THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!

Hey guys, what's up is me Elise and as she s can tell from the title, we are going to be boiling. This wig - and I know a lot of you guys - are asking yourself well why? But this is actually probably one of the most requested videos here on our channel. A lot of you guys want to know if it's actually possible to restore a synthetic wig. So I figured that today will be the day that I share with you guys, but this is the wig that I'm gon na be experimenting with, and this wig is called sensational Nia, and I have this wig for well over three years and it's weird because normally When I have wigs like this, I would normally throw them out, but somehow someway Nia made it through the cracks, so we're gon na experiment with her today so yeah. So right now I just went ahead and I put the wig on my canvas block and I am just sectioning off into several separate sections to help make the detangling process easier. Then I'm just going to go ahead and take my paddle brush and just brush through it getting rid of all the knots and the tangles in the medet this about the back of the hair. But before I get thoroughly started, I do have a disclaimer for you guys, but I know a lot of you. Guys are gon na come for me, so I have to let you guys know that there is a lot of steps involved in this process, and I know a lot of you guys may think that it's not worth it a lot of you guys may think that It might be better off just buying a brand-new wig, and I highly do encourage you guys to do that. However, again, like I said in the beginning in the video a lot of you guys have requested, this is actually possible so for entertainment purposes. Only I'm gon na show you guys that you know maybe it is possible, but again by all means, if you feel like you're too lazy to do this. If I can, if you don't think it's worth it, do not do it? Okay, I'm not making you guys. Do this - and I know, there's gon na - be some comments of people saying, oh, my god that was not worth it or I'm too lazy to do all that or I'm going to go ahead and buy another wig girl to you. But again this has been a highly requested video, so I figured that I'll share with you guys and I cannot take all of the props for this video, because I did find this video on YouTube. I was scouring my recommendations and I did see a video by a channel called glam femme. Who initially did it, so I decided to take their steps and I did it for myself so yeah, let's go ahead and get started so, as you guys just saw. I took my silicone mix shampoo and I just put a little bit in my sink and I'm just doing a a hair bath. You can shampoo. The hair thoroughly possesses hair is synthetic. I am just doing a slight pear bath. You don't have to use the products that I'm using I'm just using what I have in on hand, but if you guys have been a viewer of our channel for some time now, you guys will know that I highly do recommend using silicone mixed products. So that's what I'm using so I'm just going to go ahead and shampoo the hair and remove all the excess oils and dirt from it and yeah. I'M gon na go ahead and move on to the next step. So on the glam Femmes video, they didn't use fabric softener and I've known about the fabric softener trick for some years now, and I've done it a few times so excited to just say: no hey what the hey and throw it within this video. But I have to be honest with you guys: the shampoo really makes the hair soft. When I apply the fabric softener, it almost gave the hair like a squeaky-clean, stripped filling if that makes any sense, so I kind of didn't really see the purpose of that. So after doing that, I rinsed off the kit the fabric softener. I am now just going in with a little bit of my silicone mix, hair mask treatment or conditioner pretty much, and this instantly made the hair soft again. So, as far as the fabric softener trick, I can really deal without it, but the conditioner works just as fine, so a shampoo and a conditioner just really all you really need, but it did make the hair smelled a yeah. But right now, as Justin see that even after powell brushing through the hair, the texture really did pop back. So you at this stage right here, you can stop if you want, because, as she hasn't see, the hair really did restore itself. However, I really wanted to read to find the texture of this hair. So again I am sectioning off the hair and I paddle brush through the hair to kind of get rid of that texture. And now I'm just plating up the sections, because I again I do want to re-establish some definition within this wig and, as you guys can see, I applied it up. The hair - and I just did like a slight little bantu knot towards the end, but as high-school notice is as I proceeded for, I am no longer you gon na do a little bantu knots. I don't know why I decided to just leave the bantu knots off the end because I felt like it would have you know, made the style turn out a little better, but I said to myself: hey the ends are already pretty loose, so I wanted to keep It that way, so again, I'm just going to continue to plat up this wig again, creating some new definition, and once I'm done with this I'll see you guys with the next stop baby. Tell me who's that look baby McCandless, where your move down baby videos wan na touch. Now you did my sharpie, please I for me yawn. This should give me funny yeah in that yard. She gave me. I did she give me dusty so now what you guys! All been waiting for we're gon na boil this wig, so ho