#remove #hair #color

Hey guys in today's video I'm going to talk about how to remove artificial hair color from your hair. So basically, this is for all the girls that have emailed me or messaged me and wanting to remove color from their hair, which they've probably died like a red or a dark brown, and they are tired of it and they want to remove it. So there are a few ways going about this, but there are if there was one awesome, foolproof way that you could just do it and it's a damage, free and great and completely removes hair color in one go. That would be amazing, but unfortunately that is not the case. First thing I would recommend doing is doing a color remover. So it's a kit. You can get at most Beauty Supply stores. I believe even some drugstores may have a kit like this. So basically it's like you mix a couple things together. You apply it to the hair, it smells terrible and then you wash it off and basically will remove as much as possible. So you can do this two times. I'Ve heard of some girls even doing it like three times so, if you've done it twice and then you still have some artificial color that you want to remove, then you have to take more drastic measures. So if you've been doing hair color for a very very long time, these color removers, most likely will not work so then the second step would be to do a bleach wash so by doing a bleach wash basically doing only ten volume, and you can actually do Like an actual bleach job, which you can kind of just apply to the hair, you know let process for five five minutes or so and then shampoo it out or you can do it where you actually mix it with some water and some shampoo, where the hair Is wet and you kind of just do basically a bleach bath and basically so you're just lifting enough to get that color off, but not enough to like really actually bleach and lighten your hair. And so that would be the more drastic, but definitely the more probably effective way of getting color out of hair now. Is it the best way, of course not because it will leave it more damaged and most the time when people want to remove color, they don't necessarily want to go lighter. They just want to remove that artificial color. So just keep that in mind. If you do the color remover kit, it will not affect your basically your curtain here it is just removing the color, but if you do do light nur, then yes, it will kind of slightly light. Your hair now the second and very, very important thing about removing artificial color from hair. The best way to explain this is to give you a scenario so imagine that your hair is about a natural level 6, and you have some highlights on it. So I'll show you here level 6, with a level 6 with some highlights then say you were over it. You wanted gorgeous dark hair and you dyed it with a say a level 4. So this is what you were left with as soon as you did it day later, you hated it. You want it to go back to this so doing the color. Remover will get you as close to this as possible now a lot of people. What they do think is that color remover will also remove those highlights and just get you to your natural color. That is not the case. This color remover will not remove lightness because lightness is already removing pigment from your natural hair. So all this color remover is going to do is remove artificial color, so any lightness. Any previous highlights that you had that's going to show through. So and a lot of girls have asked that a lot of girls have done this at home and said like. Why do I have highlights? I wanted to just remove the brown? Why do I have highlights? And it's because at one point you had highlights, then you covered it with this brown. So if you are removing this artificial color, you are left with. You know these light bits. Another thing that can happen, and so you didn't have any highlights but say you used a high lift or another color. That was just a color that had a slight bit of lift to your hair. So say you were going from say a level 5 and you got basically a 6. So just one level lighter, but it's all toned and all of that and beautiful but say you're, tired of that and you do use a color removing kit on this. What'S going to end up happening? Is you're going to be left really brassy, because the only thing that it's deposited is she tones to balance? If you remove those ashy tones you're not going to go back to your original darker color you're, going to be left with the undertones that the lifting has done to your hair. That makes any sense, so it can be a little confusing, but basically imagine that the color remover kit only removes dark, pigments or actual colors like reds or teals or that kind of stuff. It doesn't remove or change the lift that you've done to your hair and then again, bleach is kind of the more drastic approach. If you really need to like strip that color out of your hair. So those are the two ways. There'S many other ways. I think this is what I would recommend at home. This is, if you are just so desperate, and you really just want something kind of quick and something that is not going to be too crazy into where you get awful results at home. So this is kind of will stick to these two ways. I hope that this has given you enough understanding to where you can choose, which one it is that you need hope. This has helped for any of you that have color right now that you are not happy with. I hope this helps you get closer to what and your dream hair is. So. Thank you so much for watching. Please click subscribe right here. If you haven't yet, and as always, I will be back with more hair tips and more hair videos. Thank you. So much for watching bye,

candice l: finally a hairdresser who doesn't tell people their only option is to spend lots of money on several bleaching treatments and damage the hair in the process. you are so knowledgeable and down to earth :)

AlexandrasGirlyTalk: You're amazing ❤️ thank you for this

Angie: Can I do a bleach wash to remove henna from my hair?

