Hi, I'm Rochelle with Godiva's secret, wigs and today in this video. I want to talk about washing your wig, so you'll need a few things. First, I absolutely love our shampoo and our conditioner. It'S called keep it clean and keep it sleek. They smell great, I'm addicted to that smell, it's very, very light fragrance. So, if you're sensitive right now when you're undergoing chemo, this is not going to bother you at all very just light clean fragrances, and these are the only shampoos and conditioners we offer, and these are the only ones that I have used for over 25 years. I absolutely love them. So when you ask what else can I use, I only speak about these they're going to keep the fiber of the wig soft smelling good and they keep it. Sleek will keep it feeling soft and shiny a soft shine like hair like the best and the healthiest kind of hair okay. So you want the shampoo in the conditioner. We also offer them in two ounce. Besides the 8 ounce, so great for travel. When I travel, I take these and I love putting my dirty hair under a wig and looking great in the evening is I don't have time to do my hair, and so the travel sizes are excellent to have as well. What else would you need? You will need a brush to brush out the wig gently before we're going to wash it so I'll. Show you what I do. Also our wig hanger is like the hottest thing around. It'S so popular because after the wig is washed, I'm going to show you we're. Gon na hang it and then you're just going to I'm sorry we're gon na clip it and then hang it to the shower. Okay, I'm almost 65. What do you want from me? Okay, the other option is a wig stand and this is a foldable one. So again, if you're traveling, this is great too Danielle and I we go for convenience, so I'm showing you the very easiest, foolproof method for washing there's no need to be scared. Trust me just do what I do. It'S all gon na be okay, all right. So I'm wearing a Rochelle and like many clients, I love a wig so much I have it in different colors. So this is my Rochelle in Champagne, but I've been wearing it and playing around. We suggest you wash a wig once every 10 or so Waring's could be 15. If you smoke or if your hair underneath is oily or dirty, then we would suggest wash it more often, okay, but not every wearing. It'S not necessary and our wigs are not human hair, they're, very high quality, synthetic called Kanekalon and there's no need to dry the wig to keep washing it. But if you smoke also, if you're going through chemo or you're taking a medication, sometimes the scent of the medication will come out through your pores. So if you're not sure if you should wash it or not, here's my biggest suggestion sniff it, especially in the scalp area, which is really where you want to concentrate of washing it. So, first with my brush first step is I'm going to just give it a gentle brushing it's the smartest way to have the wig be brushed and not knotted up, because when it's soaking wet you want it to dry. Remember you don't brush a synthetic wig when it's wet, because you'll yank those curls out of it and I'm telling you this wig is going to look phenomenal and look just like a brand new rochelle or your brand new wig. Okay. So I'm giving it a gentle brushing all the way around if it's a really long way start at the bottom and gently work, the brush up so you're not yanking it also if it's a longer wig here's the back the bottom. Let me show you better. The bottom of the wig - you can tell it's the bottom, because here's the label, so this is where it can get a little knotted up underneath in the back, because we're driving and we're turning our heads or for wearing a nubby fabric. It'S grabbing on to the fabric, so I'm going to make sure and brush those little knots out right here as well, so you want to treat a wig like nice lace, beautiful, lingerie, okay, these are not cheap, crappy. Wigs, so are our wigs last for so long. If you wear a wig of ours, they could die of a secret wig everyday. It will last between nine and twelve months, depending on how you take care of it so make sure to check out our 10 best tips for new wig wares on our youtube channel. And that's going to give you a lot of great ideas for how to keep a wig looking beautiful, because that's what you want so now. I have brushed my Rachelle in Champagne, god, that's such a sexy, wig now cold water. Only I'm going to put the wig and I am just wetting immersing, the wig just wetting it I'm not filling the sink with water and just wetting it all over cold water. Only hey great now, I'm gon na lock up my sink just a little water. I like to keep a little of it when I put the shampoo in because I want to distribute the shampoo all over a capful really is more than enough. I really don't use that much. My wig is not normally filthy, but it's more the scent that I want, so I'm putting it on my hands and all over the wig see how that water in there is distributing it and I'm making sure to get the soap in the cap as well. Because remember: that's how I want it to smell super clean, so I'm not doing this. I'M not tangling the fibers that I am and gently like. You can see just distributing the shampoo and now that's it. If you see dirt in the water, then give it a second washing, but otherwise just turn that water on and just start rinsing, that's how long it takes. Ladies, it's really not a difficult thing, don't be scared that it looks like a wet rat. It'S okay, okay and trust me, so I'm clients scrunching it up to get the shampoo out, I'm continuing cold water. Only these wigs you'll never apply hot heat or hot water. There'S no need the cold. Water helps keep the curl in the set of our high quality. Synthetic fiber, so when I've seen no more so and it is soaking wet okay, while it's soaking wet, I'm gon na close the knob on the sink again put just a touch of water and then my magical keep it sleek conditioner on my fingertips. Little bit rub my hands together and this isn't about the cap inside the cap. This is about the hair and just distributing it. I keep a little water in the sink to help distribute it. You could add more water. If you want okay, you're, not gon na hurt this wig. If you're, using our shampoo and conditioners and