Rinsing your hair with just water or shampooing it. What is better, what's the difference. That is what we're talking about today. I see so many comments and people talking about this, so i just want to share my opinion as a stylist on what i think is better. So for people who don't want to shampoo their hair and just want to use water, the reason is most likely you're looking for a healthier alternative or you're. Thinking that washing your hair every single day is going to be damaging or drying to your scalp or it's going to strip your natural oils, which can be true if you're, using a lower quality type of shampoo that doesn't have any sort of extracts or oils in Them so if you are using just straight up, harsh chemically filled products that cost. Maybe you know three or four dollars that you can buy at the drugstore. That may be somewhat of an issue if you're washing hair every single day. For example, i've tried out a variety of different body, washes and soaps, and many of them actually most of them dry out my skin and they they quote-unquote are moisturizing. My body wash my it's called body, literally it's infused with oils and vitamins, and it leaves your skin feeling super soft and so there's a big difference when using higher quality products, so water. What does water actually do and if you do want to start to transition into washing your hair less then this is what i recommend. So the first thing you need to understand is: why should you or do you want to wash your hair? I can assume the number one reason is just because it's dirty right, your hair starts to smell. There'S product build up, it just feels grimy and greasy and you're, just like you have to wash it and that's normal because who wants to walk around with product in their hair and your hair feeling all greasy and then rinsing it just with water. That is going to just kind of temporarily take away the product and not be so harsh, so to speak on your scalp or your hair. However, it's not necessarily cleansing it like a shampoo washing with water versus shampoo. So, let's start with water. What should you do? How should you do it? So if your hair starts to get a little bit dirty right so say you shampoo your hair today i would say you can rinse it tomorrow. If you want - and you should use warm water - don't use water - that's too hot, because that can actually strip the oils from your hair and cause and make your scalp to be a bit irritated. So you want to use kind of lukewarm water, and you can also pretend that you're giving your own scalp a shampoo just by breaking up some of the product buildup that may be on your scalp or throughout your hair. So don't just sit there and rinse it without doing anything actually get in there and lightly kind of massage the scalp, and what that does is it breaks up those excess oils and that buildup on your scalp and it also get breaks it up throughout the hair. So that when you rinse it you're actually rinsing away what shouldn't be there right and again, it's not totally washing it like a shampoo, but it's a helpful great alternative in between washes. Now, when you use hot water or warm water, it really opens up the cuticle. Okay and then, when you use cool water or a cool rinse that closes the cuticle and helps fight against frizz helps lock your lock in a bit more moisture. So i would recommend rinsing with like room, temp or lukewarm water again, do like the scalp, massage and then work it your hands throughout the hair and lightly run your fingers through it, and that will help and then you can kind of end the process with a Cool rinse just to kind of close the cuticle, so your scalp is not going to get any more buildup or any more oily. So how does that compare to using a shampoo? Can you can just use water uh forever i mean you can. I would ease into it so maybe shampoo today, you know, don't do anything tomorrow and then the next day, rinse and then rinse again and then the end of the week. Maybe shampoo it again lately and then go down to maybe one day a week and then try this method of rinsing, your hair with warm water and then a lot of people also talk about conditioner. Can i rinse my hair and just use conditioner? Well. Conditioner is great if you've got curly hair, if your hair tends to frizz, if your hair needs that kind of conditioning - yes, that's totally fine, just as long as you're, not overdoing it, where you're, maybe making your hair very flat or over conditions, you're, not getting a Lot of volume in it, so i would practice the same thing where maybe every other day or every two days, um or just shampoo it and condition it and follow this process, then maybe use something like my 25 spray, you know, or a leave-in detangler spray to Help kind of make your hair feel and look good. So that's another alternative dry shampoo is great as well that helps kind of remove some of the impurities and it gets rid of some of that oil build up. So then washing your hair, you know, will it damage your hair? Will it dry out your scalp again? You don't have to wash your hair every day unless you are using a high quality shampoo, which i make great high quality shampoos and there's so many other ones out there. So if you're using a great high quality, shampoo and conditioner, then you should be pretty much in good shape. If you are using something a bit more on the inexpensive side and it's loaded with chemicals, then you know you may be drying out your scalp and maybe a bit more at risk of damaging your hair and even your scalp over time. So again, it really depends on you. Sometimes i think about as common sense. If your hair is disgusting, oily greasy loads of product, you got ta wash it. You know what i mean. It'S like. It'S like take take a plate. That'S got a bunch of food on it and, if you just rinse it with water and you keep using that plate over and over again, eventually that plate is gon na get build up from that food and you're gon na have to use a sponge and soap To really get clean it, it's almost like the same thing with hair, so you know it's: it's not a big myth, not a huge mystery, but you can go the water route as long as you're doing it properly and don't just sit there with water and rinse. Like this and think that's gon na be enough, you know you can actually again massage the scalp work, the scalp to kind of, remove and lift that buildup from your hair and your scalp and that's gon na help cleanse it even better and also with a lot Of product in your hair, it does start to build up and it starts to smell after a while, i've, shampooed hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people's heads throughout my career, and you know like the the elderly woman who comes in once a week when i wash Her hair, i would just rinse it - i mean it's stunk of product. The water was cloudy, it was just disgusting and then once you shampooed it, then it you know, lasted throughout the week, but yeah you will sort of get that smell. It'S gon na feel gross. If you don't keep on top of it, so that's pretty much it. David_ Fisilau: It’s funny how the bald guy knows more than us