Natalie King: This was explained so well, thank you!

Diane Lopez: I love your videos!! QUESTION: What is the best flat iron for thick hair?? I have thick hair & I have a lot! I love putting my hair down, but most days I end up pulling it up in a pony tail. I'm a working mom with 2 kids under 4 & I'm usually running around making sure they have everything & have stopped taking care of myself much. I also have hypothyroid & that's changed my hair. I use to get compliments all the time of how beautiful my hair was & I would curl it & straighten it. I love it! But now I have little time to spend on my hair & my texture is just frizzy. I never had that problem before the thyroid problem. :( So every time I buy a flat iron it doesn't leave my hair straight or silky like it use to. It's still puffy & frizzy. I have like 4 or 5 flat irons I've abandoned, because I feel I don't get the results I want. So I would like your help PLEASE!!!! I want to feel good about myself again. I want to love getting ready & styling my hair down. <3

MJT: I have naturally dark blond hair with a lot of gray. For years I highlighted it every 3 months to camouflage the gray which worked well. Then I decided to color it dark blond. I’ve only done it 3 times (starting last November). I liked the color, but despise the maintenance (every 4 weeks). I tried the vitamin C method to try to remove the color. It’s lighter, but a very golden blond — not good! I’ve been growing it out during the quarantine so about 4 inches are my natural (dark blond with lots of gray) color. It’s not cute! Would you recommend the color remover for my situation? I wish I’d never colored it. Any tips you have would be helpful and much appreciated. I live in a very small town, and don’t know if my stylist even knows how to fix this once they reopen. Blue shampoo? Anything?

Karina Virgo: You are the best at explaining hair processing/dying etc

Deana Winn: This was great. Every video I've watched I've been looking for THIS EXACT information...You have answered most of my questions...THANKYOU X

Taylor Gordon: Good tips! I would definitely recommend going to a salon and having them use olaplex though!! Minimizes damage almost entirely! That stuff is magical :) I would never lift without it!

Snoopy’s girl: Huge fan of your every day no makeup makeup look.." you pull it off so amazingly ! love it ! your so stunningly doll like beautiful !!! :)

Arejay Noble: Thank you so much! A hairdresser willing to give honest advice

Reachless: I love this sort of (technical) video's! Please do them more often.

Maria Torres: Hi I recently discovered you! I really appreciate your expertise in icy hair coloring. I'd like to know more info on how to find the perfect root color when the rest of you hair is icy blonde. I feel like no matter what level 7 dark blonde or light brown color I choose, it always ends up looking orange and brassy near the roots. Please help :/

MySunnygirl: Great videos! Can you please help with my going blonde again dilemma? What would you suggest for getting rid of the green/ karkee colour on the ends after dying with natural henna a few times? I had done the colour remover and bleach bath to get a light blonde and the ends were that kak colour.. I know red cancels it out but want a blonde outcome. ( I freaked and put a hazelnut box dye to hide the multicolour hairdo ) Should I just cut it and start again or is there hope removing the end green colour? Thanks heaps and lovin your hair! :-)

Bailey Pickett: I went platinum last night, I’ve done it several times…my hair was perfectly toned except just a few tiny places that weren’t totally even and had a little brass still so I was going to go for a level 7 neutral blonde and it came out a super. Coppery medium brown I used ion and all that bleach damage for nothing trying to lighten it up with heavy shampooing but it’s not budging. Any advice anyone??

Rosalin: This is a must video for my library, you are so appreciated! Heaven has given you your wings for so many people you have helped, thank you a billion for everything you do!

Mari D.: You are honestly gorgeous! Love your videos. They are very helpful! :) Xoxo

nancy windbigler: I think I've watched most of the hair color videos and yours was the most concise!! You didn't go on and on in a silly voice about things that had no relevance. Thank you!!

