How To: Apply & Style Lace Front Wigs Ft. Addwigs

I'Ve had people asking me about this. Ever since I put up my first wig review, video, I'm gon na show you guys how to take your wig from the box and end up with it on your head. So there's a little bit involved, especially with lace, front or full lace, wigs, but I will hopefully be able to give you some answers. I am by no means an expert in this. I'M still learning and still getting better at doing it. So if there are any wig experts out there that are watching this, please feel free to leave your ideas and your tips and tricks down below. But I thought that I would just show you guys what I've been doing so far, so I'm gon na do a little unboxing first, just to show you how your wig might come. This wig is from a company called Addwigs. It came this color, which is amazing. It'S like an emerald green color, and I am obsessed the really good thing about these wigs are that they come already colored, so I think they have something like 20 or so different colors. Some of them are brighter and more crazy, like the green, and some of them are slightly more muted. They have some nice like oranges and blondes and grays and all kinds of stuff. I will link everything down below, so you guys can go check it out, but every other wig that I've had I've had to dye myself. So this is really nice. I probably will end up putting a slightly darker root in this wig, just because I like having a darker root on my hair, just in general, with my complexion and my face and my eyebrows and everything I think it looks better on me, but other than that. These wigs are completely good to go like I can just put it on boom done, don't have to worry about spending two days doing the coloring, so it is super ideal. I hope you guys enjoy this and I hope you get something out of it and yeah. Let'S get to the unboxing when the wig comes to you: it'll come in a little post bag. Obviously I've taken that off and then you're left with this box. It has some info on the back and then the name on the front, and it comes with your wig some clips, some elastic two wig caps, some eyelashes and some bobby pins for securing your wig. So your wig comes in a ziploc bag and then will be wrapped up with a little net. And then here you have all the info on your wig and then there'll be some wrapping inside the wig just to keep its shape and, as you can see, this is a lace front wig. So this company has about six inches of lace on the front and then the back is all tracks. The lace goes all around to the side of your head, and you also have these little adjustment straps to tighten or loosen in the wig. The hair feels really really nice and soft and here's a close-up view of the top of the hand-tied part. So when you get your wig you're going to have some excess lace on the front and you need to cut that off, so the best advice I can give is just cut a little at a time. I would always aim to cut just before any of the hair starts, and then, if you find that it comes too far down, you can always edit it, but just try not to cut off too much of the start for styling purposes. I wanted to have a side part, and this comes with a middle part, so I just decided to spray the top and change the part, so I just sprayed it with some water and then combed it over and then I blow dried it. But I didn't film that part, but here it is blow-dried and brushed this next part of the tutorial is completely optional. I just thought I'd show you guys what I did to style it. I wanted to go for some kind of messy beachy waves. So what I did is I section the hair and make sure if you're ever using any heat products on your wig, you are using a heat, protectant spray, because you don't want your wig to die. So I just grab my straightener and I just curl it one way and then the other way so that it kinks and you'll see what I mean once this goes through.. You want to make sure that you keep moving the straightener down so that it doesn't stay in one spot for too long and burn the hair. And you don't have to make it perfect because it will all kind of look really nice. If it's a little bit more messy, let's just fast forward this and get through the hair, so that is all of the hair done and ready to be put on and Shady is just living. His best life look at him go.Okay. So here I have my natural hair, I'm going to cover that up with a wig cap. Generally, it's a good idea to go with a wig cap that is the same color or close to your skin color, because then it will look more natural ...! Oh, my god, I look so attractive, yaas girl, ..., but if you don't have one that matches like the front of this is much lighter than my skin, then just grab some foundation and pop it on the front. So it blends in a little bit better and then you're gon na take your wig and pop it on just make sure there's no hair stuck underneath it and with these waves I just thought I'd run my fingers through them just to make them look a little Bit more messy, if you have a side part on your wig, it's actually a good idea to do a little bit of a diagonal part at the front. Just so, you can have a bit of hair coming over and covering the front of the lace and you can leave it like that or you can glue the wig down. So I use got2b glued .... Oh my God, I have like a 5 head. That'S amazing! ... so, like I said, I'm using that got2b glued, which is basically just a super intense hair gel. So many people use this. You basically want to apply this around your hairline, where your wig will sit, and you need to wait until it's tacky before you actually apply the wig.. So you can do multiple layers of glue depending on how much you want it to stick, but yeah definitely have to wait until it's tacky, just like with eyelashes, then I take a little rat tail comb and just push down the edges and, as you can see, I'M kind of pushing the hair forward so that it sticks a little bit before the lace, and that is what makes it look a little bit more natural and like it's coming out of your head as opposed to just the lace. Stopping so I go all around the edges and just make sure that that hair is nicely stuck down and it's not going to move then once it's dry, you can style it as you, like. I'M just doing a little Dutch braid on the side and I'm going to pin it and you can see what that will look like, and then I thought since so many people always comment on it. I would show you how I do my little buns that I wear in my video, so this will look a bit funny because I've obviously styled it to the side and now I'm doing a middle part. But you get the idea, so you're gon na put your hair into two little pigtails and I like to leave out some little fringy kind of things to make it look a little bit more messy, and then you get a teasing comb and just lightly backcomb. The hair, so it's a nice big, tease and then just twirl it around and pin it into a nice big bun, make sure it's nice and secure with some bobby pins. And then you can move on to the other side, but be very careful when you're pinning it that you don't actually pin through the lace in your wig, because otherwise that will create a hole, and that is no good and boom there we go.
