Lace Closures 101

Happy birthday to me, i'm so excited today is my 42nd birthday um last year at this time. No one knew this, but i was posting about my birthday. While i was laid up in a hospital bed in icu and today to celebrate my birthday, i opened up enrollment earlier than i anticipated for lace, wig, university and i'm so incredibly excited. But today we're not talking about my birthday. I'M kidding i'm always going to talk about my birthday, okay, but no today, i want to talk about closures all right, so i'll be right back right after this is, we will show you how to get it up, get it up. Yeah. We just be making deposits to help you start making deposits. We building the thing for the winners from novice beginners. The motors were profits and mogus. I literally felt like my body, was failing me when i was in the hospital and the fact that i am still here and i am still breathing and i'm able to talk without oxygen, because some people don't have that luxury. They still have some serious long-term side effects from coving, and it is just such a blessing to be here right now. Oh, my gosh, i couldn't even breathe it in without coughing my lungs up and, yes, it has triggered all of this swelling through here. I'M sorry all right charge it to my head, not my heart, okay, so i won't be before you long today, um, but i just wanted to take a few minutes or some time to talk about lace closures. The reason why i wanted to do this is because i was in the beauty supply store the other day, and this poor lady was having the hardest time trying to uh trying to find a lace closure. She was looking for one that you get from the manufacturers or the ones that we all make, but she wasn't able to find one because she was in the beauty, supply store and what she did find was a hot mess. So i wanted to do this video. This morning, to encourage you all, especially those who have graduated from one of my programs, but to encourage you all uh to start making these closure pieces for people you don't have to make um full lace, wigs from scratch. I think all of you kind of know that by now, but i want to just drill that in even more like you, don't that's not all that you can do with this skill and there is a market there's a huge market. I'M going to tell you in the last probably two weeks: i've had so many people dm'ing me asking me for closures and toppers, because there's a shortage all right. So i wanted to take some time to do to record this video um, to encourage you and to show you what a hot mess closure looks like and to show you how to fix it. So much okay, so here is look at this y'all. Do you see this so this right here? Oh that's, a good angle. This right here is a closure piece that i purchased from the beauty supply store. How on earth is somebody going to be able to wear this and conceal those wefts? I mean it's so see-through. They cheated look at this, though you see how close the wefts are sewn together and the wefts are already thin as it is. This right here is not a way that you want to make your closure pieces. However, i'm going to tell you how i would fix this so part of the point of this video is also to show you how you can go into the beauty supply store. This is how you can save money for yourself and save money for your clients that are wanting these wigs from you. So if i were - and i am going to create a series um, i think i'm going to start filming it today on how to take beauty, supply, store, hair and uh. This actually came in a pack, so it was one two, three three bundles and a closure that came in a pack. I already started filming the video. I just have to finish the video and i'm going to show you how to take something that looks like this. With that hair and make it look very expensive, so here's what i would do with this. First of all, this lace shouldn't even be classified as lace. It should just be material because it's not even close to being lace all right. It has the maybe the texture of lace, but it's still super thick and it is very hard and one of the things that they did on this closure. Is they doubled back, so they took the edge that we normally leave out. I have an ezra hd closure here with true hd lace: okay hold on all right. So, oh no! No! No! No! No! I can't cough, please! No okay! So this edge. You can't even see this edge. Look at this. You can't even see the edge or the lace now, there's no hairline on this. Yet we finish the hairlines here, but there's no hairline on this yet, but you see all of this excess lace right here all of this excess lace, what they have done, you can. It'S so difficult to see this, but what they have done is they have taken this lace and they folded it under on the edge and that's the part that gets stitched down jesus. This is this is um so bad. This is the part that gets stitched down here. Now. Imagine putting this up against trying to put this up against your skin to get that melt. First of all, you see that straight line right there. You probably can't see this as good as i can, but this straight line. It looks like a manufactured straight line that somebody drew and you don't want, that. The whole idea for making these things is making them look and appear like they're growing out of the scalp. So here's what i would do, there's multiple ways you can fix this. The first thing you can do if you're in a time crunch, is just remove the hair from the center right here. Where is it at remove the hair from this