Rockskittles: Hi. I had bleached my hair around February 2014 to a platinum blonde color and then dyed my hair to a dark brown (with red tones to counteract the ash) at the end of January 2015. I haven't re-dyed it the brown color since March of 2015 and a lot of my natural hair that is a dark brown color is grown out. So basically I have dark brown hair fading into a reddish colored light brown because the dark brown dye over the bleach is fading away. Should I use the color remover or will it damage or affect my natural hair growing in? I don't want to use any chemicals on the natural because it is growing in really healthy.

LE0N_ch: this helps me alot, I've had dyed hair for 5 years now and I usually don't go into using anything with red undertones because I don't really know how to get them out. I also wasn't sure if hair removers would remove my bleached hair, but now that i know it just brings my hair back to its bleached point/close to it. I feel a bit reassured in case i mess up my hair color.

dominique: Hi! A few weeks ago, I had gotten my hair done by my co-worker. I have a grown out balayage- my roots/natural hair color is between a level 5-6 dark ash blonde. She had applied a level 8AB (Redken) to my roots with a 10vol developer- we thought nothing of it- as color doesn't lift color, and my hair wasn't a level 8 naturally to begin with and we use a 10volume.. Well after rinising and drying my hair is probably a level 7 now anf I'm not exactly sure why it lifted but to make a long story short.. I had been growing my roots out for MONTHS now in hopes that I would eventually be back to my natural color after all artificial color was cut off and gone. Now I fear that I'd have to start all over again with the growing out process, or color over top what I have now do you have any suggestions as to why this happened or what I can do? I'm not very familiar with Redken.. Thanks!!

Tamara Ventura: Do I have to use a toner after the color removing kit? Will my hair turn orange?

Kristina Sandnes: I highlighted my hair, then dyed it dark brown seven months ago. Obviously I have lots of aftergrowth, but there are still a lot of colored hair left. If I want a medium blonde color, what do I do? Remove the color, but what about the roots..? Do I have to highlight it? xx

Kristen LoGiudice: Fantastic and thorough. You're awesome. So grateful!!!

Chelby Coppedge: bless your soul i love you so much right now!! going from a dark brown at the root to light brown/dark blonde ombré and im going to go back blonde but i had no idea how to take all the brown off without bleaching. Thank you so much :)

Beth Clark: You're a doll thanks so much for doing this really answered my questions you are the BEST!!!! XOXO

Scarlett Hopson: I dyed my hair with a level 4 cool brown a few months ago. The color has since faded, which I'm liking. Could I use a color remover to get rid of the deposited pigment, and then use a high lift brown to lighten out the red orange it'll probably be?

Amy Chloe: Hi! I was a level 9/10 blonde. I was dyed a dark brown with a demi colour. I believe my hairdresser used a filler colour before doing this. It has been 7 months since having my hair dyed brown, so most of the dark pigment has washed out. I am now a light warm brown. If I use a colour remover, will I return to blonde? Any advice or opinions are appreciated :)

DevineSpecimen: Hey gorgeous! Does color lift at home make it easier for stylists to lift your hair to a blonde? Does bleach respond well to hair that has been color lifted? Thanks!!!

More Clothes Than Sense | Logan Lynn Spain: Great information! I learned so much!!

TheYesteryearGirl: Is there a specific color remover that you would recommend? I dyed my hair a level 3 permanent black and loved it for a few months and then as it started fading I hated it - I haven't had much experience with coloring my hair so I assumed I could just put another color on top and it would cover it - so I recently dyed my hair a medium auburn (also a level 3 permanent box color) which is very close to my natural hair color and it (obviously) only colored my new virgin hair at the top - so I essentially gave myself hot roots and it looks awful (hence the searching YouTube for solutions). Thanks so much!!

Natalie B: How do you remove green from your hair? I lightened my ends then put on a directions temporary dye which has stained! I've done some research and bleaching it makes it brighter and dying brown over it, it seems to come through! Any tips? Xx

Melissa: I used the remover from sallys that comes in the yellow box... It may have been the worst smell I've EVER smelt and it lingers for a few days. It did a good job though

Adela Ramirez: thank you so much for these great tips!! You're awesome:)

Lizeth Gaytan: Great video... Very informative!

