Hi, I'm Danielle with Godiva secret wigs. Today, I'm going to be showing you how to turn a monofilament wig into a custom top piece now, whether your monofilament wig just has monofilament on the top like this or even. If it has lace front like this, you can still do the same thing. So the main thing you want to do when you're making a custom top piece is just look and see how much you want to cut so usually you're, just gon na cut this band kind of all the way around. But if you want more hair, you can also cut down as low as you want as well. So I'm going to show you how to do it, cutting up here to make a top piece just for your crap. So, like I said, you want to find it's kind of it's like a thick felt piece and you're gon na end up cutting just below that piece. So here by the front, it's important not to cut all the hair so just below the felt piece. I'M gon na turn it over and I'm gon na actually separate the hair and look for where you can actually see an area in here that there's no hair and that's where I'm gon na cut in the front. So I'm gon na kind of separate it. I'M gon na cut right here between the two West's and there you just cut between these two else's like this. I just cut it so now it's nice and open so now, you're gon na see up here that was just below the little felt piece. So now I'm gon na cut all the way around. So the first thing I'm gon na do is just cut off this little extra weft, no biggie. Now I'm gon na kind of see where that's you me where it's attached to this felty, so I'm gon na kind of pull - and I see, there's a little waif attached here - I'm just gon na cut it right out and then I see that there's a little Like elastic right here, so I'm gon na just cut between the between the wig and the weft, so I'm not cutting hair, I'm just cutting a little pieces of elastic. So again, I'm looking and there's a little left here and then again here is that elastic. So I'm gon na do this, I'm all the way around. If there was a weft, you cut it, there's elastic you cut it, but I'm always cutting just the elastic. I'M not just going deep in and cutting hair wholesale so make sure you're cutting very shallow again. There'S a little left, Oh so I'm basically taking off everything below the crown and then I'm going to do the same thing on this side that I did on the other side, where I'm gon na look for the space between the wefts and cut this hair. It'S like I said I don't want to cut a ton of the hair off. You will cut a little and the friend that's okay, so I cut all that off so now I just have this top piece so excuse the quality of this way. This is an old wig, that's been discontinued, it's been donating it back to us for this teaching so nor the quality, but so this now is gon na, be a lace front crown top piece, so it would lay on the head just like this and then what You would do is you're gon na take four of these little metal clips and you're gon na sew them into the wig, and we have another video about how to sew metal wig clips into your wig. You can just follow that video and see what to do. You'Re basically gon na put two clips in the front. If it's a lace frame, you want to put it behind the lace. If it's not a lace front, you would put it just here just back a little bit so you're gon na put one here and then you're gon na put one on the other side here and then on the bottom, in the back you're gon na put one On each side, if you want you to put one in the very back, you can put them on the sides wherever you want. Usually we just have the four clips that we put two on the front two in the back and it will make it completely secure. So that is how to turn a lace front or monofilament wig into a top piece by E. You

Cheryl J: You can also cut 3-4 wefts below the mono top, keeping more hair for thickness. The clips must then be sewn on the wefts, which is tricky. You’ll then have topper that really hugs the top of your head and covers more area.

Katherine Blanco: Thank you this is brilliant.

twominutetips: Excellent and shared - thank you.

Marjie NS816: Can adhesives be used on the top part of your wigs?

S Small: Thanks for the these very useful tips. "Everything Old Is New Again". lol

Lipurl73: Thank you for showing.

Smiley: Thanks Danielle! Kinda new here

A: Hi Danielle. Once again, I'm mentioning that the wig should be in blond so we can actually see what you're doing and the camera shouldn't be on your face, it should be on the your hands & the wig. We can't see what you're doing without a close up of your hands and a lighter color wig. Thanks for all you do share with us though I really appreciate it and you!
