Hey you guys it's toya and thank you for watching. Toyajtv this week is week 12 of the how to stretch your relaxer series and we'll be doing clip-ins, so sit back and enjoy all right. So the first thing i'm going to do is pre-poo my hair. So as of right now, it's completely dry, so i'm just going to jump in the shower, wet it and apply the hair mud mask okay. So what the hair mud mask does is it helps to pre-soften the hair? It contains mud from the dead sea uh which helps to promote hair growth. It helps with dandruff. It helps with conditioning and nourishing the scalp. So we want all of those things. Okay, so i'm gon na be using this first. So i'm gon na go ahead. Jump in the shower and then we'll apply the pre-poo hair mud mask. So at this point i have um jumped out of the shower and my hair is wet. So here we go we're going to go ahead and put the pre-poo on again. There is no shampoo or anything on my hair. I just water, that's it because you want your hair to be wet so that it can absorb the product and versus just sitting on top of the hair. Okay. So i'm just gon na and i'm gon na, and i am normally very generous with the pre-poo okay. So one reason for getting it. You want to get it on your roots, but you also want to make sure that it touches your scalp, because it does help to remove any toxins and impurities from your scalp. Thanks to that mud from the dead sea and also you want to make sure to pay very close attention to your ends. If you are interested in your hair getting longer and you actually keeping and seeing your length, you want to definitely and look i'm scraping. The bottom of this baby tell y'all: i use this stuff, all the time um so anyway, if you want to see your link, you definitely need to make sure that you are saturating your ends. The ends of your hair, because what happens is when you, when you take care of the ends of your hair, they split less faster okay, then they would, if you weren't, because the ends of your hair are the oldest they've, seen the most heat they've seen the Most manipulation they've seen the most chemical. If you have a chemical in your hair, they've seen the most of everything your roots are the newest hair. So it's going to be the healthiest, so it can take like a little bit more heat. It can take a little bit, you know more product. It can take a little bit more because it's new here, it's virgin hair right, but your ends. It'S the elderly, of your hair. We take care of our elderly okay because again, if you don't your ends, will split faster. You will have to cut your hair faster and you'll have to cut your hair more often, and then you'll always feel like your hair is the same length like your hair. Is not growing it's growing but you're always having to cut it, because you're not you're, focusing on the root you're focusing on the growth. Instead of focusing on the length retention, you want to focus on the length retention because your hair is going to grow. That'S not the issue. Your hair is always growing as we're speaking right now your hair is growing, but you want to keep or retain your length. So i'm saturating my ends. You want it from the root all the way to the end. But again you want to saturate the roots, that's the secret! All right, y'all, don't tell nobody is our secret okay, when they ask you girl how you get your hair to grow so long you like girl, i don't know. I just been eating my vegetables. No i'm just kidding, you can tell i'm a secret, but yes, so you definitely want to make sure you are saturating and i'm just using this wide tooth comb to comb it through and comb it through just helps ensure that it gets on every single strand. Okay and the comb, okay, so the pre-poo mud mask it will help you when you're wet combing, but mine really is going through so easily because my hair was already straight and i didn't like manipulate it by shampooing it i just wet it. So you know it's almost like combing through my hair that i just flat out because i did not do really anything to it, but with it, but again your hair, the uh, because the pre-poo is a conditioner. So it will help when combing through your wet hair. But you do want to use a wide tooth comb and you want to comb gently. Do not pull because your hair is more fragile when it's wet, so it can break a little bit faster when it's wet all right and just for gp. We'Re going to add a little bit more to the ends. Okay and then at this point you want to take a plastic cap and y'all already know how to do i'm going to do a plastic bag. I'M going to use my plastic bag and you want to let this sit. If you have a steamer, you can let it steam without plastic, but if you're sitting under a regular dryer, you want to use a plastic cap or a plastic bag. Everybody has a um drawer full of these lord. I still got the receipt in the bag. Oh lord, we don't want the receipt to get a deep condition, so one tip that i have is when you put the plastic cap or bag or whatever plastic, that you're using on try to get all of the air out. When you do that, and you just you see how the air is coming, you want to get all of the air out so that when you um sit under the dryer, you can be using your body heat as well as the heat from the dryer okay. So you want to release you want to release all that air again, you can sit under the dryer like this, but i really don't have time to sit under the dryer. So i'm