Joanne Swales: Silva, I visited a new hairdresser to have my roots done (my hair was light blonde), she put huge slices of dark brown in my hair. A recommended salon are now trying to rectify this but it's a horrible colour of mousy brown. Any suggestions on how to get back to blonde x

Adrianna Papas: Hello! Does this work for henna’d hair? I dyed my hair with Lush Caca Rouge 3 months ago and I want to remove the color. It’s a copper orange now and I want to get back to a strawberry blonde. If not what can you recommend? Love your videos!

Msbravado: Color oops from Walmart / target/ cvs etc. works great. It’s my go to everytime I want to get rid of dye. No bleach in it either. It never really damages my hair

Janice Sparkles: Your so helpful!! Thank you so much

DarlaRenee13: I love your videos!! AND your hair!! Could you possibly do a video on what blonde you use? It looks so healthy and perfect shade of blonde!

Heather Scaife-Arkley: Elle, since I just recently was a level 10 in a cool blonde toned. Did my own highlights 2 wks ago, needed a toner -used kenra VS with 9vol (cosmoprof mngr) advised to! Hair came out lilac!! I freaked, root was peachy/ends lilac. I was a MESS yesterday I caved and took 5MED Golden Brown all over my head. I WANT my blonde back- Help❗

Jadira Ortega: I just found this channel today, I love it so much!!! I’m I’ve learned so much by just watching a few videos ❤️❤️

Epiphany Esquina: Do you think this would work for black box dye? I’ve been to a salon and the color WAS lifted but when we did a bleach wash, the color reactivated and reset the process we made that day. I was at a level 1 but now I’m between a 5-4. The ULTIMATE goal is to be an 8 but a 7 is okay too.

Dacoda Lux: What if you just want to fade it one level? The dye I used just came out a little too a shy and a little too dark

AmyDsm: What I learned here is to NOT try and remove color at home myself. :)

crackerjack4u: I bleached my hair and damaged the crap out of it going from dark brown to about a level 8-9. That was 3 years ago. I decided to apply a demi color and just let my hair rest, and heal. I've been using the same color ever since then, but I'm tired of chasing the gray, and want to transition to my natural gray. But the issue is that the Demi color is now stuck in the back of my hair, and will not budge. The front and sides the color is almost gone but the back is almost as dark as it was at the beginning. I've not colored it for at least 6 months, and have washed the heck out of it with sulfate shampoo, putting epsom salt in my bath water, tried Vit C an dandruff shampoo and clarifying shampoo-more than once, color remover twice, but this demi crap ain't giving up. As bad as I hate to I'm thinking I probably am going to have to do a bleach bath on it, and hope it pulls this mess out. I've heard of others using developer, baking soda, dish liquid, and purple shampoo, and some others just using Plain 10 or 20 volume developer and it removing their color.(I've not tried either of those. Will either of those work to remove Demi color, and be less harmful than a bleach bath?) LOL I guess you can tell I'm really dreading the thought of using bleach again because bleaching the last time cost me 16" of hair. When a person's hair has been damaged by bleach how likely is it that a quick bleach bath will start the breaking cycle over again on the remaining hair that was beached damaged before?

Beijo enorme !

Tracey leigh: Hey, plz help! So I bleached my hair (full head) then put a permanent dark brown on top. I now want to go Auburn. Will a Colour remover take away the brown and leave me with the bleached blond? So I can then add the lighter colour. Hope you see my comment :)

Kirsty Macfarlane: I'm doing a bleach bath because my hair is a level 4 which looks almost black. I have a level 6 so I'm hopeful that the 20 volume will be enough to lift it. I did phone my hairdresser and he said that it will work. The annoying thing is I don't necessarily want it lighter it just needs some oomph to it and the only way I'm going to get that is to experiment with lighter shades of brown. Best bit the level 4 was meant to be medium brown, I got it from Sally's thinking it would be better than box dye which I've used for years! Fingers crossed it turns out a nice medium brown and I'll get high and low lights put through it the next time I go to my hairdresser but I'll be keeping my base around a 6 from now on. Thanks for the advice beautiful xx

L: Your makeup and that blouse looks perfect on you, looks like you're already in springtime hehe. :D

Sonali Manka: Glad you uploaded this video. I wanted to go dark but now I know how to remove it when I'm over it it's easier.

