Hi everyone, Andrew Carruthers, here education, director for Sambia, if you've seen us before, you know that we love our razors and we actually have a lot of razor content and we want to add onto another razor video that we had before, where we taught you some of The really fundamental pieces of razor cutting, so what our recent discovery is, is how to really control the angle of the razor in relationship to the hair. So let me first show you this on a on a flip chart here. So the angle of the razor is really essential, based on how it actually reacts with the cuticle and with the ends of the hair. So first thing that happens. A lot of times is if the razor comes in, and it's too perpendicular to the hair strand. If it's coming in almost at a right angle to it as that razor blade comes down the surface of that hair, it's not only not cutting very well, but it's actually shredding up the cuticle layer on the actual hair. So if we take this angle and we go too far, the other way if we come in and the razor comes in at more of a flat angle to the hair, what tends to happen is we come through and we do this. So if you look what that does to the end of the hair as it travels through now, we have a very loose and thin little piece at the tip of the hair. So it creates a very weak piece of hair, not to mention, if you're too flat, you're going to struggle to get through the hair with the razor and it's going to take forever. So really what the most beneficial angle is going to be is somewhere in kind of a 45 degree, because if we come in at a 45 degree with with the razor, what it's going to do is it's going to cut cleanly through and it's going to leave Us a much more blunt end to the actual hair strand and that blunt end really solves the challenge that a lot of our clients have with a razor, which is that they feel like it leaves the hair feeling very rough or very raw. It can also lead to almost a feeling of having split ends. So let me just demo what this looks like on a real piece of hair. So if we take a section and we have the rotation of the blade more perpendicular to the hair, if you listen closely, it makes a horrible, sound, you're literally scraping the cuticle off of the hair. It'S horrible and you can see - I really didn't cut very much. So if I come in the opposite way - and I rotate the handle of the Signature Series - Sambia razor, if I'm too flat - I don't cut very much and what I end up with is you can actually even see the little bit of cuticle scale. That'S on the razor itself, and it's because I was at the wrong angle, so it really destroys the ends of the hair. So the most ideal position of the razor and rotation to the hair is at a nice angle. So what you can do is just take the blade here and lay it flat against the head. One of the reasons we created a swiveling action to this razor is so that you do not have to change your wrist angle, and all you have to do is rotate the blades slightly and now you are at a perfect angle to come through. Remove the hair. Very very easily, without resulting in ends that are split feeling or destroying the cuticle, so hopefully that answers some of your challenges in your razor cuts also inspire more confidence from your clients in receiving a razor cut. So, the next time you pull out that razor make sure you pay really close attention to those angles and we guarantee you're going to have a much better result. Thanks for watching I'm Andrew Carruthers education director a person you

Magnificent Make-up: According to my level 2 hairdressing book, you can only use a razor on wet hair otherwise they tear and shred the cuticle leaving the cortex frayed and exposed. Is that a razor specifically made for dry hair or is the book wrong?

Angela Bowser: This is great!! If your hair has already been ruined by the razor, how can you hide/fix all the ends that " look" split? I hear protect every time with bumble n bumble or Kerestate then add oil after my style but still see lots of flyawaysI can't stand what the razor did to my hair

Kari: As a client, not a stylist, who has a ton of curly-wavy hair but the strands are thin, I have found whenever a stylist cuts my hair with a razor, my hair doesn't feel good at the ends and is much more difficult to style. It seems the very tips recoil and look frizzy and like split ends. I prefer for my hair, that the razor is not used.

Angela S.: Just went to a new stylist, she has tons of experience, we discussed in detail what should be done for my hair to give it more bounce and wave: I have a lot of fine, wavy hair. Got a razor cut for the first time. Wound up with frizzy, shaggy, feathery hair that does not fall or curl in any flattering manner. Very disappointed.

Raenell: Not a hair stylist, going to go get layers in my hair next week and wanted to know if I should ask to have the layers done with a razor or shears. What's the benefit of using a razor over shears or vice-versa. Also, I want very blended layers, no horizontal lines. Any advice? Thank you in advance.

Roro Roro: Thank you for the accurate demonstration. You are the best teacher who teaches me the basics of hair cutting.

