Wig Review - Jon Renau "Zara"

I've gotten several requests to do a video about the wig that I wear, so here it is! It's in the color Shaded Praline, or 12FS8.

Hey everyone, so I've gotten a couple of requests to do this type of video, so that is what I'm doing. It'S kind of review kind of just me giving you information, but it is about my wig I've gotten several comments and questions about the wig that I have and like where I got it. Do I like it that sort of thing so I figured, I would tell you all of that information and let you know what I think in case any of you are looking for a good quality wig. The wig that I wear is a Jean Renault Zara and it's in the color shaded praline or the number four. The color is 12 FS 8. The shaded part basically just means that it is rooted. It has a different color at the roots and then fades out blond to make it look more natural. It is a lace front wig, which I absolutely love, lace. That means that the front part right here is made out of lace so about an inch or so back. It starts with lace and it gives all zoom your ends, so you can see. So that is what the wig hair line looks like with the lace front. So you can see it kind of gives the illusion of a natural hair line, which I absolutely love. It'S also a monofilament top, which means that it can be parted anywhere and wherever you part it. It looks like scalp. So as you can, as you can see, I have it parted on this side, but it looks like there's. Actually it looks like my scalp. It doesn't look like a wig, but I could part it over here. If I wanted to - and you can see, it also looks like scalp over there, so whoo, so no matter where I part it, it looks natural. I absolutely love, love love, love the roading. I love how it looks like natural grow out. It looks so so natural, and that was that was the thing that I was most looking for in a wig was how I don't want it to look like I'm wearing a wig. I want it to look like my natural hair and that's what I've achieved with this wig. I am so in love with it. Let me zoom your out, so you can see the whole wig, so forgive my little wire here. This is how long it is. It'S a fairly long wig, it's shorter than my hair was before I started chemo, but it still gives me the feeling of having long hair. Let me show you what the back looks like. So this is what the back looks like and it's just a really nice cut. I love the layers. I love how it's got like this shorter, like long bang in front, and then it's got just a really nice cut. This wig is a couple of months old. I didn't take the best care of it when I first got it. I just didn't, have a clear understanding of how to properly maintain a wig, and so it's gotten it kind of it's kind of in rough shape. The ends are frayed, which is something that happens over time with longer wigs they get very tangled easily and therefore, when you're brushing them out, it phrase phrase the ends, but I have actually I just. I bought a new version of this. I got the exact same wig exact same color. I love it that much and so I'm kind of going to repurpose this wig and chop it and make it into kind of a long bob. But it's still, I mean it's a little rough um down in the lower part, especially underneath, but it still looks nice and yeah. It'S it's such a great wig. I would honestly recommend this to anybody. I'Ve gotten so many compliments on this wig and like people in the store will tell me. Oh, I love your hair, it's kind of like thanks. I don't even know how to react when people when people say stuff like that, but it's a really nice feeling for somebody to comment and give you a compliment like that when you don't actually have any hair left it kind of it's kind of nice, even though It is still a wig. I am going to show you one of my other wigs now that you've seen like the part and the monofilament top and like the lace front and stuff, I'm going to show you one of my other wigs and show you the difference. This is one that I got at a local wig shop. It is the brand year it wasn't, it wasn't cheap, but it looks cheap, especially after I compare it to the one that I have on. So this is not a lace front and it's not a monofilament top and you can see how there's not really apart and there's a bunch of little shorter hairs that are coming out where it is parted and it doesn't have the lace front top. And so it just kind of this one's not as noticeable as because it does kind of have like some some things that are coming down, but um. It does not look like a natural hairline at all. The cap on this one is really really rough on the inside the cap on this one is not I just like the quality of the genre. No - and this is my this is my second type of genre no wig. I actually have a genre, No okay, so this this is going to tell you how much I like my Zara. I have a genre. No human hair wig. The quality is incredible, but I like this wig better than my human hair wig. I have not worn my human hair wig one time since I got this one. That is how much I love this wig. I don't know if it's a wig itself or if it's just the color, but I like this wig ten times better than my human hair. Wig and my human hair wig is pretty darn gorgeous yes, so I like it. I have not worn this wig at all, since I bought