Alby: I haven’t been using shampoo for 2 weeks now. My hair is more voluminous, and so far no dandruff. I can’t wait to surprise my barber with my flake-free scalp .

FibbyZ: Been using your VOLUME set once a week, while rising my hair each day in between with hot then cold. I'm less reliant on using other products this way and no longer feel like I need to clean the hair twice a week!

Unimportant Account: useful to hear a professional's opinion!

Will Helliwell: 3 weeks into washing with only water so far. It’s a bit greasy but makes it so much easier to tie up now

Jim L: My big question would be: "How do you know all this?" And by that I mean, how do you know you have to massage your scalp if you're doing the water-only method? How do you know that works? Was a study conducted where one group just let warm/hot water run through their hair without massaging, while another group let warm/hot water run through their hair and also massaged their scalp? And then you examined the results? How do you know that rinsing with cold water produces better results than rinsing with warm/hot water? See what I'm getting at? I could be wrong, but I don't think any studies have ever been conducted on what techniques work best if you opt for the water-only rinsing/wash, yet there are so many "experts" out there giving advice. I am just over three weeks into the no shampoo (aka "no poo") method, and I am loving it! I had the super oilys the end of Day 1, all of Day 2 and all of Day 3. Day 4, things actually weren't as bad; I saw a noticeable difference. And after that, things have slowly gotten better and better. There's no smell either; your hair just smells like natural hair. I don't rinse with cold water. I don't massage my scalp, though I do sort of squeegee my hair while the warm/hot water is running through it. When I'm done, I simply pat the excess water with my towel, and then I just use a wide-toothed comb. Done. This has been working for me, but I would add that I, too, haven't conducted any experiments on myself to see if other techniques worked better.

Mike Lawrence: As usual, great information. I'll be washing every other day and rinsing every other day. Thanks guy!

P4RR0T: Which days in a cycle (lets say, rise daily but shampoo every 2 days) do you think you should apply oil? Cause like, the rinse day before the shampoo day is the oiliest day (I would suppose) so adding oil that day would be a bad idea?

Unknown User: Thanks man I have 360 waves and this helped , I would always use shampoo for my washes but now I skip sometimes with water only and my hair is healthy

Jose Castillo: Started experimenting. Shampoo one day, just rinse the next day, towel dry and use dry shampoo for the in between days before feeling like I need to shampoo it again.

GG AA: This was very informative and helpful Thanks alot

Adriana Rodarte: My hair falls off extremely when I shampoo! And when I rinse w only water, my hair is fuller and doesn’t fall of and it honestly don’t smell bad at all. I only light shampoo once a week.

Wei Xian Tay: This video totally hit the spot for me dude, keep it up!

Gfuel SoccerMom: There are lots of “not shampoo” hair washes that are good alternatives to rinsing with water. Modern Mammals is a product that I like for this.

Z: Does this happen to anyone- you workout everyday and there's sweat in your hair but you don't wanna use shampoo on it everyday..... Just me?

Marty Little: If you're hair smells, use some shampoo. If you use product like silicones, you need some cleansing agent. You don't have to wash everyday but use a higher quality product with condition it.

Never More: I've only used warm water an then cold water to rinse off my hair for a year now an so far its helped me. Still every month or so ille use some coconut oil, or aloe that I let set then wash out. Just have to be thorough an scrub gently, no more dandruff an less itch then when I even used Tea Tree.

Lake Show: Love these videos! Helpful af!

