Hello guys so we'll come back to my channel, it's Katie. My last video was about me going blonde, I'm back with a normal video about how I fix my roots, because obviously we have all been stuck in quarantine. I know a lot of you guys probably have outgrown roots, so here I am helping y'all. So I bleach my hair in three rounds. Okay, then it's always three rounds because it's trial and error for me. I do be making mistakes, so you guys have to make mistakes, so I got you so this is how my hair looked like before and I'm putting it up into like ponytails. So you see how my hair, like it's all around, and this hair was like not washed for like three days, so I'm also parting it down the middle. So you can see how it looks like like those are my roots and absolutely disgusting. So these were the products I used. I use the bleach from Wella as I was their toner and t18 and I used the 40 volume cream developer by salon care. So, for me, because of quarantine is something that I couldn't go to like my usual door, which is Sally's Beauty umm, so inside order everything off Amazon, which was very, very, very convenient. That was all on Amazon. So thank you. I was on so I used three full scoops of bleach and then I used six scoops of developer because it's two parts developer to one part bleach and you'll - know that, because that's in the directions on the back of all the bottles - and yes, I am using A plastic work to mix because I don't have professional equipment, but it's cuz, I'm doing this at home. Obviously it'll be messy, so be careful, but the consistency should be like cake batter and it's too thick and more developer. If it's too loose add more bleach, and this was how I sectioned off my hair and also I'll - be using pasta clothes because I apply bleach with my hands so the first time I bleached my hair was really bad. I just went right at it like I had this mindset where oh my gosh, I knew what I was doing, because I bleached my hair before, like my whole head before, like this will be super easy, but it really is not so the first thing you have To keep in mind is when you're bleaching, your roots, is very different from bleaching your whole head. For me, I would like blend the bleach down my hair, but for your roots, you have to not blend it down, because you'll bleach the rest of your hair too. So focus on your roots to keep from, like smoothing the bleach into your blonde hair, already just smooth it back up. If you do get a little bleach on your blond hair, it's okay, like obviously we're not professionals hairs, just don't put too much bleach on it. The toner will help with that, keep in mind what kind of shade of color you want for me. I want a blonder shade, like a more yellowy blonde. Instead of like a pure like white blonde cool blonde, I had to make sure I didn't bleach the rest of my hair and focus on my roots, because, if I believe show us my hair I'll be way cooler than my roots. So this is how the first round looks like and it looked really really bad and you can tell how the hair was a lot cooler than the rest of my hair and that's because I bleached it. So that was what I was trying to warn you guys about to focus on your roots. The first round, where I messed up, I basically just went at it and didn't really care. I just wanted to. You know fix my roots instantly, so this is my janky mirror setup that I hung with hangers. So you know just figure out what you can do make sure you ramier and back like how I did that because I don't know how else you're gon na bleach the back of your head without seeing your head bro. So if you have a friend to help you, I will recommend you to get your friend so here I am using the mirror to see the back of my head and also keep in mind right now. I'M doing a lot of things wrong because I was doing very little layers and look at me blending that into my blonde hair first round was so ugly like it was so bad because I didn't do layers. First of all. I just did like two layers, because I was like yeah, I'm just gon na slap it on and I'll get all my hair. It should be easy. No well. I forgot how much hair I have so like if you have not that much hair like you were very lucky for that, because you don't have to do that many layers and my hair was really really long. I have a lot of hair, so I had to do layers to get every single thing and I recommend you to do as many layers as you can, because the more precise you are, the better it is so for the second round, like based off of all These mistakes I made, I made sure, to concentrate more of my leach to my roots and make sure I didn't bleed to my blond hair. I didn't want my hair to be like three shades like this probably dark, and this part would be super light, and then this probably would be like normal, because I wasn't trying to bleach my end. So I'd be like three tone, so this is the only way I can describe it. It'S like neo politician Napoleon ice cream, lord of the heck. Moving on with that, I focus on the areas that needed more bleach. Bleach works just how it should work. You know it lands, so the more bleach you put in one area, the more enlightened your hair is like patchy. Just put more bleach on the darker part and of course you mine, toner, will fix a lot of the things that you feel like it's wrong. For me, I was like really scared. I was like dang, why is my hair, so I would be like. Am i doing something wrong like oh my gosh, like how did I? How did I get my hair that way like one year ago, and I remind myself it's still toner toner. It'S God's work seriously like it's magic in a bottle, because it really does help your hair so much it like smooths. Everything out makes everything look Marnell. So for the second round, I use the same amount of product as the first time, because I needed to