You Can Make Your Own Headband Wig Out Of An Old Synthetic Wig!

I made my own headband wig from a Jon Renau January that had seen better days. This video doesn't exactly show you how to do it step by step, but I do tell you how I did it to try to give you a few ideas of your own. If I ever make another one I will definitely film it.

Hey friends, all right, so I got myself a tripod for my phone so that I can do these videos a little bit easier. But I wanted to come to you tonight with a project that I just completed and it is a I'm feeling a little tall here. It'S a headband wig that I made myself from an old wig, so I didn't have an old way because I have not been wearing wigs long enough, but I did have what I consider to be an unfortunate purchase of a used wig. That was in pretty poor condition and not wearable. In my opinion, out in public I've tried a couple of things to salvage it and I just couldn't it was very dry, very dull. Looking it's a John Renault lace front. I can't remember what it's called, but it's definitely something's up with it. So, instead of giving up on it, I decided to make a headband wig out of it. I have been looking at headband wigs for my trip to Florida. In January with the family, I wanted something - maybe that could just wear out to the beach or to the pool, and I found some on Etsy that looked very similar to this almost uh, just like this for about $ 70 plus shipping, and they didn't have my Color they were all really light, and so tonight I was just thinking what, if I made my own headband wig out of this wig, that I can't wear anyway. So my daughter and I spent about an hour and a half modifying this wig and supergluing it headband on to it. You can kind of see where the super glue bled through a little bit. I don't know if that'll eventually wear off it's kind of hard. You know maybe there's a better way to have done this, but in my opinion this was awesome. So this is just a wig and I can't tell if I'm showing you the back, it's really kind of messy. I can so pull it back into a ponytail. I did do that before I put it put the cap on, or them blew the headband on to it and pull some hair forward, but let me show you to the best of my ability, so this is basically the wig. As you can see. This is on here pretty good. So what I did? Here'S the it's, a full mono top lace front wig, I cut the lace front. So right here is where the lace was and that's where, if you have a lace front wig, you know what I'm talking about that little dividing line, the mono top. I cut the lace all the way up and then about. I don't know half an inch to 3/4 of an inch here. I cut the hair extremely extremely short, so that I could actually super glue on to that with no hair, and I did that on the ear tabs, I cut all the hair off the ear tabs and glued it on there, and then I cut the hair off The nape and super glued it there, and this is the result - and I am - I could not be more pleased with how this turned out - I'm not sure how it'll last we were debating tonight, whether I should use hot glue or super glue. My husband seems to think and my daughter that the hot glue would come off, especially if I got it wet so we went with this super glue and I do have super glue on my fingernails and my fingers. This was, you know, a project, but I think I can only get better at it so anyway, I'm gon na wrap this up sort of over at 4 minutes. Now it's a long video, but this is something anybody can do. I am absolutely not crafty, zero, craftiness and me, and if I could do this, you can totally do it and I couldn't find any videos on this, so I just had to figure it out. So if you have an old wig at home, you don't know what to do with it. Consider a headband wig, I think it'll be awesome, but I'll. Let you know how how it actually wears when I wear it in January, and I actually this I'll wear this around the house now just do housecleaning so awesome anyway, have a great night talk to you guys later bye,

Kimberley Reef: I've been repairing my wigs forever.....I've been a wig wearer for over 20 years.....and had not thought to do this with a headband! You're brilliant my dear! Glad to have found your video!

Barb K: Great idea Denise, thanks for sharing! If you decide to make another headband wig, maybe you could make a video while you’re making it. Your reviews are so helpful.

Sonia J: This is genius!! I'm going to try and make one too! Thank you!!

Lindy Wheeler: If you only knew this was a great idea you an your daughter came up with to do a video on this. This is so popular right now. I was searching for a video on how to make this and yours came up. Glad you made it. It gave me some wonderful ideas. Thanks for sharing!

ShoryoTombo: absolutely brilliant! I'm really loving your channel!!!

Kathleen Beauchemin: Omg...great idea! I'm definitely going to try this!!!!

renee morgan: This is great! I've purchased half wigs and sewed headbands on with weave thread/needle. Looks great

Kofobabe Adebanjo: Thanks for sharing. I have alopecia so I wear braided wigs and other wigs  and I play around with them to give me  different looks. I would actually use  needle and thread to tack down the headband instead of the supper glue. I use foldable headband to give it sassy looks or what do you think? I like that you posted  this ,I don't see any similar videos.

The Magic of Wigs: What about flexible, washable fabic glue? Great idea! Super video! Hugs from Hannonville!

Mona Attianese: You are a girl " after my own heart " ... so glad you were able to use this wig... ❤️✝️

blondee0784: So its been a few months, how has it held up? Can you exercise in without it falling off?

Coast Daze: I love it! I already have a wig that will probably end up like this. Great idea for the beach.

Brenda Alaniz: So Funny I just today on another one of your videos asked how JR January compares to Editors pick, I guess I know now, lol. I have a Estetica Wren that was fixing to be trashed and I think I will try this for her..Thanks for your videos

Patti Mitchell: I love it! Like you say no info on how to make these. You have beautiful skin, btw.

bjerles: Great idea! You could use E 6000 as well but it would take just a few minutes longer to dry enough to let go of it. Or you could use clothes pins to hold it on place until it dries completely.

ohstar: Thank you; that is all I was looking for.

Honey Jones: boil the synthetic wigs for 5 mins. Hang dry in your shower. Next day spray with d-tangler. It will go back to the original style.

Karen Hull: I have a few wigs ... Thank you for sharing

Nicky Connolly: Aaww you are so lovely. Hugs from the uk

Kristine Noffsinger: Great idea!! Thank you!!!!!

Debbie Smith: Grest job! I have 2 that I will be modifying

Esther King: Thank you for your video!

Privacy Matters: How has it held up?

Viviane B: Please show us the steps on how to turn a regular wig into a headband wig. I bought this human hair wig that looks hideous on me but I think I can make it work if I can transform it into a headband wig.

Vanessa Thompson: Sew a white elastic band to the wig about 6 inches less your circumference and then where different color headbands on top! A new spin on half wigs with head bands!

Alice S: Oh my gosh!! Love it

Shon young: Thanks for this video

Patrease Ashley: It looks so natural

Sandra Howington: Use a fabric glue like Aleene’s Ultimate

Tami Burge: I would sew the headband on instead of the glue... sooner or later it will come undone,,, sewing will last longer...

Karenamelia Payne: Im confused. Cant you just put a wig on then put a hairband on top of the wig?

Jazmine Arceneaux: You should have sowed the band on it.
