FILM DESCRIPTION:

Reese Witherspoon stars in this romantic comedy, the feature film debut of award-winning Australian director Robert Luketic. As a ravishing Miss Hawaiian Tropic, sorority president, and calendar girl, Elle Woods (Witherspoon) is a big hit on the campus of her sun-drenched Los Angeles college. She's also got the perfect boyfriend in Warner Huntington III (Matthew Davis), a wealthy East Coast blue blood. Fearing that his snooty friends and family will never accept the bubble-headed Elle, however, Warner dumps her before heading off to graduate law school at Harvard University. Determined to win back her man, Elle enrolls in the same imposing institution, quickly becoming an object of scorn and ridicule, especially to Warner's old prep school flame (Selma Blair). Despite her penchant for malls, makeup, and tanning, Elle is no dummy and is soon showing elite Ivy League snobs a thing or two about class, self-confidence, and courtroom victory.

Miss Windham: what had you done earlier that day I got up, got a latte, went to the gym, got a perm and came home. Where you got in the shower. I believe the witness has made it clear that she was in the shower.. Yes, Your Honor. Miss Windham .... Had you ever gotten a perm before Yes.? How many would you say Two a year since I was twelve., You do the math.. You know a girl in my sorority Tracy Marcinko got a perm once.. We all tried to talk her out of it. Curls weren't, a good look for her.. She didn't have your bone structure., But thankfully, that same day she entered the Beta Delta, Pi wet t-shirt contest where she was completely hosed down from head to toe. Objection. Why is this relevant? I have a point.. I promise Then make it. Yes, ma'am. Umm ... Chutney. Why is it that Tracy Marcinko's curls were ruined when she got hosed down ?'Cause? They got wet Exactly. Because isn't it the first cardinal rule of perm maintenance that you're forbidden to wet your hair ... For at least twenty-four hours after getting a perm at the risk of deactivating, the ammonium thioglycolate Yes. And wouldn't somebody who's had say thirty perms before In their life, be well aware of this rule And if, in fact, you weren't washing your hair, as I suspect you weren't, because your curls are still intact, ..., Wouldn't you have heard the gunshot And if, in fact, you had heard the gunshot ..., Brooke Windham wouldn't Have had time to hide the gun before you got downstairs., Which would mean that you would've had to have found Mrs. Windham with a gun in her hand, to make your story plausible.. Isn'T that right, She's, my age, Did she tell you that? How would you feel if your father married someone who was your age? You, however, had time to hide the gun. Didn'T you Chutney After you shot your father., I didn't mean to shoot him. I thought it was you walking through the door Order Order Order? Oh, my god - Oh my god, Oh my god, Bailiff, take the witness into custody where she will be charged for the murder of Hayworth Windham. In the matter of the State versus Brooke Windham .... This case is dismissed., Mrs. Windham you're free to go.. Yes, Thank you. Elle, how do you know that Chutney was lying, ?'' Cause she's, brilliant? Of course The rules of hair care are simple and finite. Any cosmo girl would have known

CleffaBae: I love how Elle's friends, as ditsy as they are, still showed up to support their friend despite not knowing what's going on

Theofano Galani: She was proving she was a murderer while complimenting her too on her bone structure and how good curls looked on her. We stan a female-supportive idol.

Jesus Davila: I absolutely love, *love* Elle's confusion at Chutney saying that she took a bath after her perm, because while the majority of the court laughs at her confusion and pretty much in their mind cement her as a "dumb blond", her confusion 100% comes from a utterly logical place because its Elle immediately noticing that Chutney's whole story *does not make any sense* whatsoever. Her confusion is the confusion of a very intelligent woman noticing the slip of the tongue of someone who knows very little of what they are talking about and its in that instant that game is over, and Elle has won.

Leonardo Yoshihara: I love how Elle's friends looks mad when people laugh at her at the beginning of the clip, go sisters

Katie Taylor: The actress playing Chutney turns in such a great performance in this scene - you can actually see tears in her eyes when she yells "I didn't mean to shoot him!"

