Today, we're going to be talking about a hot topic in the natural hair community - natural hair black women are relaxing their hair. Why?

Now, I know this can be a polarizing issue, but let's keep things positive and have a lively discussion! We'll explore why some women choose to switch back to relaxers, including pressure to conform to beauty standards, the time and effort required for natural hair, and not feeling supported in certain spaces.

I hope this video will give us all a chance to learn from each other, and to celebrate the beautiful diversity of black hair.

You guys have been seeing what I've been seeing. It'S been a little crazy out there, natural hair women are going back to relaxers. I thought I would never see the day and you know what I don't blame y'all. I have about four reasons for why I think Naturals are going back to relaxers number one. Natural hair is confusing, we're making it confusing. What once was when I was becoming a natural. It was just a simple: you know: leave-in Styler call it a day, keep it moving. Watch your hair grow. It was fun now we're making things a little too complicated. No oils, no Butters, don't use this hairline anymore, use this hairline, but don't use that product from that hairline. You should use that hairline. Don'T forget to do this twice a week this once a month. Don'T overdo it! Don'T forget your trims. It'S a lot and people are over complicating it and if you're like anything like me, you're consuming a lot of things about natural hair, because that's what you're into that's your thing, but it's getting confusing and once you get confused you get fed up. You don't want to deal with it at all. Another reason I think Naturals are going back to relaxers is because of the manageability manageability, making it more manageable to deal with their hair. I was watching a video about a woman, who's, a lawyer and she was a mom and she was all these things and she was super busy and she was like I'm going back to relaxers. You know like it's just easier for me in my hair. I just comb it out and go and my day is simple: you know what I get it. I don't blame you. It becomes time consuming when wash day becomes hours on your Sunday comes time consuming when you wake up every morning and you're not sure what your hair is going to look like, because you didn't know what you were doing the night before it becomes time consuming and Some people really just don't, have the time for it. I understand I get it. I think another reason why we're going back to relaxer is when I say we I mean natural hair community. I think the shift to relaxers is coming from the media, and I will say this: one really does affect me when I was creating my vision, board and kind of putting up imagery of women. I you know just wanted to look at every day and inspire me or whatever. A lot of women in luxury did not have natural hair, and that was a whole thing on Tick Tock, for a while black woman in luxury, and whenever you looked up that on Tick Tock, it was never a girl with natural hair or if it was, you Had to really dig and look for her, and even then it was about three or four or five women. Black girl luxury looks like tapings, weave extension, wigs lace fronts. It was never a girl with a cute fro, some curly hair out to here. It was never that kind of vibe. I really think this kind of actually stems from like our childhood. I know for me at least when it was time to get dolled up and get cute for an event like Easter or whatever your hair was straightened. The night before your hair was getting blow dried and laid to the side. Now, as we're getting older, doing our hair and we're taking in the natural hair movement, you know we're learning The Twist outs and the perm rods and the all these other things, but even it seems like there seems to be like a little shift towards this. Is black girl luxury? This is what looking good looks like another reason why I do not blame y'all for going back to relaxers stylist. Now let's say you were like, we spoke before very confused by all the information overwhelmed and you decided you know what I'm going to invest in a stylist to take care of me and take care of my hair. These stylists are having the most outrageous protocols for you even coming to them. For example, let's say you decide to get braids. Give your hair a break. Give you some time some peace of mind. You are charging to detangle my hair to blow dry. My hair you're telling me that my hair has to be flat ironed in order to be going into knotless braids. Yes, I've seen it and you're charging for my extra thickness you're charging for my length. There'S a debate on Instagram. I saw where old school stylists. If a press and curl was fifty dollars, a pressing curl was fifty dollars. You'Re gon na add an extra hundred dollars onto my service because I just happen to have thick hair coming out of my head. It'S gon na. Take you an extra time to just comb. It how's that fair to me, I don't blame you, you can't find a stylist. The hair community is too confusing and it looks like black girl luxury is straight hair and tapered and weaves I'm going to relaxers. I get it guys. I would say personally for me: no, I'm not going to relaxers. My lifestyle is just too active to be keeping up with straight hair. I honestly love the natural hair movement, even though we have our ups and downs, our pros and cons. It'S a beautiful moment. I love what comes out of my scalp. It gives me a hard time, but you know I like to think I perfected a method with my fine natural hair. If you are struggling come over here join the channel, I have tons of videos about fine natural hair or just natural hair in general Styles, protective styles, things of that nature and I'll help you. This video is not to bash anybody who does decide to get a relaxer. Do you I'm not judging you, like I just said. I gave you reasons why I believe and understand why you would go back to relaxers but be careful y'all. These relaxers are just not the same like it used to be and going from natural hair to relaxers. I know y'all saw that video on YouTube, where a girl decided to relax her hair and chunks of it were falling off as the relaxer was processed thing. Oh, my heart hurt watching that I'm gon na link it below if you haven't seen it, but this girl took it with a little on the chin and just shaved. Her head off and now has a cute TWA go to professional y'all. We'Re not doing these at home relaxers, no more like it's just too risky out here, y'all! That'S all I had to talk about today like society's crazy. I had it. I had put my two cents into it. Just be healthy, be happy! Thank you! So much for watching give me a like if you like this video, if you made this far, leave a hair flip Emoji in the comments subscribe. If you liked my content and leave down below how you feel about the natural hair movement going into relaxers and things of that nature, what are your thoughts? Nicole Curry: Yes, some women are going back to relaxers. However, the same reason you left the relaxers alone; your hair will be the same once you relax your hair again. If your hair broke off or thinned badly, it will certainly happen again. Nothing change.Good luck....