fix a lot of stuff, but on to the next part after the second round. My hair is still really ugly, so have to do another round. So here's some footage of me looking like a lunch lady, but basically for the third round I focused on evening and lining everything from the second round. I realized my skin tone affected, which blonde would look better on me so, like some people might look better with like a more brassy yellowy blonde, because you're under tonus, more like yellowy or some people, might look better with like platinum blonde, because your undertone is less Yellow by all those little things like I'm sure, whichever hair color will look good on you as long as you feel good, you know I'm saying I personally liked the look of a more yellow blonde or my roots. This is all based off of, like my experience as well, so whatever is applicable to me, might not be applicable to you. So beware and do your own research, of course also. I like to wrap this plastic bag around my neck to protect my back from the bleach, so this is pretty much how my hair looked like after a third round. I looked pretty good, but it was still a little bit too brassy. So I did put some more bleach on certain areas but overall, like I was pretty satisfied. So here's a snippet of me mixing the toner and I use the 40 volume developer because I couldn't get the 20 volume, which is what you should get because I was in quarantine. But I just diluted my 40 volume and also the toner. Consistency should be kind of pasty like the cake batter, but looser and it'll gradually turn purple and you apply toner on towel-dried hair, so your hair is still kind of wet so for toner make sure you don't tongue like the parts that you don't want to fix. If you want to like tone your whole head, that's also fine, but for a me my hair was already like super cool on the ends and I wanted to blend so I needed to not tone the rest of my hair and focus on my roots once again, But for me I messed up and I kind of liked home these parts once again. That'S why I'm telling you guys the advice, because I made the mistakes, try to focus on the top of your head and not like the ends arm so it'll be a nice blend, but also, even if you do, you know like get some toner does toner does Not last forever, and that's why you propyl shampoo and stuff, like that, I was just keeping up your hair, no matter what your hair, like the toner, will go out right after you do your hair. Everything is a little like, Oh Stark, like very intense, just like wash your hair go times. Let things fade out and then you'll like see how your hair will truly look like. So toner was pretty easy and I didn't really film anything because it was just pretty much like bleach. You just put it on where you want to tone your hair. So this is how my hair looks like I filmed this clip like two weeks after I bleached my hair, so my roots are ready, start going back in but yeah. So this how my hair looks like in a ponytail compared to the ponytail from the beginning of the video, and I took the ponytail out to show you guys mark the layers, but you guys can't really tell them this video, because the lighting is bad but yeah. I do have a more brassy tone, yellowy blonde on my roots, but it was a nice blend. So for me, what I've been doing lately? Is I've been trying to take care of my ends because bro ends are actually horriffic like they're, actually really dry and really damaged, but for my roots, because my scalp is super like oily and stuff, I don't really focus conditioner on there, but I try to condition My own products I use, I use the Dove shampoo, mainly for my roots, and I only condition the ends of my hair. I don't shampoo the ends of my hair and I use the Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner, which is amazing. I don't use purple shampoo, but if you do need to use purple shampoo argument, Finola no yellow, which is pretty strong and the shimmer lights is a more milder version. When you're bleaching a hair, make sure that you know you don't put the bleach on as long as you do for like the rest of your hair, because when you're doing your roots, obviously it works different, because your scalp is more like heated. If that makes sense. So keep that in mind everything that works for me might not work for you. Okay, so once again do your own research. For me, I need to use volume 40, because my hair is toughest. Bricks, like my hair, is super dark, naturally extremely dark, extremely strong, which I'm very very grateful for honestly, but it's very hard to penetrate my hair and very hard to like lighting inside that's. I have to do so many rounds. If you have a sensitive skull, I recommend you to not use 40 volume because 40 volume - it's extremely strong, so you know go to 30 volumes. That'S usually what the professionals recommend I think, but for me I use not 40, because I ain't too lazy to wait. I need the power. Do your research once again research? I think that is all that I have to share on my advice and my journey, I mean you guys have any questions, leave them in the comments and I'll try my best to comment or you could yeah me on Instagram. I can you lay up. Follow me, if you have it and of course please subscribe to my channel if you found this video helpful, give it thumbs. I have some very interesting videos planned if I like my skin and stuff like that, because my skin has been absolutely beep and I can't wait to share with you guys like what I did make my skin better, because it was actually horrible. You care about skin care or anything make that like be on the lookout for my video. Ok, thank you guys so much for watching. I appreciate it and I hope you guys are doing well in this crazy time and hope your family saved and yeah they're talking. Yes, we're watching bye,