Jules Love: Reese Witherspoon should have gotten an Oscar nomination for her role here. It used to be common for actors and actresses to get nominated for a comedic role, and win. This role is downright memorable, it's been 20 years and people still talk about Reese and Legally Blonde.

ph3rtehHDawg: One of the best things about this is that, for the longest time, Chutney's story was taken as true because none of the officials knew about the ins and outs of hair care and didn't see the contradiction in it. Elle, who is knowledgeable about fashion and hair down to the scientific principles surrounding them, was the first one to catch on to the inconsistency and completely unwound Chutney's entire fake alibi. A quality that others brushed off as part of being a 'dumb blonde' is a strength for Elle.

awesome blossom: i love the creative choice to not have luke wilson’s character say “oh my god” like everyone else. it expresses that he’s not surprised by her win, because he always knew she had it in her. instead he’s just speechless, shaking his head, blown away by her.

angelvity: It’s just satisfying to watch how Chutney looks so bored in the beginning then she starts freaking out near the end lol

Ardika Pradnya: Elle's friends are actually amazing. The story made them seem as the dumb superficial people at first but they are as supportive as a best friend could get. Helping Elle to achieve her goal even though it's so far from their world.

muP8085: The day he thought of Naming his daughter "chutney" sealed his death warrant.

Chelsea: Sis being charged with manslaughter, attempted murder, _and_ lying under oath.

Magileine, From Top-deck to Full Field: Elle: "What did you do prior?" Chutney: "I got a perm." Elle: ! Prosecution: "Why do I hear boss music?"

Makayla Clark: 0:36 "2 a year since I was 12, you do the math" I love the way she says that, like she's implying that Elle cant do it. Yet later she says 1:30 "and wouldn't someone who's had say, 30 perms in her life be well aware of this rule" not only does she know the answer she did the math in her head and just glosses over like nothing

Liv Rausa: Prosecution's face gets me everytime! She couldn't even yell objection because she was too in shock. Her star witness had a huge flaw in her alibi and didn't realize because she didn't know HAIR CARE. I can only imagine what was going through her head.

Beeski: I love watching everyone’s facial expressions while Elle is going to town. They’re suddenly face to face with their own prejudices. Brooke and Emmett are satisfied because they always believed in her. And Elle’s friends were the first to realize what she had just found out.

imuawarriors: Chutney's teary eyes are so perfect... and when she covers her mouth after admitting she did it - great acting... finally - she is so pretty!

Ladenna Young: She didn't believe in herself at first during this clip. She became confident rather quickly. This movie is actually a inspirational movie.

groovymovie: I love this movie, because it shows all young women out there that being feminine and liking feminine things doesn’t mean you can’t also be smart. When she says, “any Cosmo girl would’ve known!” it’s like a direct nod to those girls saying “hey, believe in yourself! You can do anything!”

Gregory Blanchard: The funny thing is, in one of Elle's classes, she said she wanted to have a client who was innocent, and she end up having one. Iol

Coffee Addict: I love how you can actually see her body language change as soon as she catches the contradiction. She suddenly straightens and you can see the confidence.

Roy De Guzman: “Soften your opponent and then deliver the finishing blow.” Elle complimented her first about her bone structure in getting a perm.. then came hard with the flaw of her statement.

kas zam: Chutney: I got a perm. Elle: _I'm about to end this whole woman's career._

Keiji555: Can you imagine what kind of lawyer Elle would be if she also went in for a double major in Fashion and psychology? With the way she read both Enrique and Chutney, in regards to understanding how they see fashion, and how they behaved with their fashion sense, she would be insanely popular as a consultant in legal firms on that angle. You'd be surprised what kinds of expertise some lawyers bring to the table. Fashion is certainly something that people do overlook in cross-examination.

Blibbloob: I've always admired Lina Cardellini's acting in this scene. It's one thing to cry, as in spill tears, when you're acting. It's believable enough. But to be able to water your eyes and flush your face like that. Not overly forceful but as if she were truly enraged and filled with anguish but trying not to cry. To me that's impressive.

Mr. TW: The prosecutor was definitely one of the MVPs in this scene. First the look of realization at 1:29, the slow rise at 1:50 and then the audible gasp at 2:15.

arka: Elle won her case using the information she just received on the spot, without spilling her client's alibi, barely surviving law school, without the help of the jury, and only using her knowledge about hairs and beauty

Jessica Roeder: On another note, Elle knew the real reason why the blonde lady didn't shoot her husband and still kept it a secret.

fireteardrops: I love how Elle's entire demeanor and confidence changes the second she notices the flaw in the alibi.

01emercado01: Imagine going to jail because of a perm

Watson C.: I like Brooke Windham's face at 1:47 as she smiled because she put all the trust in Elle and she knew she chose the right person to defend her case

Sootnxtfound: I love how Elle exposed a girl because she knows exactly how perms work.

Mad Hatter: I love her friends, as soon as the witness said she had a perm and then had a shower they knew she was lying. They even raised their hands to answer Elle’s question. Love this film!!

GoldenRose: One thing I was curious about: Why would Chutney have admitted that she had her shower AFTER her perm? Then I realized, she didn't say "I had a perm then got home and took a shower." She had said she was in the shower BEFORE stating what she had done that day. So even though she lied about the shower thing, she didn't think to lie about what she had done earlier that day, which is where she tripped up. Even if she had put 2 and 2 together later and realized that her own story wasn't plausible, she probably wasn't banking on Elle knowing the one thing that could unravel her whole story I love this movie!

