This is a tutorial for people who are not licensed hair dressers and doing their own hair at home ~ I hope I can help anyone out there who may not want to use bleach to achieve beautiful blonde hair.

Since my "how to remove color from hair" video, I have had SO many questions about developer and what developers are best for blondes and so forth. I am hoping this tutorial can help you understand how developers work and which ones are best based on your natural hair color. The lighter the hair, the lower developer you will need. The darker your hair - the stronger developer you will need. You mix in the developer with the hair color you want. Here, I used a hi-lift blonde hair color, mixed with 30 developer. This is how you lift your hair, while adding the blonde tone to it. This is a way to bypass the bleaching process. You can also use this process to tone your hair to a beautiful blonde color as well, after using bleach. The possibilities are endless!

▼ Products used and Directions for applying: ▼

▼ Lightest Ash Blonde Hi-Lift Permanent Creme Hair Color

▼ Cool Ash Blonde Hi-Lift Permanent Creme Hair Color

▼ 30 Developer

▼ Shimmer Lights Purple Shampoo by Clairol

All available at Sally's Beauty supply.

▼ Mix 1/2 a cup of color together with 1 cup of developer.

▼ Put color all over your ROOTS ONLY.

▼ Let sit for 15 minutes and check how the hair is lifting. Put a shower cap over top to lock in the heat to help the color develop.

▼ Let sit another 20-30 mins or a bit longer until you reach the desired color.

▼ Rinse out with purple shampoo, condition as usual, dry hair.

▼ Voila, you are done.

For beginners - do not use box dye with developer! It already comes with developer. Just use the box dye on your roots if that's what you choose to get. I get this question a lot.

