How To Do A Bleach Wash Soap Cap! Color Balance Shampoo Cap For Hair Explained.

If you're wanting to go a couple shades lighter this video is for you. Doing a shampoo cap/bleach wash/color balancer- whatever you want to call it- can help to pull out previously dyed hair so that you can get a lighter look using either a toner or other hair color. I went pretty aggressive with my mannequin head, Susan, because Manniquin hair is incredibly stubborn. I would recommend using a lower volume on a real person's hair and DEFINITELY don't do 3 back to back shampoo bleach baths as I did in this video. Chemical haircuts are real- always proceed with caution! If you only need a tiny bit of lifting check out the video below this- about how to fix hair color that has gone wrong!

If you're new here, WELCOME!!! I'm Rae- I am a professional hairstylist so a lot of my content is hair/beauty related! Additionally, I do a weekly whimsical Wednesday video that is more in the lifestyle category and is whatever fun uplifting subject that my heart desires. I hope you enjoy the video! Let me know either way so that I can make sure to put out future videos based on your enjoyment! Thanks For Watching!

What is up y'all and welcome to the real array with me ray? You are watching home hair academy, where we learn how to do all sorts of fun, hair color, like things so today, i'm going to talk about something. That'S named a bunch of different things. I'Ve always called it. A shampoo pop can be called a color cleanse a bleach bath, i'm probably forgetting some other ones, but essentially it is a way to remove some hair color kind of quick and easy you're, probably not going to get super like a ton of lift doing it. This way, anyway, let's get started for a full loan, a shampoo cap you're going to use shampoo, powdered, hair, bleach and developer. In theory, you want to do equal parts of each. For me, i feel like what i typically do is mix double developer to bleach and then i mix in. However much shampoo, i feel like i need to make the consistency like pretty liquidy and workable in the hair. I guess just as a hairdresser. That'S what i've always done versus like measuring it, so yeah do whatever feels right to you um. You know, as always, if you can do a you know, test strand, that's great, but i don't know that this technique really like um allows for a test strand. Since it's like a throw it on there and go alright, let's go ahead and do her a full blown shampoo cap, we're gon na be real aggressive with her, because i've told y'all that mannequin hair does not lift as well as regular people hair. So we're gon na use 40 volume because we're crazy, like that, i would probably start with a lower volume on a real person there, maybe like 20 or 30 volume, depending on how much lift you need. You know if you can go lower and do like a 10. That'S always preferred so we're going to do a double developer to one part powder bleach and then, however much shampoo, my little heart desires, then again we will get her hair wet with warm water and then just apply it all over, like you're shampooing or like your Uh or like you're, applying a toner and just like you would, when you're, applying a toner, you want to get it on as quick as possible. Messy is okay, but you want to make sure everything is very saturated and it goes on quick regarding the shampoo of choice. Ideally, you want to use some sort of like detox or clarifying shampoo, but truly like any shampoo will work since you're mixing it with bleach. I would say: use the cheap stuff, don't use your super expensive shampoo, because, basically you know it's just diluting the bleach stuff, so this can be used for if you just want to lift the hair up a little or if you've got maybe some like a small Amount of fashion color or something you're trying to lift out lots of different ways you can use it. Let me know in the comments below what brought you to this video and what you're trying to accomplish and if it helps or if you still have some questions for me, all right, y'all, if you're enjoying this video, do me a favor and hit that, like button And if you haven't already subscribed, go ahead and do that for me, it helps me to grow my youtube channel. I would super duper appreciate it once it's on again and just kind of like let it sit and keep an eye on what the hair is doing and how it's lifting and once it gets to the point where you're happy with it go ahead and rinse shampoo And do a nice good, deep, conditioner all right, all, let's get her dry and see how she's all right. So i think that susan turned out pretty good after her shampoo, but it might be a little bright um. I you know the top looks pretty good and underneath we're still pretty uh orange, and you know i decided to start with the bottom and do a couple of rounds of shampoo cap under here before we did the full thing and she's still not as light as I want her to be so. I guess the takeaway here, for those of you watching at home is that, although a shampoo cap may like seem easier, if you're wanting a bunch of lift um, it is not quite as effective as painting it on dry, hair or doing it in the foil and Just you know as a reminder, as always, mannequin hair does not behave as well as like real people hair, because it's partly synthetic, partly human, but all of it has been like super duper treated. I am going to bleach her again but on like dry hair, and hopefully she has some hair left after that, since she been bleeped so many times. I'D really like to get her a little bit more, even all over before i do the final round of abuela toners that i've done on her so far, if you missed those videos, go check them out i'll, put a link in the description one was on here. You know about this color and the other one was on here. That was more orange like this, and you can see how they do on each of those. Ideally i'll get her lifted like a little bit brighter than this, before, at least on the top. Before we do this third round and again hopefully, she still has hair for us to do that with all right y'all. Thank you so much for watching this video about a shampoo cap bleach bath tele cleanse whatever you want to call this process, since it has so many names. Let me know what sort of questions you have in the comments below and what sort of content you would like to see going forward. My plan for the next video is to actually do one more of the wella toners, so we can see how she looks once we get her good and light all right. I will see your beautiful faces so soon it's the real ray bye. You