yeah, I'm not in the kitchen, but I do have a tea kettle and I'll leave a link in the info box in case some of you guys may be wondering where I got it from. We may be wanting it for yourself, but because I didn't want to bring all of my equipment to the kitchen, I'm just doing this and I Rome and it worked perfectly fine. I just went ahead and I took a pot and I'm just pouring boiling hot water for my tea kettle on to the hair. You'Re gon na want to add enough water to completely submerge the wig, because, again, that heat is going to help bring some new definition into this wig, and I do want to add that this wig is not connect alone or toyokalon. Whatever way you pronounce those words, this is for premium fibers, so it can withstand heat up to 400 degrees. So you know once your waters would be hot enough to where it can again encourage some definition, some new definition into the hair. So I went ahead and I did that and I'll out the weight to sit in the water for about about 10 minutes or so so right now, I'm just using a pair of tongs because the water is still very hot at this point and I'm just putting It on my towel and I'm just going to let it dry out a little bit so now that the hair is no longer dripping wet. I'M just going to put it onto my mannequin head and then we're going to put it underneath the dryer until it is dry. I want to say that I have this wig sitting underneath the dryer for about two hours and it still was a little wet between the braids. So I did let it sit overnight to continue the drying process so yeah. So this is, I want to say the next day or maybe a couple days later again. Here is the wig. You guys can see the braze, the hair is completely dry and I'm just going to go ahead and start to remove the braids and I'm not using any type of product. Any type of oil I'm just using my clean hands and I'm just unraveling the braids to get some definition and, as you guys, can see from the very ends, it doesn't look too good. I kind of wish that I left the bantu knots at the tips. However, again we're just experimenting, this isn't like a thorough tutorial, although you guys may think it is again, I'm just trying this out for myself, because a lot of you guys have asked. Can you restore synthetic wigs, so I thought this will be kind of fun. Just experimenting and seeing how this turns out so again, I'm gon na go ahead and remove these plats, and I will see you guys once I'm finished. Okay, so here is what the wig looks like with all the brace removed and imma. Let you guys know first off, I'm not feeling the very front of the wig, nor am i filling the end yeah, so we're gon na go ahead and try to work with it. But again here's what the wig looks like. I was absolutely in love with the definition like I mentioned before. Just wasn't really filling the tips of the wig, but let's just work with it. So I'm gon na go ahead and throw all my stocking cap and we're gon na throw on the way, and just let you guys know when I first put this wig on my head: it's not going to look like unicorn magic. You have to really go in and work with it as you would anything that you put on your head, but so yeah, I'm taking a little bit of my foaming rat mousse and I'm just applying that to the top of the wig to kind of get rid Of that bulky, puffy look if you will - and I didn't know that foaming rat mousse will work on synthetic hair, but it worked perfectly fine. You can also use hot water or a steamer if you have one to get rid of that bulge, but yeah. Now, I'm just taking a toothbrush and I'm just laying the baby hairs, and these are my baby hairs, because the weight didn't have it. And I understand how a lot of you asked me Phil about baby hairs. It'S not your thing, don't do it if it is your thing have fun with it but yeah. So again, as I mentioned before, I wasn't feeling the very front perimeter of the hair. Nor was I feeling the ends, so I'm just going to kind of get creative, so I'm just doing a little farm roll going down the front perimeter on each side, just to kind of disguise those little bangs. I hate about the wig. So that's what I would hit and I did if you are more creative, you can do whatever you choose to do, but that's just kind of what I came up with you know off top. So now I'm going in with this brow gel in the brow gel is in black and I'm just putting it around the perimeter of the wig, where that lace is being shown, because the wig, like I mentioned before, didn't have baby hairs. So I didn't want to disguise that light, color lace. Now I'm just going in my mac mineralize skinfinish in dark and I'm just applying that to the parting area, where the lace is shown just to make it look a little more realistic like scalp. You guys should know this trick. That'S been around for years now, um, but after my jacket back on, because that first thought was cold and then I was hot and yeah, but here is what this style is looking like ends yeah. Do I think that this is worth it? I don't know, look if you're on a budget. You want to save some money and you're gon na restore your synthetic wig. I want to highly recommend you know you guys are giving this a try, but for me I just find that it might be a little more. You know smarter, just to buy a new wig, but hey you know. If you want to experiment with things experiment, you know life is too short to just sort of cut corners, so yeah, let me know what you guys think guys I'll talk to you guys on next video Mina pillow. Why did she give me fill on? Give me more time, but I wanted

