Hey glam fam Lynnwood here and today I'm going to show you on this video how to do a Dutch braid on the side of the head. As you can see in our last video, I already showed you how to do a French braid. So if you didn't see that video be sure to check it out, I'll put a link in the top right corner, just click the I and on this side I'm going to show you how to do a Dutch braid known as a visible braid. This side is invisible notice how flat it lays the Dutch braid is actually going to pop up it's the same technique. That'S used in cornrowing, it's just on a larger scale, so I'm going to go ahead and start, of course, by detangling the hair with my faithful, Denman brush, which I absolutely love, put links to it in the description box below if you'd like to get one okay. So I'm going to start off just like last time by creating my triangle up here. I always like to start my braids with triangles. It just gives much more of a neat feel to it and I'm going to go ahead and section it off in three. The easiest way to do so is just go ahead and insert your fingers like so so I'll go ahead and lift up loosely insert those fingers, and I have three strands already now. The difference between this one and your French braid is that we're actually going to be going under our Center strand, just like underhand braiding. So if you're not familiar with underhand braiding, be sure to check out my video on that also, I've got it linked in the top right corner and I'll put links to it in the description bar below. So I'm going to go ahead and start off by taking my three strands and just passing underneath there twice now I've got my outside strands through there. This is my middle strand. So from there I'm going to go ahead and just begin to pick up hair as I'm passing, underneath the middle strand. So I'm picking it up from the same side that I'm sweeping on it'll lay a bit more flat that way, so I'm just going to go ahead, pick up, add to the outside strand and sweep right on under the middle strand. Going back to this side taken up a bit of hair, I'm adding it to that outside strand, I'm going to sweep under, and I'm just going to go ahead and sweep it right up under the middle strand once it sweeps under that strand. It is officially the middle strand for that next step, just like that. So once I have that I'm going to go ahead and flip back over here, pick up from the outside and sweep right on under picking up a bit here, adding it to my outside strand and sweeping under now. As I continue to do this you'll notice, this blade will get a bit thicker and it will pop up quite a bit more. This is really cute for, like little girls hairstyles things like that, because it's a very defined braid and I absolutely love the look of your Dutch braids. They just Smee have a certain regal look about them, but I really enjoy, of course, as always the smaller these sections you pick up the more professional your braid is going to look at the end of it. So if you want it to be even more professional-looking instead of taking the size triangle I took up here, you could actually take one that was even smaller. That'S the key difference between your professional braids and your non professional braids is that the professional ones are going to focus a lot more on neatness and the size of those subsections that you're picking up. So if you'll notice, when I'm working on that, I don't just pick it up and toss it in there. I actually go through and I detangle a bit with my fingers just to ensure it lays as smooth as possible, and it lies flat and nice right up. Underneath there so to me, it just makes a huge degree of difference in the outcome of your braids. So I'm going to go ahead and continue braiding this and once I get towards the end I'll go ahead and show you a couple techniques there and then I'll show you the difference between your Dutch braid and your French braid, which hopefully you're already noticing the difference There all right so just like last time. What I was saying here is that you want to go ahead when you get behind the ear you're going to actually have that client tilt their head forward now on a live client and unlike this mannequin the skin in the neck stretches so as they tilt the Head forward that skin and the neck is going to stretch allowing you to get this braid nice and snug, but then, when they tilt their head down later, it's not going to cause a degree of discomfort and pulling on that nape area which can actually cause the Hair to be pulled out, causing traction, alopecia or baldness in that instant. In that case, if you caused traction alopecia, you can actually damage your dermal papilla, which is what supplies the blood to the follicle, and that means that basically, the hair would not grow back. If there's no blood supply, the only way to basically be able to really hear in that area would be to go through a hair loss surgery and most people definitely don't want to go through that. So just exercise caution when you're braiding it needs to be firm, but not to the point of it being uncomfortable for your client or with a huge degree of pain, because it's just not worth it honey. It'S a look. We can go ahead and take this down at any given time, so I'm going to go ahead and just continue through here once you start getting to a point where you run out of hair. To pick up, what you're going to do is just continue on with an underhand braid. So now that I'm at the end of this section, I'm just going to go ahead and turn her a bit for you and move it a little bit this way. So you guys can see, don't mind my background noise. I'M doing this in my cosmetology lab right now, so we're just going to go now, I'm going to go ahead and continue by braiding this hair right on under this is your finished look of your Dutch braid. This here is your French braid, as I showed you in the last video, so of course, Dutch braid here French right here, and if you want to see a tutorial on how to do your French braid, just click on that I and the top right corner it'll, Be among the list there, of course. Hopefully you have liked this video and you found some educational about it. If you did, please give it a thumbs up. Please subscribe share this video with a friend or with someone that you know who is wanting to learn how to braid, and I keep your eyes out for the following videos in this series. Stephanie Swtchks: Hello All! Would you please do a video on the different types of hair? Idk if I should buy Peruvian, Brazilian, Indian, Malaysian etc.. I want to know what is thick, coarse, most natural to black people, most natural to white people things of that nature. I have bought several wigs lately that were "virgin" human hair. I have tried to dye them and the color never even faded. I used a black wig, Blue from Sally's with 30 developer. I ordered 40 to see if it helps. Applesauce consistency, foil wrapped for 40 minutes. Suggestions? Many people are doing an invisible part line by gluing the hair. They are using lace front glue but that is not permanent. What is the best glue to use that is permanent? I love your videos. I am a new subscriber. I thank you so very much for all you do. I thank you for looking at my questions. Take care! Stephanie