this one. I have other wigs that are just sitting on my dresser at home, just chillin because they don't ever get worn, because I like this one so like I said I did just buy a new replacement. One of this exact same wig same color, same everything, and so I'm kind of show you what it looks like out of the box. I ordered I ordered this from wigs by Patti's pearls calm. I love that website. I love dealing with Patty is so knowledgeable. She has a bunch of YouTube videos and she's kind of like a wig guru, and she has her own website. It sells a bunch of different brands on there and Jean Renault is one of them, and I will, if the if they have a wig, that I'm looking for on that site. I will absolutely buy it from that site. They'Re, just so easy to deal with their customer service is great, their shipping times are fast and they have sales really often, I think, once a month and they're really good sales. I ended up getting two of these, so I have to replace my wigs because they were basically buy one get one free, so I have taken this out of the box one time. So this isn't exactly how it comes in the box, but it's pretty much how it comes so in here it's got some tissue paper and then you open up the tissue paper and the wig is here. The wig actually comes on this thing, all neatly folded and stuff. Like I said, I've put it back in here. It comes with this card, with tips on how to wash the wig and take care of the wig, along with some tips on how to take care. Synthetic hair, specifically oh - and I didn't mention that, yes, this is synthetic, it's not human hair, it's not human hair mix, it's synthetic hair, but it's synthetic hair that looks real. So this is how it comes all this top okay, the cap is just so so so soft, like I just got done like touching the cap from that other wig, and here I'm touching this one, and it is so soft okay. So this is what it looks like inside out. You can see this is the lace front part, so it starts about an inch back. This is all lace, and then this is the monofilament top. That gives you the look of realistic hair and then, on the other. This is the like the back part of the head, it's so breathable and it's so like this is all kind of open. I can stick my finger through to the a part of the wig, so it's really really ventilated and it's comfortable to wear, even if the weather is warm, so I'm going to flip it and turn it the right side out. So this is what it looks like out of the box. As you can see same exact thing, it is, I forgot how soft this wig is until I pulled the new one out of the box like compared to mine, that's gotten kind of like a dry feeling. It is just so nice out of the box, so um when a wig is new when it, when you first get it, it can be kind of overly shiny, especially blonde wigs and one easy way to take care of that is dry, shampoo or baby powder. If you don't have dry shampoo, but suave makes a really good dry shampoo for like three dollars at the grocery store. So that's the dry shampoo that I use when I have hair, and so I still had it when I got my wig. So that's what I use so dry shampoo and I just kind of spray it over the entire thing and then kind of just shake it out, and that really helps with the shine and it makes it look more natural and more like real hair. Sorry, I'm kind of out of frame and then just kind of shake it out and make sure it's kind of all over. So I'm going to show you how I put on the wig so bear with me: I'm going to have a bald head for a second and, as you can see, I don't wear a cap or anything underneath number one they're still dry shampoo in the ER, the Cat, you can still see under the the lace part, so I don't like that Plus this wig is so soft. It'S not like. I have to worry about like dealing with an itchy cap or something like that. It is really really comfortable just to wear on its own, so that's what I do it makes it makes wearing a wigs, so easy, alright. So this is the new wig that I'm going to put on, and what I do is I kind of just turn the front of it inside out and make sure that make sure that no hairs are stuck underneath and I kind of turn in my chair. So it's kind of inside-out. This is the lace front, so I take the front and I take it in my left hand, and I take the back in my right hand, and I press the front to my forehead and then pull the rest of it over so, and I have not tried This on yet, and so the part is not how I like it, but that's easy to fix. Okay, so now that the wig is on I'm going to pull the back down and then right where the sideburns are there's like a couple of metal tabs, and so I'm just making sure that those are lined up, so the metal tabs are right here. So you just want the metal tabs where your sideburns would be, and then you press them down and kind of lock them in place. So I'm going to get my part situated again. I love love, love the monofilament top. That makes parting this thing easy, and then I just comb it all down. You like the UH, the tag, that's still on it I'll take that off here, okay, so this is what the brand-new wig looks like and, like I said long, legs do tend to tangle. Really easily, but I like having long hair huh, it's worth it, it's just a little extra of cute. Okay tag go back behind okay, so