How To Style Long Hair In A Helmet

These hairstyles totally prevent helmet hair. This is particularly helpful when I am riding to work and want to look professional once I get to the office. You will see, my dear long haired girls (and boys) - your helmet hair doesn't have to look like a tumbleweed.

So I'm gon na show you the different hairstyles. I use to make sure that my hair doesn't get all tangled up and still looks cute after a ride.. Some of these work better than others. Some of these look better than others.. So at the end, I'm gon na show my absolute favorite most effective solution, but it doesn't look really good., So I'm gon na start with the ones that look good, first., (, upbeat music, ), (, funky, music ). So I have very long thick hair and it's very important for me to look good after a motorcycle ride. And that's really difficult to do with a full-face, helmet and hair just in general.. So if you're going somewhere, I like to do this most. If I'm doing like really light riding - and maybe I'm gon na keep riding with people, I'm hanging out with. So say I'm just meeting some people like at a bike event or a restaurant or something and I'm not really gon na, be changing my hair a lot. But I want it to stay, keep from getting knotted and look cute at the same time.. So I call this the Jasmine, the more ties you can get the better, but I also used to use this scuba diving when you're submerged underwater for 30-plus minutes under salt water, your hair can come up a disaster., So this works really well for that too, especially, If you use more hair ties actually. Now I don't use braids. And the reason that is is because, for some reason braids and my hair and riding just doesn't mix. It's like it's almost as bad as a ponytail. But I have this the Jasmine and if its not too much highway riding or if it's not too much riding, then I'll leave it outside of my jacket.. So you can tell that I'm a girl, while I'm in full gear, but otherwise I might tuck it in my jacket so that that's just extra protection and keeping the hair better.. But when I have it like this, I usually won't take it out.. So another thing that I do and this I've been doing for work lately, it's really fast and easy., And then my hair looks pretty good when I come to work.. So what I'll do is I'll just twist the face-framing ends and then let me turn around and then I'll twist everything else in a bun tie it. And then my commute to work is only like 30 minutes, mostly highway. Actually less., It's about to be more'cause. I'M gon na move and get a garage soon.. Actually by the time you see this video I'll already have that garage. But anyways. So I use this neck gaiter and I put it over my face and over my bun like that - and this keeps all the wispies out of my eyes, because even just one hair bouncing around inside your helmet is the most annoying thing ever. Okay.. This is hard to talk with.. So that's what I do when I'm going to work.. This is the short hair variation still twisting the front hairs., But instead of twisting the back hair I'll, just put it in a loop and still put on a neck gaiter.. That'S it the absolute ultimate thing that isn't cute, but it's the most effective thing. And I use this while scuba, diving now and exclusively because nothing works better than this.. So this is called now. I need to disclose this because legally you're required to disclose. If you do any sponsored ads or affiliate links or anything like that, this is not a sponsored ad or an ad or even an affiliate link.. This is ..., I don't know ... a brand new company. I guess that or it's just this is like woman working out of a home. I guess who rides and made this herself., But I literally get nothing by doing this video for this product.. It would be illegal for me to tell you that if I didn't just by the way., So just so, you know that when I tell you that this is the best thing ever, it really is the best thing I have found ever.. So what I do is kind of the same thing. I'Ll do for work is I'll twist. The face-framing hairs twist the hairs everything together in the back. And then I