SpirituAna: Exactly how your hair was before is MY EXACT hair today going to go buy everything and doing this ASAP

Alex Jang: You did a great job! I've been bleaching my roots at home for over 7 years now, and I never fail to miss a couple of spots lololol. I do recommend 30 vol as well! I'm Korean, and it works totally fine. Usually I have to go over the previous roots when I do my roots again, but it's so worth it not to have to stress as much if it touches the already-bleached hair. I have an olaplex traveling kit I can use but it still doesn't feel worth it. This is probably more for when your roots are only about half an inch to an inch long haha. You did a perfect job though and if 40 vol has been working for you, then there's no problem with it :P plus, it's your choice!

Hannah Moy: You’re so brave lol my bleached hair has grown out the exact same way but I’m too afraid to dye it myself but also don’t wanna spend $$$ to get it done professionally when we are technically still in quarantine :(((

M Lee: Definitely shocked she didn’t mention the 40 vol hurting her scalp after a few bleachings. So hopefully that means it didn’t! It’s not recommended to go over 20 vol on the scalp area. There is a higher chance of getting chemical burns and that is sooo not fun. Still loved the way it turned out, I will be using some of these tips tomorrow!!

Jenna Barrack: Giving me strength!!! I tell myself I’ll get the hang of bleaching the back of my own head, and I mess it up every dang time

Nancy Arellano: I love the way you edited this video!!! I’ve been there done that with my patchy bleaching so I completely understand but thanks for making it comical it was fun to watch!

Katie Leia: Hey everyone! Sorry for the bad camera quality and lighting, it's been a minute since I filmed but I'll fix it for next time! Thank you guys so much for watching and if you thought this was a good video, lmk by giving it a tHuMbs uP loool :) see you guys soon!

Lily Edgar: I just found your channel and I love your videos! Keep them coming!

Ro ♡: Wow your tips are so helpful! Thank you ❤️

kenzi chap: I come back to this video every time I dye my hair because I can never remember the measurements and our hair is very similar lol thank u!!

Grete: If you want to get yellow or orange out i highly highly recommend purple/blue hair masks rather than shampoo. Bc shampoo is very drying and bleached hair needs all the moisture. Also blue fixes orange and purple fixes yellow and be realistic, T18 or blue shampoo isn't gonna make your hair platinum.

Juicebox Destroyer: your hair is so thick and beautiful, doesn’t look damaged at all omg ❤️

Rachel: i dyed my hair blond (left it on 30 mins) and i loveee the color! but i didn’t touch my roots at all because i was scared of it turning uneven. how long should i leave the bleaxch on my roots? should i do a thick layer ??

Jasper Rosa: I've never seen someone fit blonde hair so perfectly

Toby Dials: hello! i share this account with my husband, but im native american and latino, and I've only ever used 20 volume developer! Asian hair is thicker, so it's less likely to fall apart! please start off with a lower volume developer and take your time by going over with multiple sessions if the brown doesn't lift. i wish everyone well and for nice stylish hair lol ♡♡♡

Katherine Carpio: should i wait a few days before bleaching a second time ? or can i do it again after it dries ?

Amanda: Wow you have the most beautiful and healthy looking hair for someone who uses bleach!! I am way jealous lol.

feedxia: The blonde turned out so even! that hair bleaching dance..hahaha

Boop Boop: i was really scared i was going to mess up bleaching and dying but the miroir thing really helped when i saw tutorials on doing roots i never got how they did the ends this was a game changer

em's diaries: girl u are gorgeous! i want to dye my hair a similar color but i’m afraid to fry it!!

Celine Chong: THIS IS SOSOSOSOSOOSOSOO RELATABLE. LITERALLY ME EVERY TIME I BLEACH MY HAIR

Kath Robles: Hi! I have natural dark hair and i wanted to retouch my roots. Can i use 30 volume developer for both bleaching or toning? Or it must be 20 for the toning?