There'S something that I just have to talk about, and I came to the realization that I can't do it anymore. Lawn chair has been a part of me since I was 16 years old and this is like JLo waking up one morning and not having a butt. So, the last few times I have been doing my roots, whether it's someone else doing my roots or myself doing my roots. What happens when I've been bleaching? My scalp, my scalp swells, to the point where I look like an alien cartoon. It'S like puffy like a balloon. This is like a balloon. It'S disgusting and I have to wait two days for the scalp thing to go down. I can't even be out in public for like two days after doing my hair, it's crazy! It'S gotten worse and worse and worse, my hands developed these insane rashes. My head gets all swollen and the last time I did this. I had welts on my face all over my neck, my back, and I knew that I just couldn't do bleach anymore and I had to break up with bleach every time I was bleaching was like a Hail Mary, where I was thinking. Oh, my god. Is this the time my scalps going to explode and all of my hair is going to burn and fall off like it was just getting to the point where I was actually getting scared if you're allergic to bleep cue? Let me know in the comments section I want to hear from you is that why you're here at this video, I was browsing on YouTube and this one girl. I came across one of her videos and I'm going to link it down below. She was a total sweetheart. I commented on her video like oh, this is really great, Q's love it. It was a video about hair color, and I commented on it, and I mentioned is that I had trouble with bleach and I didn't know what to do and she actually commented below and said Chrissy have you ever tried lifting your hair without bleach, and you know I'Ve been gone to prepare school, I haven't been to hair school wish. I could, but you know, all I know is bleach and tones which in tone she mentioned that I should trial, assume my hair without bleach. So I went to Sally's Beauty and I came out with the following item. I decided to try the the color brilliance by ion. This is what happened with this, so what I did was I took a couple of different colors and mix them together, and I took these colors mixed them together with a 30 developer, so I got the 30 developer because I didn't want to do something too strong, Because I have medium brown hair, so it's not super dark. The girl at Sally's recommended that I do a 30 developer before I try a 40 developer. Yes, so I bought the cream developer from Clairol and I love this one. By the way, my scalp felt amazing and it has soy complex in it. So it's really nice and soothing, and I have to say that 30 developer was actually almost perfect for me. I'M going to show you everything in the footage and go into detail and you're going to be joining me in my bathroom again, and I'm going to show you how I mix everything together, I'm going to show you the colors I used and everything like that. My husband was at home to help me with the shooting of the footage and stuff, so I'm just kind of like using my camera and trying my best to film everything, and this is the result of everything and I'm going to show you step by step. What I did so that you can do this at home as well and at the end I'm going to come on back and I'm going to talk about the developers. What are the best developers for you, and also this is absolutely perfect for anyone who's trying to achieve silver hair if you're trying to remove color from hair. If you're, here from my remove color from hair video, you guys this is your video to get your hair back to blonde, because this will help lift everything up and out. And if you want to see how to use bleach on your roots and everything like that. And toner there's my how to bleach your hair at home tutorial and how to tone your hair tutorial down below yeah. So on that note, let's go to misty Christie's bathroom and do a little hair tutorial here we go. Let'S get started alright guys! So welcome to my bathroom, so I have a bowl and a hair color brush and then I have clique and I usually have a vote for clique. Then I have a measuring spoon and this is what I use to do: the color measurements, because generally you have to do to developer to one color I'll, show you in a second so here I'm using the ion color brilliance from Sally's and I'm going to be Using a high lift, color and high lift means that it's going to lift your hair up as much as possible, so it's kind of a lower grade than bleach and then I'm going to mix it with the 30 developer. That is the soy complex from Clairol, and this is the extra lift developer too, which is really helpful for lifting your roots up as light as possible, and again you can use a 40 developer if you're comfortable with that. So, what's really important is to read the instruction. The directions will tell you what developer to use for what level of brightness. So I'm using a 30, and I should have really got a 40 developer. But that's okay, because I'm learning and it also tells you how long to leave the color on your hair - and I left mine on from one hour just to let you know but we'll get to that point in just a second. So here is my roof and I have a little bit of regrowth. I bleached and I couldn't leave it in very long and it just ended up leaving these yellow patches and when it grew out it just looked terrible. I couldn't keep the bleach in very long. The last time I bleached my hair, so here's the before alright. So next we're going to mix our color. So I'm going to take the high lift ash blonde and the high lift full blonde, and I'm going to put them in this little measuring spoon here and then putting about a quarter of each tube into this little cup here and then we have it. I'Ve put in a quarter of each tube and then I'm adding in a little bit of this light blonde golden tones just because my extensions have a more golden tone in them. I want to just make sure that I have a little bit of a golden color in there, so I dump everything out of the measuring spoon and put it in a bowl. And now I'm going to add my developer. So usually it's two developers to every one. Color so, for example, say you have half a cup of color, you want to use one cup of developer, so I'm going to measure out two of these spoonfuls of developer. There we go so now, I'm just going to mix everything together and make sure that you're really mixing everything well together, or else you're going to get patchy spots in your hair, and I apologize if you feel like you need a gravel watching this video. Usually I have help, but I didn't have any help today. Okay, so now we're going to apply the color to my hair and I have divided my hair into section and I'm going to start with the bottom part of my hair and work. My way up to the top - and so I just go row by row just like in my how to bleach your hair tutorial, I'm just going from the bottom all the way up to the top, and I also do this in my solo hair tutorial. So if you want to see it more in-depth, you can go back to those videos and watch that so I'm just going up layer by layer and just making sure I'm covering all of the roots and dividing your hair into sections. It just really helps to make sure that you don't get color in all different parts of your hair, so I highly recommend sectioning everything off so now the color is on and I'm just going to, let it sit and just keep an eye on it. So I recommend letting it sit on your hair for about 15 minutes and just checking it to see how everything is going and so far it's doing a pretty good job. I can see my roots lifting a little bit, so I'm going to put on a shower cap and just keep checking it every so often so here we are about 40 minutes later, and things are looking pretty good and I'm just touching off any spots that I Feel need a little bit of extra help. Maybe I need a lot of extra help, I'm not sure, and then I'm just letting it sit on there for another 15 minutes and that's how it looks after an hour of the color on it, and I had a shower rinsed everything out and there we go. I liked this method a little bit better because it was faster. I was done within an hour. I was showering. I used purple shampoo in the shower and it toned everything really well and then I was able to blow-dry and carry on with my day, alright guys. So we are back - and I hope you enjoyed that. I was terrified filming that tutorial, because I had no idea how this was going to turn out and it ended up turning out really really nice and I used to have a more white blonde color. But I found that that kind of drained my face a little bit. You know what I mean and I got some new bombay hair extensions, while my hair gave me 270 grams and extensions and they're a little bit more of a yellowy tone compared to my cool ashy blonde hair that I had before, and these ones match better with This color, so I wanted it to blend nice. So now I want to talk about what developers to use with your hair colors, because the developer is a very important part of this process. So if you have blond hair already and you're trying to lift it to a lighter blonde, you probably only need a ten developer or a to any developer. So I'm going to put that right here and for anyone who is light brown to medium brown, you can get away with a twenty developer or a thirty developer, to lift your hair. It'S your medium brown and I'm going to repeat medium brown, because some people go one way. Some people go another. If you are a medium brown to dark brown, I recommend doing a thirty or forty developer, but I would lean towards the forty developer. If you have dark dark hair, you know what I mean. That'S my recommendation. I'M going to use a little bit of thirty and a little bit of forty and the other thing is. Is you can also use these colors as a toner? So if you want to bleach your hair, you can bleach your route and then you can go in with a ten or twenty developer and mix in these really nice oaky cool blonde colors, and it will tone your hair and you just put it in for about Half an hour and it'll tone everything nicely okay and then some other things. I want to add to this video. So a really important part of maintaining hair, that's not being reached. Is you have to touch it up every three weeks? You cannot have a big chunk of regrowth because then you're really going to get the line like the stripe down the middle of your hair you're, going to see the divide between your roots and your regular hair. It'S going to be so noticeable. You need to hit that regrowth quick every couple weeks, you're going to have to do your roots, but I just want to put it out there. I get so many questions you guys so many inbox messages every week from wonderful, amazing women all over the world who are trying to get old color of their hair or try to lift their hair to blonde. And I want you to know that if you are trying to get a good blonde, it's kind of like The Da Vinci Code, I'm going to be completely honest. Finding the right blonde for you is like cracking a code, you really have to try a whole bunch of different combinations to find the right blonde that works for your hair color. It takes so many times to find the right blonde for you, it's like going to different hairdressers and finding the right hairdresser. That knows what you want. It'S the same with blonde everybody is blonde, will be different, but it's up to you to find the blonde that works for you, but yeah. I love getting inbox messages you guys. So please, if you have any questions at all about this process. Comment below. I answer. Everybody'S comments, if you haven't noticed, I'm always responding to everybody's comments. Also, if you want to Instagram the Emmys go ahead DM me, you can snapchat me. I have a lot of girls that snapchat me what's happening like Chrissy. Look at my hair and oh my god, what do I do? I love getting messages from all of you. Please always feel comfortable sending the inbox messages. I love them. I love helping you guys out so and with that being said, I'm not a professional stylist and I'm not claiming to be a professional stylist. I'M claiming to be a woman who has died and bleached my hair so many times that I feel very confident being able to help people with any kind of issues they have at home, and I know a lot of the negative comments I get on my hair Videos are actually from hair stylist and I just want to say to any hairstylist watching this. A lot of people are looking to be able to do this at home, not only just to save money, but because maybe it's easier or more affordable. I'M showing you things that are accessible to everyone. In my other hair tutorials, I'm showing you items that you can get at Walmart at the drugstore. You know what I mean, so I want to make these tutorials as user friendly as possible for an everyday woman who just wants to have wonderful hair. You know what I mean. Everybody'S blonde, like I said, is going to turn out different, so you know be patient. Blonde is not an overnight thing if you are lifting your hair from black to blonde. It'S not an overnight thing. It'S going to between a few weeks to a few months to get to the blondes that you want. Hopefully I can assist you with your journey to blonde in your hair at home, so anyways guys, thank you so so much for watching. I hope this was helpful. Give it a like, if you found it helpful, please please, like my video, make sure to subscribe if you haven't subscribed already. I hope you guys get amazing blonde colors and have an amazing day, and I will see you all in my next video bye

