Specialized S-Works Shoe Boa Lace Cleaning

Maintaining the Boa Lacing System at least once a season is a good idea. Here I show you my technique.

UPDATE Note: My Cleaning methods did not cure the slipping ratchet mechanism. I feel that I need to replace the unit.

Hey there in here with my specialized s-works cycling shoes, I'm going to show you a quick tutorial on how I am going to maintain the BOA system, the lacing system of these shoes, and I recently experienced the upper lacing system on my right shoe. I was able to tighten it, but it wouldn't stay tightened it would. It would loosen up, as I would pedal on the bike and what I decided to do was instead of buying, and this is a replacement system. I replaced about a year and a half or two years ago, so rather than buying a whole new system, I thought about taking these apart and actually maintaining them, and I'm gon na show you what I'm gon na be doing here in this video okay. First, up here is to take off the back to the ratcheting portion of the shoe, and you got to get a special screw driver to do. This is the special screw driver they send with the replacement boa system, so take the screw off, and this just kind of comes straight off like this, and we got that right there. Now I have a little baby screwdriver here that I'm going to just put underneath here and pop this up and there we go and see we have these. We have these Paul's one two three Paul's on this portion here that ride in these grooves. So what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na take I'm gon na take a q-tip and I'm gon na soak it in just a little bit of simple green, cleaner that I use for my bike and I'm just gon na run it along the inside cleaning Off any of the dirt that's collected in there, you know you ride outside in a rainstorm dirt gets everywhere, including your shoes and probably doesn't help the function of this. I'M also gon na clean the little Paul themselves, even though they look pretty good. They look nice and shiny, I'm gon na take the other end the dry end of this q-tip. I just sort of try to scrape away and dry the inside all right and that's pretty much it push it right back in there good put the top back on and then just put the screw back in

Derrick Budden: Where did you get the replacement Boa parts and do you remember what the model number was? My shoes are doing the same but I think they are far beyond a simple cleaning. (they've been doing it for years)

Darren riley: I have the exact same shoe and the same problem but need to replace boa system , what type of boa system did you purchae , thanks in advance