Jay 12: Hi! :) my whole head was a level 8-9 till around feb this year and we decided to go for a bright copper in the salon, they filled my hair with a brown (apparently because they didn't want the copper to fade quickly) then put the copper over it, the color came out as a dark brown because the filler just stuck to my hair :( I never actually ended up with the copper color I wanted as my hair ended up stuck dark brown, I decided to give up on it - because my hair was already pretty damaged and I just wanted my light hair back but I knew that wasn't gonna happen. My hair at the moment from where the beached parts were (the parts they coloured over) is like a light brown now, a level 6?? and a few inches of a level 4 (regrowth).. Im wanting to try bleach washing to get it all lighter gradually over a few applications over a period of time to maintain integrity. What is your recommendation on the most effective technique on applying the bleach wash to the different tones of my hair to achieve all over lightness & consistency in color?

m e: Excellent! You also give great advice (per your comment section). I’m sure this has helped many folks. It’s appreciated ☺️

foxyknowledgeseeker 1: This is the best bleach bath video. Your explanation and demo is really great. I've watched it thrice now. Lol Going to bleach wash some dark dye off my hair so that I can color it light brown. Not looking for too much lift and not interested in doing regular bleach lightening. This seems perfect.

Kim C: I did this over the weekend, I need one more lift to be able to tone it to my desired color! How long should I wait to do a bleach wash again??

Michele Spontak: What brought me to this video is I am hoping to safely raise my level to 9 or 10. My natural level would probably be a 6 or so. I have been using high lift box dye for years and stopped in exchange for some highlights for the past several months. With out dying my hair, now the roots are too dark for what I want. The only bleach used has been for highlighting. There is still the processed hair from previous box dye at the ends of course. I want to lift my roots, which lift very well. As well as include all the hair that had not been highlighted. Is a root touch up with bleach, along with a bleach wash on the rest of the hair a reasonable idea? After that, I was going to tone.

Whitney L: Can you use conditioner instead of shampoo? Also, how long do you leave this on for? I’ve been bleaching my roots for a while so now it’s been a year or so and my ends are pretty brassy compared to the top...

Not Yourbusiness: Hello :) My question is: I applied a light ash blonde with 30 vol last night. Roots look good, lower half that has multiple shades eq black applications isn't lifting. I did a soap cap strand test with bleach, 30 vol, shampoo and coconut oil. Matches perfectly to roots and feels healthy. I'm wondering how long after the color I applied last night I should wait to soap cap all over. I don't want to get crazy and damage my hair. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and answering questions!!!

Amanda S: Thank you!!!!! How often can I do this? I’d like to use this method to gradually lift my lengths and roots as they grow out. I’m a natural light brown (level 7?) and got my hair to an orange 8ish, then ‘toned’ with Demi permanent color. There’s no permanent color in my hair. Can I do this when my roots grow out to lighten everything (I plan to use Demi permanent to do a shadow root)? I don’t know if I should leave the roots out for a few minutes so they don’t get hot, or just saturate everything.

Amanda Lee: My daughters hair was dyed to a 4n using Demi permanent with the firefight of it fading over time. It hasn’t faded at all and she wants it to be a medium chocolate brown. Do you think a soap cap is a good idea for this? I’m only concerned about getting an even lift since there is color on her mids and ends. It was colored about 3 months ago. I did lighten in foils a couple of weeks prior to that but she decided she wanted to go back dark. So there’s the back story lol! Also I figure I’ll have to tone but really need to see what level she lifts to first.

Savvei Spirit: I wanted to lighten my hair without bleach, but I think this might help being that I have color in my hair already and really want to get rid of this red in my hair

Marit vl: I have colored my hair with 20 gr 4N + 15 gr 5A with 10 vol all over. Before that the ends have always been dyed with the exact same colour except I used 1.9% developer. My question is how light can I get my hair by using a bleach bath? Preferably I want to reach a level 7 and put a 7.11 or 7.01 on it, so a cool tone

Kelly Brown: My client requested a pull through to refresh her ends. I did that and now she hates it. I suggested highlights to brighten up her face and she's not one for dimension apparently. My first thought was a soap cap but I haven't done one since beauty School. I came to youtube to make sure I was remembering correctly. I'm hoping it pulls just a little bit of color out to lighten her up a bit.

T Smiley: I have natural level 5/6 brown hair that I have been coloring closer to a level 4 for a while. Recently I switched to a deep brown red (around level 5) but it’s not showing great with the darker brown. Would a bleach wash get the old darker deposits out so my next round of brown/red shows better?

Ashley Lehigh: I’m trying to lighten my hair up with out damaging so I can do a pink and purple color. But I don’t want super bright colors

Caitlyn Burgin: My hair was brown and I dyed it burgundy with box dye but I'm pretty sure the box was mislabeled because my hair came out dark purple/black. I let it lighten for months and tried to dye it the red/burgundy I wanted and nothing happened. Will this lighten my hair enough to dye it burgundy?