Christian Saint: Wow It came out really nice

SweetTea: Ok...hanging up the mirror like this just changed everything for me I always keep it in my hands until I get annoyed and start dying the back of my head blindly.

naila kanaya: if youre bleaching twice in one sitting should u rinse ur hair w shampoo after the first bleach or just rinse the first bleach out w cold water, dry it and put the second bleach on n then shampoo ur hair after the second bleach?

Janelle A: how long did it take amazon to ship your items? i was planning on ordering from sally’s online but i heard lots of negative reviews saying people weren’t getting their items so i’m trying to order from amazon instead

Lisa Tran: Hey girl! I just came across this video and it gave me hope to redye my SUPER regrowth wth hair , I was wondering were these products Australian because I just tried searching them up and their so hard to find :( especially the salon care developer, was wondering if I could just use any developer with the wella bleach , would it still work?

Abbie Wheatley: Looks so pretty

Ella Tierney: my roots are SO grown out but luckily i don’t have to make it look very good because i’m putting colour over it

boba: my hair was recently done blonde (bleached) and my stylist made sure to leave space (about 3 inches) for my roots and it looks awful. its completely new but the roots and the side and front do not match at all. again, my stylist was afraid of getting to close to the roots. so she didn't dye them. was she wrong? i REALLY want to go buy some dye and do it myself. any advice?

NekoSugarParade: How long did u wait between each round of bleach? Or did u do it all in one day?

gabbs m: did you use the same 40 volume developer for 3 rounds of bleaching? im bleaching my hair atm and its orange and yellow

Angelic Angel Lisa Hunt: Stunning

Katie Leia: hey guys, a year after this video I bleached my roots again! so check out that video too if you want more tips & tricks :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmG4sNq9HFg&ab_channel=KatieLeia

Diana White: How long did you wait in between the bleach sessions I read you should wait 2-4 weeks

darlene: girl you’re so pretty!!

kevin mai: how big is a scoop katie leia ? i want to bleach my roots at home during quarantine but i cannot figure out how big of a scoop are you using ? also what mirror do u recommend ? also does it matter what gloves i use ? i was thinking about latex ones but i dont know if the scoops of bleach and developer will dissolve it, do i have to use plastic like u did ?? sincerely kevin

Buttergodisbeast: Wow you are the best youtuber out there. Go get big!!!

shamelesslykristen: that mirror on a hanger trick is so smart omg I’m definitely using that next time

Naylani Williams: Am I the only one who thinks the regrowth still looks good?

Tonya Roxxi Little: Did you say that the toner time was like almost 2.5 hrs?? Is that including the time u put it in also?? Like start from finish or starting time after you put it on? And let it set ?

The Cat Lady: I have naturally dark brown with red in it. I have bleached my hair three times and it’s still not lifting. I’m currently trying to let it rest before I hit it with a 4th bleaching. I have stubborn hair too! But my end goal is to be a vanilla blonde color like yours! It came out really good.

Faith Adekeye: We stan talent‍♀️

Cheryl Mess: Hii so i toned my hair using wella n11 and it looked blonde but because i have color fading i cant really tell but im planning to bleach my roots and i bought wella t18. Do you know if the roots and the rest of the hair would look different? I was thinking about toning my whole hair but idk if it would damage the hair that is already toned.

krystal kohu: Glad I clicked onto this video, I'm going to use your diy hanging mirror idea ...for eyes at the back of my head! Yuss

ivyy: Hey! If I use these exact products u have will my hair fall out or no? x like some of it did yours! I love your hair btw

Sara Kim: i need this omg. and true, i need 40 volume on my hair cause 30 dont do shit. it does happened to asian hair sometime

Althea Maurine: Is it the lighting that makes your hair color warm or you applied another toner before beside from t18 which is greyish

Yu: I did bleach all my of it... After 3 round i bleach it.. My hair turn too white is like platinum blonde but hey i love it

lyra: hi, i was just wondering what the font in the thumbnail is called? i've been looking for it everywhere! thank you!

Jody Hakala: Omg wow your hair got super super blonde ‍♀️

sjieseididjeiijcidjdidi: since it’s called developer i wonder if you can use that for film rolls or idk

V M: Never use 40 volume... too damaging.

Marissa Moore: I love this color on you!