this is what the wig looks like straight out of the box. It is so pretty it's such a pretty cut. There'S just the right amount of hair, it's not too thick to where it looks on that and it's just such a pretty cut. I love it. I want my real hair when it grows back to be like this, I mean, and I love the lace front to where, if I wanted to you know, pull it back, I could do that. It would be hard to put this on a ponytail. You'D have to do one that kind of covers your ears, just because you're not going to have any sideburns, and so it's going to look kind of weird that the way it ends right here, but I mean, if you were to do something over your ears, you Could do that since it's a synthetic wig, you can't brush it like you would normal hair, you can't use a normal hair brush, otherwise it will fray tannins really badly. So there are a couple of options you can use. This is what I use the most. I just got this at Sally's. I think it was like three dollars and it came with another brush. But I like the wide pick like the wide toothed comb, because I feel like it gets the tangles out, but it doesn't destroy the hair as quickly as using a thinner brush. You know a brush with more bristles. Would they also make brushes that are designed specifically for wigs for synthetic wigs and it's a wire brush and that's what this is? And so? But it's got more bristles, but I don't like using this one as because, since it is a long way again, it tangles this kind of makes the hair fray a little faster. So this would be my choice when brushing out the wig, so something that I learned a little later on after I started. Wearing my old wig and after it gotten a little damaged is to use a detangler and there are detanglers. There are hair products that are made specifically for wigs, a shampoo conditioner detangler. That sort of thing use a detangler when combing this thing out. This is the genre no detangler you can buy it in a kit from wigs buy Patti's pearls. It comes with the detangler, a conditioner, a shampoo and then one other product. I don't remember exactly what it is, but it comes in a four pack and the seat angler is fantastic. It works the same way as a regular detangler. Would you just spray it on and comb through and then let it air dry? I use this about every other day. It doesn't it safe for a daily basis, but it recommends using it two to three times a week, so I usually use it like every other day or every other time. I wear my wig. If I don't wear my wig every day, which I usually don't and then it recommends that you shampoo and condition your wig after every 21 uses or or so so, um they're really really easy to shampoo and condition you just put some cool water in a sink With some of the shampoo you put, the wig in you kind of swirled around, leave it for five to ten minutes and then rinse it out with cold water and then put it's a leave-in conditioner that you put in super super easy um, and you only have To do it every other, like every other week or every three weeks, so it's really really easy to take care of these. You just have to be careful, brushing them out because it will kind of destroy the hair underneath here yeah. I love this wig. I feel like it looks super natural. It looks real. I love the color, it's such a nice mix of blondes, it's really natural, it's not one solid color, but it doesn't have any like chunky highlights or anything like that so yeah. I would recommend this wig to anybody who's. Looking for a good quality wig that looks like real hair. It gives me so much more confidence and I love and I love being able to walk around and not have to wonder if people can tell that I'm wearing a wig it. It doesn't look like it's just. It'S made this process so much easier, and another thing that I want to mention that I really like about this wig is that it comes with the lace pre-cut. Let me show you an example, so this is not a genre, no wig. This is a future wig, but it's also a lace front, but it comes with an inch of lace in front of the hairline, so you're responsible for cutting lace yourself, and it's really nerve-racking, especially if you've spent a lot of money on the wig. It'S kind of nerve-wracking to do so. I obviously haven't cut this one, yet I just haven't gotten around to it. I haven't really wanted to wear it because I have this one. I mean it's a pretty wig right yeah, so this still has the lace intact. This comes with the lace pre-cut, it's already like completely perfect, and you don't have to have to try and cut it yourself and risk screwing it up. So that's something else. I really really like about this wig. I also want to mention on the color that I use to do my arm rows to match this wing. I like doing my eyebrows to match more the route from the actual blonde, so, as you can see, my eyebrows are darker than this blonde so that they match the roots. Well, this that I used today was the anastacio Brahe's pencil in the color dark brown and then the dip brow pomade that I use is medium brown, so they both go really really well with this way. Thank you guys so much for watching. If you have any questions or any requests for future videos, please leave them in the comment section down below and I will see you next time. Bye,

