dry, and has roots that she hasn’t touched up.

Indhu K: I wish I get my hair coloured like this someday✨

Rianne Brissette: I wouldn’t have thought of that color as plum (though there are red plums out there.) But this color looks great on her!

Draw_with_Fin: Hey there!1) I love this Chanel 2) this is such a fun series because it’s people who are usually trying something which I find is cool

Brianna D: It’s a little more magenta than plum but I think it looks so good on her and brightens up her complexion

J.J Harper: She said PLUM not cranberry.....still looks good on her

C M: Definitely more red than plum but it looks SOO pretty and amazing for Fall

Kimberly Spears: This comment section never disappoints... I will say that sometimes purples don’t film well, but this is definitely much more red than purple.

Sabrina Garcia: This actually looks AMAZING!!!!

David C: honestly this colour is amazing on her

Isabela Morais: The color is PERFECT and now I want to dye my hair too

Amy W.: The color totally compliments her skintone ☺️

callie hilton: Her hair looks soo good!

Reandra Nisbet: I dyed my hair this colour on Sunday in my door room by myself I love it was my first hair dye ever on my virgin hair

Rylee Maul: I absolutely love it that color totally rocks you

María Matmos: She looks awesome with that colour!!!

Lauren Jewel: I would love to see a 4C curly girl get her hair shaped in a salon!

Sevi Regis: Came out a beautiful deep red. Plum has more blue- purple in it, which she could fix on the next visit or with a color shampoo at home. Really pretty as it is, though.

Dani Marie: This color is so beautiful!

olive: I love watching refiner29 Hair me out videos because they literally always go poorly lol

Idan949: I would call that hair color mahogany, definitely not plum. But she looks great, it suits her a lot.

Pumpkin's Corner: This color seriously works for her!

Ciara Diamond: Honestly this looks great it’s redder I think than she wanted but it fits her SO WELL this might be the best makeover theyve done

manisha kanwar: I love her hair color. It's more lively now and go with her personality

sweetxheartx: If I were Nicole as soon as the colorist finished washing my hair I would have said "after drying my hair your adding purple over this right? Colorist: o_o?? Colorist: hhhh so you wanted an Aubergine type of color. Nicole‍♀️: Aubergine, Burgundy, Wine, Plum, Eggplant, as long as it's a DARK PURPLE TYPE OF SHADE PLEASE!!!!! Yes I know some of these colors come in deep red shades but for the most part a lot of them carry a blend of purple within. If there's still confusion over the color you want my advice is show them a picture of the exact color because there is so much variation between colors and shades.

j clancy: I was really hoping she really would have made her hair plum that would have looked amazing on her

Tee Hamster: I thought plum was slightly different. Either way, it looks amazing. Idk why but I feel like a true plum would’ve suited her better.

DreamyCarnation: I'd be so livid. I'd definitely request she fix it and give me what I actually asked and paid for. Like what even happened? Did we miss an obvious miscommunication or something??

Maxwell T: I think people just look forward to complaining about this series now. This color looked great on her! It looked red-violet to me, which is what my plums usually look like. Dictionary definition: "plum: an oval fleshy fruit that is purple, reddish, or yellow when ripe and contains a flattish pointed pit."

steph: This is literally what I think of when I think of Plum!! Perfect

Alannah Dexter: This is bomb and so cute i love it❤️

Nadja K: Idk why people keep saying that this isn't plum. Plums can be Magenta or dark purple or even navy in color. I do think this color resembles plums and it looks gorgeous and suits her better than any blue toned plum colour would have looked like.

Gina Karst Eie: This color suits her so wellll oh my god

Violeta Strata: she looks so amazing

Sarah Baqi: I didn't know plum was code for red

MIO: Looks soooo good omg!!!

Martha Duah: She looks great! The color really suits her and do make her eyes pop.

Ashley B: It looks good on her

Mind Of Mar: Her: I want to dye my hair plum Stylist: dyed it a red shade Me: uh... Her: I love it! Also me: Did I miss something?

Lau. E.: I've always wanted this color!!

Oana1989Productions: I wouldn't feel comfortable for a stylist to have such damaged hair, taking care of mine. Also, that is not the color she has asked for. That is cool toned deep pinky-red, not plum, like she asked for.

Berit: What a gorgeous jewel tone!

Amber Hess: Not plum but she loves it and so do i!

washedbywaves: That is not plum. Its pretty but not what she asked for.

Elvis Cobb: It looks great on her.

Kelsi miquel Hubler: Omg obsessed finally a bomb hair transformation video. Usually the results are not at all what the client asks for but she did the dang thing

RedHairedRiot: I know they don’t show the consultation but first thing I’d do is take out google and say “what does the color ‘plum’ look like to YOU?” And in a situation like this I would recommend direct dyes “Oh this is not what I was expecting” (To be 100 though the rich red looks hot on her. Makes her skin and eyes pop. Looks like Ariel.)

dancechica: I'm glad the color came out more red than plum, it would have been too dark against her pale skin. That red looks way better on her!

Lindsay Rebecca: Wow her hair came out perfectly. No patchiness or brighter shade at top. I’m jealous, this is a great colour on her.

Moist Crumpet: It doesn’t really look plum, but it’s a good colour.

Megan Goins: I would be sick if I went in for plum hair and walked out a red head

Sophie Spector: That’s red not plum. “Not what I was expecting” indeed.

Daisy Rosario: Love the color!
