This topic, where the natural head people love the natural hair. I think not enough, because if you really love something about yourself, you wouldn't cover it up. You would flaunt it smooth show the world that hey hi, guys welcome back to my channel. My name is Judy down, so stick around see if you like my videos, if you also like the videos, please don't forget to like, subscribe and share it as well. So today I want to talk about the topic whether natural hair people love their natural hair. This might sound a bit like, oh, but I really want to talk about this because it has been bothering me for a while and something really triggered it last week. So that's why I really want to talk about this, and I really want your opinion on that, especially the people that have natural hair. I really want you to listen to this video today, because I really want to hear your thoughts on this so stay tuned. So why do I really want to talk about it stuff? To be honest, I always want to talk about this, but I was like ok. How will I bring this? You know what, like last week, something happened right and that has actually really triggered me to actually record this video and I'll. Tell you what happened. So I don't know if you guys know the actress called Lupita Nyong'o she's, an actress one of the things that we know about her is that she really embraces her. You know her African heritage and she does it all the way to her glam line like she really embraces her natural hair, full run of reds. She actually posted something on social media right. So what has happened is she did a cover shoot a very big magazine. They actually photoshopped her hair, so she has grown her natural hair, so she can actually put it in a bun, and I think she made some pictures where she actually had her hair in a bun. So well yeah. You know how natural hair is. What lot of coils it's kinky and what they did is that they photoshopped her her bun to look like she doesn't have a bun at all, and I think it's a really really good and bold decision of her to come on social media and actually to talk About it like how this is so not as acceptable - and I think it's very professional of her and very very bold of her to actually come forward and to address this - that this is not okay. When I read this post of her, I got really angry and I got really upset, like literally, she is being featured on a cover of a magazine. We need more diversity on the covers of glossy magazines and it's such a big deal. You know and then for them to actually Photoshop her hair's like like what is going on. So, yes, you can feature her, but not the like the real her or like not a hundred percent of her like according to their beauty standards. It'S just ridiculous and made me think, and I was like do you: natural hair people actually love their natural hair. This is a question that I want all the natural haired people that are watching this video to really answer in the comment section, because if you want my honest opinion, listen up so my honest opinion on that question. Whether Natura had people love their natural hair. In my opinion, I think no or not enough, and the reason why I'm saying this is because I just don't see a lot of representation of natural haired people flaunting their natural hair. To be honest, can you name top celebrity right now? You know the celebrity. That is hot at the moment. I cannot charge or has been in a blockbuster movie. That is really boldly embracing their natural hair, on red carpets and on award shows. Can you name some and if you can name some, it's just a few, isn't it and it's just that does interpreting that is the problem there. There aren't a lot of celebrities out there. You know really flaunted and embracing their natural hair like if they are not even doing that if they are not even showing, then yes, we do love our natural hair. Why would glossy magazines with a certain beauty standards that that they have hold so long long? Why would they a set natural hair and be like? Oh yeah? That'S fine! That'S gorgeous! Let'S just feature that in a magazine or on a cover of a magazine. If we natural had people, we don't really give a damn about it like we have it, but it's like okay, let's just cover it up as much as possible, so we can fit into those beauty standards that has been created in the Western world, which is sad And the same goes to top influencers bloggers out there when I go on social media right - and I see all those instagramers that I have like million likes or like thousands of comments and that are dark skins I mean most of them are just wearing away, like Literally, a lot of them most of them are wearing wigs. We are talking about it at the latest, wig frontals, we're dying our hair now like to the blog the shade. We want it as slick as possible. We run it as straight as possible glossy as possible, like everything that is not comparable to our natural hair. We want that. So what are we actually saying by you know wearing a lot of wigs. Don'T get me wrong here. I'Ve been wearing wigs for a long time right, I haven't always been natural yeah. I don't have anything against wigs. I would wear a wig tomorrow if I want to. But the point is, the point is not us wearing wigs. The point is actually us wearing wigs. Every single day, as soon as we step out of our homes, we have to have that wig on, otherwise we don't feel sexy. We don't feel comfortable that we don't feel feminine, we don't feel professional and so on and so on. The list goes on and on and on, and I'm like if we feel that way that we need wigs and that we need to invest so much money in buying wigs, instead of investing so much money to take care of this here, like what are we saying, We are actually saying that, yes, we do love our natural hair, but we prefer wigs more. That'S what that's what we are saying. I mean that's how I see