Sheso Madeline: GREAT Video and information! I am just wondering, which store did you purchase this wig? Before watching the video, i seriously thought that was YOUR real hair!! I assumed you were going to tie up your hair and place the actual wig on top till you revealed the hair was your wig! It's amazing and well done!!

Tandra Wimberly: You look beautiful! I currently have a Follea Gripper Wig. The follea wigs are definitely an investment. But they last for several year. They can withstand 60 mph wind, because of the fit and silicone that fits to your head. They are amazing.

L M: I saw you in previous videos and I wouldve never ever known you were wearing a wig. Wow! Looks so real

junbug1029: Erin, Patti can refurbish you first Zara for you. This is beautiful. I just got a cut and modified Zara from a friend here on YT. I have issues with the lace irritating my forehead. Do you? Good luck on your chemo and cure! xoxo Joan

Susana Maria: Hi Erin. Did you get well with you linphoma? Can you please post more videos about it. Love to see your hair now.

Nikki: Heyy Erin! you look so amazing! i hope you are doing well. I just got my Zara in the mail yesterday. and after watching your Video, i had been sooo excited. but after i got her, i was very Disappointed, as funny as this may sound, besides the lace front, it is very fake and wiggie looking. a Ton! and i mean thick hair, i have a $45 wig that looks more natural than my zara, so yeah idk what they have changed. thick, she is very thick, so thick that you can very easily tell that it is a wig. like most of the hair in the front, falls down in my face, and the bangs staying back, forget it, not gonna happen. yeah, so like, idk what to do, bc it just looks soooo huge on my head. my circumference is like 22./1/2 so, any thoughts??

Anne Hansen: i thought this was your real hair! wow :D you look so beautiful, and the wig suits you so well <3 I just want to say thet you look stunning with or without hair, you are pretty and strong -stay that way <3 :)

Chillin' with the Coursens: Thank you for this video! I cannot believe that is a wig. The hairline is unreal. You are beautiful, even bald. I don't I would look that good bald.

Tammie Miller: I commented on doing the bleach treatment and wanted to elaborate. If your wig has permatease it will flatten that part of it out quite a bit which I actually love because it lays closer to my head and I feel it looks more natural. Also, I've done this treatment several times to my wigs, actually every time I wash my wigs I do this treatment. Good luck!

Silly Putty: When the video started I thought, wow she's got alot of hair to shove into a wig cap. Lol I had no idea you had a wig on...just beautiful.

kwood14023: Thank you for sharing....so excited to try them out now.

Cj zharraca: OH, and you look beautiful with the wig and without! I can tell that your beautiful face could wear any style of hair!

Michelle Duran: Hey Erin! Which option do you recommending choosing when you buy from Pattis? No Customization, Patti's Signature Hairline Only, or Hairline & Hand Sewing of the Cap? I am so glad you posted this video, as I am about to start chemo treatment and I have fallen in love with this wig on you! I must have it! :)  Thank you! -Michelle

henrietta henson: When people say i love your hair ..just smile @say tha nks .....after all it is your hair you bought it so its yours xxxlooks lovely ♡♡♡

Lpg 8: Hi, I just wanted to say that I went online and ordered this wig. I was able to get 10% off and I ordered it on Friday and I can't believe it was shipped out the same day, I will have this wig on Monday. You weren't kidding when you said they have fast shipping. thank you so much for the info, I'm very excited to get this wig.

Jen Mumma: Would have never known it was a wig without the close up...I was actually waiting to see the wig. Wish i could find a style that i liked that looked that good on me as this does on you.

Teri LaBrecque: Wow! Thanks for sharing. That is a perfect wig! I don’t like any of mine...Lol! Where did you say you bought it? I need a light brown one. Doing chemo also, and have no hair left.

Patricia Endsley: Thanks Erin! You are beautiful with or without hair!

Dystonia Overcoming: I use wigs for distonia in order to relieve cold at my head and neck! I saw Zara wig but its a great review so great!!!

Colleen Galway: Hi. I was wondering if you waited for your hair to fall out or did you get it cut short before it started? I loath the idea of cutting off my long hair but the thought of clumps falling out makes me feel sick. I have a wig ready to go (Jon Renau as well, the Amber which I love the look of - very similar to yours only with a bit of beachy wave). Thanks for your posts. I love them!

Bible Believer: Very natural looking!

Zeynep Sertkaya: You are so beautiful! I watched the whole video with my mouth open like AAAAA you literally amazed me <3

Catherine Jackson: Have you ever used wig tape or the glues?  I have trouble keeping a wig in place so I have been researching the tape or glue method.  I guess you leave the wig on for up to three weeks using those methods.  I am curious as to peoples opinions on this.  I haven't bought any tape or glue yet.

Mary E: Thanks so much for the video it was helpful. Can you tell me how much that type of wig costs approx?

Maddi Bruhns: This wig looks so much better than my wig. My wig costed $900. (It was real human hair) I wish I knew about this brand before I got mine because mine is very noticeable that it's a wig. Thanks for sharing! I will definitely take note of this brand and recommend them to others (hopefully not have to get another for me)!!

BelleDeJour224: I just got mine in Venice blonde I love the cut and style but even with dry shampoo this still looked very fake sadly. For a synthetic, it just did not look like human hair at all. And the point is for it to not look like a wig

Kari B Gold: Erin, there are lashes that aren't too long and fake looking that you would look beautiful in. I've worn lashes for years so I really feel like a pro about what looks natural since I've worn them for so long!,:-)

SunnyNutQueerios: Looks so natural

linz p: I see she was going through chemo a couple years ago, is she ok? She hasnt posted in 2 yrs

Tania Murray: can you let me know which colours have the roots in them .looks so fab

Kelly Groves: DID you use : irline™ replicates the natural hair look by camouflaging the perimeter of the wig with small hairs where it meets the scalp. Now you can pull your hair into a clip or push it behind your ears without worrying if people will see your wig line! From Patti?