Sherene Braun: How long do you leave it on the hair for

Jennifer Rooney: I bleached my hair to a yellow blonde, put Ion Brights semi-permanent magenta in it for 25mins... the whole top of my head is bright pink, but the back and sides are splotchy, even though I fully coated my head... how can I fix this?

Ashley B: I have dyed hair and would like to go from dark brown to medium brown. Any suggestions?

XdeepashnaX Xx: how many times can you apply it in one session? does it depend on the persons hair?

Michele Leverett: I have dark brown hair and I started turning gray 3 years ago. I started dying my hair with box dye. I haven't put box dye on my hair in 3 months and I want to do a bleach bath. I have at least two inches of gray hair at the roots. My question is should I just put the bleach bath on all my hair or should I just put it on the ends first? Also, is 3 months of not dying my hair and putting deep conditioning treatments on it playing safe before bleach bath ?

Sandra (still here to see the duct tape): At 3:46 the kitty in the lower right corner watching and judging your work... ❤️

L Walker: I'm AA and my hair is colored chestnut blonde. I want a reverse ombre with a lighter blonde on top. Would this work for that?

LizzieWhiz: I am now grey all over and since lockdown I did not colour my hair due to a breakout of dermatitis from a FAKE shampoo I bought from amazon UK. I usually used a medium blond but I do half a tube of colour to a bottle of developer because the colour is too dark otherwise ( this is box colour by Schwarzkopf - Colour Expert Medium Blond 8.0 which has Omegaplex and Hyaluronic acid in the formula. I now have regrowth about 4 inches and I tried a colour remover about 6 weeks ago but it did not do anything even though my hair is very cores and puros and lifts quickly when colouring it. I wanted to do a bleach wash but I am worried I might have a flare up of the dermatitis. So I decided to buy a color 10 - 2 light cool blond with 3 levels of lift, I will patch test first and hopefully it will be OK. I am hoping to lift it enough and then use a toner to make it all grey.

Sue Perez: Is it OK to re-tone . My client likes ashy tones...levels 7 to 8...I used 6 and 7 ashy to begin with and it's way too deep for her...we were toning blonde on her ends and regular color at base to cover some grey..ty

Dawn Gregonis: If I’m doing a bleach bath to even put a permanent purple and I have about an inch of regrowth. How should I go about the roots

Nicolette: I have a literal hair disaster going on. I went to a salon to get dark blue. I had previously self done red. The stylist lifted just a bit of the red from my hair then put blue over it. I was happy but I eventually couldn’t have blue hair anymore. So I went to a salon to get the blue out (at this point it faded to greenish blue already). I told them I just don’t want black hair but I want to go to a brownish color that I can slowly lighten over time. She put a permanent black dye over top of my hair without stripping any of that fashion color out. I complained to her and the owner so she “put a toner” over my hair that was level 1 it was a warm colored toner so my hair was black with a tinted red feel to it. Since then I’ve had a different stylist slowly using color remover/color oops (not bleach) and my hair is a weird brownish green now. Probably a level 4 or 5 now and I just want this fashion color out of my hair so I can have hair that’s one color again before my wedding next year. I dyed my hair blue in June of 2020. So I have about 6 inches of regrowth that is virgin. Should I just do a bleach bath over my mids and ends? Cause I’m really considering going back to red. Before this journey I always did my own hair and I’ve had more problems since I started going to salons. I’m so frustrated please help.

Mossybiscuit: i dyed my hair red a while ago and i’m trying to take it blonde. i bleached it once and now my hair is more of a pinky blonde/rose gold? idk i think i need a bleach bath to get the rest of the color out

Petro -Ann de Villiers: Can you use purple shampoo to mix for like as pre tone

Jana Dubcova: Suddenly I wish I could take my head off ‍♀️

A: It doesn't need to be clarifying shampoo? Can I use dish soap? Lol

Bxnny Blxe: So I’m a natural white blonde. And have always hated it cuz it made me look so young and like an alien. Well I started dying it, red purple black. At about 16- I7 I wanted to go back and back blonde. And it completely killed my hair. 30inches gone I had to cut it to above my shoulder. Some stuff in my life happened and I went back to black or very dark brown. Now I’m in my mid 20s and I’m tired of dying my roots all the time I wanna jus do a honey brown and let my roots take over. My only dilemma is I don’t want my loose my 30inches again.! Tried color removers and they don’t really work so this is next. Super nervous going to probably use 20 or 30 volume.

Tryxx: I have 26" of hair, I plan on doing a bleach wash cause the bottom half is temp red dye an the other half is virgin (dirty blond) I love the dark root compared to the fire red, so I plan on doing this but ombre. So I plan on using 3 different developers or time it differently for each section

W Bens: Hi I have done this method you shared with us thanks very much. Know my hair came out kind of gold color( I had before light brown )I want to get nice light blonde can I repeat the process or I can use a toner my favorite color is redken 09P. Please help thanks

Lauri K: If doing top only not underneath ? How to protect underneath hair ?

Get Crafty with Jessica H: I have about 6 in of new growth and want to lighten the new growth… is a beach bath ok ?