going to let my body heat do most of the work. So i'm going to add this um on top of my hair and my baby, my son, my 10 year old, actually bought me this for mother's day. I think it was one year and i was like you know your mom so well like he gives me the most thoughtful gifts. You know how most of the time sometimes you'll get gifts from your kids and it's like. Oh, you know just because it's your kid is special, but it's not something that you really would have picked out. No honey, my baby, he gives me gifts like that. I use like all of his stuff that he gives me. I use it so i'll link these there's. Some i'll link um have a link to this on amazon that you can get um this from, but i love this little turban. So if you got a man at home and he you know, you don't want to see him looking at you crazy with the plastic bag. Just put this on top and just be like. Okay, i'm just deep conditioning my hair okay, you know he don't know this place a bag under here. He don't have to know - and sometimes i even sleep like this as a matter of fact um. Sometimes i sleep like this overnight i'll. Let the pre-poo moisturizer sit. I'M going to do that tonight, but not with the pre-poo we'll do that with the because i'm going to deep condition as well, because when you're doing protective styles, you want to get the most out of them. So do the deep conditioning do all the extra stuff? Because that's just going to help your hair even more while you're, protecting, because when you're doing protective styles you're not using any heat you're, not you know, manipulating your hair a lot, so you want to get all the benefits of the pre-poo of the um deep conditioning Of the leave-in of the shampoo of the conditioner, you want to get all the benefits when you're doing a protective style, because that's also going to help your hair grow. You want the hair to grow down your back. You want to know my secrets to how every time you see a video it looks like my hair is getting longer and longer i'm showing you right here, i'm showing you what i do. Okay, so anywho, i'm going to just rinse my brush out. I mean i'm sorry, i rest my comb out because i'm going to also use the same comb to comb the intense moisture treatment out as well. So as of right now, i'm going to let this sit it's dinner time around here. So i'm going to go ahead and start cooking by the time i cook have the food ready eat. You know my husband should be home by the time i get done, sit around and talk to him for a minute, and then you know when it's time to get the kids ready for bed i'll rinse, this out, shampoo, it and we'll be conditioned, and then from That point i'll, just let the conditioner sit overnight and we'll finish this style up tomorrow. Okay, you know, if you don't have that kind of time to be letting stuff sit overnight. That'S fine! What you would do is just simply sit under your dryer at least 35 to 45 minutes, and then you can you're good to go, but your body heat can also do the work of the deep conditioning for you, but it just takes longer. Okay, so i'm gon na let this sit and then i'll come back when it's time to rinse this out shampoo and move on to the next step. Okay! So now, at this point, i'm going to just put the leave-in conditioner in and i'm just using the original collection, um leave-in conditioner remember to get those ends and i'm very generous with this conditioner, because it is very lightweight. So, no matter how much you use your hair will not be weighed down. It'Ll still have that light, fluffy movement and body, and then i'm just using my wide tooth comb to distribute it evenly throughout the hair, because i don't care how generous you are with this leave-in conditioner there's going to be one strand or two that does not get Any on it, so when you comb it through, it helps all of the hair to be conditioned and, as always, i start with the bottom and work my way up and the reason for that is because, if you start at the top and work your way down, You'Re more likely to pull harder and that can result in hair breaking. So when you start at the bottom, you're more likely to be more gentle with the hair, because you're not pulling trying to get that tangle out. But when you start from the bottom and get the tangles out, you don't pull just in case, you ever wondered why you start from the bottom and work your way up. I like to try to explain things to you guys to like help. You understand why? Because you know sometimes you'll see somebody doing something else for their hair and you try to do the exact same thing and then you wonder why it doesn't work for your hair. Well, the reason for that. The reason for that is because, um you don't know what their hair's needs were. So if you try to copy my plan exactly and it doesn't work for your hair and you're like oh well, those products don't work, because i try to do that and you know they do that for my hair. But you can't necessarily go by exactly what i do. You have to understand what your hair needs: okay, so just to break it down and put it simply if i'm, if i'm cold, okay, if i'm cold and you're hot, so you all always see me walking around with a jacket on and you're like. Oh, she looks like she feels really nice, so i'm gon na put on a jacket too, and then you put on a jacket you're already hot, but you put on a jacket and you're wondering why you're not feeling comfortable like