usually like to use a thick ugly scrunchie, because that even helps better to prevent any creases so that my hair looks better later. But I forgot to bring one for right now.. So once I do that you have this like pocket and what is essentially like a thug doo-rag., So you got a pocket for your long hair.. I messed this up, hold on., Come down and then up and then tie it and then that's what that looks like.. So, as you can see, not my favorite look ever, but with this, my hair literally looks like I just came out of the salon whenever I've been riding all day and I use this. And I'll show you how it looks when I put my helmet on.. I know I have this like psychotic outfit on, but this shirt is what I was wearing for work., But I do have my armored pants on and my armored jacket and everything else. I was wearing.. I took the cheek pads out so that I could do that. Slow-Mo helmet reveal for you. ( birds, chirping ), But once I put it on, you can see the bun just sticks out from the back. Okay. So I contacted the owner of this product and she did give me a discount code for you. Use code doodle for 10 % off.. It'S not an affiliate link.. I don't get anything out of that.. I have to disclose it. And I'm happy to let you know that I really just wanna share how awesome this is for you long-haired people. Back to that beginning part. I really hope that my audio is working on this and the video doesn't error out because I'm not gon na be able to do this video again.. So once a year I like to cut 10 inches off my hair and donate to Locks of Love., And I do really like my long hair.. I do like the way I think I just .... I think it looks better on me, but it is annoying to maintain, since my hair is naturally curly and really thick., But once a year I'll, just cut 10 inches off. And as I'm recording this it's actually June. And the last time I cut 10 inches is March of last year., So I'm a little overdue, as you can see it's pretty long, but I eat like a hippie and I take a multivitamin.. So I think that's why it grows so fast.. So what I do is I cut my own hair and I've been cutting it for years. And the way I do it is by having those like nice layers is. I do this upside down haircut.. It often looks a little stupid at first, but it grows out in a couple months and looks better., So let me make sure I'm getting at least 10 inches. Okay. So where my middle finger is, is 11 inches.. So let me bring this up.. Oh, let me just double-check that I don't accidentally cut less than 10 inches ,'cause. That would be bad. Yeah a little over 10 inches. Good. And then that's a little sideways.. Isn'T it I can't even see this was dumb to do this without a mirror, but can't go back. Now. (, wind, whooshing, ), ( scissors, snipping )? Oh, my hair is so thick. Okay., So that was pretty janky. But oh wow.. I feel so light.. So that's another way to help your ..., Oh my God. I feel so weird.. So that's another way to help make sure to help prevent helmet. Hair is just donate it. Once a year and oh, my God. ( laughing ), It's donated once a year. And if you take a lot of multivitamins and eat, as naturally as possible, you're like not even gon na ..., It's gon na be a year, and then it's back already., Like literally It'S insane how fast my hair grows now., But I'm a grown-up. I'm allowed to cut my own hair.. I won't be getting trouble.. Oh man, I did mess this up.. Well, hopefully it's enough for Locks of Love.. The rest of this looks like 10 inches.. So this is .... They can't use that, but apparently they sell like shorter hair. So they can use that. I guess., If you're a girl who rides - and you wan na, see more videos about being a girl who rides with other tips that aren't just like this. Then you can click this playlist right over here. I have over 100 videos and I try to select ones that I feel like are most girls-centric right. There. I make videos in mind of thinking what I needed when I first started riding as a girl who didn't know anybody who rode. So be sure to subscribe, and hopefully you'll find some other really helpful videos on here., And I will see you in the next One