Missy Chrissy: Hi guys!! All the links to buy the products are in the description box - it's through amazon so you can order it all at once - then get everything delivered quickly and easily!!

Anna West: I absolutely love this. I have bleached my hair before and it literally killed it. It’s been years. But now, when I came across this video, I decided to give it another go. Absolutely NO regrets! My hair is soo soo light without the harsh bleaching !! It does work !!! Follow her tips !! She is accurate. If you have no patience, bleach is the way to go… but if you love and want to save your hair from falling out, this video is the way to go. And no, I agree 100% that not all salonist know any better. Thank you for this video. Truly. I have been using your technique and I do not have any regrets!! Thank you tremendously!!!! God bless !!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Becky Anderson: Girl...I can't even tell you how this video has now changed my life. Ion is also cruelty free so I am going to go out and buy these items and do my hair asap! More women need to see this video lol

Azra Ahmed-reza: I’m a hairdresser, and I think you’re adorable! I have always tried to lighten my clients without bleach wherever possible, and have turned some very damaged straw like blondes in to silky blondes using this method on Virgin regrowth. You did a great job!! ❤️

Squeaky Speaks: Great video and info! I've never dyed or bleached before, but I have an appointment this weekend and am hoping to go from a darker blonde to platinum blonde like you. I hope they can do it in one go! Thanks again :) This may come in handy if I decide to touch up on my own.