me, because you're trying to do what I do instead of listening to your own body's needs. Okay, does that make sense, so you have to listen to your hair's knees if your hair is very oily and you are constantly putting moisture in your hair, that's not what your hair needs, because your hair produces enough oil on its own. So you're wondering why your hair is getting more heavy or getting heavier and heavier because you're not listening to your hair you're, looking at what somebody else is doing, somebody else's hair may be bone dry, so they're constantly moisturizing and you're like oh. Let me constantly moisturize because their hair looks nice, but that's not what your hair needs. Okay, so you have to listen to your own. You have to listen to your hair's cues and i always recommend moisturizing and giving it protein on a regular basis. So your hair does not end up craving something okay, so it's like, if you have a bank account and you're constantly withdrawing and then you're wondering why you're always broke because you're never putting money back in you're, always taking stuff out so like with your hair. If you're constantly taking moisture out by putting heat on it by, you know constantly manipulating it by constantly, you know doing styles that are not protective you're constantly taking things or you're constantly putting chemicals on it, whether it be color relaxing both you're taking out. But if you never replenish your hair, then your hair is going to end up breaking damage, all the above, because you're not replacing what you're taking out. So you have to replace what you're taking out. So, that's why i always recommend deep conditioning and reconstructing on a regular basis, because you're constantly styling your hair, like i style my hair every week and a lot of times i use heat every week and some people are like some people have asked me. So you put heat in your hair every week like how is your hair not broken damaged, because, in addition to putting hair my um heat in my hair every week, i'm also replenishing that back by putting moisture back in the hair, putting protein back in the hair? To strengthen it, i'm doing that on a constant basis every single week, so that anything that's being taken out of my hair is being put back in my hair is not missing anything. So that's what you have to do on a consistent basis. You don't want to just do it when your hair needs it like you don't want to just that's like you only put money in your account when it's overdraft, no, you want to constantly put you know replenishing it, so you can't just put moisture in your hair When it starts breaking at that point, it's too late, like you're, trying to play ketchup, you want to constantly be putting the moisture the treatments, the conditioning you want to be doing that on a regular basis, so that your hair always looks healthy. You don't want to only treat it when it's time to when something is wrong. Okay, so at this point i'm just going to let my hair air dry and then we'll start the braiding process. Okay, so i'm trying to think on which it really doesn't matter. I'M trying to think which protective style i want to do today, because i'm kind of torn between the clip in your part wig and just the clippings, i think we'll do the clippies, because i'm feeling i'm feeling like inches like it's getting cold out. So i need some inches to like cover my neck and stuff right right. Of course that sounds logical, okay, so, instead of doing clippings the traditional way, which is to just let on your hair and then part it and add clippings in between i'm going to show you the different way where i'm actually none of my hair is going to Be out, except for just the part that i need to cover my track, so i'm going to be um braiding my hair completely up and then put the clippings on the braids. So that way i can put as much heat on it as i want to. I can style it as much as i want to all that as much as i want to do, and i'm not touching my hair okay, so that's the secret when you're doing these protective styles, you want something to where your hair is not touched. Okay, you're protecting your hair. So if i were to do clip-ins and you can't do clippings the other way where you go ahead and flatter on your own hair and then just add the pieces in between. But if you want to keep styling that hair, that's not a protective style, because you have to put heat on your hair and your hair is out. Okay, i consider protective styles styles, where your hair is up really. I only consider protective styles braids, sew ins and wigs because, if you're like, i consider a protective style like if i jump in a swimming pool, i can come up out of that water and my hair stick will still be cute. Okay, like my hair, not messed up so like a bun, i don't necessarily consider that a protective style because or like a ponytail. I don't consider that a protective style, because your hair is out. I consider that a non-heat style which are also great because the less heat you use the better, especially if you're, not um, if you don't, if you're, not really sure on how to use heat correctly, then yeah so um. The protective styles i consider when your hair is legit braid it up and none of your hair is out, so that's only really braids and sew-ins, and it and really only wigs if you have your hair braided up or you're, just like it's tied up, some kind