Hi YouTube, so I'm back again to show you how to make a lace cap, I'm going to be using a stretch, lace instead of lace, because it just shows up a lot better on my camera. So we're going to start off with my stretch, lace and I'm just showing you that it is stretch Lee it's not regular, Swiss lace or anything like that and again, I'm just going to make a cap with all of this because it shows up better on my Camera, this is a template that I made. It is just a little bit rounder and farther up on one side and the other, and you can make your stretch part as big or as small as you want. But this is just the template that I have created and I use for all of my basic laced caps. So I'm just gon na take a piece of my stretch and make sure when you're cutting out your lace, that your grain is aligned the proper way. My grain is always going to be vertically because that's just the way that I like to ventilate, so I cut that piece of lace out using my template, and Here I am starting to pin it onto my my canvas head on the stretch piece. I do not put any darts, so I'm just going to manipulate it and pin it in such a way that no darts are needed and I'm just going to pin it all the way around probably two inches leaving two inches apart just so that is tacked down To my to the form of my cameras, huh now, as you can see, I have finished tacking down the stretch middle piece and it's tacked down about two to two-and-a-half inches apart all the way around and I left about an inch or a half an inch of The lace on on the edges - and that just makes it makes there be room for me to sew the rest of the cat together and again just make sure that you keep the grain of your lace going vertically or horizontally. But don't do it. You know diagonally or anything like that. Now we're going to work on the back and my brain is going vertically as I'm showing you here and I'm basically just going to place the lace onto the back. And I want to make sure that the sides are going to be right. Going down the middle of the ear tab, as I'm showing you right here and I'm just gon na go ahead and pin it straight down straight down the side and I'm gon na. Do this on both sides straight down from the ear tab. As long as you're not worrying too much about it being perfectly straight or even it's a fairly easy process, it's just really important to be mindful where the grain of your lace is going, so that your ventilation can come out right. As you can see, I'm just sending it all the way around the back of the nape and straight up both ear tabs. Now I'm going to go ahead and cut off the rest of the lace, make making sure that I leave at least an inch to a half an inch of lace around where I put or around where I tended since I'm making this with all stretch. Lace. I'M being very mindful that I do not pull and tug on the front in the back, but when you're laying the center part down, it is okay to stretch and pull the center part, and I think I actually will be using this on a Lewis lace wig, Which I'll show you guys at the later time, but right now, I'm just showing you how I make this lace cat and how I have just pinned the back down now we're gon na work on the front again, I laid my lace so that the brain of It is going vertically and I'm just going to go ahead and share the pins that I've already laid going down the sides and I'm going to pin it all the way around the hairline and around the hairline. I'M tending it about an inch apart and again, I'm just sharing the pins. I have already placed below and sticking them through both pieces of lace. Now, I'm just showing you how I have the front of the cap up and down, and I'm just going to add a few more on to the side. Now I'm just going to work on pinning the back and I'm only going to put two darts on the back of this and hopefully you'll be able to see how I do that. But I'm just starting off by pinning in the shape of the centerpiece. Now I'm making a dart all I did to make my dart was simply fold it over the excess lace, and then I pinned it twice. So I'm gon na go ahead and do a dart on the other side. By doing the same thing, just taking the excess lace and folding it - and I pinned it twice now - I'm going to go ahead and cut off the leaf again, leaving about a half an inch, and here is the cap all pinned down. This is what we call blocking the lace down, here's the front and, as you can see it, let's just go straight up and down the side and pinned around the nape in the back and we'll stretch. Piece is also pin and it's pinned in the shape of the stretch piece. As you can see, there goes the darts pin down and the top of the stretch pin. So now I'm going to take out the pins and I'm going to secure the clamp. The cap, together just by sliding the pins into the lace, as you see me doing here, making sure that I get under all the layers of the lace and I'm doing this in preparation to sew the lace together and I'm just gon na work. All the way around where the laces joined, hitting it together and taking out any extra pins that are not needed. As you see me doing right here now, I have the the lace all pinned together as you can see only where the lace meets, and I also pin the darts on the side and, as you can see now I can take the cap off and I can Start the process of sewing it together, even though this is made with all stretch. This is exactly how what makes my legs count in this clip, I'm just showing you how I hand sew them together. I don't need to use a sewing machine, because these stitches are just temporary. What will hold the lace together will be the actual ventilation, so I'm just sewing it together. Using invisible threads here is the finished product. The lace is all songs together, and this will end up being a medium cap. I did cut off any extra lace that was hanging over on the scene. Thank you so much for watching. I hope this was helpful.

Rebecca Thompson: Hey could you do a printable pattern for the full lace cap please?? Xoxo

Alexis Major: HI if I'm understanding your question correctly, you would like to know how the lace does not unravel when you cut off whats extra... well when your making your cap you will be overlapping the lace so that in those areas where it will be sewed you will be sewing through 2 layers of lace. This is temporary because once you start ventilating through both layers of the lace, the hair will actually hold the cap together. At that time you don't even need the thread at all :-) hope that answers it!

Alexis Major: No problem! Thank you so much for watching!!!

Alexis Major: Thanks!!!! Thank you for watching I really appreciate it! :-)

Mercy Alexander: Where do you buy the stretch lace? Nice video by the way.

Vanessa Shaw: Would you mind showing how to create a custom made template for a lace frontal? I usually wear the back of my hair out and use a frontal to fill out my hairline. No matter how careful I am mine are never quite right. No matter how carefully I outline my hairline..(it's is very uneven) take my measurements it's always wrong. One final question. Why do you use "stretch lace"? Is it better? I do hope you see this.

Alexis Major: Thank you so much! :-) Aw there you go again making my day! So glad I found you as well ;-)
