I got my hair done for a wedding in New Orleans back in early March before the lockdown. Here's a play-by-play of my natural curly bob look (without having to cut my hair)!

I'M gon na do a 30 inch straight wig, though one day. How do you feel about that camaro um? You know we're gon na make it kinky straight. Yes, i'm into that. So this weekend, i'm going to a very exciting wedding in new orleans, one of my favorite cities possible, and it is black tie. So i have to serve, looks and i have a really beautiful emerald gown that i'm really excited to wear. It'S going to be a bunch of college friends, because there are two people from my college that are getting married, so it's gon na basically be like a college reunion, i'm so excited to see everyone and catch up and party and celebrate our loved ones, who are Getting married and i have to figure out what to do with my hair berta right. This is what my hair is up to right now. I really wear my hair anymore. I'Ve been really into weaves and wigs and other protective styles like braids lately, just like the last two years or so i've just gotten. You know just so lazy about that, but i'm gon na get back to it once this wedding is over. I won't have any other formal events that i'll know of so i'm gon na bring bring her back out from underneath the wig and let her breathe a little longer. It is so nice to touch my scalp, ah so good. Tomorrow, kamara is going to come over she's, going to install a wig that she's making. For me by hand, it's going to be a really cute bob curly, wig and she's going to install it. So tonight i have to wash and blow dry my hair so that it's ready to go. I was too tired last night to actually blow dry, my hair, so i shampooed it. I conditioned it. I detangled it and put it in these little braids and then went to bed so now, i'm taking them out gon na throw some heat protectant on it and go to town with this blow, dryer still a little damp. I'M using this by the way. Silk elements been using this since high school when i used to straighten my hair, but i don't straighten anymore. I just will blow it out from time to time, usually for these protective styles and then she will just do a braid down. It'S a! U part, wig! So some of my actual natural hair will be out in the front and that'll be my look for the wedding and for new orleans. So yeah i'm excited um, i'm about to go wash my hair right now and then kamara will be open in the morning to transform me hi. My name is kamar brown, i'm a textured hairstylist in los angeles and today we're gon na hook. Freddy up. So, let's talk about this wig that you made what texture hair is this okay, so this texture hair is a 100 percent brazilian curly and i constructed the unit on a sewing machine. So i'm going to show you the inside. I love it. So we have all the clips and combs so that it's secured it's a u-part wig. So i'm going to be cutting this section out and blending the hair on top. So it's going to look really cute, so my hair is gon na go through the middle. Yes, so i'm gon na cut the section right here and then i'm gon na leave about an inch and a half of your. You know, hair and then i'm gon na blend it on top. So it's gon na look very seamless cool, so i feel like people are gon na wonder like this hair looks very similar to like how my natural hair probably looks. What'S the purpose of a wig like already resembles my actual hair yeah, so what's great about a wig, is one the versatility to switch it up whenever you feel like it, so this is 14 inches. Freddy hair is longer than 14 inches. So it's going to be a cool way to get the look that she wants and a great thing about wigs, it's a protective style. So the hair is going to be braided down and you get to tuck your hair away and make sure you moisturize your scalp and oil it so that you can get the best care. You know out of wearing a wig and it's easy to take off. So that's why we have the clips in the comb. Mardi gras will just be winding down still going to kind of have that energy. So there's going to be a lot of partying a lot of stuff to do so. I just don't really want to have to worry about my hair or, like sticking my bun, or you know that kind of thing i just kind of want to get up and go so that's why i'm doing this? You part wig. I'Ve been wanting this particular wig for a while for a few months, because i saw an inspo for it on instagram and i was like wait. I want this like blunt, like a wavy, curly, wig kind of situation, all right should we get started yeah. Let'S get started so kamara, you mainly only work with like natural hairstyles, yeah, correct or like natural hair. Why is that? I feel it really started off with me. I think texture is the most authentic and i say that because it's it's easier to blend instead of using you know straight hair or a finer texture hair, especially with our hair, if we're moving around with wigs or any protective styles having textured is like the way To go yeah! That'S a good point because i feel, like you know, even me in particular like when i would have like straight weaves you're, just like constantly fighting with your hair, to make sure it blends, with like the straight hair with like humidity or with working out or with Anything it's just like you're. Just constantly, i don't know a little self-conscious or just making sure okay is it flat? Does it blend? Is anything showing and like when i have curlier textured hair like weaves or wigs? Is i'm not as stressed yeah, so i love working with texture, it's just something that i enjoy and you know the thing about me. It'S always been about representation and i feel like there's not that many hair stylists within the industry focusing on texture, hair and you know i really enjoy it. So that's why you know. I stick with your intention and this is why i've only been going to kamara for, like two years now and my hair's grown yes, your hair has grown so much so this is not my first wig kamara's actually made another wig of mine. That'S one of my favorites: it's a curly bang wig! That'S like really full and also kind of bob link. This wig is different just because it's gon na be a! U part so my hair will be out and there will be no bang, and so i'm really into like the middle part right now: hey justin, jesse's, learning stuff too. What did you learn so far that it's all about the shampoo to start? You could have dry oily hair, but you need like moisturizer. I heard that if your shampoo is trash, then it just doesn't mean anything. You know anymore hand, clap for justin, so the braid up is done. Kamara has sprayed it with oils. What'S the next step next step is to prep the wig, i'm going to cut this part out. It'S cut we're going to start inserting the clips into the hair, making sure i do it. Gentle don't want to poke pretty. This is my first time getting a u-part wig by the way, so i'm very curious to see how it works so you're taking the combs right now, yeah, i'm just inserting them in place. It was fine, wow, so easy wow that water bottle. What kind of water bottle is that where'd you get that from? Oh, you can get that salad, okay and you're using a denman brush, yes using a denim brush. You can find this at sally's awesome, so i'm just going section by section spraying the hair down. This is only water. I haven't put any product in my hair, yet super cute. It'S so satisfying watching the denman brush just like detangle and watching the curls define right before my eyes. So would you suggest that i moisturize wet and detangle every day? I say every three days: okay to preserve the curl after you define it at night. I always say: do the pineapple method, so the curls sit on top of your head and then you can take it down. But since this has clips in you're able to actually take it off, okay is there a way you can do it just kind of like not super something's easy that i could probably take out myself. You know i was on it. Yeah yeah he's gon na sew. It down a little bit just so i don't have to worry about it. Falling off at the wedding reception. Justin is also going to this wedding. He said if it falls off at the reception he'll help me, because he now knows how it's installed. That is funny because i'm picturing matches it up with the quickness off the floor dust it off. He has a denman brush in his back pocket. The beauty of a u-part wig, that's crazy. The convenience and people who see me with it on will be never the wiser yeah. I definitely feel like wigs are good ways to wear short styles without committing to actually cutting your hair yeah. So you can kind of see what your hair will look like or how you would look with your hair shorter. I love this mousse because it dries super fast and we all know once we're dealing with curly hair. We do not want to wait for our hair to dry yeah, it's a whole thing, so kamara has kind of blown my hair dry a little bit so that she can get a more accurate. I guess you can get a more accurate cut, we're going to cut it a little bit, but not too much, because it's probably going to shrink up a little bit more after it's fully dry yeah, so we just got done diffusing it just so. The curls can set in and then yeah yeah. Basically, what i'm going to want is just like a blunt cut, all the way across the bottom. I know it looks a little wet now, but once it's dry you'll be able to like fluff it out to kind of give that volume yeah and how many bundles is this way it's only two bundles you want to go for more natural feel. You only need two bundles. What product are you using right? Now, i'm using the moisturizing curl jelly by uh character, looks like blending your hair a little bit more. Oh i'm ready to get that curl jelly other than that. You are look at my five head cute yeah. I like it a lot thanks. Karen no problem, everyone follow camara raw intuition raw intuition. That'S two w's follow the curl journey and check out other styles by freddie. She was rocking that 30 inch. Yes, love to switch. It up you