it like if we always are wearing wigs and we are not confident confident enough to post a beautiful, badass selfie on Instagram without our wigs off showing that look. We do yes, we rocking those wigs, but we can rock our natural hairs too. I think we are just fitting into the beauty standards that that industry have been creating for years and we want to actually fit in in order to feel beautiful in order to feel sexy in order to feel confidence and to me for me, that's just sad. Yes, there are celebrities out there and I'm really happy that you know you have celebrities out there that the majority of the time they will be rocking their natural hair. I mean look at the launch right now. She is like fully embracing her natural hair, her heritage through music, through visuals, through social media through her lyrics, like everything and that's so strong, and it's so powerful. Besides her, you have also like teenage actress. Amandla Stenberg, who has also be on Team, will flaunting her natural hair. Yes, Tracee Ellis Ross, also rocking her natural as much as possible on red carpets. We need more of them. You know embracing their natural hair. The same goes for influences. She have influences out there that are really embracing their natural hair, like American bloggers simply send her natural hair is gorgeous and she like, I have never seen her wearing away and her hair. She rocks it. She absolutely rocks it. You have UK blogger, Freddie Harrell, who also really embraces natural hair. I mean she is wearing a wig, but she makes sure that she is representing the afro. You know the bigger the better and she also has launched her hair line, where people with natural hair can actually go for extensions if they want. If they want a little bit of length, we need to embrace our natural hair as much as possible and not give it the reason that all protective hairstyle like our hair, doesn't need to be covered up. So if that's the answer for oh, you know grabbing your wig just to protect your hair. I think that's just nonsense. I mean yes, of course, sometimes you can do protective hairstyles to let it rest for a bit, but if you're living in Europe, where ten months of the twelve months it's freaking winter, so then I won't be able to actually wear my natural hair. If, if that's what we are saying with protective hairstyle, that's just like ridiculous. I mean why, wouldn't we invest time doing research online about like nutritious to get into our body that actually stimulates hair growth, oils that we need or oil treatments? Also, if we need a little bit of boots, look into which supplements that we can get to actually boosts hair growth and thickness like biotin and stuff, I mean actually all the money that we are investing in getting the latest wigs are there. Why not invest that money into actually growing your natural hair, beautiful, strong and pretty as possible? You know: are you actually investing money into getting your hair healthy, like the money, you would invest in a wig? Are you actually investing that marching your natural hair? If the answer is no, then there you go, I mean natural hair also needs care. You know it's not like. Oh just leave it on and you expect it to be beautiful, the most beautiful Accra out there. It will need a trim from time to time. It will need a treatment from time to time, masks and so on, not so on, but you really need to understand your hair get to know your hair. What works? What doesn't it? You know? I have days where my natural hair, it looks like literally it looks so bad, but I'm like you know it is what it is. We all have bad hair. We just go about. I'Ve had comments at work even that, if I think about it, I just cringe, but I'm like you know I could come home and then grab my wig and say: okay, you know those comments were oh, I cannot deal with them tomorrow, I'm wearing a wig. Instead of that, I was like no, I want them to see this natural hair as much as possible. I want to shove it in that truth, like this is my hair. Where do you like it? Where do you prefer the hang, the wigs? I don't care. This is my hair, so this is what you're gon na see most of the times and the more you're you're you're. Confident with your hair trust me, it makes a change. It makes a change to how people actually see natural hair and I've seen it changed. Even at work, people that were giving comments that you think what are you like? What are you talking about? I'Ve seen them actually loving the natural hair and giving comments like oh wow, it looks you know they need to be exposed to that. More often, that's what it's all about, so, if I'm going to cover it, cover it up with wigs the whole time, I'm not making a point. The point I'm making is actually that I don't really like my natural hair and I prefer to have silky straight slicked. Hair - that is just far from what my actual texture is like to actually feel good, and to me that sad and that I think that is the problem. We have to work on that problem overall. To conclude about this topic, where the natural haired people love the natural hair, I think not enough, because if you really love something about yourself, you wouldn't cover it up. You will flaunted. You wish the world that Hey look at this look at me. Look at me here, I'm really curious about what you think. I'Ve been talking a lot. I know some people wouldn't agree with me here, but that's fine. We all have right to our opinions, but I want natural head people to comment under this section. If you are wearing your wig, why you we're awake and if you wear a wig more than you wear your natural hair? Why is that was the reason behind it? I really want to hear your story, your opinion, so yeah join the conversation. If you like, this, video, also don't forget to subscribe, that will really help me and I'll see you guys next time in the next video bye,