center right here and just ventilate? It probably take you maybe hour and a half two hours. Another thing that you could do is you could go in between the wefts and ventilate as well. Okay, you could do that. So that's two things, but what i would do i think what i'm going to do is cut the center out and re sew lace onto that area and then extend it forward so that i could create a hairline. But i would use not hd lace. I would use a coated film lace, okay, a coated film lace and then what i probably would do for the first row. Look how thin. That is what i would probably do for that first row is ventilate all the way around. Just like this. Okay, now, the other thing i want to mention is that you can even make this something like this. You can make a better version of this on your own. All right, you don't have to you don't have like. I want people to start thinking outside of the box like you, do not have to follow any particular template or anything like that when it comes to making these wigs, you don't have to follow a template when it comes to closures or uh your crown worlds. There is no template, you make the template, you do what you want. So i was talking to a fellow wig maker a couple of years ago. Here is another tip for wigs. Okay. I was talking to a fellow wig maker a couple years ago. He actually came over to my house and we did an interview, and while we were doing this interview, we were talking about the different shortcuts that we both do for wig making. So let's say you have a client that always wears their hair. The same way like me, i always have a part in the middle, i'm not going to move my part, i'm not a side, part kind of person. I just don't think it looks right on me. My parts will always be down the center and i'm not going to do anything different with the hair right. If you have that type of client and you're making, let's say a hybrid wig where you're making the cap you're sewing the wefts onto the cap and then you're ventilating in certain areas, why would you waste your time ventilating a uh? Let'S say even if you did uh two inches across four inches back, so even if you did a two by four closure piece, why would you waste your time doing that when you could just do a half an inch strip as long as it covers the wefts And you have a little bit of a hairline to cover those wefts, there's no point in making a wide closure like this. Does that make sense, somebody let me know over in the chat if that is making sense, because the the last thing that i want you to think is that you have to spend all of your time doing something like this. No, that is why it is important for you to have thorough consultations with your clients so that you can understand what they want, so that when you start to build this thing, when you start to build it out, it goes quickly. You can give them exactly what they want: good, good, good, good, good, all right. So the other thing that i want to mention, if okay good good good, if you wanted to keep this lace, for whatever reason i don't know, maybe you're in a time crunch or you don't have any lace at all. You can just narrow this section right here out and re-ventilate this section with the hair. Now it said that this was good, hair or 52a hair. You know how they put those letters and numbers for the quality of hair or lack thereof um, but that is not. I don't know, i can't say that's not what this is, but it certainly doesn't feel like it feels synthetic to me. Okay, so another thing man i have so much. First, let me answer these couple questions that i have because um i want to talk about the type of knots that they're using. But first let me do this uh where's. That d says: does the wig lace kit include? Is it included? Basically is the toolkit included in the enrollment for new enrollees. It is not included. However, there is an option to purchase at a discounted rate, so um, when once you make your purchase, you'll go through a series of um different things that you can add to your enrollment all right and we go live literally in 20. Well, no not 23 minutes, but at 10 o'clock it goes live all right. So um it is not included, but you do have the option to purchase. It makes sense. Here'S another thing so a couple days ago and in fact let me i think, i'm going to share this video with you. So give me a moment. So, a couple days ago, i ran across this um video on tick tock, coincidentally, that oh where's, the full video at okay i'll just use this one. It'S two videos i want to share with you, so let me just airdrop them i'll. Do it this way? Okay, so you have oh, i know i just went through a whole thing. It'S it's actually not makeup is the opposite. My eye is running water on this side from and it's seasonal, it's from allergies - and my makeup is gone from right here, so i don't have any makeup right there at all. That'S why it looks dark like that i'll have to get nia to fix it. After this is all done, um, do you mean when you come to the live event? I think you mean when you come to the live event, and if that's what you mean, then of course i'm a hugger. I like to hug i like to hug no right now. I don't have silk top lace techniques inside lace, wig university, but it doesn't mean it won't, be added in the future. Ah, okay, okay, you're, a local um. I don't know you can reach out. So let me pull these videos real, quick, because i want to share them. I want to share them with you um. I posted these videos to my instagram