Cheserii: I make hand-tied lace front wigs (for fifteen years now) so I’ve seen a lot of wigs and this wigs is a really nice wig

Blackkat: Girl I didn't know you started your own channel! CONGRATS YOU DESERVE IT GIRL!!

rosehipandhibiscus: I'm watching this just for the extra education on installs and wigs and textured hair styles!! As a hairstylist that had to learn off my peers for most of my textured hair knowledge I just loving watching somethibg easy going and fun!!

Monica Branch: That blend was everything! Looks greats and not bulky at all. Loved it.

sara wilby: I would love to see more like this! Learned a lot but mostly, sooo satisfying.

russthicc: Sooooo, after watching this, I went ahead and ripped out the silicone part thing on my $10 Amazon wig to make it look like a U-Part. I regret doing that, and I shaved my brows so I look extra crazy.

Lynn Stanley: On god if I hadn’t read the description I’d still be wondering why there was a massive wedding during the pandemic the reveal is amazing thooooo

Colleen Trodge: So I'm curious! How long did this style take? What does your stylist charge? How long can you wear this wig? You rock that bob btw!

Amber Skye: This is true. If I’m going to have leave out I make sure I have hair with texture and it doesn’t necessarily have to be kinky straight. I’ve been able to get my hands on coarse Cambodian hair and it blends beautifully when my hair is lightly pressed

Kathryn Elyce Williams: girl I use that heat protectant spray too. love all of your looks!

TheCreoleQueen Chachere: I love this look on you Freddie! I hope it’s ok for me to ask Kamara a question here in the comments...or anyone who may have the answers I’m looking for? This or a left part are my usual go to styles but it’s my hair in a wash n go. I’ve been wearing my hair out wayyyyyyyy too much as of late. That said, I’ve been growing my hair out for the last 5 years and it has grown all around to 23-24” when it’s stretched. I want to do a u-part wig for protective styling and I’m thinking the shortest length I can use is 24”. I don’t mind BIG hair, but I want to go for somewhat of a natural look. Since I’ll need more bundles I assume, I am curious how many I may need? I read that the longer the length of the bundles...the less “ground” the bundle will cover. Is that true? If I’m attempting to use 26, 28, 30 and at the longest 32” bundles while only leaving out a portion of my hair that’s 5” depth and 2” wide...any suggestions on how many bundles I should order/buy? This isn’t the 1st time I’ve bought or worn weave but this is the longest my hair has been maybe in my life and the 1st time I’ve needed to order bundles this long. Any info would be sooooo appreciated ❤️