Amanda Woodhouse: Hi Missy! Your hair looks GREAT btw. Quick question - My natural hair color is a light ash blonde, but I have been going to the hair salon for a few years now to achieve a brighter, non-platinum blonde look. Yesterday, I decided to try touching up my roots myself using a similar technique as you in order to match my already dyed hair color. I used a combo of three different dyes: 1 oz. of Clairol Professional Creme Permanent High Lift in Neutral Blonde, 3/4 oz. of Lightest Neutral Blonde and 1/4 oz. of Gold-Neutral Blonde High Lift (=2 oz. total) with 4 oz. of Salon Care 20 volume creme developer. I left it on for 30 minutes, then shampooed and conditioned my hair. However, my roots turned into a pale orange. I went back to Sally's and they suggested I use Wella Lightest Ash Blonde toner to correct the orange color, but it only helped a tiny bit. What advise do you have to correct the orange color? Should I have used a stronger developer or used a cooler toned hair dye? Thank you!!

Ana Rita Falcão Costa: Nice video! The developer depends on the goal color... 10vols will lift just one tone ,or deposit if wanting to darken; 20vols 2 tones, 30 vols 3 tones, 40 vols 4,5 tones.. if you are a level 5 (light brown) or higher you need the 40 .. if you are a six ( dark blond) or lighter , it depends ond the color you want.. in your case you are a 6 ( dark blonde) or maybe a 7 ( medium blonde)... and with 30 you got a 9. it would be lighter if you hadn’t put the gold on it.. because of that it gave you a 9.3 instead of a 9.0 .

jazmine: Yayyy! im so happy to finally see someone doing a high lift tint correctly. bleaching isnt always necessary . so much less damaging:). TY TY! TY! you did great for not having help :) great video~p.s you can still use a blonding shampoo if u feel it gets brassy in the future .

WorkFromHome 411: Your hair looks gorgeous! I used to have blonde hair and after a couple of years my scalp, arm pits, and crotch would burn so I stopped dying it! Glad I came across your video!

spanglish 2021: i actually like the golden blonde color you have in this video...its very "soft" and flattering to your skin tone:)

Frances Rodriguez: Hi! thank you so so much for this video. Bleaching my hair has left me with almost no hair due to the breakage. This is a life saver. Can you please tell me which toner you use, how you apply it and for how long we should leave it in? Love your persona! New subscriber since watching this..

Jennifer Kluever: Thank you for the video! I am on Accutane right now and I can’t bleach my hair because it will just fry it while it’s already fragile. My hairstylist recommended using color instead of bleach and I had never even heard of it before so naturally I go to YouTube to check it out

Virginia Soto: That was an awesome tutorial. You’re so beautiful. Thank you.

Emy Emz: I am so happy that I found this video. I have dark brown hair that I have been dying blue black every 6 months or so for almost 2 years, and I don't want to bleach my hair and ruin it. I will definitely be trying this.

Heidi Purcell: I enjoyed your video. I am a stylist and master educator and I think you did a great job! So glad you are backing away from the bleach. Some of the chemicals we use can be so harsh!

ethereal intoxicated canary: You are hilarious! I loved the intro. I wanna lighten my hair to dye it gerard way red and I have naturally dark curly hair. I am so terrified of bleach and I am glad this method exists!

Kristen Rogue: You are a buttery blonde done right, your hair and you are so gorgeous!

Emily Rowe: Hi Missy, Great video. I have never dyed my own hair until last month, my husband did the back. I got hair color from esalon on line and I was happy when they said light blond and a little pearl blue. I have very pink skin and need cold colors. I used the color and got the same results as my hair stylist--too gold of a blond. My hair is straight, oily, dark blond to light brown and is very, very easily damaged. It is just that the worst color with my red skin is anything in the brassy area. When my last hair dresser did a toner after each whole head just the roots, my hair would be very damaged and look unhealthy. It has been good to not go to a stylist to real understand what I want to do. Instead of the old 6 week hair dye which is always too red for me. Please advise. Thanks so much, your hair looks great!

Rachael Renea: Thank you so much for this!! I have been wanting to keep my hair blonde but without all the damage from bleach. I subbed you ❤️

_Tera__: I want to lighten my roots, so I did a patch test on a small section of my hair. I applied the highlift colour only on the newly grown root area. I used Wella Koleston Perfect Special Blonde in the shade 12/81 mixed with a 30 volume developer. I have previously highlighted hair and the hair turned purple in the places where the highlift color had touched the already highlighted hair. Has this ever happened to you?

sexysergeant123: What a sweetheart! You are as beautiful on the inside and you are the outside. I’ve been to cosmetology school but I only practice on family, and I do me practice. I love wheat you said to hairdressers!!! Like everyone is not allowed to do their own hair. That’s like saying, “”Stop cooking yourself that meal, you’re no chef”. It sounds ludicrous doesn’t it? Thank you so so much, you’re tutorial was perfection!