TwinGodesses: Hey loves, I'm gonna restore a 5 year old human hair wig as well! Stay tuned

Pitts Twins: You brought that wig back to life yassss

Always True: Your wig came out beautiful. There are individuals who are on a budget or just saving up their money for a car or a house. This makes sense for those individuals.

Amelia0dacutiegirl: Honestly for anyone who wants to do this, you can cut the steps down a lot, and its worked for every type of synthetic wig I've tried so far. When it comes to drying it, after you take it out of the hot water, dip it in cold water to set the pattern and then you can unbraid it. It will dry faster loose. You dont have to blow dry it at all, just let it sit out. It's not too hard nor does it take too much time if your wig is just frizzy and not tangled. Works for me, I have 5 year old wigs that look great that I've cycled through on a daily basis.

Sharron C: This wig looks soft & human, no where near synthetic doll Great Job

T. Moss: Sometimes you have that one wig that you loved and can't find it again so this video is relevant and helpful :)

Latisha Brown: It's sad we have to put out disclaimers just to show the next chic something. Do your thing Sis ,don't think about what some of these strumpets type.

Broomhilldah: It looks like it was a old wig to me but regardless this wig is only 30 dollars and I can braid and dip it over and over again and save money all while protecting my naptural hair underneath!!! Thank you so much!!!!

Lisa Marie: The only reason why anyone would believe it's not a 3 year old wig is because their wigs probably don't look as near as good as hers after 2 months....great job !

Sea: Thats some good quality synthetic hair, it doesn’t even look a few months old

Barbara Glover: Saving a dollar is always worth a little time

art heaux: The same thing happened to my curly wig and I tried the section off and detangling, but it was too matted. Most of the hairs were ripped from the lace (it was a 360). Honestly, the wig was of great quality but I didn’t take care of it like I should and ofc it turned out like that. My advice ladies ‼️‼️ 1. Never sleep with your wig on (even if you glued it down and you’re too lazy to take it off or you think you’ll wear it out in the morning) 2. Don’t leave in in a pony tail for longer than you need to (that makes tangles) 3. Wash the lace EVERY time

SiouxHustler: Been doing this for nearly 20 years with wigs and weaving hair. Great job!

T: Omg! It works! Girl you just saved me and I look beautiful for my job interview tomorrow! Thankyou queen❤️❤️❤️

Ja'Cara: I actually liked how the texture changed from the 3b to a textured braid out with this technique! And you could have taken the 2 cornrows that you did in the front and tied them together in the back and made another cute look! I had fun watching this! Thanks for sharing!!!!

Tiara DeVore: I tried this literally 2 days ago on a synthetic wig that I cannot find in the stores anymore. After I braided the wig I used perm rods as well it came out perfect ❤️

LaVetta Locaa: Throwing away a wig that still looks that good is wasteful... But if you don't wanna go through it all then do you

Jade Hollyfield: LOVE this!!! You’ve given me hope with my synthetic wigs. No more cutting or throwing them away. Thank you!!!

Tara Tarifik: I actually liked the results! The wig looked so natural afterwards. Made me excited to revamp the on I have.

Michele Johnson: I had that same wig and have worn it the same way. Love the restoration process. I watch Glamfam too and learned how to restore my wigs from them too. Good job sis!

Kelli Hart: This was actually beautiful on you.Looks like it could be your natural hair.Spring to Summer look.I love it..

Rai: Been doing this for 5+ years now (straight hair though) and it works wonders. I'm a little more rough with mine though lol. I have these nice full synthetic clip ins that are not made anymore and I refuse to throw them out. I've done this process so much it makes the hair 'look' human. All I do is wash them a bit, hook them on a hanger that's used for pants/skirts (this is a must if you want no fuss, less time consuming straight hair. When the hair is put in boiling water the hair spreads and any little bend will put a dent in the hair. So dipping it up and down on a hanger is easy and safer.) If you don't have that type of hanger, throw it all in for a few seconds (don't be alarmed but it will tangle a lot this way! It's going to take more work too comb through) take it out, place on a towel and comb through it while it's still warm. Holding the top of the clips or wig, dip up and down again. Once done lay on towel, comb through and air dry. The hair will feel soft and airy

Lioness Roar: I like how you patiently ecplain to viewers like myself the steps in processing a wig. Thank you You're so lovely.

Jene Hardy: Love your video! Suggestion: Use flexi rods instead of braiding it before you boil. It gives you a beautiful curl pattern!

Readings by CARA: _I, personally, was happy with the texture after the wash._ ♥️ *But good to see the rest of the technique.*

NetSunJin: Looks really nice. And no reason to be apologetic. If people don’t like how you do things, oh well. No need for so many disclaimers. Have fun and do you! You are creative and beautiful!

monica johnson: You did an awesome job!! I like how you braided the edges too!! Very beautiful look!!