Aimal: okay this is literally my situation except i have blue hair too. anyway this was super helpful i’ll be using this :)

Shelby Marie💖: You waited way too long to do your roots but you did a great job!

Lila T: Hahaa, girrrl how did I not watch this video before my first attempt at doing my hair all by myself yesterday~!!!! I watch youtube videos all day long on hair, and WHY WHY WHY couldn't I have seen this last week??? LOL, my story is a bit different, cuz my sister is my usual colorist, but the past few times she's done my hair, I've been extremely annoying and extra just, yeah, she pretty much told me to find another stylist from now on, cuz all the money in the world wasn't enough to put up with my ass... So of course, I have all of the professional products at home, and I don't EVER do on the scalp bleaching, and I never have, so I sectioned everything and sliced it all onto foils.... FIRST OF ALL, duuuuuuude your advice about not dragging the bleach down past the roots.... I WISH I WISH I WISH I had HEARD that, cuz of course, my mids and ends are now the PRETTIEST icy white, and my root area is that lovely shade of orange we ALL LOVE SO MUCH *said sarcastically* HAHAHAHA, now I want to go and do a second round for the root area ONLY, BUT because I did it on my "sunday" and had to work today, I HAD to put toner on that sh*t girrrrrl you know what I mean!! Luckily I have a collection of redken shades in 7n 7v, 8v, etc... so it helped with the SUPER orange parts, but now I guess I'll wait a couple weeks (IF I CAN) before doing the second round... I've got basically asian hair (color and thickness) except double the thickness, so I totally relate to the 40 volume taking three rounds to finally lift!! Anyways, now my comment turned into a novel, so I'll stop right here.... ALSO, real quick... your mirror is OMGGGG - I died of giggles, and then tried to figure out how I could do that at home, cuz I had moved a huge mirror into the bathroom, but had to sit on a stool in order to kinda see... anyways... hot mess.. but I'm excited for my second session and I'm proud of myself for trying and learning, and I am proud of you too!! You're probably a pro by now, for real for real!! Thank you so much!!! Love your video, if I didn't already say so!! You are so beautiful too!

Liz: just so everyone knows: you can dilute developer with plain water, i would look up the ratios just to make sure! (:

JasmineTiller: i just bleached my black roots and then applied toner and NOOOO LMAO my dumb ass need to bleach it again

Tina M: Did you do all 3 rounds in one day?

Mai 3: Mine today look like the first round

kevin mai: hey can i get a response soon ? i want to try bleaching my roots at home during quarantine but i want to make sure im doing everything right sincerly kevin

bry tw: someone helllppp, I have faded red hair (used to be magenta) and overgrown brown roots. so if I put the magenta colour on my (soon to be) bleached roots, and the rest of my hair, what if my roots end up looking terribly bright than the rest

Dee: Omg 40vol on roots

Emily Vang: “Neopolitician ice cream” YOURE SO FUNNY HAHAHAHAHA

samichh: brad mondo would’ve cried (happy tears and sad tears)

Moffeen: Does anyone know what's the spanish translation for "toner"?

Suong Huynh: ♥️

Jhon Reymark Francisco: Btchhhhh this is really helpful thenk yew

NoobKitty: can relate

LaLaLand: missed your videos!

V누나: You kind of look like Lia from Itzy! So pretty

Angie Li: HOLY SHIT THE KISS AT THE END

Jody Hakala: Your a beautiful person.

Tony Fernandez: Do you think I need to do the same steps you did for me but im only doing my 2 front pieces of my hair like how sissy sheridan has it

Alena Pham: god bless i need this

A: Your fail clips are hilarious

Shayla pittman: wait guys i need answers can i just buy a kit or do i have to buy everything in whole

Pebbles BamBam: @potatotod your right it is called outgrowth not roots lol

Avocado Octopus: Is 10 developer okay?

Rebecca Lane: The 40 developer scoared me hahaha

Thrasty Craster: That’s very unhealthy for your hair and your roots actually looked awesome when they were grown out and the rest was all blonde

Caitlin Shampine: how much money did you spend total?

Melissa C: 40 volume is way to much.

youresus: the voice over bleep lmao

Monique Emaline: THE SNACK CLIP

Angel dust: Neo politician hahaha best i lov e it

Barbara Ramos: Neopolititian icrecream

Rabia Dündar: I think you should change the color of your eyebrows

Brandon Lee: Shoeess
