Bridal Hairstyles (Including Veils & Hair Accessories)

Hi everyone and welcome to the bride guide 101 with gemma and jade here today at the wedding room, the kidderminster our bridal shop. So we wanted to talk to you a little about accessories today, because i think it can really make your bridal look and if you've got plain address or a dress, full of lots of detail, your accessories will be the icing on the cake for that and it's My favorite part as well: she loves a veil, everybody, so we're going to see lots of veils lots of pieces and maybe a few belts and what we thought we'd do is try some different dresses on and show you what we would put with it. Um for different looks as well yeah, i think so, and i think, because your breath yeah breasts very well we're not accessorizing the breasts, i'm not getting them out again. The best look you'll find your dress will dictate your accessories, but they won't detract from your dress. They'Ll enhance it and you know we sell their accessory appointments. You'Ve got time to digest. Yes once you've said yes to it, and it's going away thinking about your hair, what you're going to then do with your accessories. So when you come back in you'll, put your dress back on you'll go right. My hair's going to be a little bit like a little bit like this on the day, what we think it and then we will help you play around with those accessory pieces to make you feel comfortable still, but it's the wow. I never had a veil. I don't know if i've mentioned it, we know, and you wish you had one you don't know until you try it on so lots of women say. Actually they don't want one and then they put one on they're like. Oh, that's such a massive regret of mine that i didn't. I know i know i keep going on about it. So if you put something on you, i'm not sure that's fine, but you've got to always it's a bit like the dress, trying things on it's, how you find out what you love and today, we're going to show you certain dresses how you like, if you want To really enhance it, you know a love spot, you can dress it up, can't you or you can dress it down exactly so it depends. What sort of look you want? If you want a more relaxed look, then you have to think about your accessories. Don'T you so, let's see what we could put it together, let's go right then, so the first dress we have up is more of a simple dress. For me, it's all about the curves. With this dress and this one does come with a belt. I wanted to kind of show a few just giving options and show actually new accessories. You can think about bridal belts as well can make such a difference to a dress. So for me, with a dress like this, you do need a belt because it's going to pinch me at the waist and really show the curves off. So if you wanted to go sparkle first hold that there yeah, so you want it. On your i mean the dress might dictate where the belt goes to a certain degree hadn't it, but like you, want it on your smallest bit, really exactly for me. It'S sparkle time now so jen comes forward a bit. You can see she moves a little bit. Sparkle there, but if you didn't, want anything too heavy, you can change that up, because this is a trim that goes all the way around the waist as well. So if i show you another one depends whether you want to see it from the back or not. Doesn'T it you just want something like shapes, because this one, if i bring a bit closer to the camera, you can see, it's got shape to it. The other one was all the way around, so that sometimes makes a difference. What ladies want, i love this belt and me because you've got the best of both haven't. You you've got that bigger chunk, and i think, if you're trying to look proportions, you've got something bigger there. It takes your eye in doesn't it, which is what you want give me a small waist, jade. Okay, so if jump is a bit closer, you can see got a little bit more shape to this one, but still quite subtle, which is really nice. If you do anything too blingy and just to mention, because the back is so lovely and you've got all the buttons you don't have to have this um tied on, you can have it sewn on exactly because, obviously, with this dress, you've got beautiful buttons. The rain. Don'T want to interrupt the lines of it. I'Ll just show you another one. So if you want to go back a bit more sparkly, but keep it quite subtle, you can go something a little bit thinner, because actually the width of the belt will dictate a different look too. Oh, i quite like that. Actually, this one's quite subtle again, you can have the sewn on and again. This is what we do in accessory appointments we play around with different looks for you. So that's quite a thinner one, but i found with this dress with kind of what i'm going to go for today. It'S organ about the veil. Now this me, because the dresses get me a veil, i think be really nice, because this dress is, i don't know if you're picking on the camera, it's quite um a dark ride. It'S quite creamy yeah. So i'm going to put on kind of a pearl color with this dress and you'll, see when i put the lace, fails on i'm going to keep it quite pearly, so i've got a pearl little belt here again, you can have any just what i'm gon na Play around with today it's about giving yourself different and you'll know when you start putting stuff on you, just you just get drawn to it. You don't have to overthink it. Do you it's what you like yeah, so when i think about accessories and hair