The Phoenix: Girl I seen it all now. Yes sir, you deserve a metal for reviving the wig It turned out pretty Thanks for sharing

Ms Jap: I just brought a synthetic wig from my local beauty supply store. It was $5.99 and beautiful. However, it was a little tangled like it had been sitting on display for a long time. I’m going to try this out. So thank you. That was very helpful for me.

Alejandra Rodriguez: girl i used this to fix my niece's doll's matted hair. we even dyed it!!

June Love: Thank you for sharing. It was nice to be able to glean from your knowledge. And by the way you’re beautiful and I love how the wig turned out. Great job!

n andersen: you did a great job! i know you were experimenting and would rather buy another wig but this was awesome & especially the way you braided it, very creative. thanks!!!!

Mama chicken: Your wig turned out beautiful!! It looked worth it to me!

frshsrtmama: Yes! I immediately thought how nice of an idea this is for those who have an old wig they love and want to restore, or those on a budget or whatever!! I love how you put so much wave back into it!

Mark Lawrence: The finished product made me smile. Women go through so much. I just now realized that I didn't comb my hair or work this morning and it was ok with just rubbing my hands over it. easy huh.

Maria Maria: I’m so jealous on how you can brush that wig!!! No matter how hard I try I can never get the knots out!!! But I buy my wigs off amazon so........ btw - I’m doing this

Queenbee: Helpful.... whether it’s old or not, I would try it on all wigs I have. Concentrate on the positive. Thank you for sharing girl

Maya: So, this worked a few times for me but I definitely have to recommend using an iron to restore a synthetic wig. I had one that was crazy tangled, looked like a nest no matter what I tried to do to fix it. I grabbed my clothing iron and steamed the hell out of it! Took me about an hour but the difference is amazing now, It's so much softer, bouncier and flowy. The wig is 3 years old but It looks like I'm wearing a brand new hair. Sounds crazy but something to try if anyone is curious.

Don't Worry: Wow that’s a great quality wig. It even looked pretty just brushed out

Island Spice7: I did it and it came out great (i did it about 3yrs ago and I still have curls in it] I used the perm rods

Rishi Beauty: Gorgeous! You made the wig look fantastic.

Queenohsocrafty: Thank you..I have a wig just like this and I'm happy I could save it! I learned a lot from this tutorial

Latasha Love: That wig looks good right after you brushed it out I love it

Patty Pickle: I think it was worth it--a creative endeavor with excellent results. Beautiful and economically advisable, too.

Nichole LocStar Bennett: I think the fabric softener is key in removing that shine from synthetic hair and makes it look more natural...great video btw!

Aspen Montgomery: I've been curious about the boiling water method; scared to try but I did see a video where someone literally sprayed a dry wig with silicon spray (from hardware store) to help it stay soft and free, or a bit more free, from tangles and its become my holy grail. Who knew? * People often ask why I wear them so up front, I have an autoimmune disease that made my hair start falling out like crazy and me incredibly self conscious

Kristine: Love your video, I've been wearing wigs for about 6 months while growing my hair out and more often than not I've had to throw my wigs away after 2 or 3 months. Now if only I can find a solution to my hair loss because of the wigs.

Miss Lyn the RN: So I tried this and it worked!!! I would have never thought to do this!! Thank you! ❤️New Subbie.

Tameka Curtis: The quality of the hair looks too good to be synthetic

Terri Sargent: I love the way the wig came out and it can save money for many people. I thought what you did to it at the end looked beautiful on you, nice job and yes GlamFam rocks, great representation.

Bem Fawkes: It's worth it!! I think it looks lovely. Also new wigs are soooo expensive, I really sympathise with people who feel like they have to wear these to look good. I'm just plain lazy so I just put my hair in a pony tail 24/7 lmao

Shalana McCommons: First time watching this type of video, but I really liked it. You did a fantastic job and for the price of those wigs that I have seen it was totally worth it. Props for DC thanks.

Neek Moore: Girl you slayed the hell out of this wig

Marcia Patin: I loved it. Beautiful, shiny and restored

B Wabbit: It came out hella cute tho. I restore all my wigs girl. I love it. I have about 12 and they get wore over and over and looks great every time.

Ariel Tuff: It wasn't that bad to begin with tbh

Katherine Kathy Overstreet: Thank you, that was fun because I couldn’t wait to see how it turned out and it turned out really good. And for me I am all for a budget so I will be doing that with mine

Marianne Dias: @TwinGodesses: Thank you! Love this. Saving lots of money with this tutorial!

