Laceless or laces one of the questions we get the most send us around whether you should get a boot with laces or one that's laceless, or simply make your own. So today, i'll go over the benefits and the drawbacks of having a laceless or a laced up boot. So you guys know what or what not to get, depending on your preferences and also i'm gon na explain while pulling the laces out of the boots that i made with laces in order to make a cheaper alternative to a laceless. Boot is a gigantic no-go so to make everything as easy to understand and comparable as possible. I'M going to take a look at the adidas predator, mutated 20 boots, which comes in both the 20 plus the laceless version and in the late stop loca 20.1 and the high cut 20.1, and to back up my claim from just before. I'Ve actually made a do-it-yourself laceless version out of my 20 point ones, simply by pulling the laces out and that's it, which is something by the way that you shouldn't do but more on that later. So, let's start with laces the traditional way of doing things, which kind of makes sense, because it just works and also having laces comes with a clear couple of benefits, the first one being to get better lock down, see when you have a lacing system. On top of the foot, it also means that when you pull it tight, you also kind of drag the upper around the top of the footwear wraps. The foot and kind of pushes it down on the outsole, and that means that it helps to prevent the foot moving a little bit better and also, if you pull it tight around the ankle, it helps pushing the boot towards and inside the heel counter again to Hold it a little bit more firmly in place to eliminate that movement inside of the boot, and all of this is to you and me at least what translates into having good lockdown. Secondly, laces mean that you get personal, adjustability and customization options and basically you can tie the laces to match your foot shape or your general preferences. So you can really pull your laces tight in case. You want a very close and snug fit with a really strong amount of lockdown, or you can loosen them up a little bit if you have a foot shape. That requires a bit more space inside of the boot or simply, if you want a slightly more relaxed fit, and here the word customization is the key, because you can basically have the amount of hold or the amount of width or in general, just the fit that You want to match your foot shape or your general preference put it differently. You can actually, with laces, make the boots match your foot shape and not the other way around, which is great if the boot isn't the perfect match straight out of the box. In that case, you want your laces now. Another big benefit is, of course, the fact that boots with laces are often quite a lot cheaper than laces boots are, and that's got to come for something too. However, it's also cheaper for a reason, because this is not just the laceless version with a few lace holes in it and laser slapped on top. That would be really awesome, but sadly that's not the case, because adidas have of course used different materials and a cheaper execution when they made this to well make ends meet. And for someone like me, who really prefer to use laces. Well, it sucks, because i kind of want the best of both worlds, and i can't have it, but that's kind of the trade-off you have to make in 2020. It is what it is now. Some people might also say that it's a drawback that you have lasers, because they're kind of in the way, if you strike the ball with your instep, and you could also argue that having laces looks a little bit less clean on the boot. Compared to. If you don't, but i think that kind of comes down to your preferences and what you like a football boot to look like what i will say, though, is that, if you're in doubt whether you should go laces or lace, less well, take the laces, because it's Try to trust it and you can always adjust it to the shape of your foot. So, as you may know, laces football boots were first introduced in 2006 in the shape of the lotto shiro gravity, but then really exploded onto the scene. 10 years later, with the introduction of the adidas a16 plus pure control and the concept behind alesis football boot is to well first of all, remove the laces duh, but then also to engineer the boot. So it is a little bit tighter in the mid foot around the tongue area and in the heel to make up for the lack of lockdown that you get, because you took away the laces that you usually provide said lockdown, but also the concept behind having a Laceless boot is to give you that really clean and very one-to-one sensation, because you have a clean, striking surface and that's to make the feeling on the ball a little bit more natural and speaking of a natural feeling. Laceless boots also tends to give you a slightly more, should we say uniform sensation and interaction between the boot and the foot. To give you that really natural feel when you finally put them on, and i'm speaking for myself here, but there's also just the fact that the cleaner and sleeker look of the laceless boot tends to fill me at least with confidence. When i look down because it just looks that little bit extra special - maybe it's just me, however, despite their best efforts, the lack of laces also means that laces football boots have less lockdown than football boots that have laces, and that's because of this here often elasticated Tongue piece sitting on top of the boot that basically allows you to get your foot inside of the boot because it has to stretch so you can get in, and then it has to compress to give you the amount of lockdown from the top that you need. In order for the boot to feel as good as you want it to, and this sort of flexibility on top of the boot means that your foot is allowed to move a little bit more inside of it because it doesn't get the amount of holes from up Top that you get in a football boot with laces, then of course there's also the fact that you don't have laces, so the board is gon na, be a little bit harder to adjust whether it's too tight or a little bit too loose. So if there's too much space inside of it well, you can wear another pair of socks, but there's nothing else. You can do so. You can say that it's a little bit of a one shape fits all and if your foot shape doesn't match that off the boot. Well, things are gon na get interesting. Of course, there's also the drawback that, as i mentioned, laceless boots are more expensive. On the other hand, as i said, you also get that really latest high innovative tech. So yeah that's up to you to figure out what you want, but if you want that super sleek really one-to-one sensation with the latest, most awesome, coolest tech out there, a laser boot, isn't a bad option and to be fair to adidas they're, getting better and better. At nailing the fit and making, i would say, decent lockdown, but hey what? If you want the laceless football boot, but you don't want to pay for it. Well, some genius might suggest that you buy the laced up version 20.1 and you pull out the laces save 60 euros everyone's happy right. Well, no see! The thing is that laceless football boots are built to be laceless, meaning that the uppers have been engineered. So you get all the stability and the structure and reinforcement that you need through the upper itself, whereas normally in a laced up version, you get the lockdown from the laces, meaning that you don't need that extra reinforcement in the upper. So when you take out the laces in the 20.1, well you don't have anything. You don't have the reinforcement from the upper you don't have to lock down from your laces. So it's just going to be a loose, really weirdly, fitting boot that you can't adjust to fit in and just just don't do it. It might look cool. It might save you some money, but it's going to perform not very well. So if you really want a laces pair of football boots to save up the extra money and go for boot, that's actually built to give you what you want it's much better so now that i've admittedly talked quite a lot about the different options here. Let me help you out and make a very quick overview, so football boots with lasers are really nice because they give you good lockdown, good, adjustability, a traditional fit and they're often cheaper than the laceless options. However, on the other side, the laces might be in the way to some people, and also you won't get the same awesome, materials and engineering process, as you will on the plus laceless models. Now the laceless concept is really cool, because it gives you a really clean, uninterrupted, striking surface. You get a very unique one-to-one sensation and the fit they look really cool. That'S a plus too, and also you get all the latest tech and innovation crammed inside of the boot, but on the flip side. Well, it's more expensive than a boot with laces and also the lock down and the adjustability is going to suffer. Finally, there is the do-it-yourself version where you take the laces out of a 20.1 version with laces and that's cool, because you get the look and feel of a laceless football boot, but the lockdown, the adjustability and the general fit is just gon na suck. So you should avoid it at all costs, but guys, if you're still in doubt, well don't do this at least that's for sure, but if you're still stuck between getting a laceless boot or one with laces, it sounds to me like you should, at least for now Stay with the safe option, which is to get a boot with laces because it has the adjustability and it just works with that said, the laces football boots are getting better and better at nailing down the fit and the lockdown, and, as we saw with the x, Goes to plus here well, the lockdown is at a point where i'm not too mad about playing in it, because it's not as good but they're getting there and they're gon na get there in the future. I think, but no matter, if you want a laceless or football boot with lasers, you can get everything all the different versions on unisports.com right over there, but before you go there to buy a pair. Tell me what you prefer in the comment section right down below and don't forget to go subscribe to the channel with the notifications on with that said, guys i'll be signing off. Cheerio