and my tick tock. Oh, oh you trifling! It didn't even send the videos - oh yes, it did. Okay, so i pulled i posted one of these videos. I don't think i posted the other one, but one of these videos to uh my instagram a couple of days ago and one of them. Oh, i can share the video file right here, all right, so here's the first one i'm just gon na - let it play it may or may not have audio. Oh okay, just kidding hold on hold on. Oh, you got ta love technology. You got ta love technology. Oh, it's not gon na. Let me do it. You know what that's all right. Let'S watch this i'm gon na. Do it this way, um? Where is it right here? Okay? So, if you don't want to do it that way, i can do it this way. Boom. Okay, so you see in this video it's going to replay in just a second in this video once it starts all over, you can see them nodding wigs over at a factory in china. Now. The reason why i posted this video is because almost every class, or at some point at least a couple times a week, i get the question. What kind of knots are these, because it's very difficult for me to remove them, meaning the manufactured knot. So what type of knots are they using when this video replace you can see them doing? What is technically a double split knot, but they're not doubling the knot with the same strand of hair they're using there. It is two different strands, so they're, not one strand and then the other strand, and then the full hair is knotted. So that's why sometimes it is so difficult. That'S why sometimes it's so difficult when you're, using narrower to remove hair from these manufacturer pieces is because of the way they make the knot and the hair is literally entangled in there together, and so it makes for this huge knot. That does not look flattering. That'S. Why people got ta bleach knots because the knots look so large, they look like little balls and so in order to prevent that. Well, it's not even about preventing it. I don't use that type of knot at all, because you've seen the end result. It doesn't look natural and that's what gets plucked, so you want to be very mindful and knowledgeable about the type of knots and finally, we got a visual about the type of knots that are used for some of these wigs all right uh. There was one other thing: oh, how synthetic hair is made now this video, i don't think this video is actually going to play, so i don't know how i'm going to do this, because this video is actually um. You know what i do know how this video is going to play so in this next video is going to show you how synthetic hair is made. It is a very fascinating process that um i had never seen done before. Um, not even well. I just had never seen it done before, and i thought it was one of the coolest things. I hope this doesn't look stretched and it does okay. Give me a moment. I'M gon na try to get this video right for you guys. Um. Let'S see, it is one of those things that you're like oh my gosh. I can't believe i put that in my head. You just would never think that that would be something uh that we would wear it's it's fascinating. It really is uh and it's super cool. It goes faster and then the next thing you know boom synthetic hair, crazy. That is insane to me and no wonder you can't use uh heat on it because it looks like it would melt. So i thought that was the coolest thing ever it was a cool video right wow. I cannot believe how do i get this? Okay, that's not working no um! There we go. It is kind of disgusting. Isn'T it it is kind of disgusting. I'M not gon na lie. I'M not gon na lie, so i just wanted to share those two things with you guys and talk about closures. For a little bit, um yeah, i don't want to make any promises as to to what i'm doing next, i'm just going to schedule it and do it because we all know life happens. So before i go yes, i know right. I was completely completely blown away. That was crazy, but it was pretty awesome. So listen! Alright! Let me talk about this live event. Yes, so the live at the live event, you will be able ezra. I am 98 sure that ezra will be available all right and the cradles, but i'm gon na tell you about these cradles um, the ones that we will have uh that will be available um. So this time we're going to be talking about business sales and marketing, we're going to talk about advertising on the different social media platforms, uh we're also, i'm also going to have an entire section dedicated to so these are the ponytails. These i'm having an entire section dedicated to my time in india and talking about the different types of hair color that you can get from some of these manufacturers before they cut it. They would have already dyed it yeah. So this goes predominantly to africa: yeah, angola, mozambique, okay; they buy this in a large quantity. Okay! Oh my gosh! Look at those things! Oh my goodness! Oh this feels look at this. It'S so soft. These are ready. No, these are. These are bulkier metal. This is if most people buy it like this yeah, that's that is in africa, wig makers, that's what i did and all they buy it like this and then they and then use it from there. Oh wow! Look how short these! Are that girl? Oh yes, do you do it? It'S the little things y'all. I get excited over any little thing here. We mainly produce from the textures to everything. Everything is raw and you can wash it how many times you want. Nothing is gon na happen before shipping out is just washed conditioned and shipped some clients. They don't