Kelvin Soares: Oi Sam meu nome é Kelvin e falo daqui do Brasil, sigo você no youtube e assisto seus videos. Muito obrigado por expor o seu conhecimento a nós. Só acho deficiente porque não leio em inglês e no youtube não tem a opção de legenda nos seus videos, mas gosto muito de coração, de pouco a pouco vou entendendo. Obrigado!

Margarita Villaman: Thanks, I tend to do the second one. I need to be more conscious were I place my blade so that it comes out smoothly. I love razor cutting and talk a lot of my clients into razor cut. They love how it lays, especially with pixie cuts.

Niki Haque: Great job easy to understand:)

Destinyatk: Very nice tutorial. Do u have a tutorial using a razor comb? I am definitely not a pro & feel somewhat more comfortable with using a comb. I bought one yesterday but watching videos on tips to thin out ends of hair? Also, would this work on a wig as well? Thanks

Donna Salazar: I can’t tell you how many times hairdressers have cut my hair so ugly with the razors with my hair dry I go home so upset so much hair off there’s not much they can do to fix it so I never go back to them again and spent over $180 for the ugliest haircut this just happened to me four days ago now to go to another salon in two weeks and see what she can fix I’m so sick and tired of these hairdressers saying they can do a cut and it comes out totally opposite from what I asked for please listen to your clients!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hermínia Paulo: Thats a very good explanation!!! Usually I just do haircut with razor in Medium to thicky hair.

Evelin Caprirolo Maury: thanks so much. this was a very helpful video

Hells_Razor: Can this be done with a straight razor? I’m a barber trying to get into more textured styles btw. Thanks!

pimpmyride: Let’s talk about that asymmetric bang tho.

CharlesBarry: I'AM A HAIRSTYLIST AND WHAT HE SAID IS TRUE, RAZORS DON'T ( CUT ) HAIR THEY ( RIP ) HAIR !!!

SpongeBob Marley: i have very thick hair and they create a lot of volume for this, i always wanted to reduce their thickness off but keeping the length of the wisps themselves, is it possible with this type of razor? right now my hair is kind of a messy, because i want to grow em out but in the meantime, sometimes i trim em because of this "bush" look they have.. even if in the end, in this way i never solved this thing that much

Divine Ecstasy: HI, Thanks for all tips and tricks! I am really intrigued about the model hair color- how did you obtained that amazing color please ?? I think is absolutely amazing

skylar: I have fine to medium thickness hair. Razoring my hair makes it look frizzy at the ends and flat.

Haizel Dawn: I have partial nerv damage in my hands & feet, very mild, but I tend to trip & drop things, I do not put razors near my face anymore.

artichokez: I cut my bangs w a bic single blade hahah looks perfect tho

Lola: Very helpful

jimyk: Very good advice. Is in true though that's better to cut with the razor only on wet hair? And not the whole haircut done by the razor just thinning or creating depth.

Aneja Ji Vlogging: What happens with trimming mens hair with razor does they solve wavy hairs or give a texture please reply?

kalima Tayyeba: The best demo as usual

wowawewah: Is it supposed to hurt? When it was being done with my hair, I could hear the crackling noise of it cutting and it feeling like it was pulling my scalp.

Lady So Well: Wow, no one ever broke that down like that...thanks!

Cathy Lee Grantham-Schreifels: My hair is very thin and fine. I have a pixie cut growing out. Would it make my hair thicker looking if I have it razor cut?

Lil ScratchNSniff: I'm not an expert but the last way you did it was basically the same as the others when it comes to damage ands scraping off the cuticle this guy's technique is kinda the same as the others...

Lisa Fanucchi: ✂️✂️Your haircut is ON FLEEK

Jaritza Lopez: so now I know how she messed up my hair :/

Krissy: I had to go back and watch this video again because i was distracted by this man's beautiful face! Omg im in love❤❤❤❤❤

Im Estia: im not a barber but why use rasor if its bad for the hair why not simply using a cisorsse? sorry for my english

Bob-Beauty on Board: Thank You Andrew Sir...

serkan demir: Keske turkce dil seçeneği de olsaydi...