accessories. I always say to everybody think about how you want your hair and when you've got your hairstyle, you want to do. You want to look in the mirror and see your detail here or do you want back your hair and i think that usually comes down to? If you want the back of your hair, think hair vines, combs slides. If you want to see it again, you can have hair vise, but they all sit at the front or you'll go with bands and tiaras. So if i, if this were gemma in the appointment and she was like - oh, i want to keep my hair down. A band is a really good way to still have your hair down, but season a little bit because there's not a lot to go guys. To be honest, i don't think i need a little like ponytail at the back. So, as i was saying, we've got lots of different ones, but if you went with a band more tiara at this point, one's quite subtle - if i bring it - where am i here we go, you can see. You'Ve got a little bit of pearls on a bit of sparkle, but it's on a band, so that'll be make it more fixed to your head and obviously more comfortable on the day. You can have it set this way, but i'm going to keep it quite subtle. Today, for gemma i'll just show you this: in there we go, look, that's pretty gemma comes back and then it will come down to my favorite bit. Fails, i've only got two and anyone that's been into our shop will know with me. I get carried away and they come in like this. I'M like i have to pull myself back, but i wanted to show you lace with this dress, of course, with this dress and you can go anywhere, you want, you can go sparkle, you can go playing, but i want to go late today. Show you two different ones well, sometimes, ladies, that end up with a play in a dress like this actually love lace and they do come in for a lace dress. So we always say: well, if you've gone plain, uh have your lace in your veil, then you've got better. Both then haven't you. So i'm just gon na bring this a little bit closer with this veil or the edging. It'S so pretty a little bit of sparkle. On there it's two-tier and it's a longer veil, jab me up. Oh i'm gon na be a princess. This veil will fall in to the train of the dress, which is the beautiful part of it. You might want to show them down a little bit. I think get the full look i'll just move the camera. You can see how pretty laces on the dress - and i think you know you've got your extra tier here, which makes a bit more fuller around. But it's still because there's no detail on this top tier. For me, this belt works really well with the plain address and you can see it's changed the look of the dress. Now, if you were like, i love lace, but i'm not sure what the heaviness of a longer veil and lace or do you feel like a bride, though, as soon as you put that on yeah i'm getting married, you can always have a shorter veil, and you Can still have the same sort of feel can't you mm-hmm. So if i come this one, the shorter one and you've got a little bit of lace, the edge in there jen has to kneel down there. You go. Oh look, oh, i feel like it's very spanish. It is a bit oh yeah, because you've got the lace running over the comb. Yeah i'll just show you a little bit closer. Look quite traditional! Actually, isn't it again, you can play around with your lace and your length and again, if you were like. Oh, i'm not sure about a tiara. You can always have more of a comb with pearls and a bit sparkle over, but that's how we'll work through the accessories to get something to make. You feel amazing. In so now, i've got jade in this uh gorgeous dress, which is completely covered in lots of lace and lots of sparkle. So this for me, is you can go two ways with it. We can either enhance it with more sparkle and really bring it up, or we can really try and dress it down and let the dress do the talking so i'll show you what i would do first, which is, i would dress it down slightly because it's such A gorgeous dress and you've got a beautiful train on it as well. So you don't need lots on it. So if i went for something, what did you say, i was just going to say: i'm just lost in the spa. Yes, i love it. So i've got what we call a flat comb. So there's no rushing at the top of here. It'S just completely flat and it's what we call a super soft. So it should just fall into the dress. Really i've gone along, but obviously you can go shorter. So i'm just going to pop it in the back here and so what i'm trying to do is i don't want too much veil at the top. I don't want all this ruche in here, because i don't want to stretch from the whole dress, so that's it. So it's just completely flat. Look and obviously you'd have your hair over this, or just underneath, if you're, having like a messy bun or something so it would just fall completely down okay and then, if i was going with something like this, rather than go for a tiara or anything too much Over the top you've got these gorgeous little head vines. I'M just going to show you that and the good thing about these is they're really flexible. So obviously you can wear them at the front, but you could also wear them at the back. So if you wanted something different, they're, really versatile yeah, so sometimes they don't buy the vine, knowing that their hairdresser can work different ways with it. Can you hold that on? I can and then just go to the camera. So you've got just your little headphone going around. It'S got all your little floral bits in which pick out the flowers from the