I purchased these 'lace front' wigs during a moment of intense sadness after my HAIRCUT FROM HELL a few months back and I never really gave them a chance! So I finally tried them properly with my friend Pia Muehlenbeck, and as you'll see, we didn't have the easiest time!
I bought them from freedom couture. Can anyone tell me what we did wrong? Or are you meant to be able to see the lace like that!? We were so confused!

Hi guys welcome back and with a Very Special guest. This is Pia Muhlenbeck hi. I'M really Excited I'm a Huge Fan of Pia's and we met Like last Week. Yeah, you know what we've met a Few Times at events. We'Ve never had like a Full Hang out catch up Session until last week and we Have the best ever. It was Really fun and We somehow got to talking about Haircuts - and i mentioned that i bought These Wigs and we've both never tried a Wig on. But i have like Two Weeks so it's Kind of perfect. Then we test them together On camera, because i mean personally, i didn't Know That Wigs were so serious. Well, this Is a Serious Wig. This Thing Was Really Expensive. It Was Like $ 1500 or more Hmm. One of them i got two of them and you would think that you can Just Kind of Throw It on in your hair done. That'S What i thought. We Just Got a Chuckle, we Gon' on the Days. You can't be bold About It here, so the Wiggly gray, no A lot more serious Than that. We have two weeks. I'Ve Got them from Freedom, couture They've never Been Worn, So the lacy Part is still like Roll. I guess You'd Call It yeah right. So there's lace and then The Little Pieces of Hair like Stitched into the stuff. It looks so Intricate like. Let me Get one close. Can You see that, like It, has the full hairline and everything it's Skin color? So When we Put It on, hopefully It Just Looks legit and real Yeah. You have a small Dark one Yeah. I have a long Dark One nice. So, basically, I'm going from this hair to Dark Exactly Yes, i didn't want to try That One on, because i already literally so - we've got a tutorial Here by Melissa, Telling Us how to do this, Because we Have no idea. So we have to watch the tutorial and then Try It and you Guys can Watch us fail. Yes, Like Wig Fail Easy. Is it to apply One the first time you ever tried them. You know. So when i ordered this, i got these Little Things Which i think you proved me: okay, No, oh, my god, and then i got this Double-sided tape Which we have to stick to our Foreheads. Oh fabulous, all right! Let'S see what she tells us to do yeah, so this Girl's done a Review Okay. So the first step is to put your cap on this came with my Wig okay, but it's Just like a Stocking. Where are you putting all youR Head? Is in the back of It yeah, i don't think Anyone Will see That I'm really Conscious about my Ears Right Now. I don't know i talked to my name - is like your leg: Oh no, don't tuck It in. I think i Read once don't talk about it. Okay, what elastic band i was like a bra, strap, Yeah, okay, great! So, okay link, oh wow! Oh it's! It can be quite tight. Is it wait? I Love The idea That you can change Hair Colors on a Saturday Basis. Wait I'm going on by there Pull It. I can't see this. You literally Clip first Yeah, you don't put it on your head fuck! Oh my god. It looks so good. All Right, Wow Man. I Feel like my hair companies to go back a Little Yeah. My form in my forehead is so big, so i don't Mind how Forward My I'm like enjoying This Show a Full head, so i'm doing at My little bra strap I'm Naturally Brown Mr. Yeah, oh, No, no Mister, Not This don't. Look.! So good! I don't Certainly looks so funny. I can see the cat thorough, See, yeah, That's what i mean. I can see mine. Oh No, you put Makeup on there. I'Ve seen one on here. They Put Makeup in here like eyeshadow. Do you know what i bought? I bought that like Root Spray Stuff i Should Have Brought It with me - would have Been so good, alright, What my insides? Yes, i'm not Kind of odd. It went like that in the picture. Let me show You the picture. Oh yes, i thought it's. The met. Gala Week with a met, gala Wig awaits you all Here, That's it oh Yeah, yeah yeah, so that pace is meant to like Open Over there We Go See over. This pace Wants to go the other way. That is the wig that pia is Wearing Deceased. We Have to like cut this now. So, let's see we Know The Place. Oh we're gon na draw right. You go white lace., Oh