you're rinsing super-good, some people will say. Oh I washed my wig and my wig feels gummy now. Well, there's a simple answer for that: you didn't wash all the conditioner out of the way, just kind of the same thing with your own hair, so I'm going to looks real good and I'm still scrunching get all that conditioner out. Let the water flow. My rain is coming on, but this is fun I mean you could start making a living washing your wigs for all the women around you that you're turning on they could die this secret whips and you should think about being a consultant. So it's all wet. I'M still scrunching making sure I got the count cleaning, that's it. So this is the part where people get really scared and confused. What do I do now, so I'm telling you, after 25 years, actually 40 of washing wigs just follow along with me. Even put this video on and do it with me, so I'm just scrunching it a little bit to get the excess hair out. Some people will say: I wrap it in a towel. Some people will want to brush it or comb it. No, no! No! Not when it's wet because you'll brush that gorgeous set and curl right out of the wig, so the one thing I cannot show you that I kind of will, but I will destroy my bathroom right now. Is I'm looking at the wig turn it upside down and give it some good shakes right in the sink? If I would normally walk this to my shower and I am giving it a shake one, two three shakes when I'm holding it upside down at the label. Now, you've really removed the excess water, and now it's damp, it's still drippy, and that is perfect. So, where you see the label, I'm putting my wig hanger and I'm clamping it right on, and here is how it looks, don't be afraid, it's okay, just clamp it on real good. Do not brush it when it's wet. Do not do another thing. I am now going to just hang this in my shower: I'm gon na just leave it overnight and let it drip dry and I'm going to continue with you tomorrow and show you how this wig looks and the next step. Okay, stay tuned, Hey! Ladies, it's me again Rochelle with Godiva secret wigs, and here is the Rochelle that I washed I'm dressed up. I think I'm gon na surprise my husband with a romantic dinner, especially when you see this Rochelle you're gon na understand why so I'm just done clipping it and it kind of looks like this, and it smells great. Ladies you're gon na love, this clean, fresh smell. It feels soft, so I'm going to turn it upside down. There'S my label and I'm gon na give it just a gentle, brushing I'm not yanking again. There'S nothing else to do with it except brush it. So you can see how it's starting to look gorgeous. No rollers no blow dryers, no curling iron, no, nothing and I have to tell you because my hair will frizz in humidity our wigs Godiva secret. Wigs do not frizz, so I think I'm ready to put her on. So let's take the glasses off and let me prepare my hair, so my hair is this long and I am putting it in a nice tight bun with a loop. This hair will go around it and I'm just shoving it in right there. If you have short hair, you can't make a bun it's even easier. If you have super long hair, then I suggest to make two braids then crisscross them in the back whip them right around and put bobby pins going back. So when you put the wig on those bobby pins, aren't going to get stuck in the wig okay, so very easy, no matter how your hair is, if you don't have any hair, you might choose to wear a wig cap or nothing so I'm holding the wig. Here'S my label, I'm holding it upside down now right where these cisors are that I can make the way tighter or looser. Okay, here goes, I'm putting it over my head and I am using my thumbs to tuck my extra hair in okay, now not ready yet so if you bought a new wig and you put it on you're gon na flip and you're gon na return, this wig, But no just hold on a minute. Okay, so I'm gon na bring the wig slowly right up to my hair line, see I have a higher forehead so right. There, then, all of our wigs have little tabs right at the temples right here and they also have wires in them. You don't want the wires going out. You want the wires straight down or even curved in a little bit, because now the wig is right. Next to your face, okay, so let me make sure I'm even oh yeah, so I could tone this wig down, but I mean kind of a glamorous mood today. You know what I mean now with a wig with roots. Do you see how it's kind of crisscross parted? I didn't even do that, but let me show you so with my teased brush on my wire brush. I just made a zigzag. Let me can you see what I did here? It'S really fun to play with our wigs. The other thing I could do is pull my hair up. So you know I'm just I'm not going for perfection, because the only hair, that's perfect perfect is phony hair. So I want it to look like real hair. Let me grab my clip because I want to show you the back now before it went anywhere. I would look in my mirror, but look at the back. I can feel that it looks pretty good. So what else can I do while I'm playing with the wig? I can put it behind my ears, so it's just really the plane of the wig. I could put it up and clip it anyway. This see I'm supposed to be showing you how to wash and then style your wig, but I'm getting into it like. I always do there's so much fun, and this is why our clients own to-220, because every wig is amazing. So for now, because it's a romantic night, I am going to let it be kind of messy. I could tell them the whole thing down. So let me just show you because some of you are gon na say: oh, it's too wild! It'S too crazy. I can make it flatter if I want to that's how Daniel likes it, but I like it full so I'm just kind of brushing up and back I'm using my fingers like a big tooth comb and that's it. I am ready to go. Of course I can secure my wig and we have videos on that. So, if you're new to go dive with secret wigs just know that we have over 300 videos a 10 yell and I have made and it's on art could dive a secret Wade channel. mary allen: Rochelle, who says, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"??!! I have been wearing and caring for Wigs for years but, it was wonderful to hear your insights and get some great tips!! Thank you so very much for sharing. Stay well. Enjoy! Hugs, Mary ♡♡♡