Carlos Hernandez: New subscriber, love the video very informative just what I was looking for. Thank you so much and you are beautiful

raggedyanne81068: Awesome video! Thank you!

Anita Taco: Wow! What a crazy reaction to the bleach! I have sensitive skin to almost everything, but only after having my gallbladder removed, not sure why it caused that, but I'm thankful the bleach didn't affect me. Honestly, I never even considered having a reaction! I was so excited that I found something to finish making me blonde without bleach, but hi lift only lifts on virgin, naturally colored hair, and mine is far from it...lol...I'll have to remember that for my roots when the time comes.

vanessa priska maes: Hi Missy Crissy, for touch up, do you also use 30% and also 1 hour processing time? Thanks

AleshiaTV: I'm surprised that none of the professionals that did your hair recommended this! Glad you found something that works!

Y. Patricia Nunes: Great info vid Chrissy, its very helpful, I will be trying your Method sometime this week. I've been going blonde very slowly in stages. I started out with my natural Dark Brown hair color then I used a box color which turned it to a Reddish Brown then I Bleached it and it went to a Strawberry Blonde then in March for Spring Break I Bleached it again then used the Wella 18 Toner and it turned it a Light Golden Blonde. My last step is trying your Method to finally go completely Blonde for the Summer. Wish Me Luck, Fingers Crossed. :-)

alyssa boyle: Thank you so much for this video!! I am getting sensitive to bleach myself. So thank you

ShanDomi: Thanks for sharing your tutorial!! I really enjoyed watching! You have gorgeous blonde hair!!! I think I might be allergic to bleach as well like you are. Because, every time I try to poor the bleaching powder in the bottle with the developer I have a problem with the odor. The odor or smell of ammonia always gets to me through my nasal passages. I know on the directions they always tell you to make sure you are in a ventilated area but that still doesn't help me. Plus, I have to be very careful to not damage my hair. Because, I have to chemically straighten it. Because, it's more or the curly side naturally. What I do to keep from using bleach is just use a box dye that gives you high lift. The name of the product is, "Clairol Nice N Easy." The shade is, "Ulta Natural Light Blonde," and the first time I used it on my dark brown natural hair color I was totally shocked by the results I got from how blonde my hair came out!!!! It didn't come out to being yellow but it was more like a bright strawberry blonde. Now, I figured that to cast out the brassieness I can use Clairol Shimmer Lights purple shampoo or conditioner. I have always loved being a blonde!!! I do bounce back and fourth from red to blonde then from blonde to black or brown. But I am sticking with the blonde for a long long time.

chalee f: Hi Missy Great video! I've been addicted to bleach for years, but as I get older the bleach is totally drying out my hair so I am not allergic but I feel your pain I love bleach and being blonde. I have been looking for a way to make it this color yellow blonde. Right now I have alot of growth. I love your color but I want just a touch more yellow should I add a touch more golden? Thank you! I am definitely going to Sally's to try this.

Diane Daly: Subscribed - you are so warm and likeable while talking us through this. I appreciate it !

Maria Acosta: This video is amazing I'm afraid of bleach cause my hair is too thin and it usually burns. I need to try this. Thank you!!

Macie Chapman: THIS VIDEO IS SO SO SO HELPFUL THANK YOU SO MUCH IM SO GLAD I FOUND YOU!!!!!!!!

Jacklynn Marie: I absolutely love your silver, grey hair it was gorgeous

Caitlyn Kreklewich: absolutely gorgeous colour

Katrina Kaye: Love this! Thanks <3

luv2travel2000: Love your blond hair colour! It's the colour I would like to have. Thanks for this video.

SabrinaAnneC: I love the idea of this!!! I am going to try it to get some blue left over in my hair!

Jen Xoxo: I love your hair! Its so nice. I want to go blond. I did it once and it looked really good but ended up dying it back to black and couldnt get black out of my hair. The main thing I hate about going blond is the orange part! When that happens I freak out and want to dye my hair back to brown! I just wish there was a faster way to skip the brassy hair part of the process. I know There needs to be alot of toning, and then finding the perfect tone/color. It's a pain in the butt. Then you have to find matching extensions.

k: Chrissy, Thank  you for this video. I really enjoyed your way on presenting. I have a question. I have used boxed red dye and want to go platinum. Can I use the technique you used in this video to achieve the this? Do I really need to do the lifting off of the color first??? It just seems like over kill to do all the lifting then trying to achieve blond after. If you are able to get blond results without bleach on your roots...wouldn't be possible to do the same with the technique you used in this video, as well?

angel kendrick: Omg!!! Im so happy i seen your video! I had the same reaction that you described! My scalp swelled, my face was red, my palms itched my feet itched. I alomst went into shock. Ive always used bleach. It was the quick blue from sallys. I was so so sad i didnt know what i was going to do! Thank you for this video! ;-)

I CAN DO IT!!!: Your doing sooo great, keep it up!!!