Doodle On A Motorcycle: Hope you all can forgive me with the sound! I didn't realize my voice recorder was off until AFTER I cut off 10 inches of my hair... For those of you with John Wick length long hair - https://youtu.be/KYXr1K6l4wQ - tell him Doodle sent ya! If you want that doo rag with a pocket for your big ol' hair bun, click here and use code DOODLE for 10% off http://bit.ly/HelmetLinerLongHair (this is not an affiliate link - this company doesn't have an affiliate program, but I had to share this with you all regardless)

Machineboyyy: As a guy with long hair, I know the feels. Glad you shared this, hope ALL the peeps riding with long hair learn some of these neat tips :)

D Myers: I am not a girl who rides, I am a guy who rides. That said I flat love that you are putting out content and helping build the motorcycle community! Thanks for doing it!

Lindsay Rowlands: This is so girly, but beefy bikers everywhere are going, "Hmmm, didn't know that was a thing. Too bad I'm bald." Love your work; you are single handedly shredding the useless myths and fantasies around people, especially women, on bikes.

B. A.: More girl-centric content, please and thanks!

David Klementis: As a guy who shaves my head, I figured I'd watch this because of your fun personality and my wife has very long hair and is looking at getting into riding. Then seeing you cut off 10+ inches, yourself & without a mirror in the video for a good cause just made my day. Thank you!

caroline kido: Hey Doodle, love the "girly" videos. Yes, I would like to see more "girly" videos. I liked the one in particular about when you first started riding, and how you had to overcome your fear. With many men, i think they don't understand that "anxiety" am thinking it's a normal thing amongst woman to suffer from anxiety more than men. At least my husband has never had anxiety riding. I am a new rider and am at the beginning stage of overcoming that fear now, so for now am not caring too much about my looks, but caring more if i will come back home alive,,hahaha, but definetly loving the girl content. So refreshing. I would like to know if riding has changed you in any way from the way you were BEFORE you took up riding.? Did you find yourself becoming more confident in general in life? DId riding help you overcome stress or anxiety? Am asking this because, as a female, i suffer from PMDD and it was taking over my life, but since i got the bike, i now look forward to riding it, that it gives me that wee tingle and helps me over some hard times.

Megan Tomcek: I love this! I just got into riding recently . I have long hair, so this video was perfect . Could you keep doing more beauty videos or how to look feminine with all the gear on. I want others to know I’m a gal and not a guy, while riding.

fijijakes: Great video. It’s a constant struggle to have decent hair after a ride instead of helmet hair. I always wear a full helmet and love your tips. Thank you

Tiffany Smith: Thank you so much for posting this! I also have long, thick hair, and helmets make my hair look disgusting. Can't wait to try these out. Your channel rules.

Slinging Lead: Girl, I totally get where you're going with this. Most of the time when I take off my helmet my hair looks almost as bad as when I put it on.

Mzbrayzn: I'm a 63y/o female solo rider. It's hard to believe just how many young female riders there are now. I applaud you all. Thank you for your video content. I just donated 18 inches of hair and find that though long hair is sometimes frustrating, short hair doesn't do well at all under a helmet. Ride strong.

Diesels HOG Vlog: It’s really odd that I watched this , because I have 1/2” long hair and I’m a dude lol. I guess I just like how normal and real you are ‍♂️. Plus my wife rides with me a lot and has reeeeealy long hair so I sent her this link, I know she’ll appreciate you doing this vid! Later doodle ✌

Macropaige: So glad I found this video. I scuba dive as well, but my hood keeps my hair in check (PNW diver here). Learned real quick how to manage that... But so glad for info on the hair warp! Tried everything and my hair still comes out a wreck.

Bronwyn Irving: This is the exact video I needed! Thank you! ❤️

Lauren B: Love these ideas!! I use the jasmine style all the time! I have long hair so it can be a struggle! Haha

Purple Haired Sunflower: I go on motorcycle trips with my dad, and my hair is now longer than my shoulders, and my hair would get crazy tangled while riding, so thank you! You saved me an hour of combing tangles out! -A

John Stonewall: This is an aspect of riding a motorbike that I had never thought of as an issue, but of course I am a male of the species who, despite my advanced years, is still oblivious to many aspects of ladies lives.. However, like all your videos, it brings intp sharp focus matters that lady riders need to address. Well done and keep up the good work!

stan the moto man: Couldn't understand directions. I'm bald now. Thanks, Doodle.

Rebel Rides from Hell's Bells Classic Motorcycles: Haha, I'm a guy with long hair and use a combination of some of those. I often have guys in cars come up from behind me at lights wanting to check me out until they see my beard!

luckybear57: Thanks for the tips Hun I just hacked all my hair off 3 weeks ago and that works the best for my helmet hair But my hair grows really fast so I'll save this video for later

Pragati Singh: Hey girl, amazing content. It is truly difficult being a girl biker with long hair. It is still so weird that my major hair concern was people finding out that I was a girl rider by seeing my hair and doing disrespectful stuff like making obscene gestures or try to tease me/make fun of me. It happens way too often because I'm from a country where it is very rare for girls to ride motorbikes.