Christopher Bingham: Sometimes it takes a combination of book smarts and streets smarts to get things done. That's exactly what Elle had. She was brilliant in this scene.

Bon: I love how everyone in court was totes shocked when Chutney confessed - everyone except Emmett!!!! He was so proud of Elle

E T: She was just smiling cause she knew right then and there that she’d won the case. Love it.

Gabriel Luiz JA: Looks like Rachel is no longer the only daughter that Dr. Green is proud of.

Amber: The Cosmo girl spotted the lie when Chutney mentioned the perm, but the lawyer knew the questions to ask to further condemn her. I love it!

K: One of the things this movie made me realize is that even when you’ve finished a degree in something it’s never really too late to find something you’re passionate about. Sometimes it’s also the unexpected things in life that lead us to where we’re supposed to be

Shrishti Saha: This is literally the most powerful scene ever and I’ve watched it way too many times

jayvee bascos: I love the mood swing from 0 to winning when Elle heard the word "perm". It's like "okay girls, we're done here"

Emily Hedrick: Oh my gosh, I love the way Emmett looks at Elle after she wins! He's so proud of her. It was meant to be.

Caroline Manley: I LOVE the looks on Brook and Emmet’s faces while Elle is grilling Chutney. It’s like they’re silently saying, “Sic em Elle!”

LoveofmyLife: Elle smashing through dumb blonde stereotypes like a wrecking ball!

Armando Ucles: This is one of the best scenes in the film. Loved how Elle stayed calm, confident and she just let her inner power come out.

Anna Tribe: The tall guy, dorky David from Elle's class was doing an awesome dance off to the side after Elle won lol. Makes me laugh every time

DayvinDazone: I wish Elle could defend Britney in court, imagine this scene but in the context of Britney’s abuse/conservatorship instead of the murder plot. Elle debunking the entire scam and exposing daddy Spears for the fraud he is would be priceless

Hesed Payocong: When Amber Heard admitted that her op-ed was about Johnny Depp

Katlego Boale: I think we neglect to mention that her friends are real ones. Loyalty!! Also, if I had won this case, I wouldn't have handled it with as much class as Elle. I would've danced in Callahan's face

BirthdayKeeper: I love Legally Blonde because it shows that a woman can be in touch with her feminine side and also be successful in her career.

naturalbby🤍: I LOVE how she’s herself regardless of the situation! She uses her own knowledge, personality and facts to uncover the case! So intelligent! Everyone was confused and were laughing at her except Emmett because he doubted her once and was wrong now he knows what she’s capable of!

Ashlynn Sheehan: I like how Elle proved everyone wrong and showed them that she does have what it takes

StillJustDreaming: Love the way her mannerisms change - total confidence in what she's doing in the courtroom from 0:32 and on

aurell0115: no matter how much i rewatched this scene i still get goosebumps

Xieng T: I just love how Elle honored to keep the alibi a secret. They could have won the case right away. But instead, she found another way! I can relate to perm rules! LOL

Hermione Malfoy: I love how from the first time Brooke met Elle, she just knew Elle can be reliable. She even dressed up and all smug for the court.

SharkNato: I love Legally Blonde because it shows that a woman can be in touch with her feminine side and also be successful in her career.

Tiffany Leraa: This scene still gives me chills ❤️

Shadow Monster: This scene always brings chills down my spine, and I love it

Lin Yue: What I love about this scene is that everyone doubted Elle, even she did. You can tell with her saying ‘OMG,’ along with the judge and with the accused. Everyone except Emmett, he knew. He truly believed in her, even when she didn’t believe in herself. I always loved that little detail.

Brody Penn: “Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?” Chutney: “I do” Also Chutney: *lies*

Wonderland Is A Language: I love Linda Cardellini, she's such an amazing actress ❤

Sky Dragon: I like how the prosecutor realizes what Elle is going for when she talks about the chemical deactivation.

Shivangi Sharma: I love this move. You can be a cosmo girl or fashionsta, still have this amount of intellect to solve such a case with a small detail of perm.

Intreo: One thing I love about Legally Blonde is that everything is in sync and adds up. When I first saw the scene prior to this, which was the scene where Callahan attempted to hit on Elle, I thought it was just a lame attempt to try and make Elle quit and then repursue the court with new motivation, but I realized that it all added up. Had Callahan not hit on Elle, Callahan would've put Chutney on trial, and there is no way he would've been able to identify the perm, meaning that Callahan hitting on Elle was necessary in order for Elle to take control of the court, identify Chutney's perm, and eventually deem her guilty. I love how everything all adds up, another reason why I love Legally Blonde.