Maria Love: Hi , I have a question . I have recently bleach my hair and achieve the level of your hair in this video .. after a few days I dyed it brown / chestnut and it faded in some areas giving me blonde and chestnut highlights. If I use colorfix , will it remove all the brown and chestnut back to the blonde ?

Thriving Happiness: Hii ‍♀️, thanks for this video! Will a color remover kit help to get rid of a plant based hair color in de color 45 Chocolate? I used Bigen for the last year and really want to go back to my natural color which is directly under this color (dark/ash blonde). But I don't want to damage my hair. Thanks in advance for the help!

Kathy Sorensen: Any advice on getting rid of the rotten egg smell from my hair after the color remover?

Francesca: I have 15 years of red boxed dye in my hair. I just want it healthy and something more natural like a brown with some highlights. My hair has breakage and is now thinning. I’m so scared to even bleach it but it seems like the only way

Brianna Elizabeth Freedman: Your hair looks amazing in this video

FGA: you are a life saver!!!!!!!! seriously thank you so much for the info

Ashley Guzman: One of my favorite channels, thank you!

Holly Jaye: FINALLY! Someone who knows what they are actually talking about!!! Im gonna do the bleach wash with some shampoo and 10 developer. THANKS!

Holly Hunyor: I decided to add a plum / burgundy ombre to the bottom of my hair, and it has faded terribly. Now it's a brassy red color. If I use a color corrector, like "color oops," would it affect my natural color at all? I don't care that my highlights will show, but I've heard that it may lighten your natural color (that isn't highlighted) in the process. I want my ashy level 5 brown hair back (my natural color)!!!

somethinggood: Thank you! Im gonna get color remover and do a strand test first! Excited to try

Lucca Scionz: omg i love this shade of blonde !! what products did you use to achieve this color !

lily jones: I've gone from a natural level 8 to around level 4-5, would a colour remover do much but make it go ginger?

Megan Schultz: That color looks great on you! ☺️

Esther Garcia: Do you recommend removing permanent hair color with baking soda or vitamin c ?

twinklybones: (Hopefully) quick question: I had light blonde ombré hair a couple inches of my natural hair at the top. I dyed my hair brown to get close to my natural hair color twice and it's too dark now. I used Sally's ion hair dye and I don't want to try color removing it if it won't turn out well. Anyone can answer if they have any ideas!!

Sopia Martinez: I've had my hair box colored red/ burgundy for 20 years and now i want to go blonde.will a color remover help or should I do a bleach wash? any suggestions

Gisselle R: love your videos ! ? i did a bleash wash on my hair 2 days ago i removed the red. now im left with gold orang hair that i toned . when do you think is a good idea to depost color and highlight my hair again ? im scared and dont want to loose my curly hair .thank you i would really appreiate your advice .

Kamila Wright: Can I mix color remover with Olaplex? If yes, how will be the measure? Thanks

Lee: Any advice around applying vitamin C to your hair?

Larissa Kam: My hair was bleached and was ombre blonde for about a yr. My virgin hair is actually dark brown. After the ombre I box dyed my hair red for another yr and a half, so every few months I would do another round of dying it. A month ago I went to the salon and they couldn't do much to make my hair blonde again saying that it's hard to strip that color so they tried to dye my hair light brown, and now I feel like I'm stuck with the color, what should I do to cleanse my hair and strip the colors so I can get back to the first ombre blonde color I had?

groovyfaroutofsightneato67: Would a color remover remove low lights ? (For example : I had dark hair and now it has lighter Carmely lowlights)

Marjorie Norman: What is your formula for the bleach wash? I have been dying with perm dye from sally s beauty supply wella. I am wanting to just cave and go to my gray. Any ideas? I appreciate your professionalism

Evelyn Samantha: Color remover still damages your hair tho /:

shelby bevell: Does this remove box dye?

Delikatessia: Hi, how do I fix my hair? It looks like the pic on the screen at 4:20 minutes in. What can I do to remove the remaining red (and orange) tones. I’m normally a level 5 (or 4 at summer).

Anna A: Love your videos. I've learnt so much from you. Would you ever come to Denmark with Adam? Or I might have to fly to SF to have my hair done by you :)

Whitney Evans: So just for clarification, i dyed my hair with demi permanent color. Didn't strip my natural color (level 6), just applied level 3-4 burgundy color to it. If i use a color remover it should go back to the level 6?