MemeLordWeekly: I switched from laces to laceless last year and I have to say, I have improved so much. IMO it adds more curve to the ball and feels a lot more natural. I also get a lot more precision as the laces aren’t in the way and I can have a clean strike. So I definitely recommend saving up a bit more money to get laceless boots.

Brian Okazaki: Laces for me. I liked the Copa 19+, but there's something about being locked in with laces (bonus if there is flywire) that just feels better.

Supplanter_J: See I’m very tempted by laceless boots because of the more natural feel but I definitely think for an actual match I’d end up returning to laced boots as I need the lockdown more than the natural feel as a defender who would rarely benefit from the laceless interaction over the tight, adjusted and powerful feel that you get with regular laced boots

juandri mizell: Thanks for the options Jay., But laces beat laceless for overall performances

Kuntum Anurag: Honestly i love the idea of laceless boots and when the tech arrives that it can match the lockdown of laces, im laces all the way cuz u cant get the same snugness or lockdown

Frogturtle xd: I really, REALLY wanted to get the X ghosted +, they are gorgeous boots and have the awesome carbitex insert, but the drawbacks of laceless boots are still too present for me. I don't want any risk of slippage due to lack of lockdown. I went with the Mercurial Vapor 13 Elites just because they offered an insane speed boot design (probably still the best) while still having laces. The laced X Ghosted .1 seem like a close competitor, but I think they look boring and they have less grip on the ball since they don't have a knitted upper. I think the day for laceless will come but it ain't here yet in my opinion.

Grant_: I love to have customization with my laces, so far the puma 4.1 is my favorite because of the net fit system.