MotoTigress: You inspired me to get a motorcycle and learn how to ride, and now you are giving me great hair tips! My hero. ❤️

ChuckVT: The benefit of being an old rider...no worries about helmet hair!! Great video and how wonderful you donate to Locks of Love!

SJMudTurtle Cruises: Awesome Video Doodle! I use to have long hair like you, then to deal with the helmet hair issue I cut if all off, no more worries LOL! Kudos to you showing on a video how you cut your own hair and double kudos for donating to locks of love, that is where my 15" of hair went as well!

Jamie Jackson: You're too awesome. Hahahaha. I cut my own hair too, but this clip tho you're adorable. Keep being you. It keeps moms like me stay unbelievably proud of our strong girls.

James Browning: Great video! Pulled it up cause my wife is trying to figure out what to do with her hair :)

Danielle Celardo: Thanks! This was so helpful. I usually do "the Jasmine" but I'm glad I got some other ideas!

ralvarez02: I just discovered your channel. Thank you for making my life a little nicer with your honesty and your positivity. Sending you good vibes from California. Take care and be safe :-)

becky s: I am down on a short SoCal tour and am doing my hair with a raci-babi I got after seeing it here. Thanks for having them on the channel, this is the BEST way of managing long hair on a trip!

Robert Glenn: My wife does a similar routine, bundling it up or tying it back, then a neck sleeve up around it. But, lately she's just been tossing it back and flopping her helmet on, since her hair is shorter and thin so doesn't knot up or get all matted down. So she can usually just pop the shell off and shake it out and Voila!!!

Linda: You are amazing!!! I love your beautiful practicality.....I didn't realise you were going to literally cut your hair in the video. Your hair turned out lovely!! Thank you for your all your tips and your other videos, they are so helpful. Bless you.

becky s: Hair styling techniques for the pandemic era! Awesome!! Looks good, too. May try that this weekend.

MotoMagrew: Awesome thanks for sharing! My daughter loves your videos! Great to have an awesome role model for female riders. What I took away myself was, I gotta take multivitamins and possibly eat like a hippy! My hair grows sloooow...

Wholly Susan: AHHH! You cut it! Lol! I have donated a little over 3 feet of hair over my lifetime! Good for you! Love the tips! And thanks to you (and some other awesome ladies) I started my channel! First vid up and I am stress sweating. I have so much more respect for YouTubers now!

MyLostYouth: Any tips for a longer, warmer ride? I use a "doo rag" thing, but my thick hair will curl at the first bit of moisture... Anyway, great videos and congrats on your new place!

Lyle MacDonald: I have no idea why I am watching this video to the end since I am an old dude with not enough hair left to even shade my head from the sun! But what little I have still gets messed up under the helmet. I see your bike's sliders are earning their keep. Love your videos and never ending enthusiasm. Oh right, THAT is why I watch them! Respect from .

whit meza: Good gosh lady, you have some incredibly awesome long hair!

Barbara D: I have a RaciBabi head wrap, and it works great but looks really bad on me! I have a very round head and it just makes it look rounder. I have long but really fine hair, I love the idea of using a big scrunchi! If I get a really thick one, maybe it will make the RaciBabi bun part look fuller. Great video!

Donald White: Thats a very nice gesture donating your hair to those in need, and the new length is cute also, great video

Johnny X: Finally, the video I've been waiting for! I think I just have 2 wait a year or 2 before my hair is that long

spookychief: As a guy with long thick hair i struggle with this, so thanks for sharing your tips.

Bahlzeron: As a dude with long, ultra fine hair, I absolutely MUST keep my hair tied on the bike or in any wind for that matter.... five minute ride and I'm workin out a mess of tangles for an hour if I don't. I use multiple hair ties spaced roughly three inches apart.

Jimmy Duncan: Just as every woman watching this is seething with jealousy over that luscious bouncy hair, she hacks off 10+ inches to donate it. This Doodle ain't playin'!

Nebojsa Rodic: Know the troubles, as a long haired guy. I got this Triumph jacket that has a neat metal logo on the back of the neck, it is perforated though and serves as an excellent hair puller and entangler! I just fold mine in the back and tuck it under the jacket.