MaryAnne Haffner: Great directions! Easy to follow. Thank you.

Ki Ki: Thanks for letting us know the “usable life” of your wigs! GS wigs are still a bargain when compared to salon coloring and styling prices! ‍♀️

Tina Kupferberg: Rochelle, you make everything you do so much fun! I was thinking about becoming a consultant one day! I've told so many friends about Godiva's Secret Wigs! I was in a TV segment last week here in NYC, and I wore my Billie and all of my friends said, LOVE YOU HAIR! No one knew it was my Billie! Thanks for making wig wearing a fabulous fun way to enjoy life!

cherylwiglover: Another great video; now I want a Rochelle in blond, too. ;o) I bought the "Secret Kit" that has shampoo, conditioner, a wig hanger and brush, all in a great zippered bag. I noticed you have added more kits, too. Some even have travel bags to hold my wig and products! Great ideas!

Betsy Newman: You are just so damn cute!!! I finally got my 3 wigs trimmed, and am loving them! Thx again for another great video!!! ❤

Kimberly Genaw: First time wearing a hair topper. This info is so helpful! Thank you.

Marcie Hoelzle: Just washed my Freedom for the first time and I followed your directions and it looks perfect and smells so fresh! Thank you!

Jean Mastrangelo: It looks great anyway you put it together! That’s true versatility! I love the color I love the roots add about 4 to 6 inches on it and I want it in my closet/on my head

Kathy Herbert: I always wondered what I'd look like as a blonde. I have naturally very dark brown (with reddish undertones). Does that mean I should try a warm blonde? Those platinum colors are fabulous though! P.S. Washing is much easier than I imagined. Been reading about "soaking" them in the sink for a while. Guess it's not necessary.