Yeah. You'Ve Got mr. Role full of Water. Okay, so melissa has Says that we have to Draw on where we're gon na cut the Wig, so we're Just using a White Eyeliner, So we're making sure that Our little Baby Hairs are still gon na be Visible Right Yeah. I guess i don't think i'm doing It right Already. Is your hair meant to comes through? I think It Is I've Drawn My Voice, oh you're, drawing for it i'm taking This, I'm taking it off Bye all right. I'M gon na remove the capture, because this to me looks like a Massive, bold spot yeah. So i'm Just gon na put in a bun. I'M i'm gon na. Do it like a Swimming Cap Like okay, okay, wait. I think, like This. I'M Just Doing really Help You is that right, yeah yeah! Oh, it is Just like putting a Brow Rod And then You adjust okay. Now i have to figure this Out. Are you okay? Oh Yeah, Where's, My little bra, strappy Bits! This Is a Hectic yep, then i'll be Ready in two Minutes. Oh Right, Weird, oh Boy, It feels Better Without The cap It definitely Does Feel more comfortable. There'S more Clips yeah. I think i know this one has four. What is that? Oh, That'S! The strap! Okay! Oh My Bumps, Should We Get The back Yeah Mine's Kind of There, But Just Philip is making volume Mark. Does mine? Look like it's maybe well, you're! More is it less So i drew on that White line before oh My and That's where i'm gon na trim It and pull my real Hair through okay. Can You check that i've Drawn this in the right Spot? Do you think, or do you think there needs to be more mesh? No, you can't Have more Mesh Snacks, It Will see, yeah see it right yeah. I thought you do with the mesh after. Like do you put Makeup Over at All, i think so. It'S the girl, i think so, i'm Just gon na cut It. Okay, okay, cutting Make sure that i don't Get any of these little Perfectly Placed Sort of Baby Hairs. I'M cutting my own Hair there I mean this is not as easy as It Sickened. You do. What i don't know is: why is this bit Shit Like Hanging Loosely? Do i like glue to myself? I think you're meant to, but you can see it. I don't get it. He was looks Amazing, yeah. I love it Bombshell Yeah. He looks Good Too. We Just have to figure out Watch. Are you gon na pull youR real Hair through, but That's Hide Because Your Real Hair is Dark Makeup on it yeah It looks Amazing glue it down. How oh This is the Actual freedom i chose So she's taping it. I still don't Get how you disguise the mesh. Do i Just have to cut it? What Yeah so do You pull youR hair Through Somebody Tell Us how to disguise this mesh Cap. You can see it wait. Do i Just do It? Does It also cut It? Wait hide off, Maybe Cuz. What do i do with all this? Yes, you're gon na Mean Like Having everything. Okay, She did not do anything. Yeah Then cut It. They Really Need a proper tutorial People That Have no fucking idea. What They're Doing has She's, Literally Just stuck It on there. I Thought They Put Like Makeup on It and everything Yeah i've Seen them do it. We Should Just Put Makeup on it. How i apply My Lace front, Wigs, good, oh no! You Just Go, Get the fringe to cover it, but you're gon na have to Just cut It close and then do this. But look it's gon na Because People Put Wigs on they do their hair up. You know what i mean yeah, i feel like. I'M meant to be pulling My Hair Through This Joining me. Oh, i know i pull bits of Hair out Here, Like My own Hair cuz, it's Dark, oh Right, Yeah, but That might Be all cuz. Your hair is not Dark. For a Start. They Say You are here all week that week that, But That's my hair, So let me use this fully Rose short for Head Now. Oh yeah, look, i think i see people do this. Could i do The instructions are not Clear detailed Enough For me. I agree. Oh look, oh oh, That Is starting to look. Legit can Yeah yeah draw some concealer yeah Put some concealer on the way alumni i'll pull some hair furniture Yeah, but i Really like Tiny bits. Look at That look. What do i do about That? Yeah see? I don't Know Put some foundation on my forehead. That'S the next step. Nobody'S Told Us to do this, but we're Just gon na go for it Know. What i do want. To do is stall this.. Oh, i don't know if this is the right move, Hmmm. Well, the Colors not right for you yeah, it's like the opposite of contouring. I'Ve Gone Lighter, Okay, i'm putting someone true, but that Is so not Doing anything. It Doesn't do anything