dress as well, and then you've got your gorgeous fail, which is completely so it's just more dressing it down. Keeping it simple. Let you and your dress do the talking on this one. Okay, then your next one, oh, no, i feel, like i'm gon na mess up your hair. Have you ever had an appointment with me? That'S what i do all the time. I do it as well. It'S like, oh sorry, so, just take this off now. If you want to go full out and you want to be much more spark a bit more princessy sort of feel, then we can bring it all together. So this is a half combs. This is much more ruche look, so you've got a lot more ruche in here and then i don't if you can see, there's this little diamonds on the side and all of those are all over the veil as well. It'S a nice scatter on the sparkle yeah. This one it's subtle, but it's there isn't it yeah. Ah, i know you're gon na love, it it's mine and then i just show you you can see now. Can you see a little bit yeah edging as well, and then i've gone for a full sparkle tiara? Oh look at sparkle on that. Let'S pop that on. Oh, my god, i'm all in so if you want to be more full sparkle and then just step back and i'll see if i can show the whole sort of look with the veil, because it does just fall into the dress. Okay, i mean it's just pretty and to be fair, these veils when they haven't they're, really they are lighter than you think they are they don't. This doesn't feel heavy all this failure, but you see how it can dress it up or you can take it down. Whatever is the vibe that you want to make the dress feel basically right then so up next we have our favorite dress. This is the one me and jen will always fight over when we're doing these sorts of videos. I just love it. We do we do. I think it's that it's certainly bridal, so it's just a mix of everything you've got the nude colors the little bit of delicate lace. It falls really nicely but enough about the dress because we're talking about accessories. Just for me, you think this dress, no it'll do another everything on its own. You can kind of go two ways that i think i'm going to pick up the pearl first and go a little bit bohoe alternative sort of look. We'Ve got this amazing tiara. This is a pearl crown and just look how pretty this is like a wow. If you come a bit closer jan mm-hmm, i think it's something that's really different. It'S really really pretty, and it's handmade it's just it's beautiful. It'S just a little bit different. If you want that, if you want a little bit of a different quirky look and to continue that sort of pearl look, we've got this beautiful veil and this fails a longer veil again, you can have it on any length. So it's worth remembering it's got pearls all over it there's a scatter over it single tier, i said: you're quite low in gem's hair with half a bit of a half do for her over the back of the dress with that sparkle again, your accessories are gon Na hide in your dress and give it a while and that's exactly what's happened here with gem. I pulled that tag out of the way you can see. There'S beautiful pearls all over and they're, complementing the dress they're, giving it that different sort of look so as you're walking into your ceremony, it's your wow as you walk in and then again for the evening. If you want to take your veil off, you've got those options, but for me this does work and it's again playing around with the obsessing appointment you'll find out what look you want to go for then this is really dressing. It up, isn't it. This is like this is me and i don't care and i'm wearing something a little bit different. This is jen. That'S what she's getting out friday night all day long, so the next one i'm going to show you finally almost dress it down, make it more subtle sparkle with the accessories. So i've gone for a hair vine, but this is actually on a ribbon now with the ribbon. It'S really interesting because you can have it on the back of your hair and make it point or it can go underneath your hair. So you don't see it also. If you want a flower crown, that's sort of the same sort of vibe here, so if german's going a little bit closer, it's really delicate. It'S subtle! It'S pretty! It'S light, it's relaxed in the back and it feels quite light. Yeah i mean i do love the crown the pearl crown, but it is heavier, it's more of a chore to wear and then again keeping the whole kind of theme of lightness. We'Ve gone for a single tear veil 72 inch, but this one's got really subtle. A little bit of sparkle that runs over the edge the scalloped edge, so keeping it again really like the accessories, just a little nod to the dress. Without it being too much, you can see the little. Where are we there? We go sparkly bits. So if gem just turns around for us you'll see that it's really it's really light and having a single tear. Sometimes it's quite nice because it doesn't distract from the back of the dress you'll, see through the dress and, like i said it's just giving a little bit of a naughty dress, but not taking away from it. So, ladies next, i've got jade in this gorgeous fitted. Dress, we've got a lace top and we've got a planar bottom now. For me, you can go with lace, fails if you wanted to with this, but you've got to be careful because the lace has got to match. Basically, you don't want it to look like it's completely two different ones, so i haven't chosen to go with lace. I'Ve gone with something a lot more simple because i feel like it's