Christine Oehlman: Rochelle, your wigs and videos are wonderful!! I got my first Alana and washed it for the first time today with your video. It's so soft and shiny. I love it. Fits great. Best. Wig. Ever!! From a new wig gal thank you so much!!! ❤

Norma Fruin: Love the shampoo and conditioner Rochelle. My first Peggy is about 8-9 months old. Not every day wear, but Long 12-14 hour days, 10 days a month (I’m a flight attendant) She seems a little dry. Can you suggest something to make her more radiant looking or is she going to have to be grounded?✈️ I do wash and condition 2x a month.

TZ2OurLittleDogToo: I love your enthusiasm. Your passion always comes through and the quality of these wigs is amazing. Might just get brave and order one. I love the Sheila cut - it's almost identical to how I cut my hair.... is Nutmeg-F the best choice if I am looking for blonde/strawberry blonde but want some depth to the color?

Andrea Mace: Thank you. Very informative!

Linda G: I just washed my Trixie for the first time after watching this video. When I started to clip the tag to hang it up for drying, there wasn’t a tag. Oh well, I’m getting so much enjoyment with my wigs & hairpieces, if that’s the worst I can complain about, I’m doing good. Thanks for the video. I love both of my GodivasSecretWigs. They seriously take 20 years off my age. I had a picture taken BF (before wigs) at the doctors office. The picture followed me to my new doctor. When I checked out, both women said they really liked my hair style. I said thanks, it’s taken 20 years off me. They saw my old picture & said “at least “. Then they said “Let’s get a new picture of you!” That made my whole week. I didn’t tell them it was a wig. I just took the compliments & went on my way. Thanks again.

Kathy Eubanks: Thanks for the detailed instructions! This was a very helpful video. ❤️

Linda p.p.: I wear my wigs for weeks at a time. I do smell them. If you ever had a child who sweated through his head, you know what dirty hair smells like. I check it after I have worn it about ten days. I learned how to take care of my wigs from you and have never had a problem. Thank you for educating me. I love that I can wash it at night and wear it the next morning. I have never had a gummy wig.

Cyndi Lucero: Ok I just washed and conditioned my top wavy piece for the first time, please god let my hair be good for tomorrow! My wavy was getting uncooperative and seemed to be stiff and dirty, I am hoping this helps as this is my first Godiva Secrets hair piece! I get so many compliments on my beautiful here piece, and I hope the after washing her that show make me look young and vibrant as every one of my friends impatiens have complimented me on. However I’m not stressing, because I believe in this product!

Patsy Rodriguez: I love that you teach us how to do shampoo our wigs and how easy it is to wear one, I will buy from you because you help us all the way in wearing a wig or topper which I have for day wear, thanks again

Essanjay: Have to admit you Godivas girls knock it out of the park with your instructional videos.

Jeanne Lowe: Love your gentle presentation,!, I was scared of my new wig ‍♀️

Sassypants57: That wig is beautiful - love it!

Anna Rebecca: Has anyone used Godiva shampoo/conditioner on other wig brands? I saw a video where Woolite laundry soap and Downy brand fabric softener were recommended. Please let me know your experience! I have yet to wash one of my wigs...

Kitsi Dale: This made me giggle as it reminded me of when I wash a wig, I leave it to dry on a wig head in the bath, it gives my poor hubby a scare every time

Guided By Angels (Liz Harrison): Amazing video, washing my thin candice tonight, excited xxx

Angel: Omg, I love this! Rochelle, you are just GORGEOUS!

Rachelle Savoie: Thank you, so informative

M Drsy: Great video! that wig is beautiful!

Marla Robinson: so informative

Miss M: Thanks for another great video! Is there any chance that you could consider adding subtitles for the hearing impaired on your clips please?

Sandy Manning: Great video....beautiful wig. Does washing affect the permatease?

Judy Grayson: Love your shampoo but didn’t order the conditioner. I am almost out so will have to order very soon.

Neida Sánchez: I only have one wig ( freedom- Java frost ) and I wear it almost every day, when you recommend washing it ?

mackergurkp4: Rochelle, what details etc...colour wig are you wearing, looks amazing!

