How To Make Giant Butterfly Hair Clips

In case you ever wanted to know how to make a wire hanger into a giant butterfly hair clip, here you go. If that doesn't seem like the most practical application of your time or of wire hangers, I hope you enjoy the video anyways :)

Voiceovers are hard on a good day, when you're sick they're downright miserable.

Please remember to use common sense when working with sharp stuff and an open flame. Never leave lit incense unattended. Be safe

Edit:

In regards to COPPA and the FTC,

While I’ve worked hard to make my content accessible and enjoyable to a broad audience, my content is not intended for young children. I regularly use potentially hazardous tools to create art including open flames, heavy gauge wire, sharp pins & sewing needles, razor blades, as well as a sewing machine & serger. These are tools no child should be using unsupervised, and by extension, children should not be watching these videos without supervision. I’m so happy when parents tell me my videos inspired them to create art with their kids. I think arts and crafts are a wonderful way to connect people of all ages, but not all arts and crafts are appropriate for young children, and should not be attempted without attentive supervision and guidance.

My videos are not intended for children. To those that would suggest that anything relating to fantasy, magic, fairies, and angels must be created for children, I’d point out the existence of shows like Carnival Row, Game of Thrones, Lost Girl, True Blood(Spoiler: series contains fairies), Good Omens, Lucifer, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and many more, are compelling evidence to the contrary.

Additionally, according to YouTube analytics less than 5% of my audience falls in the 13-17 age range (the youngest age group YouTube analytics provides data on) and the vast majority of my audience is over 20.

Also, a little update on me: I have been going through one of the worst periods of depression I’ve experienced in quite some time. I’ve barely been able to get out of bed for the past 3 months. My mental health has all but abandoned me, my physical health is suffering, and I don’t have the means or access to seek professional help. This has contributed to the lack of updates on all of my social media platforms. However, these developments with YouTube, COPPA, and the FTC, have been less than encouraging and this very well could mean the end of my channel.

To anyone who’s enjoyed watching my videos, thank you. It’s nice to know I’ve brought people a bit of happiness.

Thank you for all of the kind and supportive comments! I hope you continue to find inspiration and happiness through creativity and art

This project started out as an experiment to see what I could make using one wire hanger as a base. I started by unbending the corners of the hanger to form a large loop. I then measured the circumference of the hoop and divided that in half to get the two halves with my butterfly. The hub part of the hanger was used to form the base of the butterfly's body after that, it's just a matter of bending and forming the wire until vaguely resembles the butterfly. This took me quite a while, and it left my hands a little bit cooler. If you are thinking of trying this project and didn't mind spending a little bit of money, I suggest getting a lighter gauge wire so that it's easier to form. I chose to use wire hangers because I'm cheap, the Murphree, the wing coverings, are made out of a nylon stock cut in half to form the two thousands of butterflies selling, the stretchy, delicate material of the nylon stockings to be a little bit tricky. And since I needs to fill in with my projects around four inches from my nose, it was especially challenging for me to fill this part. I stretched the stocking over the wire frame and then ran a running stitch along the opening of the stocking and cinch it down to secure it. Sometimes when you have deep, curves or divots in the shape of your way, the stocking conformed in the webbing appearance. That'S not really what I'm going for is so I sew the stocking down to the wire frame using a whip stitch. The Finnish appearance isn't perfectly smooth, but it's the best. I could Vantage of the time I tend to start by painting the perimeter of the wings to disguise the appearance of the wire when painting the veining and edges of the wings. I tend to keep the consistency of my paint quite thick to prevent it from bleeding across the material. Oh, Oh, oh I made a boo-boo and I don't know how to fix it, and I'm very depressed. Symmetry is a learn from my mistakes. Please always be careful with burning objects. On another note, I was quite ill while I was working on this project. Hence the squeaky cry of despair, still a little bit sick. Actually, unlike the stick paint I used for the lines, i watered down the paint for the color of my wings quite a bit, but it would spread easily across the surface. It can look a little bit blotchy at first, but if you gradually keep adding sheer layers of color eventually it starts to come together. The entire process is a lot more about patience, and it is about skill that says this was kind of a time-consuming project. Next, I added Twitter. I prefer to suspend my glitter and glue so that it's a little bit less messy while I'm working with it and it's much less likely to shut off later, how much Twitter's too much glitter, I think a personal choice. Clearly, I don't know who's installed. I use yarn to bulk up the body of my butterfly gluing and wrapping until he was sufficiently chubby. I used a really ineffective angle to show me bluing on the little plastic airline, but trust me, that's what I'm doing. I painted the body of my butterfly with a mixture of glue black paint and glitter, because I thought it would create an interesting texture and add durability. Lastly, I glued on a hair clip with some incredibly toxic smelling adhesive. The clips were a bit larger than I would have liked, and I wasn't sure which position to Groo it on in instinct. Told me this way, but I won't know until later. If that was the best idea.

Kelly Williams: Your butterfly is quite beautiful! I already knew how to do this, but just enjoyed watching your painting techniques and learned from that part. I do turn the music down as low as I can (because it's just not my style of music), so tend to miss it when you do talk. Perhaps just adding captions for when you're trying to explain something would help those of us who don't want the music. I do appreciate the work you put into this video, and you do a great job on it!

Nicolene du Buisson: I love your 100% amazing arts. You're a true artist

Beverley Clough: Would love a slower paced version of this! Your work is really wonderful. Music on my clip was good, i could hear you easily over it❣

MisterTracks: Brilliant work! Keep it up!

isabella davis: Looks like most replied about the music overpowering your voice ...love the idea of mixing the glitter in the glue ..certainly it helps strengthen the item as well as locking in the flecks...well done

Елена В: Очень красиво! Спасибо за такую идею!

Alex lee: its stunnning and i can imagine these with fairy houses... or just to do a room with them stuck on ting

Eden: this is so creative. You're an artist !

Grey: Omg it's basically just a tiny version of the fairy wings! That's genius!! Your little,"Nooo000ooo" squeal was super cute, lol

All My Love, Dixie: You did an awesome job with the butterfly ^.^ Just a suggestion, I would turn down the volume on the music. It was so loud! You have a very soft voice and I couldn't hear you over it >.<

Kanao Tsuyuri 🦋: I needed this for my kanao cosplay but I NEVER SAW THIS TILL NOW

Sonia Zúñiga: Podrían hacer el paso a paso no tan rápido y traducir en español porfavor esta hermosa la mariposa

Julio Flores: Buen trabajo

Reyes E. Rivera Bonilla: Hello What kind of painting is it? Thank you

Elizabeth Sawyerr: Do you sell these ?

ItMatters: cool idea going to try this but one thing the music comes in so much louder then you talk so I did not get to hear what you said because I had to keep the volume down because of the up and down with the sound.

cydah leal: ❤❤❤