pierre! You can Still see it. You can See your skin is Kind of Flipped Up. Well, That's Why you gon na keep It down right! I'M gon na Try a Little Bit of Double-sided tight, Come on. It'S really Tough! Why isn't it it's Just too stiff? Oh, yes, yes, oh My god, okay, okay, i'm so Excited about this Down press! Oh, My Goodness, i press it Now. You got ta Blow Dry, It Again, okay and Keep pressing That Bit down Right. I'M gon na trim It. We Look Like Whips up, yes, yeah! Oh, i feel like i could Wear this Now. I Really don't Know how to deal with my center popping Yeah. Well, it's Supposed to be like super Flip That wall according to the picture any event. How do i Have to like Bring It Forward? Some of It has to be down yeah. You can really see it And Then All and That's what i'm gon na bring the real Hair through and then You like, like this - oh, Not not not you're fucked! This Is a Lot Harder Than i Expected. Yours Is Looking Good wait. Can You see mine, see mine, you can't really tell But Piers. Let me zoom in on you. They can't release It. You can't see on camera, You can't see these. No, Maybe That's Just It. Maybe Everybody Looks Like This. I Just Try to help People do It. Yours Eyes, It Looks Messy and There's so much. Ladies mmm Yeah There's so much light. Maybe more Hair needs to be Forward. You know what i mean yeah Here we Go: Hmm, oh Lloyd, Right! Oh yeah, okay, yeah, Okay, Good mine is too long to be bothered To do anything. Well, i mean That's a Start. Next time we can Actually Try Sylar Yeah. Actually That Looks Good. That Looks Good like That. Okay, let me Just take a Photo, so everyone can see how it actually Looks Close-Up Yeah cuz, i Feel like in the camera. They can't see the lazy bit yeah. Would You take a Photo of mine, Yeah come at the front and then a super closer? Yes, they can see. This is Really Tough Cuz, it's Heavy Yeah Yeah, I mean, oh, my god. My head looks Flaky Because of that White stuff. Do What i Mean I'm gon na have to try these a Bit more after. This is, like might Think, They're the solution. I thought They would be yeah. This is like, if you Got a Half a day spare to get ready for something and if no One's gon na Be actually getting close To you in person. Yes, Because that is obvious. Although I Feel Like, if you Lean All The Hair Forward, Like Yeah, you can Kind, but if a Bit of Wind comes or you want your hair up, i mean you're. Like Really Glad. I tried that Because i've Always Wanted to Meet Her, i've always wanted to cuz. I like one Now be like. Oh I'm gon na be a platinum blonde. Today and Now you know that you Just can't Wig Fail video Babes ever Attempt at Legit Wigs okay. So my hair is a Big alfalfa. Actually you soon at the week really well, i'm really disappointed Like. I really Thought It Would look so legit. You know a bit like iF i Go somewhere in My Extensions are Showing or something I'm Like Mortified Yeah, like i feel so conscious and Weird about it And How feel Walking Around oh, my wasn't so bad. Nobody else did no. You would have seen It in the pictures Right AnyWay, We tried Yeah, It was fun, maybe i'll Try It again. You know Two Adults Playing Dress-ups, It did. It Was fun, It did Only Take Like 30 Minutes Yeah and then We Gave Up because we Just didn't. Lauren: I wear a freedom couture wig every single day, and I have for about 6-8 months now. I have purchased a few of her units over that period and I certainly took awhile to figure out how to make a wig look 'natural' on a very pale caucasian woman! not easy to do.. but over time I've learnt that using g2b gel to glue the lace down really helps. bleaching the knots may help but in my experience as I'm so pale it makes the fake 'scalp' yellow and totally obvious. mamma couture has a few handy tutorials on her YouTube page, but honestly just trial and error is all it takes! (and a hella lot of patience)
My Mini's & Me: I specialize in making and showing how to lay wigs down to look natural. You shouldn’t have to pull any of your natural hair out while wearing Freedom wigs. And also make sure there is a elastic band sewn in so it for snug to the head. Lastly do two braids to the back of your head and pin them. And if you use stocking cap pull it back away from hairline so you don’t see it in the front. Hope this helps ladies. Also here is my video https://youtu.be/8BzfjSc1RNs