Fallon Zoey: Glad you found something that works for you! I have gone to hair school & im all for helping people color at home! It is nice being able to get professional products though.... i love Guy Tangs line!

Sorella 247: I'm a brunette and i want to bleach my roots but I'm allergic So thanks girl... you saved my life !

ladyesther: Thank you for your video. I stopped bleaching my hair 2-3 years ago when I discovered high lift color. I am still trying to find the ride shade of blonde for me. I am naturally a very dark blonde. I have been using 11n with a 20 vol developer. I think I may need to try the 30. The 40 was too drying for me and I did not notice that much difference in the lightning. I use olaplaex in my process which helps. thanks!

Harlequin Blaise: Hey, so great video for starters! I was just wondering if you could still do this recipe/method with a liquid developer, or does it have to be cream? Is there a way to do this with a liquid developer?

Misty Hafer: Love this video! Thank you

Camryn Long: Thank you so much!!! My hair so dead to the point I'll have to cut it off so this is extremely helpful for the future!!

Carrie Barnes: Thanks so much! I'm glad you're willing to give your tips!!!

Esther Herrera: Hi Chrissy Great video!! Thanks for sharing I wondering what to use for deep conditioning treatments to help hair in between dyeing

Dream Chan: Yup since after my cancer treatment I have been allergic to bleaching but I love dying my hair which sucked but now I can agin thank you I love your videos ❤️

Margo Michelle: I found you video because the bleach has been damaging my hair so badly I'm so sick of it! Reluctantly, I started searching about going a more natural highlighted blonde which I do not want to do, but I was hoping cutting the harsh bleach out would help with the damage. Have you noticed a change in the health of your hair since doing this process? Is there less damage to your hair without the bleach? Thank you for this video!

grace allen: girl that's talent I couldn't do that if miss like half my dead it looks great ❤️☺️

Alicja M: Omg I love how girl at Sally's talked me.oit of doing my hair this way , my hair takes bleach very well so I really think I can switch to this method instead!!! Thanks for posting this!!!

Flashlight84: Hiya Missy Chrissy! Great video! So informative. You said roots only, you mean that only for people who only want to touch up roots right? This method can be used for the whole head (like mine) I hope. I have fine medium to dark brown hair, a bit concerned about damage. I have done blonde highlights.. a few times not on my own. What is the damage with this method like, compared to using bleach to lighten? Thanks soooo much!

Ermina Ramos: Man I am having issues at the mom with my blonde. It's all over the place and I'm scared to bleach the end of my hair because I have done it so much and watching this has helped because now I can have an alternative

Michelle Andrews: Thank you for this video as I am looking to dye my hair a light blonde this Friday . As I am a recent survivor of early stages of cervical cancer in March . I am reinventing myself and can't wait .

Kelley L: I’m going to try this. You made this look really easy. Every time I go to the salon it’s like I need a sign that says I want to be blonde. Don’t ask me any other questions LOL it just confuses me and I just want to be blonde. I want color, no highlights, no depth, all one color. So I’m going to give this a try. We have a Sally’s that we can buy from so I will run in there and get some product and come home and try it. Thank you for the video

Mariane Dubois: My gosh why did I not watch your video before!!! Bleach did so much bad things to my hair when I tried to bleach it to become blond.... You just gave me hope again!!

Gloria Schonborn: Thank you for sharing your video . I am so happy I came across your video. ☺️ your method is very useful.

Milly M: thx this video really helped with my hair!!

emma w: Thank you so much for this video! What was the gold toner called that you mixed in with the hair color? Sorry if it's in the description, I can't find it. Thanks !