J S: Hi! I was wondering if I should un-velcro my adjusters when washing? I can't seem to find any answers

Debbie Hall: You are so cute! I love watching you. Thanks for your videos. They are so helpful.

Debra Nelson: Hi Rochelle, My wavy long hair topper has the label in the front. I noticed you mentioned the tag is in the back but not on my topper. Was that a boo-boo or are the labels on toppers supposed to be in the front?

C J: I wish you had a showroom in NJ! I would come try on (and BUY!) all the wigs (I have 2 already)

Sue Roberts: Brilliant, thanks lovely Rochelle ( youre never a day older than 48....)

Randi Lund: Thank you so much for this video. Such a natural wig you wear. You look so beautiful and young. 65!!! NO ... I thought you were about 45 !! I am 66 years old. Love and Greetings from Randi in Denmark.

Donna: Do you have a video on how to prevent friz?

Charly Rose Diamond: I just did some trash treasuring and found a Sally from the Night before Christmas costume and red wig along with it. And since it came from the trash I thought I might wash it before trying it on and I came across your video. I just wanted to say thank you so much for the info but especially for the laughs. You are too cute I enjoyed watching you get all sexy for your date night. Hope was a great night and the fun continued after you got home!!

BG Smith: Yax her and her daughter both have great features so look good on almost every piece!

Sonia Ogonowski: Great directions...how do I purchase one ?

Sandra Dsouza: Grt way of explaining...Jus loved ur Video it ws fun watching it. ❤

Laurie Anne: That wig color you are wearing is a perfect for you!!

Nancy Johnson: Well the first wig I washed it turned out very nice, but now the second one didn't come out as nicely. I don't know what I did as I'm so certain to rinse all the soap out and all the conditioner. But it's weird as I cannot tell that it's been washed! It's looks dull and it lacks that silkiness that it had when I first wore it. I may try washing it one more time. One thing that I did notice as my water is not as soft as your water as yours really soaps up a lot more than mine does. Maybe that's the problem. I don't have hard water but it isn't as soft as when before we moved and I use to have water softener. But that having been said nobody including my realtor has a water softener down here. I know one thing I need to get me a Rochelle in Champagne-R for my birthday present in 2 weeks!

Diana: Very informative. TY

Wolf & Lion: U r so good in explaining

Ginger Reid: That is gorgeous on you!

Beverly A Ritz: I am waiting for the arrival of my synthetic wig shampoo and conditioner; however, I want to wash my wig right away. In a pinch, is it ever wise to use a gentle shampoo and conditioner--sulfate and alcohol free--while I wait for its arrival. Loved your video and will be looking at your wigs. Thanks!

Candy Chand: You are so cute. Only you could make washing a wig entertaining. ☀️

Donna Sennett: I love that shampoo and conditioner

Christine Dungworth: I thanks for this video , I love my Top piece, I would like another one , but the important tax We’re over £70 ,so I can’t get another, xx I’m in England

MsGolftango: If it isn't dirty but needs a refresh, can I just spritz it with water and scrunch? Or is it best to use shampoo and conditioner on it?

Mary Ross: I just placed on order last night. I forgot to order the shampoo and conditioner. Can I still do that?

100 Seconds to Midnight: Hi ! I see it’s a cold water wash , why is it important to do that ?

Kanaparty Rao: Very informative, looking for a wig l am 80 years old 4th year cancer remission patient. From India who is looking for wig. I am loosing lots of hair on back and on the top. What are your suggestions

Christine Jordan: You said it would last between 9 and 12 months. I think you meant years.

Kath Mann: Excellent!

Leighann McGowan: Looks great .....im.always afraid to buy a wig online I always get scammed.if I dont like it they make it impossible to send back I usually just go to my local.wig store ....these wigs look amazing tho

Sassypants57: I have an issue with washing my wigs. Several of my wigs, after drying, have almost grayish areas on the top. The areas will look almost dry with what looks like a bit of dust or something, almost like a bit of color washed out. I use a wig shampoo, cold water, let them soak a bit, then rinse thoroughly. Sometimes I use conditioner, but not always. Then roll up in a towel for a minute or two, then hang up the exact same way you do. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. This doesn’t happen with every wig, just random. Any ideas?