Melanie W: Hey love next time “bleach” the lace it makes the lace less visible. There’s tutorials on it. And those flappy parts on the side you can either tape or glue down or you can just cut them off but take your time so you don’t ruin an expensive wig ❤️❤️

Bella Rose: Cut the lace 1st BEFORE you put it on! Don’t use the stupid wig cap. Just use foundation or concealer in the part to conceal knots. You can use Got 2 b gel to stick down the edges. Tape is too annoying & may pull out your own hair.

Junk Mail: To get rid of the spotty look you have to put powder foundation under the lace to help cancel out the dark lace roots. Try it next time, that should help. Also, you can cut the part around your ear to contour to the natural curve of your head. So don't be afraid to cut some lace and hair around your ears.
Kennedy Ann: Chloe quick tip get some wig glue and glue the edges down, then you can use concealer (personal preference is face powder) along the part to hide the lace. Also you can trim them side bits to your liking ( be careful and take your time ) then glue them down

Next time try using spirit gum as it will not only glue the wig to you but if you put it on the lace, put tights on your finger and dab firmly onto the lace it will also diminish the appearance of lace and will blend into the skin! (Reason for the tights is that the glue wont stick to your finger and it doesn’t stick to tights very well) hope this helps!
verawhispers: Lmaoo you are meant to glue the wig down. I don't know if they have it in Australia but in America we have this really strong hold gel that a lot of girls who wear wigs use called got 2 be glued it works wonders. You might want to watch some black girls on YouTube do wig tutorials like peakmill or Tierra monet they go really in depth and break it down a lot better

Emily Dupriez: How you cut and apply a wig depends on what you’re wearing it for. For everyday kind of use, you just trim back the lace as close to the baby hairs as you can. You secure the wig down by having a wig cap on, and using bobby pins to secure it in place. Under the wig cap you can do multiple things. You can do a wrap, you can do pin curls, you can do anything that holds the hair flat and gives your natural hair some shape or texture for the pins you put through the wig to grip on to. For stage, you’d leave the lace long (with repeated use the lace gets shitty and you have to trim it back. Eventually you run out of lace and you have to get it replaced) and use adhesive to stick the lace down around the face. Never put adhesive in the hair because that just ruins it. Sometimes the wigs natural hairline doesn’t match your own so you just kind of have to fiddle with it and find a way to disguise any lace that stands out. You can use makeup to cover it too

M J: As a black woman who occasionally wears lace front wigs, I agree - when I watched tutorials as a beginner, I realized there are SO MANY STEPS MISSING!! And omg she really used double-sided tape lmbooo poor thing, I'm dying!! lol I recommend getting some "wig glue" or "toupee tape" instead of regular double-sided tape (which will shine through). Also, for people with fair skin the lace should be bleached, so it's "transparent". The lace on these wigs was like, light brown/tan lol tooo visible for their skin tone... hope it works out better next time :)