Elena Goldstein: I needed this so bad. I've done my hair for years and it sent me to the ER last time. I needed help knowing what to do

thelindasunshine: Hi..i love your no bleach video. My hair has been professionally done and I am a cool cool beige.but as you mentioned it drains my skin tone. I've had yellow.blonde hair since high school. Do you think I can get that amazing soft yellow color trying what you did? Thank you so much for your videos they are so helpful

Bumblee Bee: I'm allergic to bleach.. I bleached my hair for YEARS (15-20 something) going through lots of different colors. At around 23 I bleached my hair as usual and the next day found a patch of hair missing. Oh chemical burn right? Nope, my scalp was not red or burning at all when that happened (i'd only used a 20 volume) never had experienced chemical burn or reaction in the past even with 40 vol and over time of NOT bleaching or dying the roots that patch stayed, didn't grow back, grew in size (baldness) and I started developing more patches of hair that grew in size over time even though I stopped processing my roots. O_O It's as if bleach and dye gave me alopecia (which is an autoimmune "disease" btw. I went raw vegan a couple years later for just a week and the hair started growing back and continued to grow back. Now I will only bleach my ends and try to use a ppd free or more natural dye at the roots. Scary stuff. When I dye I now dye with coconut oil underneath and am purchasing a scalp conditioner that reduces anti-inflammatory responses...hoping that never happens again...

Rainbow Unicorns: you have no idea how well this product worked for me!! i have been allergic to bleach for 2 months now and i could not find a product that worked. i tryed this product and it worked so well!! thank you missy chrissy!

Julia Kirsty: I used to do this when I was younger and always wondered why anyone with blonde to medium brown hair would want to use bleach. But a year ago, I came back to bleaching it. I'm naturally dark blonde, but for the pastel silvery lavender color I want, when I try doing it with high lift dye, it never really works. The pastel shades just don't stick to my hair at all. It's not because the hair doesn't get light enough, but because the hair won't be "fragile" enough to allow the pigments to stick to. That's not a problem everybody has, but my hair - even though it's fine - is just so soft and healthy even if it get's dyed, that it can't absorb any pigment from direct dyes at all. If I just wanted to be light or even platinum blonde, any high lift dye would do the job perfectly, but not for the color I prefer. (For anyone who's wondering: my hair still feels super-soft now that it's bleached, it doesn't break or split or tangle at all and it is super shiny.) But I am glad that you show this method to your audience because it is a great alternative for anyone who struggles with breakage or dull hair caused by bleach (and of course for those who are - like you - allergic to bleach). If your hair is naturally more on the fragile or dry side, high lift dye will be way better for you than bleach.

Dawn Clements: Hello! I love the hint of yellow/golden tone of your hair and extensions! This is what i have been trying to achieve for a loooooong time!!! I do not look good in ashy or white colors. I am wanting a BRIGHT sun/golden/yellowish blonde color like yours in this video.! :) What is the correct YELLOW/GOLDEN TONER COLOR that i need to add to the mixture of my high-lift color? If you could PLEASE let me know i would greatly appreciate it! Thanks have a great day!!

SaRaH RH: it's almost 1am, I've been looking for a video with someone who has the same natural color as mine!!! I've probably watched like 50 videos since noon! Thankyouuuu so much for this video!!! I currently have highlighted hair, I loved it at first, not so much now. the reason being, I can't diy it, especially when I can't get into the salon every 4-6 weeks! I haven't been to the salon in 3 months! I've been platinum before. I've been many different colors before, but I just love the blonde so much! I hate bleaching my hair though. but FINALLY I've found your amazing video, and how I can achieve a very pale blonde. without bleaching! thankyou again, you're awesome!!! sidenote my picture is from the platinum pixie cut I had liiiike 3 years ago lol. I don't know how to change it, I'm too lazy

Katie Borth: I think I need more tutorials with a canadian accent. Ha! I miss living up there. This was REALLY helpful. Thank you so much!

Kat Way: I went to Sally's about a week ago, had strawberry blonde/ginger hair, more orange then blonde, and wanted to go blonde. I didnt want to use bleach and the lady recommended the ion color brilliance high lift blonde line. I didn't even know it was a thing! Mixed it with 30 and dang it lifted my hair perfectly. ♡

BB is my bunny: Does this still damage your hair as much as bleach?

Mrs. J: Hey, Thanks so much for this video. I'm trying to go from highlighted blonde (natural) hair to a lighter shade so I can put pink/peach without ruining it and have no time to go to the hairdresser. Big Ups I live in VanCity too.

Karina Katia: THE INTRO HAHAHAHAH great video missy love ya girly

The Lebanese Virgo: She has The Perfect Light Blonde !

Sheila: Great idea, wish this would work on my very dark hair!

bre lrde: I really like this technique. I just Demi dyed my hair brown because I was tired of the roots :( do you think this process would work on my with a 7 right now ? I also never knew you could use the tones with the hair dye! I always had to tone afterwards

Josh: This helped so much thank you

Josh: This helped so much thank you

Girl Bye Blog: Thanks I needed this Never to using bleach again. developer is good enough. You're so right! The trick is to touch up you're roots constantly. lol it took me 7 yrs to find the right blonde. I'm a #27 honey golden blonde & #614 Platinum blonde is for me.