AYOLOVE PHAT: I love my natural hair like crazy! This is how GOD created me! In a way I don't have a choice actually. This is the only ornament I got. I don't give a frock what anybody thinks point blank period.

Corrine Amoah: ok i agree with you to a point i can only talk for my self. I loooooveeee my natural hair dont get that wrong am all in for being natural and loving your natural self. i wear wigs because it actually is my protective hairstyle at the moment. I loved braids i practically did braids my whole life until to damaged my hair and am trying to grow my hair back, so my hair is actually not were i want it to be but it will get there so i use wigs to create that natural look i get people arguing with me thinking the wig is my hair i try it keep it natural as possible. i dont do all these straight hair its not me I understand the media wants black women to look a certain way but things will change its a gradual progress.

Lisa Essien: I agree with you...the wigs are becoming too much....I know the whole story about protective style but when a protective style never ends is not protecting anything..

Toyskram: Hi . I just finished watching the video . I think you did a great job. very Brave of you to tackle this topic.

coolingwinds: Celebrities aside, I would even pose the question to the everyday woman. Because, they are influencers true but they also derive they’re inspiration from us. So let me take it personal. It took a long time for me to embrace my hair. In my 40’s I noticed hair loss from years of abuse. I always had thick long hair, but no more. Social conformity is so strong, but admittedly this trauma has pushed me into the natural hair community. Then I became annoyed almost angry because why is MY hair unacceptable?!? Who made that edict and why is their opinion more important than my own??? “They” don’t matter and no one’s opinion is more important than my own! So here I am now. I embrace it. God is good. I still have hair even though it’s thin in areas, but the texture allows me to look good and the thinness is not noticeable. Thanks for taking us deeper with this question. So that we kill the self hatred of our God given hair (if it’s deemed beautiful by my Creator, it’s beautiful to me!), and are firmly rooted into self acceptance of our hair. Let’s just face it...We can chat for hours on this topic, because it’s really about more than hair. But, this starts the conversation. Thank you

Ashlee Janelle: Hey Trudy, ive watched your video and I totally understand what you're saying. I agree till a certain point tho. I'm a blogger and I wear lots of wigs. What people probably don't know is that Ive done the big chop a few years ago and that was my hairstyle for months! Beginning 2017 I did another big chop and I'm treating my natural hair with much love underneath my wig. My goal is to get to know my hair and to wear it again whenever I feel like it. Me wearing wigs has nothing to do with feeling insecure of afraid to not look professional. I understand that we as black woman are responsible for the image of all of us, but I'm actually tired of people deciding how a black woman should look like to represent all. Personally I think everybody should play a role of representing a black woman in your own way. The other one does that by talking about certain topics on Youtube and the other one does it by the way you wear your hair. That's the reason why we should have different role models to look up to. We can't compare everybody to Solange. Not everybody's the same.