J O R D A N: I dyed my hair with Demi permanent ion light chocolate brown hair dye but I was blonde before. How close would I get to blonde doing these ?

L.: What is the best kit to use to remove color??

Iryna Zhylyak: my natural hair was level 6 and it was colored red which was also a 6 but it looks like it had a little lift because after its stripped it went brassy orange. What formula would you recommend to go back to level 6. Should I use a level or 2 lighter since it's porous. should I use 7 ash or mix natural with 7 ash? I don't want it to be to green. Plz reply ☺ thank you very much

Non_toxic Green: Hey I want to remove the toner from my bleached hair. As I want to change the tone of my hair from cool to neutral. The toner is a semi permanent igora vibrancy. Should I do a bleach bath ? Love your videos.

jupiterarrives: i love all you videos and your hair! Thank you

Kelly Marie: I once went from the darkest black, to my natural colour (very light golden brown-blonde) with two uses of Scott Cornwall's Colour B4. It shrinks the dye and washes out clear. It's the only thing I personally trust on my hair.

Mary Wickiser: quick question... so i tried going lighter and it made my hair ORANGE. then i tried going dark again to get rid of that and it did nothing. i can’t use a color remover because it wasn’t color, it was bleach. WHAT DO I DO TO GET IT BROWN AGAIN??

Brittany Adams: If I were trying to explain to a hairdresser that I want a cut like this with the heavy layers what would I say? I tried to explain it and all I ended up with was a very light face frame which isn’t noticeable at all. Idk what to do

Adernn Nider: Nice/easy to get advice from you bc you have amazing hair!!!!

Karen: Will head and shoulders mixed with Vitamin C work? I had faded red hair, then was bleached to lift it and dyed it (professionally) black with blue in it. Now I’m over it and want to strip the color so I can go lighter.

Dawn Hartley: HI, i was wondering if you can tell me if i have dyed my hair black forever and i use color removers like color oops or rusks elimin8, how may times do i have to use it before i see that its working? I also have natural black hair so would i even see any difference? I have been a blonde before to and went to a dark brown and then black so do i have to use these removers alot to get to where i want it to be which is just to a lighter color in general because im trying to do bright red. Thanks for any advise...Dawn :)

Olivia Frey: hi ellebangs I had a question I have bleached my hair twice now with olaplex but nis it's at a pink darker orange color but where my roots were are blonde. how can I remove that pink/red/orange? I can give pictures if needed but I'm desperate to know if these colors will ever come out.

Sunshine Galkw: Hmm I’m letting my gray grow out, I wonder if a color remover will work on by bits that are still light brown.... I may try it!

IzzyTuber: thank you hunny you explained alot

Danikah Smith: I have two questions. #1 if I bleached my hair and added dark brown over what will happen if I remove the artificial color? #2 if it turns brassy can I use purple shampoo to tone it? what I'm try to do is basically go back to natural and grow my hair out but I was going to balayage it first to even things out. it's currently dark brown lowlights and in the back with some platinum blonde highlights. I'm thinking this would be my best option? thanks!

Cindy: What if I previously bleached my hair to a level 9 blonde but then I colored it jet black 3 times with a permanent. If I use a color remover will it turn out a brassy blonde? Or will it remove only some & leave me with light brown?

Courtney L.: I have dark hair and I went and got blue and purple highlights a couple months ago and now I'm thinking of going to maybe a medium brown so how should I go about doing this? thanks

Moi Maris: I have colored my hair about 8 times this year because somehow all the blonde became orange which I never had when I was younger. I think the color doesn’t catch because I have to much layer of hair color. Can I remove all the hair color from my hair and color it again after?

P Hehle: Hi Silvia! Can you please explain us what exactly a bleach wasch is? Could I do these in between salon appointments?

Devi Sasongko: Hi Elle :) I have black brown hair probably level 2 and then I dyed my hair into dark brown which is also level 2 because I thought that it would change my hair into chestnut brown that I want (about level 3). So now I bought another haircolor in pure beige (in level 6-7). Before I use that, should I remove my dark brown artificial colour, or can I just go dye my hair? I know that the result will be like level 3 or 4 max. Thanks :)