Of way where you're not touching your hair at all, like i have just put on a um like, i called my hair all to the back and put on my wig cap and then put the wig on okay, so none of my hair is out like you. Don'T see none of my real hair out, you know um and you can also braid a wig on like all you have to do is braid the perimeter of your head and then you can sew the wig on. If you want to do that, um, that's considered a protective style to me too, but like buns ponytails or just like an updo. I understand we consider that a protective style, because if you were to get it wet, it's a wrap. You know what i'm saying. So i just consider those non-heat styles, which are also cute and they're, also good for the hair, they're still good for the hair, because just just stay away from the large bodies of water, all right. So to all of you who are unsure about how to make your hair look presentable when it's air dry, this is what you do. Okay, i'm giving you the secrets right here: use the whipped honey foam, wrap, apply the whip, honey, foam, wrap to your edges and to your roots aka. The part that you want laid down roots and edges apply that step two calm it down all right, calm it down and i'm actually going to kind of comb it behind my ears because step three tie it up with your bio jones, 100 set scarf, preferably clean. Okay, i'm gon na use my black one. I need to watch that other one tie your hair down tight and literally that's all you do. Okay, so you let it tie it down until it dries. If you don't have that kind of time, and you need to like put some heat on your hair, you can still tie it down like this. Let it stay for at least 30 minutes or even if you sit under the dryer sit under the dryer like this. For at least 30 minutes then take it off and let the rest of your hair, dry and it'll still do the same thing, but i have that kind of time. So i'm going to basically you're going to let this hang okay. When you, let that, hang you just leave it alone after you leave it alone, and it dries your hair will be laid down and if you, okay in the key, the key, the key to your hair, not putting back up, do not touch it. Let it air dry on its own, don't touch it if you're constantly touching it trying to see if it's dry, it's gon na pop back up on. You do not do that. If you have a hard time, not touching your hair, put on a bonnet on top of this put on your body, but if you put on a bonnet, it's gon na take longer for it to dry, because it's not getting a bunch of air. Because you have your bonnet on, but if you have a hard time, letting it dry put your bonnet on and you're, probably just going to have to, however long it takes for it to dry. That'S how long it takes it may take you a full day. If you have a bonnet and this on okay, so when i come back, you'll see the results, but that's all i do put the whipped honey phone wrap on it. Comb it down, tie it up. That'S it all right! So when i come back, we will braid it up and go ahead and style it. So now i need to go ahead and prep the hair. If you did like, i advised you try to air dry. Your hair, we're gon na i'm gon na. Show you how it's supposed to turn out: okay, voila, you see how it's laying down now, of course, the ends are, you know not very neat per se, but that's just because i just let them hang they weren't curled or anything so, but i can still come Straight through it with my wide tooth comb, which is fine, my hair is exactly how i need it and it smells amazing. I just love the smell of by elle jones products on my hair, all right. So at this point i'm going to go ahead and start braiding, so what i'm going to do? First, we've decided on clippings by the way. Okay, so you know when i first started doing these videos, i knew i was going to do a protective style, but i couldn't determine or i couldn't decide if i was going to do the u-part wig first or the clip-ins first, but i think i'm going to Go ahead and do the clip-ins first okay, so the only part of my hair that i want out is the part and just enough hair to cover it. So i'm just going to okay, so this hair right here is the only thing that's going to be left out because again i just need to cover. So i'm just going to get this hair out of the way all right. So now i'm going to start braiding. So now that we have it completely braided, this is like i said this is all this out just enough to cover the track. So it's very important that when you have your hair braided up in protective styling, you still want to keep it moisturized by the way that braiding took a lot out of me. I mean, after i did this one. My arms were already tired from holding my arms up like this. So, needless to say, i'm just giving y'all a heads up that i may go ahead and keep these braids for two weeks and all i'll do is just switch out. The hair just throw my viewport clip-on uh wig on on top of this for next week and call it a day. I think that's what i'm going to do so, i'm just giving y'all a heads up, because that was a lot of work. Okay, so anywho um! It'S very important that you want to keep your keep protecting your hair, even while it's braided. So while it's braided i'm going to take advantage of it and i'm going to put the silky growth oil on my scalp and it's very easy to do. When you have braids, because literally all you do is put it where you have parted and this silky growth oils feels amazing, it literally