Vicki Jordan: Thank you so much

E B: Hi Michelle, is your wig especially was cut to have its hairstyle, or it was sold with this hairstyle? I like the layers in your wig. If it sells like this, I want to buy it.

Madison Heights: Can’t find these in the UK… wish I could.

Jackie Savoy: I just got my kit and washed my wig Kayla. She is not dry yet, but after washing out the shampoo, and then putting the cream rinse on, when I rinsed out the cream rinse it had a lot of bubbles. I did my best to get the bubles out but wondered if that meant I did not get all the shampoo out?

Jan Bachok: Hi Rochelle, do you have consultant in the NY area?

Santra Sina: Hi ,whats the name of the wig you washing

Shelley Messier: I've been thinking about it for years! I'd love to.$?

Rose Ahmed: Fantastic

Neima Bhushan: You are so pretty ❤

Claire Moore: Hi Daniel this is Claire Moore from Delaware you help me with a wig that the back was kinky from robbing may I bug you again how to fix it again thank you for the help sorry I am a past part 2 some day I will order the wig dry clip the rat tell come and shampoo and conditioner Part 3 how much does a wig cost my money can go up to $ 60.00 dollars sorry I made big money mistake I hope everyone is ok over the weekend 4passaway from this bug they were friend I mat this year take care my friend

Linda p.p.: I have a friend who wears her wigs until they are too dirty to wear. Then she throws them away. For the life of me I cannot figure out why except she doesn’t want to restyle them. It is so easy I would do it for her but she is very set in her ways. I have followed your instructions exactly, for 4 years now. When my wig begins to smell the least bit, I wash it, after I have worn it 10- 14 days. People you can do this. My wigs go back to the style I have brushed them into, almost like they have a memory. I restyle with my fingers. I have never used products in my wigs but I doubt that would make any difference. All my wigs are above the shoulder length and I hang them upside down to dry. I wash it one night and wear it the next day. I have NEVER, not once combed a wet wig. Good luck ladies.

Martha Turner: Rochelle, around minute 5:40 you say that if you take care of your wig, the wig should last around 9 -12 months. Did you actually mean 9-12 years? I'm hoping that's the case.

Donna Harper: So I washed my very first wig. It wasn't a Godiva wig. I did use the shampoo and conditioner from Godiva. The wig looks awful. I will have to pitch it. I do have a hair piece from Godiva that I will wash next. I will say I am scared to wash my Godiva wig.

myrtle powers: How much are they mh hair is falling out. I am useing all I can find to restore. My blood pressure medication is doing it. I saw youf show last night and how those wigs make each lady look so pretty the blond look so good in that mocky color it just made her look better yhd red head I think thst straight red made you see her pretty face.i like Ed them because it look cooler than old time wigs. I made need one.or two

Donna Sennett: Does that wig come in red

Joann Reagan: Do you carry large size

Dawn Klumpp: I yal l!!!!

Colleen Hurley: LOL @ I'm almost 65.....whadda ya want from me

myrtle powers: Whst color is in thsy one .I have dark hair with blona large streaks.

Susanne Samuelsson: Hi Rochelle, my name is Susanne and live in Sweden and fell in love with the wig you washed and put conditioner on. Love the color of ( champagne ) with those dark roots. I have never ever weared a wig and i'm a blong going grey and i'm so fed up dying and styling my hair because it last for 5 minutes and i have a hard time using hairspray and such tings. I have quite thin typical nordic baby hair so it's qite hard too and i suffer from allergies, asthma and fibromyalgia too. I get easily tired and have aches and pains. I wonder if you sell your amazing wigs in Sweden too?! Love the hanger too and it would be great to go up from bed and shower and put on a wig and simply look great...love the things you cann do that you show us with the wig...just play around! I live in a windy town and the wig needs to be secure too even during stormy weather. Have a nice day...love to you and your family! Susanne in Sweden.
