Hi, I'm Donna from naztazia.com Today, I'm going to show you how to crochet a headband or head wrap with a flower on it.. First, do a slip. Knot. See my beginner crochet videos. If you need assistance with this., Then chain 5. Join with a slip stitch to the first chain.. This will be used for the button hole. Chain 1 and then do 3, half double crochet stitches in this ring. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do: 1 half double crochet in each stitch across for a total of 3 stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do. 1: half double crochet in the first stitch, then 3 half doubles in the next stitch., Followed by 1, half double in the last stitch. Chain, 1 and turn your work. Do: 1 half double crochet in each stitch across for a total of 5 stitches. Chain 1 and Turn your work. Do: 1 half double crochet in the next 2 stitches, then 3 half doubles in the next stitch., Followed by 1, half double crochet in the next 2 stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do: 1 half double crochet across for a total of 7 Stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do: 1 half double crochet in the next 3 stitches, then 3 half double crochets in the next stitch., Followed by 1, half double in each of the next 3 stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do: 1 half double crochet Across for a total of 9 stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do 1 half double crochet in the next 4 stitches.. You are going to start to notice a pattern as we go on. Then 3 half doubles in the next stitch., Followed by 1. Half double crochet in the next 4 stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do: 1 half double crochet across for a total of 11 stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. At this point see if the headband's thickness is correct for your head. Mine is sufficient.. If yours is not wide enough, you can continue increasing according to what we've already done.. Your next row would have 5 half double crochets, followed by 3 half double crochets, followed by 5, half double crochets.. You will have 13 stitches across. If you need yet another row. Do 6 3, then 6., We're going to just do half double crochet, stitches back and forth for about 20, 25 or even 30 rows., Since everyone's head size is different. You'Ll have to alter this pattern to your liking.. We'Re going to put another tapered point on this side, so try and estimate where that will begin. Add more straight rows if you need.. However, if you are satisfied with the number of straight rows at this point, it is time to move on to the tapered decrease rows.. I am ready to begin decreasing these 11 half double crochet stitches.. However, if you have altered the width of this head wrap, you will need to alter the numbers. Accordingly. Start off by doing 4, half double crochet stitches.. Now, where we had done 3 half doubles we're going to alter this into a decrease. Begin, a half double in the next stitch, but do not finish it. Instead yarn over skip a stitch then insert your hook into the next stitch yarn over draw up a loop Yarn over and draw through all the loops on your hook. Now do 1 half double in the next 4 stitches.. You have a total of 9 stitches on that row. Chain. 1. Turn your work then do 1 half double crochet in each of those 9 stitches. We're going to do that decrease again. This time do 1 half double crochet in the next 3 stitches.. Now do that special decrease over the next 3 stitches. Begin, your half double in the first stitch, but instead of finishing it skip a stitch yarn over and proceed to do a half double yarn over and pull through all loops on your hook.. Do 1 half double in the next 3 stitches. Chain, 1. Turn your work then do 1 half double in each of these 7 stitches. I'll bet. You can figure out what we're doing on this row. Now do 1 half double crochet in the next 2 stitches. Do your special decrease then do 1 half double in the next 2 stitches. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do 1 half double in each of these 5 stitches. Chain 1. Turn your work then do 1 half double crochet, followed by the decrease, then do 1 half double crochet. Chain 1 and turn your work. Do. 1, half double in each of these stitches. Cut your yarn pull tightly then weave in your ends to prevent your work from coming undone.. Now you can try it on and sew on 1 or 2 buttons in the back.. You can use any one of my flower videos to make a flower, or I will show you how to make this particular one. Do a slip. Knot then chain 4. Slip stitch to the first chain. Chain. 5. Then slip stitch into the ring. Chain. 5. Then slip stitch into the ring., Keep doing this for a total of 5 loops. Next bend. The flower forward then slip stitch in between the next loop. Chain. 7.. Then slip stitch in between the next loop. Chain. 7. Again then slip stitch in between the next loop.. Repeat this around. At the end cut your yarn and in this case I like to knot my ends together for a secure fit., Take a button and thread some yarn into it.. Now take your needle or a hook and pull the yarn ends through the flower.. Take a needle or your hook and pull the yarn ends into your head. Wrap. Tie a knot tightly on the opposite, side. Cut and weave in your ends. Then try it on to see how it looks.