feels like a little mini massage on my scalp and what this does is. It helps to facilitate hair growth because it helps to stimulate um the scalp okay, so when your scalp is stimulated, that increases blood flow and increased blood flow in your scalp leads to faster growth. Okay. So when you hear somebody saying it increases your um, it increases your blood flow. Basically, what that means is it will help your hair grow faster, okay, so this um is the silky growth oil from the by elle jones line. It'S a combination of nine different oils that all help to facilitate hair, faster hair growth. They help with flaking inflammation a lot of problems that you may have with your scalp. All that all helps because it has different oils combined into one. It'S not just one oil that does one thing: it's like nine different oils that are working together and they all are working towards the common goal of getting your hair healthier. So now that i have that done, i am also going to take it a step further and use my cooling hair, mister, okay, the cooling hair mister comes in the purple bottle um. If you order this, though the labels look way better than this now. This is just the white and purple, but now they're, all like they're, pretty they're prettier, okay. So anyway, what this does is it has um oils in it as well, but it this helps to cool your scalp. You know how, when your scalp goes, the itching when you have it braided this helps to prevent that, and it helps to stop that and it just makes your scalp feel amazing when you spray it on. So i'm going to spray this on my hair as well. I take this with me every time we go on vacation. I take this with me. You know, especially if we're going to a beach and like i get my hair braided. Like the last time we went out of town, i had got box braids, and i took that with me and it was so hot and every time i spread that on my hair it was just refreshing to my soul. I was so happy that i took it because - and actually i was just i hadn't - even began selling it. Yet i was just i'm kind of testing it out. I had made a product that i thought would work and i was testing it out and i, when i got back, i was like yeah. This is a hit because it made my scalp feel so good while on vacation, especially in those hot months and cool. That'S why it's called the cooling hair mister. It provides a crisp cool feeling to your hair um. It helps your scalp. It helps your hair to stay moisturized and it helps to um, prevent and stop itching okay. So you ain't just hitting your head. You know so now that i have that out of the way and also what you can also do like. If you decide to do your hair like this and do clip-ins, then you can also keep it moisturized by applying um leave-in conditioner throughout the week as well. Directly to your hair that way, especially as you know, since i just mentioned that i'm going to probably have this up in two weeks, meaning i'm not going to be shampooing, but i still want to keep the moisture. Then i would continue to use the growth oil which the growth oil is not a moisturizer. It'S just sealing the moisture that you already have in your hair, in addition to helping your scalp, but the leave-in conditioner will continue to moisturize your hair and the cooling hair. Mister will also moisturize your hair and the leave-in provides the ultimate moisture to your hair. So those three things are the three things that you definitely want to use. If you have your hair braided up to keep moisture in your hair. So that way, when you take your hair down, you don't see any excessive breakage, you don't see any um, you know premature shedding, and everything is all good in the hood. Okay, so now we'll go ahead and do the fun part which is install the clip-ins okay. So before i get started um i am going to be using clip-ins from the ella jones hair collection and i am using two of the packs. So basically one of these - i don't like to say the word packs, but i don't know what else to call like. All the clippings together, they i'm using two of these because one of them, one of the packs, is basically like one bundle of hair okay, so i'm gon na be using two, so that should be enough and they're already sectioned out. Some of them are longer, some of them are shorter, so, and i shampoo these before i shampoo them and condition them with the by elle jones, braising extension collection. I love to i like to shampoo my hair or i use it. So that's why i'm doing that. So i am just sorting these out and they're different lengths so like these are good because they go in the very back. You know on the very back of the nape they're not too wide, and then the wider ones can go across like around. Here and again i got two of the i'm using two of them, so if you want to, if you get these, if you just get one bundle of them, that's like one bundle of hair. If you get two, that's like two bundles of hair, so you're kind of just putting sporadic pieces in between your hair, like if you wear your hair all down and you just put sporadic pieces in between you may only need one. But since i basically need a full head and full coverage, i'm using two, so here we go do so. I love how this came out. You guys so be sure to. Let me know what you think in the comments and also don't forget to subscribe to the channel, and i will see you guys next time. This is week, 12. see y'all later bye. You