Erick Morelos: Thank you so much for sharing this, it's very helpful!! :D

Ouk Sovan អ៊ុកសុវណ្ណ: thanks. i really needed this because I was researching hard about this but couldn't find enough info. much love <3

Carlos Flores: I have hair about 10 inches long. I don't use product to style. I'm thinking: Monday wash/condition Wednesday rinse Thursday condition (maybe Friday Rinse) Saturday (or Friday)dry shampoo And then start over Thoughts anyone?

Ali Al Hajaj: Thanks for the info! What shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are you using?

Ashe Taylor: For someone with short hair, what’s your opinion on Method 2 in 1 shampoo? Or should I go back to a separate shampoo and conditioner?

SarahlabyrinthLHC: I wash my hair once a week with shampoo diluted with water. Then from ear length down I stroke 16 drops of baby oil into the length before applying conditioner and doing the final rinse on my hair. I just use shampoo and conditioner from the supermarket. Works well for me, my hair is now calf length.

Regneva 8813: Just affirming hear. If I am someone that uses a clay product would you or anyone recommend that I wash it everyday or could I go a few days before I do so? Thanks again to anybody that answers, much appreciated.

The Pustachi: Is it ok to use a scalp massager when I wash my hair with just water between shampooing? Can I use castor oil and leave it on over night?

julie clark: Any advice for me? I have long previously highlighted dry, more frizzy hair. When I sleep, my head sweats so much.. I only wash once a week (with a shampoo bar) and use a refresh spray and dry shampoo. I don’t want my hair too dry bc it gets frizzy but I also don’t want smelly hair.

Ahsan Abrar: Hello, please suggest a shampoo which can be used daily, because hair gets oily. Can we use soap like dove also? Thankyou

john atkinson: What about for oily hair? Or did I miss that part?

Isaac Mendez: I use olive oil in my hair before to use a shampoo, is when it's like a little wet and fresh that looks amazing. How I can mantein the humidity? Thats what I truly need!

Everdine Stenger: As I have very fine and thin hair I stopped using shampoo a few months ago. When I use shampoo it was takes days to recover, now even my hairdresser sees abdifferenc, my har feels like hair and not feathers.

Solid Rock: Yeah but bro you keep mentioning 'product build-up' and how shampoo is used to remove this from your scalp. A lot of people that no-poo actually don't even use product on their hair, myself included. I'm a guy and have longer hair, in the process of growing it out. I don't use ANY product on my hair. No wax, gel, styling spray, sea-salt spray, nothing. I comb twice a day to distribute the natural oils through my hair and rinse it every day / every 2 days. My hair feels better than ever, has way more volume than when I used to shampoo it and it's not greasy at all. My hair as found its natural cycle and it's totally fine. Not everyone uses product on their hair and that is what shampoo is meant for, to remove product build up. If you're not using any product on your hair and you scalp massage, comb, brush and rinse, you're totally good without shampoo. I suggest to try no-poo for 2-3 weeks and see the results on your hair. It definitely works for me. Saves some coin as well.

Fredrik Bjerke: Have not used shampoo in about 3-4 months. My hair is amazing rn. Definitely the way to go if you dont use product imo

Rahul Thakur: Should we rinse our hair everyday ? Please answer sir I am very confuse

Pratham: heyy, I use Cantu curling cream everyday ( i cannot go the other day without it) should i shampoo everyday to get rid of the product from the day before or give it a water rinse off?

chad johnson: i have to wash my hair everyday. i produce enough oil to make a successful oil refinery lol. i tried washing it every like 2 or 3 days for about 6 months and it just made things worse

Joan Petersen: I’m getting a Karastan treatment (not sure about the spelling) but what product should I be using on my hair after I receive that treatment so far I’m using your hemp shampoo n conditioner

Preetam Sarmah: is it fine if I use, say head and shoulders once a week or 10 days to shampoo? or is it going to be bad for my hair/scalp? ( i have a 2c-3a type hair)

Andrew Timerman: Thanks for the information in this video! I was just wondering if you could tell me what products you used in the Taylor Holder haircut video a few months ago! Appreciate your help

ninaadark18 Williams: Thank you so much i always want to know about this I used to wash my hair everyday with inexpensive shampoo and after used a bad products which is causeed my scalp hair to fall and i lost back in the days i heard voices that i had the best hair in the village now i semi fucking bald 19yrs old boy

rehvitalize: What about someone who exercises alot? I work out monday through Thursday and again on Saturday; i skip friday and sunday, I do a five mile run and my hair gets soaked, should I then shampooand condition everyday? I usually just shampoo every other day like monday then wednesday I also use coconut oil when I feel like my hairs super dry. Thank you for looking at my comment if you do cheers!