want to wash they wash it themselves, but most clients prefer it like. This. Yes, prefer to be washed, because some people assume see once this texture comes nah. They assume it's not raw anymore. We just tell them. No, we just wash it they'll, see that they'll be like. Why isn't it like that? You wash it crunch it and then it's hanged. So that's why this pattern comes. However, it dries. These are grey. Curly closures. Do you make those here too yeah? It'S our people who make the closures they aren't here, because there are a lot of uh for frontal enclosures alone. There'S a lot of poaching matter. Oh yeah, we've set this up really far far away. Oh, you have straight too yeah yeah we have a sticker. Now. How do you get this straight? Is this i'll show you the wefted bundles down? Straighta is from women who have straight hair, okay, meaning only about 10 to 15 percent. Max women have straight hair in india um. Oh my gosh that curl pattern. This is like really that you say rarely yeah rare, because so beautiful most indian women do not have an afro curly like texture right. So listen, absolutely amazing. So i visited several factories. While i was in india and i'm still in contact with all of them and some new ones so i'll be talking about working with vendors as well and as soon as everything calms down prayerfully i'll be headed to china. So i can have even more uh information, but let me answer a couple questions before i go. Um shakira says awesome my favorite subject's god, yes, health and wealth, and last but not least, beauty there you go. So lace, wig university is an online program and the program starts so everybody here's how i'm gon na break it down when you enroll today everybody gets access to phase one, which is the lace wig training system, where you're gon na go through um. Every single detail, video on how to make a lace wig from scratch. That is the beginning, all right then, after the official start date is may 1st, and so you'll have 30 days to go through that and then, after that, your phase two will unlock, which is the mentorship program. But it's month, one of the mentorship program in that first month. I walk you through making your first project, which is, coincidentally, what we're talking about today. It'S a closure all right at the end of month, one you should be done with that project and then you move on to the next month in the mentorship program, which is all about marketing. You don't just get a skill here. You also learn how to market that skill so that you can actually turn a profit with what you learn all right and then in the third month in the mentorship program. It'S all about mindset, it's one of the most powerful things that people negate when it comes to building a business or even in your personal life, okay and then, after that, all of your bonuses will unlock, which is uh. The sewing machine. Wigs made easy um. I brought in other instructors from literally all over the world two instructors from the uk uh daniel court from new york to mika gibson, the hair diagram uh. Two of my students came back to instruct and it's just an all-encompassing program. At the end of all of that, uh you get to print off, you take a test and you print off your certification, pr off your certificate and in the middle of all that in your first 40, after your 45 days of being in the mentorship program, we Have a live mentorship meeting where uh we get on a private live where i answer all of your questions and all that stuff and then at the very end we have a graduation party. That'S going to be awesome. The last one we just had was we had so much fun. It was awesome um. So that's what it encompasses in terms of the live event that is optional, it is not required. It is just something that i like to do. Uh for my students all right. It'S something that i didn't get to do before the pandemic, that i'm so excited to be able to do now. All right vegas is wide open um. So we can have live events again and that's why i'm ready i'm i'm so excited to do that. Pricing for the live event is only 49 for general admission and you get one full day of hands-on ventilating all right. It'S a combination of look and learn and hands-on, so you'll be looking and watching me in the look and learn, but you'll also be physically doing. All right - and i have tons of volunteers that'll be in there and i will be in there walking around as well. I love people, i love to love on people and i'm a very personable person, so i like to walk around and get in the mix. All right and then you'll have two days of business, marketing and sales at that live event as well. Like i said, i have some guest speakers that i'm bringing in to talk about different things, but most of the event, 95 of the event is all me all right, and one thing that i always do at these events is: i have um prayer at the end Of the events and anybody could come up for prayer the last time we did this. I think we were in the prayer line until almost one o'clock. In the morning, people from the casinos were getting in the prayer line to receive prayer all right. So that's just how i roll so. Yes, you get both. You can have your online access and listen. You get lifetime access, i've, seen people limit access and take away access after a few months. I don't believe in doing that life happens and i know life happens, and so you have lifetime access into the program i like for everybody to do it to to go through it together.