a very elegant little slinky dress. So i've gone for something quite plain a little bit longer, but there's literally nothing on this. It'S just a gorgeous veil that and i think, if you do a back clip with this, this will be the the look from the back will be quite wow. So i'm just going to pop it in so you can see - and i think sometimes when you've got a lot like, because this lace is so detailed. You don't distract from your dress and i think by going plain - and sometimes you heighten your dress and make it more of a wow you're, giving a nod to your dress: you're, not trapped. It'S like a frame. Isn'T it you're framing your dress to go? Look at where i look at my dress and i'm going to put a little back comb with it. So something like this look. It'S a bit pearly a bit sparkly! So it's not too over the top sparkly sort of tone down a little bit. So i'm just going to pop that in just over the top, i've got my tags on. It'S really annoying all right turn around. So then you've got look. You'Ve got your gorgeous. Let'S see uh, you turn around that way, a bit more. That'S it hang on. Ladies. There you go so you've got just bend down a little bit. I know it's really weird. Why are you too tall and never you've got this across the top and then obviously you've got your veil coming over as well? So, if you wanted to later on, you could nip this off. Take your veil off and then pop that back in. So if you've got a gorgeous bun underneath or something like that, it's the best of both. So that's your one look so pop joke back over and then your next one. If you want to just dress it up a little bit more and you want to see something from the front, but you don't fancy any sort of tiara or anything like that. What'S quite good if you wanted to go for a side piece but they're, quite good to put them on the band, so you've got this band that goes across because it can be quite they're quite heavy. Actually, so you have got a little bit a little bit. Careful, whereas with this it's just going to sit in and you're, not going to feel like it's too heavy. But if i just show you that's very sparkling again, we've gone for a bit of pearl so and if you don't want to see the band, you can always get your hairdresser to kind of hide it with your hair, depending on your yeah. Well, you've got like bits of hair across here then you're not going to be able to see turning it into a hairstylist and then veil wise. So this is one of our favorite veils, so this is a two-tier, which means you've got this second tier over the top, which is traditionally what you put over your head and then, if i just show you really close, you've got little pearls and then little sparkle Bits and like a scalloped edge as well, so i'm going to pop that in i'm ready to get married, so come a little bit closer. So you can see that little bit of detail. If i turn around just move forward a little bit, so you can see, you've got all of the sparkle and then another layer of sparkle, but so from the back. The veil is doing the talking and then from the front. You'Ve just got your side piece, but it sits really comfortably on your because you're not gon na have to worry about that moving yeah and if you want to have your hair, the side side pieces are really good for that as well yep. So that's the two looks with this dress right then so up next we have gemma and this beautiful dress. Again, it's a plain address. It'S all about the little details of this dress. You'Ve got the statement piece with the neckline and you just got beautiful buttons that couldn't poke all right. Yeah, it's got pockets on that button. No, so i feel like with a dress like this. You can really play for it. It'S about your accessories to really lift your dress. So for me my first point of call would be to maybe it sounds scary play around colours a little bit now this. For me, this dress needs a belt, but i've got this. Little rose gold, one on a pink band. It'S really soft and subtle, but just to kind of show you you can get away with things a little bit more, that that's really annoying where's, that going gem again the belt on a dress like this is going to frame your waist and really emphasize it and Show the best bit of your body off, especially it's way on the daylight. I do love it with a belt, though, for me, i quite like that bigger part and then the little part as well. I bring it down and touch. You just sit a little it bit all the way. It'S framing the dress, it's lifting it! If you, if you have a color theme of your wedding as well, you know some brows will go with a different kind of ribbon on their belts. You can you've got your options right. You'Ve got your goals and you're still raving and then you've got like. You know, like jason. If you want something else completely different and then if you want to go full sparkle, you go through the statement piece with your belt. Oh now we're talking wow. Oh, i love this belt. It'S one of our favorites yeah. You see. You'Ve got more design here. Bigger here, narrow hit, which is really flattering again on everybody adds a little bit more wow to the dress and continuing that sort of theme. With colours got on, it's like a rose gold, i'll whip. This off, because it'll clash, hair vine rose gold's really in as well. It is such a different sort of look, isn't it, but you could be brave, can't you you can. I think you've got. Oh, that's too tight for me, my head's too big. Oh, this is just