Annita Smith: This is so so helpful,im back and forth at my hair stylist since December to get my hair blond and even now I didn't get it already spend over $500 every visit is $140I will definitely try this thank you

MG G: Hi Chrissy, thank you for the video. I was looking your video because I’m thinking maybe sometime in the future I will dye my hair blonde but the problem is, I have a very thin hair so I don’t want to use bleach because it might destroy it. My hair color is dark brown but because my hair is very thin, it might help to lift it more, hope I’ll manage to go to platinum blonde with 30 developer and the hair dye. And maybe a toner so to get rid of the orange/yellow color

Truthful: Greaaat video thank u so much! I have tried a strand test of My Age Ash Blonde Hi-Lift on my roots and it turned my dark brown hair orange! I used a 40 developer and Olaplex (which dilutes it to a 30) and applied the colour twice but it’s still an orange light brown/dark blonde. I was hoping the ash tone would remove my brassy undertone :(. The second problem is that the rest of my hair is bleached to a very light blonde and the colour strand test i did touched the bleached part somehow, and turned it green. So how do you avoid touching the bleached hair which sucks in the blue base from the colour? I really hope you can help me out! Thanks again!

Alexis F: I'm not even over exaggerating I think you are one of the best beauty gurus on YouTube. Videos are always funny, entertaining, helpful and when your sponsored it's classy and beneficial. I have a question now lol my hair is just naturally so so so brassy and copper and my ends, do you think I could use a 30 or 40 developer with an ash blonde or brown and kind of tone my ends that way? If tried just using purple shampoo and it's not enough thanks Chrissy!!

Cheri Miller: I am now allergic to bleach too! And have been bleaching my hair for 20 years!

Seona: Gorgeous ❤️

FessaBarbie: Love it! Would this method work instead of bleaching before applying a fantasy color such as Pravana Vivids? My hair is naturally a light/medium brown & I've used box dyes & some products from Sally Beauty for dark hair to go purple but they never come out as bright as I want. I've been thinking of bleaching but I'm kind of scared since I've never done it before but this isn't as intimidating. lol

Sharmishta Wilson: Thank you.. very helpful

Michael Noker: I've been doing this instead of bleach for the last few months, too - not because of an allergy, but because bleach was just doing sooo much damage. My hair stopped holding color, too, so using a toner lasted all of three days. It's been a strange adjustment to go from platinum/ashy to warmer blonde, but like you, I feel like I actually look better with a warmer color and not as "drained." And my hair feels like hair again!

paulinejustliving: have to try thisloved this video! thank you for sharing!

tswana tsie: Hi Thank you for the video. Is it permanent or temporary for the dye

sharon muller: OMG The colour of your hair was the blonde I wanted but just could not get!! It was always too light not golden blonde.Love it its so beautiful.

Irsi Montero: Lol this video was perfect!!!! Great advice and super funny thank you!!

milo34983: @Chrissy, how much of the Light Golden Blonde color did to add to the mixture as well?

Just Jess: What type of extensions are you wearing? Clip in or tape in or other? Thank you for your video and advise. I am going to try this next time I do my roots. My current bleach that I love has my hair falling right out of the roots and breaking off near the scalp. My boxed hair color before this was not doing that to me even though it was the lightest blonde you could get. Another question I have is are you able to achieve the desired lightening with just one root application? On your video your hair looks dark blonde at the roots not medium to light brown.

Me Rose: Yes!! Everyone makes me ash by default as it’s so popular but I HATE IT - makes my skin look grey but a nice pearly clean colour makes my skin look so bright and youthful I love it

Joey Drones: Thank you Missy for the Video I will share it with my Daughter.

Trades C: Is the Clairol Soy4Plex the only 30-volume developer you've tried with this Ion Hi-lift color, or have you tried other 30-volume developers? Did you see any difference in the lift result?

DelectableD420: Hello, do you know if this process will work on hair with coconut oil? I am currently at golden yellow after bleaching and put coconut oil throughout to help add some moisture.

Kara Hughes: I love my blonde hair so much,I've been using bleach since I was 15,I'm 32 now.i found out two years ago that I'm very allergic to bleach.i broke out in red welts on my forehead, neck, face and my ears swell up to the point I have to take my bearings out. I thought it was from the different brand of bleach that I use so I continued to use a couple other brands and it gradually got worse. The last time I bleached my hair I had to take Benadryl for 2 days just to get the swelling in my ears to go down. I have literally burnt my scalp with bleach in the past before I knew how to use it correctly but all of a sudden I have gotten to be extremely allergic. It is extremely strange. My heart is broken LOL