restless journey: The creator of all natural things on earth made afro textured hair this way. People have the choice to deal with the struggle or find a quick fix. That quick fix is straightening the hair. I also, say that those women opt out for the quick fix. With that being said, they should not complain about hair injustice or non-bw getting "black hair styles." I can also, guarantee that most of those women will return natural once they realize that natural hair is where it's at because it's home familiar.

CammyjOfficial: You brought up so many good points. Relaxers are not for me, but I’m never going to try and vilify anyone who wants to get one!

Ginelle Nere': This video!! Yes to all of the reasons! I get it but I wouldn’t do it. Once you know what works for you hair stick to that! That’s what helped me. ‍♀️ I say whatever makes everyone happy!

Reservechic: I am okay with supporting females who relax their hair and those that. I currently wear my hair in it’s naturally textured wavy state, and I go by a streamlined, more minimalistic approach to caring for my natural hair. Yes, I do use Olaplex on my hair, only on my recommended Olaplex hair wash days, but outside of that I mainly go go the sulfate and silicone route. I don’t follow any natural hair trends, and I only take real professional advice towards caring for my hair. And, I only use 1 product to style my hair with. I don’t think that no one should go by everything these so called major natural hair influencers” recommend that people do and use. Their under contract with a lot of brands, especially hair care brands geared towards naturally textured, and they are constantly getting paid to do paid promotion videos. However, they are going to expensive salons and getting their hair professionally done in many cases for free. So, that way they can keep their hair it’s healthiest. And, people don’t even know what products they really regularly use the most on their hair, because none of their viewers are living with them to see. Dishonesty and lack of credible knowledge is what ruined the natural hair community here on YouTube. They don’t have all that going on with the relaxed chicks making videos here on YouTube. They also don’t go around acting like “relaxer nazis, while on the other hand the natural hair community on YouTube has gotten way too many “natural hair nazis” to count. There really was never a real natural hair movement that began on YouTube when people started to see more Black females come on YouTube with natural hair or that chose to transition towards going natural. It was nothing but a trend, because plenty of those that claimed that they were so cool with rocking their natural hair out, weren’t really keeping it all the way with themselves or their viewers. They were going through tons of products wanting their hair to look and feel a certain desired way and after they had struggled to achieve that, the easiest route was just to go back to what they knew the most, relaxers. Because truth be told, relaxers have never stopped being sold in a lot of stores and salons have never stopped having plenty of Black females come into to get their hair relaxed or touched up. God made all is to blessed with genetically different hair, no matter what ethnic group(s) one chooses to identify with. Whether one chooses to love and embrace the natural hair that grows out of their scalp, it all boils down to how that individual sees themselves. Some people see themselves only as beautiful and desirable with a certain look to their hair, which is what largely leads one to alter their hair in a major way. Or, one can choose to be at peace with the type of natural hair God gave them and see themselves as beautiful and desirable in their own naturally unique way. Also, it must be said that there are tons of Black females rocking weave and wigs (especially lace fronts) like crazy nowadays. Their not doing it for protective styling. Their doing it because theater the type of hair they really desire they had been born with. It doesn’t look 100% natural on them at all, as you can see from a mile away that it’s fake, but they still don’t care. They don’t care if they lose all of their edges or possibly lose almost all of their hair. They have a set mindset and nothing anyone could ever say or do will ever be able to change that. Which is why, I just keep to my own business, and make sure my hair is continued to be properly taken cared of and loved to the fullest. ❤

kennedra: Weaves tape ins blow dry and fry do whatever but I think there has to be a line drawn when it comes to the fact that these products cause cancer and infertility.

Thebe Mphahlele: I'm a lazy natural and my washdays are 1 hour max. My hair still grows and it's 4C and full. I'll never go back to relaxer. My hair was thin brittle. It was horrible

Anita De La Cruz: I grew up in the curl / relaxer era. After 8 years of being natural, I relaxed it due ti the cold weather, flu and ear infection. I'll cut it off again Shall I go back to natural. It's what's best for me.

Keisha's Hair & Beauty Zone: So true I’m relaxing my hair soon

Phenomenally Patty: ‍♀️I agree with all things said. Especially about the black girls in luxury. I still feel like anytime it's a special occasion my hair should be straight/wig.

Indiaa Nikol: Really the relaxer was sooo much easier to maintain but too many chemicals

Pam: My confusion is nappy or natural. I say comb your hair, I don't want to see nappy cotton in the hair. Wash your hair.

Arlita: New sub!

CammyjOfficial: Whewh chileeeee