lovely. I quite like the rose gold. It'S not like! Well, you can tone with your dress because, especially with the dress like that, there we go. It'S really pretty again. You'Ve got your ribbon. So you can hide it or underneath your hair and then, in terms of your veil i feel like again you can kind of go for it a little bit more with this. So i'm going to take the hair piece off because i'm really going to show you the veil, with this one, i'm going to put my hair up a little bit for you. I'Ve gone polka dots, so if i just bring it so differently, it is. I think this is definitely like a look there. We go, i mean it's definitely kind of adjusted yeah. Look at that closer! You just go to the mouth completely. For me, that's it! You can see the way this is falling over. This dress completely different a little bit quirky. Okay as well, though it's a lovely vowel now to go with something a little bit different. You can then, because it's a plain address go through with your legs. I'Ve also got one of our our other favorites. It'S a two-tier late with lace. Little clickays i mean look at that and you've got these little droplets on it as well, and this is it again if you want a little bit of lace and you haven't, got lace on your dress and you did want lace. Oh, oh, is it as good as i remember yes, it is and then to continue all right with i've, put teamed it with a gold, little hair combs going this one perfect right, so jump in closer. You can see. I just move it down, got the little comb there framing it there you go. How pretty does this look and obviously it's falling into the train of the dress? It completely brings the dress up, though, doesn't it completely right? If you turn around, then gem, you can see the way this is full. You'Ve got the little pelican sitting on the dress, i'm sorry, but come on that veil. I think it's adding and that's what good accessories will do. They will add to your dress or they'll nod to it, and i think this shows that so next up we've gone for much more of a traditional strapless and sparkly sort of princess dress, and we want to have a little play around. To show you what you can do with this now, obviously, the first thing we can do is we can go for a gorgeous tiara. Very sort of traditional tiara. Look really sparkly. So this is your sort of more princess, look more traditional prizes, i'm in hello, and then i thought we could go for so this fail. It'S got a bit of everything going on really so if you can see close up, you've got. Oh, you can't really tell the whole valley is covered in like tiny little bits of sparkle pieces and then you've got this gorgeous lace, detail with little pearls and sparkles all the way down as well. So this is a single tier again, you could go two to yeah, so i'm just going to pop that on i mean i love it. I'M in there we go just frame the dress, i'm not competing against it, because it can be difficult to match lace on lace. The lace on this dress, though, is because, under a couple of layers of tulle on the skirt, you can't notice it as much yeah. Quite subtle lay so you've got that sort of look with your princess, obviously go for a longer veil as well, but i've got a little surprise for you at the end. I want to show you so that's veil, wise number, one also. What me and jay just discussed is actually, you could add a little belt to this. I think that's worth playing around most dresses as well, that you've got once you think it doesn't need one. Ah, i'm stuck there, we go. Okay. Is that where you want it yeah? Well, i'm just going to hold it on. So don't have a little look. So it really emphasizes the waist and really sort of makes the skirt kick out and it weighs a bit more princess sort of look if you want, if that's a look that you want, which i would class this dress as and then your other options we've got This gorgeous, so you can still go really. Sparkly hang on a minute, but it's more of a headband sort of look but obviously you've got then all over there. You go. Oh sure, you ready, i am i'll, show you that's nice, isn't it yeah and it just stands out against your hair. I think and then my last option, which, if you want something from there's, no hair there, oh no, oh, no jade it got stuck. I'Ve got more of a headpiece now this is more of like um sort of scatter across, and these are nice because you can have some side of your hair, the back of your hair. Again, it's almost like a vine. You can work out where you want it. So i'm going to pop it at the back just to show you actually, you might need to hold it because it's a click one so hold that there, okay, you should have this put in with pins and grip. So you've got this. That can just it just sort of sprays out so imagine like you can have all this up at the bottom. You can have all this up at the bottom. If you wanted some sort of big messy bun and then you've got this sprayed across the top, which is really nice so yeah, that's the different, looks and she's pulled all my hair out ow. So, ladies the last one, we wanted to show you with the princess. Look is if you really want to go for it with your veil. This is one of our bespoke veils which are all handmade, so we've gone for more ruching at the top and then, as we come out, we've got really long. I mean how pretty is. It goes longer than the train. I feel like it's a statement. It'S a statement fail, isn't it so if you want to really go for it much more of a statement, love it