Jasmine Harp: Been watching you for years! I love your videos, good job boo. ❤️

Christina Garcia: As a doll collector, I knew this would work

Sprinkles 🍨🍧: Does it have a strong Downey smell? I did this with a wig a few years ago and j kept getting asked what scent I had on. I kept making things up not wanting to say it was the Downey scent on my wig

Monica Valencia: You did an amazing job!! Love the end results...

SupremeThrifting Queen: You did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing!

Kween Dynasty: prayers answered I just brought a wig like this 2 weeks ago and I'm scared to wear it but Look at God!!!!!

Tina XIII: soo cute!!!! i love it! especially how u made it pop up how pretty ur face is. you did a great job with that wig! ^^ keep it up!!

Lind Cobbs: I used the fabric softener on my synthetics and it just made them feel a bit rough. Silicone works so much better to soften my synthetics.

fullyselfexpressed: Thank you for giving credit to Glamfam for originally posting this video. I love people who give credit where credit is due.

dawnye C: Every since I’ve use Silicon Mix, my real hair flourished. My flat iron turns out super straight and SUPER STRONG! I know silicone not always good for our hair but it’s been a complete miracle.

Ree V.: This looks really good, usually I don't wear wigs because I've been struggling to make them look natural. But this may help a lot.

ghjk1746 watson: It looks good! I think you brought it back to life nicely.

Rachel Outler: Girl thank you for the tutorial and all the amazon shopping. Your faithful shopping keep me and my daughter with a job! Thx boo

Jordan Sparks: I think you look just darling with the wig !!! You totally made it work!!

Sarah Carr: it looks so natural!!! amazing!

Carols_Conversations❣️: You did awesome! Gave me some great ideas!!! Thanks. New subbie

MS Momo: Worth It Came out as a cute braid out. Love it

Kay Roge: I love it! It looks so natural. I would have just trimmed the ends a bit.

ECSONY ROB: Love this...That was awesome you need to give yourself more credit

tdhat95: Did an amazing job Sis!!!

Ahazie J: @2:09 it looked cute combed/brushes out I like the wavy puff look

Queen Mii: I do this ALL THE TIME!! You do want the curl at the end with a perm rod or flexirod. It really does work at refreshing an old wig. I have done the braids alone with a perm rod at the end, braids and then flexirod the entire braid for a TIGHT curl. Also the size of your braids matter as well, the bigger the braid, the looser the curl. Ive done it with heat safe synthetic, human hair blends & human hair this method for sure works WELL. I do however prefer soaking the hair overnight & undoing the braids/rods in the morning while the hair is wet because you can finger out the curls and it wont get frizzy or puffy.

wonderwend1: Far better than it ending up in landfill

Tiffany Matthews: I loved it! Especially after you braided it.

MissGigi: Wow! You wig looks sooooo nice. Good job sis.

Kamisha Ross: This is perfect cuz I have a favorite wig that the store I go to no longer carries. So I love this! New subscriber

Extra Phone: I loved it. I thought it turned out perfect. I was always curious to know if a synethic wig can be boiled. And thank you so much for sharing your video ..don't ever doubt yourself an what you do ..because of your video an the chance you took to feed ppl an my curious brain you did more than you'll ever Know..thanks a million stay blessed babygirl

Belkis Martinez: Oh my goodness, this is my 2nd wig video in the last hour. I just saw a young lady sew/glue a purple wig, now I'm here

Mar Isahall: I subscribed out if respect for you for being honest and acknowledging where u saw this process. Mad respect for you. You rarely find that on YouTube.

Marie | Martian Creations: yes, gurl!! i think it is worth it to try it. I think it looks AMAZING!

Sivistheone: I'm surprised! Heat usually destroys synthetic hair and fur! So strange

Gina Haugabook: I personally think this is very helpful, I have a wig collection some human, some synthetic and some of my synthetic I like to re wear and re vamp so thank you for this

A Beautiful YOU Accessories: You are adorable! Thank you for showing this to us.

Leslie Smith_multi-crafting: Great job with the video and wig. Looks great

Beautifulrebelhair: Yesss hunty I love synthetic wigs I have learn to maintain them to last for over a year!!!! We saving coins all 2020 period pooh!!!

kay: Do you think it’s a good idea to boil a NEW synthetic wig? I hear there’s a coating over the hair. I used to be fly w/wigs worth $500, but a few years after high school life called and I had to grow tf up This will def help, it looks just as good.

tanya collins: I loved this video, all this time I could have restored my wigs and saved a lot of money , does the same goes for straight hair too? I never knew this thanks for sharing this, love it 12/2/19

starr la roc: Wow, you are beautiful and I love how the wig turned out!!!

Anti-JeffreyMcCray Community: Came out looking amazing!!!!!