Rag Man: My hair was as long as yours maybe even a tad longer, when I started to ride some 20+ years ago. I used "The Jasmine" method. Really does work well. I eventually did the Cancer Shave For A Cure thing. Raised $1400. After shaving, I'd lost so much hair my helmet would't fit. I had to wear a beanie till it grew back enough it fit correctly. Great video, can't believe you hacked off so much hair but it is for a good cause. Good work.

Tay Alejandro C: This is an amazing video. You’re awesome for doing this and you look nice with short hair. I shave my head so no helmet hair for me and my wife has super thick straight hair she braids her’s for rides

2thePtBassTuT: "... I'll leave it outside of my jacket so you can tell that I'm a girl while in full gear..." Not necessarily... maybe it's a Woodstock era male hippie who is bald, but has an enormous ponytail... :^)

2hondaboy2: After the scissors, maybe consider a Triumph "bobber"? Looks very good! Love your videos!!

Jae Anabelle Redford: your hair is so pretty! i've been thinking of getting a motorcycle as a daily commuter but the main thing that holds me back is my hair. i have very fine, thin, frizzy hair and it's super hard to look presentable after wearing a helmet for me. idk if any of these will work for my hair but thanks for the ideas!

cartire801: Very generous of you to help others like that .

Eren Cooper: As a fellow curly girl, have you used the raci babi with curly hair? If so, did it help keep your curls in tact? Love your vids!

David Z: Any suggestions on how to keep my beard from getting caught in my helmet strap and still let it flap in the breeze like a scarf?

Polished In Brooklyn: Great video. Any tips for keeping curls in tack? I gave naturally curly hair too but I rarely wear it straight. By the end of my ride my curls are just flat and unattractive.

jill ian: I’m actually taking a course next month since the NY permit test is so annoying and the line is insane lol. Just found your channel and definitely subbing :)

Rain’s Adventures: I get helmet hair and my hair is only 3/8” long. That’s what happens with a helmet that has really good ventilation.

Pamela Dawn: I want to see more about how you eat like a hippie, and which vitamin you take. Thanks for all the hair tips, girl! Keep em coming, especially if you have any lazy hair hacks. Loved the vid, Doodle!

Crumblymal: Doodle you are without doubt my favorite person to watch .you really make me laugh OMG if I had that much hair I would try it and we all hate those wispy's I used to get them when I had long hair not as long as yours though haha soo good thanks for the lift Mal UK :)

Shaskia J: Please can you do this with your natural curls - just for us riders with curly/mixed hair. thank you!! xx

Lo Z: Honestly my hair on my commute is one of my biggest riding pet peeves! The wind completely destroys it and anything that holds everything together takes too long (because my hair is very slinky). Now I just pull it into a side braid, knowing half will be out by the time I arrive, and call it a day! I can't do a bun because my helmet bumps it at the back but a regular pony doesn't do anything to corral the main. Even after I cut my hair- now about the length yours is after your chop (which looks great, by the way!!) -I still have issues trying to keep it contained and maybe hopefully not just pancake flat! I haven't succumb to a cover yet but we will see how long I hold out :)

Wilco Faber: When I had my motorcycle the first month I also had quite long hair so I recognize the problems ha ha. But my hair is now shorter, in a full face helmet I absolutely agree that long hair requires measures. It can distract when riding I discovered.

Thiago N. Oliveira: Hey, Doodle! Any tips for my wife who has a medium sized very curly hair? Cheers from Rio de janeiro, Brazil!

Let's Ride With These Guys: haha good tips! i've just accepted that my hair will be a messy bun

RETRORIDER: Oh man your missing out on that sweet helmet ventilation so true about us riders, any little thing not tied down or strapped can easily become the biggest problem for us.‍♂️ I love my “helmet hair”.‍♂️. Ride safe y’all

Marc_Perry1028: Much respect for you donating to Locks of Love every year. Very awesome!

Melissa Green: Doodle, I think I could eat only organic vegetables for 5 years straight and my hair would never grow 10 inches in one year :) You are very funny! Your hair looks good short or long.