Jesus Calle: What type of shampoo do you recommend for oily hair?

Hamad Haider: No matter what I do I’ve tried all the methods. My hair always frizzes up or is very dry. Is it just genetics at this point? @salonguy please respond. I have very thick hair

Corey Dean: I've washed my hair with shampoo everyday and my hair gets insanely greasy really fast, im gonna try and just rinse my hair with water for a while and see if it balances itself (Edit) I don't use any product

Shaurya Sharma: Dandruff build up every other day of not not shampooing. What would you recommend ?

Eve: Dandruff is the serious reason I do use shampoo everyday or it will start itching at the night before sleeping .

Jerry Tom: What do i do if my hair isnt getting or doesnt have enough protein??

The Egg: I just completed 2 weeks of no shampoo and I can't take it anymore. My my hands are horribly greasy after touching it in the shower. Water alone will not cut through it. My scalp scrapes off easily under my fingernail if I scratches my head. Haven't tried a scrubbing tool like a brush, but I don't think that will help. I have always had a big problem with my hair returning to greasy less than 24 hours after washing. I happened to try Salon Selectives® Marula Magic™ from Dollar Tree® and the difference was night and day. Have never used any shampoo costing over $1 USD before. I wonder what a more expensive one might do. Maybe even better. Maybe worse. I don't know. What I do know is that I have hair that must be washed every day and I don't think water alone could ever be for me. I was hoping that my hair would eventually stop becoming greasy and stop replacing oils if I stopped stripping them with harsh chemicals. But as of 2 weeks, the answer has been NO and this whole experience has been a nightmare for me.

99nobilis99: I train twice a day, early in the morning and in the end of work. Would you have a suggestion for my case?

Muchacha (Ojos de papel): Keep up with the content, high quality channel(man with long hair)

RAHATINNAME: Use a sulfate free shampoo if you have oily hair, if your hair either is naturally dry or gets oiler three to four days, then use that type of shampoo far less. Plus theres stuff like Dry Shampoo when your hair gets greasier during the week.

Rogue-Spear: What if I buy Head & Shoulders and mix a bit of olive oil into the bottle?

BTC: It’s interesting to watch a guy giving advices for hairs when he doesn’t have any on his head.

Sullyy: Can you do the flow middle part in depth please

Mr Shankly: I saw your vid of holland’s hair in the devil all the time was great! Can you do robert pattinson’s in that same movie? It seems different from the one you did with his batman one

Navraj Singh: Love u brother ur my teacher for hairs

Yuvaraj Basu: How to maintain the loose messy wet look in the hair?? Like can u recommend a product that will give a wet look but has low hold like so that my hair can be loose and messy

Shruthi Ji: I'm doing wortout daily...so i sweat frequently....so i do wash my hair with only water daily...can i do that??

fuseeesn: I do it water rinse one a week in between my shampoo to keep my naturals oils and not get dry hair and scalp

Axolotl: If I shampoo everyday, I can’t get a good hairstyle, styling cream makes my scalp dry

jarred Nelson: Could you please do Leonardo DiCaprio’s hairstyle from the basketball diaries?

Wildfire: dude do you know how much is it cost "high quality shampoo" in my country...its a lot i assure you also i dont believe any of the cosmetic products they are all just crap they make everythüng worse because we are living in a consumerist world they dont try to fix probleblems they just adjust their producs to be consumed as fast as possible i dont believe any shampoo can fix my greasy hair problem because that would mean less consumption and less profit for that company water all the way...i switched to water 1 week ago and my hair dont get greasy anymore and i discovered this by myself before doing any research on net one day i get mad and said fuck all the shampoos and all the cosmetic products that claim any fix about any problem they dont fix they make it worse with colleteral damage to our body.

Wizard max pro: So i uses a inexpensive shampoo which includes sulphate, will rinsing my hair everyday with only water better for me?

Gretta Lemabouchou: I use only distilled. Only once per week....with an Organic poo. My hair is to my hips....and I intend to grow longer~~~~~less is more def. But, I must say, you need to wash out the impurities in the air, dust etc.....and sweat and old skin cells. You can also use two or three drops of rosemary oil in your shampoo bottle...:)))))

Creepy Wood: Thanks I don’t know how to thank ☺️ I use hair iron almost every other day it will hurt my hair ? I mean if I use argan oil before use it’s fine ?

Aazernet: great vid! do you think you can make a video of taking care of a perm?

I P: I'm just beyond ugly so makes no difference sadly and all my years of strict daily care has been an utter waste of energy, money, and, most importantly, time!