KingOfParkourShow HD: I have been now training without laces in adidas predators for a month and I didnt have any problems with stability,I took out the laces only because they were always untied because of the bad material.

Mann Siu: Laceless boots not completely to hold the heel at perfect tightly, it had a very slightly a bit lose tension to hold at the part of heel in some kind of motion for my experience. Except X18+, it was pretty good I’ve tried.

Sensable Sagittarius: I prefer laces due to its advantage in adjustability in comparison to laceless. All in all my gratitude for clearing my head between the 2 unique boots and there ad/ disadvantages.

TheAceHavin: The feeling of lacing up boots is unmatched

Gerry Shom: The feeling of going down on your knees and fastening your laces before the game is practically a pre game ritual for most people, like me But laceless cleats look so good, stylish and modern. It's really a matter of preference.

Miles Palma Gross: Laces for sure. There’s something about tying up just before the whistle that hits different.

ruben79670: for everyone in doubt watching this video... I've always played with predators with size 42 2/3 or 43 1/3. Depending on what felt best with a certain predator model. I was thinking about ordering the laceless version and eventually took the risk, but i ordered size 42 instead of my normal sizes and honestly, i've never been so happy. The boots feel amazing. And it gives me absolutely enough lockdown. Not saying laces are bad and laceless is better. Just here for everyone who's in doubt of trying laceless.

Liam K: I feel like when you get laceless you want to get a size to small for you usually so it’s still secure because you can’t tighten it.

Southern Coconut: I have used laced and laceless boots and I find that a lot of my laced boots tend to come undone when I get stepped on by others. But when I have laceless boots it just feels a lot more precise to shoot and just feels better on my foot. the only complaint I have is that I have had my laceless boots come off of my foot completely in the middle of a match due to being "flat tired" if you know what I mean. honestly I think it is just up to preference. but all boots are worth a shot in my eyes!

Goro Sees All: I got the laceless Predator+ and they are amazing, great fit and they look sick . Oh and with grip socks they fit is even better x10000

Roxxas Fromer: I usually get the .3 version of any soccer cleats , since they feel balanced to me

Lee Holliday: okay, i got the cheapest version of the predator 20's for Christmas to start out football and the other day the material ripped and the laces fell out so i have decided to try the laceless do it yourself option not out of choice but out of having to. I prefer the tightness of the laces but the boot feels lighter and more nimble.

Julius Thiyam: I prefer laceless boots cause lockdown will be decent and it has all the latest tech and it looks good.

anupam singh: I bought adiddas Predator freak.3 and it comes tight for my feet so i decided to took out the laces believe me guys it worked for me and also my boot became laceless now..

ziad: i prefer laceless bcz i love training and running with only my socks so it gives me the same feel

Johimar Osorio: My gf got me the 20.1 for Christmas she’s a keeper

Charly Omega: I 100% prefer laces, laceless are way too tight for me and I feel like i have less control and power with them on

Mario Alejandro: No point in getting laceless boots when you can’t use SR4U laces to have the ultimate football boot!!!

ICx2: Opinions on phantom ghost lace? Adjustable to your foot with laces. But not in the way as you tuck the lace under the fabric

Tyreese: That Juventus kit and those predators make a perfect combo It seems like something Paulo Dybala would look perfect in

Tejal Bhatt: Just admit it that we all have tried to make our studs fancy like Jay... I tried it and got too impatient... now my COPA are literally trash

Ezra Mugabi: i feel like every football player has watched unisport

Vasu Sharma: i prefer the adidas predaor 20+ and copa20+ over any other as my feet are wider then other i mean very wide so i don't have lockdown issue with any boot and the boot that isn't nice in lockdown feels nce to my feet . i tried the x ghosted + but they were not pleasant enough to my feet.

Armağan Özkan: I had some prejudices about laceless boots and for me they were very useless and senseless. I was thinking that it was just to look slick and look cocky. However then I tried very first nemesis' laceless version and it's the best boot I could ever get I think. Luckily, it fits my feet too and I am in love with them.

Ethan Tran: I started using my mercurial football boots but it was very tight. So I decided to take out the laces and it fits so much better. So I think it’s fine if u take the laces out if it fits very well. They are only Astro turf boots

McDonalds: I actually use and prefer laces because it makes the boots fit my leg better and I can adjust the fit until I am comfy

Unisport: So let's settle this once and for all; *LACELESS* or *LACES?* ‍♂️ /Jay

Sahil Kulkarni: i am going with laceless.......those look soo dope

Bilal Althaf: I remove all my laces It helps me control better and reduces stiffness of the boot

41 SUDIP SARKI: If someone wants awesome and the latest engineering model with laced up boots they would simply go for the Nike Mercurials

Ruben van Rensburg: For me personally I prefer to have the support of laces rather than a better look without them...

ziad 2000: I just bought a new nemeziz 18.3 with laces but I think I’m going to remove them because the boot is already so tight

Dhrrishit Shahi: They should add lace holes in laceless boots and then give us a review about it

Zin: You should try putting laces in a pair of laceless boots to see how well it works.

