How To Turn Frizzy High Porosity Hair Into Defined Curls L Watch Me Transform

Ashlea: I have been struggling with my daughters hair for the longest. She is biracial and I just found out about "hair porosity" she is 11! I read all about low, normal, and high and it definately seams like she has high after reading. I took a risk and did this on her hair as I'm not good with hair at all and it worked so well!! Next time I'm going to prob shampoo it out because I didn't like the film. But she actually had defined curls all day. That has NEVER happened. It's weird though that the clay looks white on your hair but brown in hers. I used a different aloe vera juice but I wouldn't think that matters. So how often should I do this to her hair? Any other tips?

Chanel Brittney: Also Red Moroccan Clay or Rhassoul Clay defines curls and it's more moisturizing then Bentonite Clay.

Marsheilah: I too love bentonite clay. I use it mixed with ACV and oils weekly. It is my primary cleanser. Making it yourself is the most economical way to go, but two good ones for those that don't want to mix it up are Terresentials and Wondercurl Detoxifying Clay Wash. Wondercurl is Kaolin clay. My hair likes rhassoul, but seems to respond best to bentonite and the kaolin clay in the Wondercurl mix. I have tried a lot of pre made clay washes over my 5 year natural hair journey and these two distinguish themselves. So, every once in a while I splurge and buy one of them. Thanks for reminding us of the Magic these clays provide. It is also a great mask for my face. I use bentonite, ACV, and honey for my face mask.

I been using bentonite Clay for a while as a shampoo and I love the definition it gives my curls! I also did the maximum hydration method. I have great curl definition on the ends of my hair but about 1 to 2 inches of my hair from the roots there's no definition. No matter how much product I put on my roots it stay puffy. What can I do to help my roots get more definition.

SimplyNatural: You know what I've come to realize?… My hair prefers aloe vera juice over apple cider vinegar. A couple months ago I ran into a video about which ingredient closes the hair cuticles the best… apple cider vinegar(ACV) or aloe vera juice(AVJ). Apparently AVJ closes the cuticles better. And I actually believe it, because I use to spray my hair with an AVJ with purified water mixture almost everyday, and once I ran out of my AVJ and hadn't repurchased it, I started to notice my hair frizzing up and it losing it's moisture retention. No matter even if I sprayed my hair with water everyday and sealed it with oil or cream, no matter if I tried it with a ACV mixture. My hair continued to dry out. I use the Andalou Naturals leave in conditioner (which you've previously mentioned in another video) and the Eden Bodyworks natural curl defining cream. They both work on my hair since they contain AVJ

Zechariah 4:6: I just found this video - 3 years late but I am so impressed with the curl definition I thought I was low porosity because I saw and red on videos that if you put water on your hair and it rolls off your body your hair is not absorbing it however you are describing my hair almost to the tee. My hair will not hold a curl - I am a 4C lady. My Wash & gos are disastrous and I have tried gels leaving curl definers Etc. When I do a flat twist and then a twist out I do have the definition for maybe two days and then I can see my hair starting to frizz on day 3 and 4 so if my hair frizzes that quickly or that easily does that mean I'm high porosity? Hopefully you will see this I'm be able to respond even though it's 3 years late. Thanks so much

I recently watched a video by Natural Nadine she states that most African American hair is high porosity by nature, when a lot of us are thinking our hair is low porosity (if it hasn't been relaxed or color treated). She references crime scene investigations where police can determine the race of a suspect based on their hair noting that most African American hair has raised cuticles ( high porsity). I tried it for the first time and my curls were popping it looked like a i did a wash n go right out the shower (usually my hair looks like an afro with barely any definition ). I didn't really detangle my hair before applying it but after it was a breeze to detangle (took me 1hr usually takes me 5hrs since i only finger detangle). Made my scalp really clean (took like 15mins to completely rinse though).Also i usually have to pre-poo because shampoo dry and tangle my hair but this time i didn't . I'm going try few more times to see if its something i can switch to for my hair regime. Have you tried rhassoul clay? Its not on my list. I have fine fragile hair like yours, any tips to combat breakage. I don't experience alot but my hair breaks i dont use tools in my hair.