Caleb Lancaster: I am a guy with long hair with shoulder length hair and i am so grateful for this video!

Art Webb: Oh lawd, I got that wavy / curly hair (what's left of it) I used to get major helmet head Then I got to the point where I could no longer ignore the creeping hair loss, and just started buzzing it ( easy DIY) I'm sure the folks at locks of love will be perfectly happy with your donation

squeezecake: I have a HUGE afro. I literally have a separate helmet for when I grow it out haha! Edit: gonna get the doo rag.

anbshilling: awesome, thanks for the tips! I totally know what you mean about fly aways in the helmet...Worst.thing.ever and so distracting....and itchy!

Guan Sim Teh: Can't believe you cut your hair on camera. Brave woman. Since I started riding, I've been maintaining a bald head. Just makes things easier. Too lazy to comb when I reach the office. But I'm a guy so it's not so bad.

charles norton: Now that was brave ,, wow ,I really admire you .

Dolly Ferrier: Thank you for the wonderful video just now and I look forward to trying your hairstyles out and the products you showed

Linda Salas: Most of the time I have a tight ponytail and braid the rest works the best for me. If I meet ppl or want to look cute I do the jasmine hair as well

Georgy Rajan: I feel you, from my experience using a Balaclava also helps a lot plus u don't have to tigh the hair just tuck the balclava inside ur jacket.

South Africa: I am a guy.. with short hair.. yet watched this video.. just like your videos and you being real

tim johnson: When I was a teenager in the early 70's I had long (hippie) hair (fine, blond) and it would tangle terribly. That was the end of real long hair. Then came the desire for a real job leading to short hair. Long hair is PITA.

Dayna Garrido: I just started riding cuz of COVID I wish I saw this before I cut my hair.... LOL. I'll just have to grow it out and reference your video again thanks doodle!

Chris Graham: Well, that was interesting. And as usual, you are doing it for a good cause.

dgiturbo: My wife agrees with you about that one strand of hair in the helmet that annoys your face... things I never knew

Ethan Cheng: That one wispy hair bouncing around in your helmet thing? Omg so true. I was contemplating shaving my head while riding.

Mike Essary: Your hair looks beautiful doodle!!

Sean Inness: Somehow it looks fuller around your face after you cut that section off. Maybe it was weighted down with the extra length. I like it.... see in the other comments about my hair loss claim.

kimmymoto: Thanks for this

Emily Paulsen: Lol, I was not expecting you to bust out the scissors and cut your damn hair in this video! You crack me up.

Yellow Backpack Guy: I wish I had hair! This tip looks like it would come in pretty handy.

Desert MoPho: So cool of you to donate your hair!

Nombre Apellido: I find that shaving my head works fairly well.

John Ganshow: Very beautiful hair, on a beautiful woman!!!

husky poop: hey doodle got long hair myself with a bit of an undercut i tend to tie it back and stuff rest darn a neck tube cos it get really knotty when it blows in the wind dont it lol

K W: You have so much going on and you're really busy, just so you know, your fellow gurrrrlies really appreciate this video!

diego leopa: hello from Argentina,I would love to see you doing more videos riding your triumph

Nombre Apellido: Your a diver and a rider?! Wow! Respect!

Fred Maldonado920: Girl whatever you do. Your always looks Fabulous.

My20 20View: Hey Doodle...don't really have a hair issue but wanted to support you to the end. Great vid!

Duane Delperdang: You are so awesome! Stay safe out there on 2 wheels.

Pamela Dawn: I replied before I finished the video! I wish you would show us the back of your haircut. Maybe in one of the next vids once youve been able to fix it yourself? I am all about cutting my hair myself, so in about a year, I could totally do this with my curly hair! Thanks!

Raul Nigli: A like just for cutting your hair and the donation. You have such gorgeous hair... X

Toxik Nao88: I can't cut my hip length hair :( I'll risk helmet braids lol

kevin espina: That haircut is badass. I love it.