Zin: You should try putting laces in a pair of laceless boots to see how well it works.

Caden’s Gaming Channel: Laces all the way when I tie me headband and my boots it just Makes me feel like I’m ready to play

PUSPAL EDITS: Unisport, you are the best ❤️❤️, lots of love and support from India

Mars The Pro: Always go for the cheaper one. Im not gonna pay 60 bucks just to save the 5 seconds for tying laces

Job SQUAD: Always use laces for anything like this. Laceless is fine for everyday shoes

MiggyMxG Gaming: I went to the unisport website and was looking for the size charts for the vapor and phantom gt but couldn’t find them anywhere! Did they get taken down?

Jamie Mcgeoghan: I took the laces outa my puma future 4.1s and it feels alot better without laces

Aaron Kumar: Would you recommend wearing the predator 20.1 on turf

Tom Woodall: The predators on the Adidas store are cheaper than on unisport tho

Mr Say168: I pray who ever reads this becomes successful ...

ArchieDG: i have been looking at football boots but the only good looking ones in my price range are the puma finesses, are they good football boots?

XO: I got the same boots in adidas store with lace for 32 dollars!

Sam Forster ahah: I prefer laces as I have a weirdly shaped foot and like my boots right so defo prefer laces however if you are playing in too small boots maybe try with the laces out

Cloudy: i have the Copa 20+ and im scared to grow out of them because they are better than laces version

Jairo Castro: i wanna have soccer drip like jay his equipment choices are the best

Ivan Torres: I love Unisport, but everytime they do these type of videos they always tell you at the end to buy or wear whatever you like and feel more confortable with. :(

Eazy Stan: I prefer laceless Adidas X Ghosted 19+.

Bevan Mathew: i would prefer the laceless at present due to the many factors of buying a new boot .

Cronal: what if you want a higher quality (as mentioned in the video laceless have higher quality materials) so you you buy a laceless boot but then since you prefer laces you drill holes and put in some laces lol

RatSmacker69: Pro tip for beginners: put a banana peel in your boot so when you slip you have an excuse for being a new player

Audie Afham: How can you invest in SR4U laces if your boots have no laces?!?

Nevin Thomas Mathew: Hey jay which is your favorite football boots all time Do a video of your most favorite boot❤

Flying Zayan: After a long time I am watching your video but I still love your videos

Edwin: What are the best boots for medium footed people ?

MFF Samu: I prefer lacless abd you cant rlly change my mind

Alex Newman: I wish adidas would just put laces in the + models, so much more people would buy them, I know I would

zFuri: He said he wants to have to best of both worlds when clearly he can just get some sort of new mercurial bc Nike has literally NO laceless boots or some puma boot

Arlen Ferrer: i prefer lace less football boot it feels way nicer than laces

Vô Danh: I used some laceless before, but I can not fit in Predator 19.3. Anyone has some problem? My size is 42.

Bob Gogoi: when will unisport start delivering to India...

Kasper Marcher: I never understood this argument of the laces hindering your shooting ability.. Did Van Basten have lacesless boots? Or Guillit? Ronaldinho? Gunnar Gren? Gunnar Nordahl? Nils Liedholm? And those were some of the best strikers to ever play football. I respect you if you want to wear laceless for comfort or "just cause you want to" but dont blame your shot on it.

Stefano de Palo: What about a BOA ratchet system with hidden wires and the ratchet at the back behind the heal. I think it's been done somehow.

Nanda Kumar: The presents of laces gives us confidence

Akram Ahmed: I like the laces high cut 20.1

Meet Sidhu: I just bought the chilli red mercurial vapor do u guys think I made the right choice

Ground Ed: I made that mistake and now I will purchase real laceless boots

Elizabeth Greasley: This is great!!

SerialCode: I'm just looking behind you and wishing I had even a single pair of boots since I don't have any

lordenock: Laced boots are better because if someone wants to make their cleats tighter they have that option with laced boots without laces its hard to do that and you have to find a lace less boot that fits just right.

luke: Can you make a Video about goalie gloves pls❤

ProunderOnYT: lets all be honest your brough laceless one because you couldn't tie the lace one

Stephen Cotter: Can you please do a video of thick or thin boots

Ali Mohamed: I have the same shoes but they get dirty easily how do I clean them

legend: Laces shoes are always the best .....past many years laces is the only options that didn't created any problems so there is no disadvantages of laces .... unnecessary things im this video