Agen Dior: my cosmetology teacher literally played this scene in class when we were leaning about perms

karmeeleon: When you realise the actress playing Chutney Windham is the same actress that played Velma Dinkley in the Scooby-Doo movies and Hawkeye's wife in the MCU.

A M: Who else is here after watching Camille mop the floor with Amber Turd?

Audrey Lockhart: “You have to go through your Elle Woods crying alone in a bunny costume scene before you can get to your Elle Woods kicking ass at law school and life scene”

Valerie Clapp: My favorite part is Emmett’s smile when Chutney confesses knowing Elle won the case.

Jamie Zarlingo: I get literal chills when I watch this scene, it’s SO intense and well done for such a comedic movie!

xx: I love how elle's friends are so supportive

Ella: I just love the confidence she has after hearing that she got a permanent and also the way she talked in the end when she exposed her

Terri Z.: I love how she switches from feeling unsure of herself to putting the papers on the table, crossing her hands confidently, and walking towards the witness" stand nowing she's about to win lol. Brilliant switch by Reese Witherspoon there.

Bobby Jay Johnson: Chutney: I got up, got a latte, went to the gym, got a perm, and came home. Elle: I’m finna end this woman’s whole career

Paul James: After 20 years this moment is still just as satisfying and one of the best movie moments!

Cryptic Charm: i remember watching this with my sisters, all veterans of perms (they have stright hair) i was born with curls, so only once as an expriment, wasn't a good one. the moment chutney mentioned a shower, they went "Oh my god". the rules of haircare really are simple and finate

CadanceHarmony: All chutney had to say was "perm" for Elle to think "Oh bitch I got you now!"

darknightxmare: Moral of the story: Don't tell the lawyer that you got a perm if she's badass, feminine, and awesome.

Karate Domination: When the judge goes OMG , i lost it .Like literally everyone in that courtroom seemed so unprepared for a twist.I LOVE IT

minty crazy: I can confirm perms work this way. My cousin permed my hair for prom and after I got home I washed the curls out. It was really cool to see it happen, and it brought back my natural curls. It was a win win

Jasmine Davis: The case aside, we gotta give Linda props for this scene. She went from a bratty, cocky heiress/socialite ready to watch her step-mother rot in prison for a crime she didn't commit, to an emotionally distraught woman who couldn't stand the idea of her much older father marrying a woman who could basically pass as her own sister. But you could hear how torn up she was about killing her father, that Brooke was supposed to be the one who died, so it meant that at the very least she loved him—even if she didn't like his taste in women.

Nana Osei-Tutu: I love Elle in this scene, getting to shine once again. The way she caught Chutney in her lie and exposed her was actually great, such a good movie!

Glenne De leon: My favorite scene in legally blonde ever❤️

Angy C: I really love back then they were playing on the stereotypes where someone like Ellie who interest lies in hair, beauty and fashion can also be intelligent to be a successful lawyer. Good positive movie!

Someguyhere111: "It was YOU who shot the victim, wasn't it?!" Phoenix: "Okay now this is where the witness stammers for any story they can and further testimony is required-" "YES IT WAS ME BUT I SHOT THE WRONG PERSON!" Phoenix: "... Damn she's good."

Diona Beck: I love how at 2:05, when chutney pointed to the bench everyone but Emmett was shocked. Emmett was like "that's my girl"!

Joy Anders: I have been watching this scene over and over since it showed up here. Love it!!

Lauranna: Calling your child Chutney is definitely setting them up to fail in life.

Ruben: Amber confesando haber escrito el artículo porque Johnny tenía aún muy buena imagen me trajo a este momento

Rochelle Banks: I love how Elle throws in how many perms Chutney has had since she was a child, she said you do the math as if Elle couldn’t count. First false move, she tried to embarrass Elle along with her lawyer and it backfired.

Happily, Taylors: Biggest mistake: Telling her that she got a perm

Briana Hale: This is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time. I love Elle and the reaction to her winning the case.

S F: I love the mom’s smile when Elle said, “She didn’t have your bone structure”.

Liz Carroll: I love how the mum was like “Aww” when Elle complimented Chutney’s bone structure

Edina rigl: It’s true what they say “All knowledge is good knowledge”

Gian: I absolutely love this scene

YuSeeMi: Brooke & Emmett were always my favorite characters, because they always gave her the benefit of the doubt, and in moments like this they knew her brilliance would shine through. ☺️

Zaii Liz Anvel: Nunca me canso de ver esta escena