Katrina JB: Thank you. I think I'm going to pick the Zara. Good information.

Michael Arrington: you look great!! and the wig looks so real

Dominque S. C.: it looks really natural :D

Portia Kultgen: Hi, Erin. I am a new subscriber and about to start my chemo. I wonder if your wig is human hair and how much it is. Did your insurance cover?

Renee's Channel: looks awesome -- you can razor sideburns and baby hair to wear it up.

Abandoned Account: Wow, that is incredible on you, so beautiful!! Suits you really well.... thanks

Nani Womack: Wow so natural!

Bugseee Boo: Your hair is super gorgeous. It does look like it's your hair!!!

Seeun Jeon: It looks so real and fit perfect for you

Sonia Astacio: That looks so good on you.

Bonnie Buice: Thank you so much for this video. I am ordering one.

Lisa Hurtt: You look cute without the wig!

Nicole Senior: Please post a link for the wig and the site you order from. Thanks!

Diane Ferraro: Hi Erin My name is Diane I'm from Erie PA and I have been diagnosed with Brest cancer and I will be having chemotherapy and radiation. When I found out I will loose my hair I was so scared of what I will look like and what to do and I found your videos and you have made it easier for me!!!! The tips and I love your wig. My question is when you ordered it from wigs by pattis pearls did you customize or do patti's signature hairline or the my sizing. Please let me know because I really want the exact same one you have. Thank you for all your help. God bless you and I hope all the best for you. I hope and pray everything is going well for you. Thanks again Diane

ROSSIGRL584: I have watched this video probably 4-5x now. Not that I don't appreciate the reviews done by those who are selling wigs, but this one seems to designate with me the most. There are so many gorgeous wigs out there. And, I'd love to try them all. But, this one looks the most like my bio hair did two months ago. I really don't want the additional attention that wearing one of the voluminous, curly, thick, short, etc would bring me. At least, not now. I've had long blonde hair for about 10 years with one bob cut when I began my oral chemo 6 yrs ago. Beginning in Jan this year, my hair fell out very rapidly. Within 2-3 weeks. I had it buzzed. What I'm looking for in a wig is something that looks like my hair has for the last 10 years. I want people who know me to not be reminded of my hair loss because a wig looks like me. Tough to put into words. But, long story short... I appreciate this video. ps... I have about 4 bottles of the suave dry shampoo as well. I'd been using it for a little over a year. And had stocked up. So, I'm pleased to see that it won't go to waste.

Eden Seven: That does NOT look like a wig.  Just beautiful, I want one.

gingercarol: Right after I posted my question about your beautiful wig on your makeup video, this video began playing, so disregard the other! Are you a teacher or trainer? If not....you should be

Mira Domin: Oh you r so beautiful. I will never tell u r wearing a wig. They both look so natural on your pretty head. All the best in New Year. Thank you for awesome video. I learned a lot. Hugs from Canada.

Jane Wilson: Hi Erin,I have that same wig but in a different color and mine seams fuller then yours making it look like a wig why does yours seam thinner? did you do anything to it? also the lace is extremely itchy on my head. How do you wear it without anything underneath?

My simple tips: From which website I can get this wig?

toni sargent: hi love the wig I just started wearing wigs you see I have thinning  and med bald spots  so now I'm forced to wear wigs  since its so bad  the dr said  it might grow back it might not he didn't know  if it will or not

Michele Hadley: Great video. Your wig color looks different from the website. Is your video color truer than the website? I love your wig color!

Julie Judd: absolutly perfect

sucharita patra: Wow this is really amazing.. i have one question. If there is high wind or anything will it be blown or something?Pls reply.

Leni Koshy: Hi Erin... I just loved your video... I have alopecia n i have lost almost 90% of my hair... I would like to buy this wig.. I am using one as of now but it doesn't look as natual... I would like to know, how i can buy this and whether they ship worldwide.. Thank you n god bless :)

Diana Witty: I don’t understand why these wig companies don’t do lace from ear to ear, like the Chinese companies do eg RPG show. Without this, the temple to the ear gives it away, looks suspicious, though they have the color, texture and fiber down pat. Plus, I hate permatease .
