Hey this is not new to you, but if you don't follow me on instagram, then i'm judging you, but also i'm bald again, so the vibe of today is literally how i felt when i did the other hair update video except this time. I cut way more. Obviously so we're just going to get straight to it. So in this video i'm going to tell you guys about my haircut and then i'm also going to show you how i got it because since i've been posting on instagram already, many people are already curious to know like how i style it. So that's going to be in this video, but first, let's do a mini story time: hair update, chit chat, type of thing. So, first of all, i don't want you guys to think that i'm crazy or that i'm going through a crazy life metamorphosis or anything like that, i'm just actually. Finally accepting the fact that i am extremely spontaneous. I am extremely indecisive. I do change my mind. A lot, but i actually have so much fun through it all. So it's not like something that's stressing me out or something that is like detrimental to my health. So, let's get back to the other video really quick, because obviously i mentioned a lot of things that aren't happening anymore. So, of course, when i first cut it, i did the taper cut absolutely loved it. That was also very spontaneous, very random, but i just wanted to do it, but if i'm being honest in early november, when i had my hair straight and i had to pull back, i was like hmm, i kind of want to be bald again, but i had Already told myself that i was going to lock it and i had already told you guys i was going to lock it. So i'm like, i can't shave my hair off, but then that's for maybe like two weeks after i did the hair update video before i was just feeling a lot of anxiety around locking my hair, not out of fear, because i still do want to lock my Hair, it was more so because i felt like i was rushing myself to do it, the lady that i'm going to she books out like six months in advance, and i also had to plan to fly to her because she's in maryland. So it was just like a whole lot of coordination, things that i felt like i was locked into the decision, even though i booked the appointment back in july, so getting closer to it. Um, even though i was starting to feel like damn, i kind of want to rock the short a little bit longer before i commit to locks. I kind of just pushed through it but pushing through it made me more anxious about it, and then i just decided to let that go, but on top of that um my boyfriend dre, he has locks well headlocks. He has been growing all his lives now for like six years um, but he's been been wanting to cut them off. I didn't have to cut him, but he wanted to cut him so literally randomly one night we just both decided to cut our hair together. So he cut his locks, i cut my hair and we were both balls. You still haven't gone to get his hair like shaped up yet so he doesn't really have an actual look, but this is what i'm working with now, but i want to show you guys the full process of getting here, because it was kind of like a little Adventure um, because this is something that's different for me. I haven't done a style like this in a while, so yeah, i know you guys are probably going to be confused. Pissed mad all the emotions, but one thing that i have to commit to for myself is to stop getting on the internet and saying that, i'm for sure doing something, because i might not i'm not going to stop myself from expressing how i am thinking about doing Something or expressing how i want to change something, but i'm not going to make a commitment or say i'm definitely doing this anymore, because that's just not who i am and the older that i'm getting the more i'm realizing how fluid i am the more i'm realizing. How i do like to play in different looks and different identities, and things like that, and it puts a lot of mental pressure on myself to feel like okay, because i already said this, i have to stick to this. Life is too short and yeah, so lock journey is being pushed back just postponed. It'S not canceled. I think i'm actually probably going to start them um at some point. Next year, probably only going to wear my hair short for a few months and then i'll grow. It back out a little bit. I am aware that my locs are, or my starter locks are probably going to be super short, but might as well embrace the whole journey right and i'm saying probably next year, because i might change my mind again and push it back or you know, i don't Know but locks are definitely something that i want to do it's just a matter of the right timing, because since i was rushing so much and feeling like i have to do it now, i have to do it now. It didn't really feel like divine timing. You know and for something like locs, i just want to feel super grounded in the decision. I want to feel ready and if i'm going to be growing them out for who knows how long i want to make sure that i'm starting at a good place and again in the perfect timing. I also was just kind of feeling the short, because i'm turning 25 next month, it's getting grown and sexy. I don't know why people always say like when you turn 25, like life just shifts. I don't know if it's true or not, but i haven't been more excited for a birthday in a while, because i feel like i have grown so much this year. I have gotten so much more clear on myself and my decisions and my journey um. Even the things that i'm a little bit cloudy on still it's it's not something that is like holding me back, yeah, i'm like so happy and i'm so happy with my hair too. So if you guys want to see the whole process of how i got here, i'm going to include like some blog footage and also a short tutorial on this. Look. Love, love, love! You guys always thank you for always supporting me through all of my changes, i'm hoping to stand as an example of what it looks like to just not care people think it's definitely easier said than done, especially in my position as an influencer, because my job is For people to like me almost, but i want to be liked by the right people, i want to be um an inspiration to the right people and i feel like again, like i said in my other video, if i'm truly standing in what i believe. In my truth, then, the right people, which are you guys watching me, will get something out of it. Even if i don't have hair you know what i mean. I want to be more than the beauty stuff, so yeah, let's get into the tutorials, so i am in cvs up and down the aisles. I cannot remember the last time i actually was looking for a relaxer to purchase. I found it all the way down here by itself, i'm thinking about just doing the kids relaxer, because my hair doesn't really need much. Maybe i should get this one. I don't know man, i think i'm just gon na get the kids one. Okay, okay, okay and i don't really have a lot of time. So i'm about to block my hair. Well, if the kids won just because i don't know, i don't have a reason. Oh my god, this is like so nostalgic. The creamy crack neutralizing shampoo, the liquid activator, it's like weird, because it's like exciting but scary at the same time, it's exciting because i never thought i would do this again. So the fact that i'm doing it again is like the only reason why it's scary, because i don't know how it's gon na look, especially because my hair is just not it - doesn't, have a shape at all right now. Do i have any vaseline. I don't think i have vaseline, i don't have vaseline, but i do have this um technically, it's a hair growth style, but it has a very similar texture to vaseline. So i'm just going to apply this to protect my edges. It smells really good too. Just gon na, hopefully i don't up my scalp, i'm gon na put on these gloves, i'm about to relax. My hair y'all probably think i'm insane like. Why do i even follow me for a activator into creamy crack? I don't know why i thought it used to smell, but it doesn't smell that bad, maybe because it's the kids one i don't know, then i also, i think i have to put the oil in here too. The oil in i literally put this tiny hole. Okay, so for fine hair, it says application about five minutes and then you got ta leave it on for about um six minutes. I definitely don't want this on my eyebrows, i'm about to just use my hands. Did i get them? I'M really relaxing my hair, like i should have put something on my neck, i'm about to be a relaxed mommy. Oh my god, i'm like so nervous but excited. I definitely want to get it off my ears. I did put some stuff on my ears, but i'm just gon na rinse this out, i'm actually gon na rinse this out in the shower, so i'm gon na be back to show you guys how it looks. Oh my gosh, you guys my hair is really uneven. Like these random pieces are super long so excited when i was rinsing it out, it kind of felt like i didn't, have any hair like i was kind of nervous. This is going to look so. Okay, as you guys will see, the final look uh at another time, i'm not really sure when, but i got ta play around with it. Okay, so the clip that you guys saw last was actually a few days ago. I went to the barber and i had him just kind of like shape up the back a little bit, so you can see the back. Is nice and shaped up um. The top is still a little bit uneven, but i wanted to keep some hair at the top so yeah i went to the spot barber shop here in fort lauderdale, literally just went to a random person. Y'All know how i am just had to do something quick. I don't really worry too much about trusting the person or whatever. As long as i feel like you know, i like their work, which i always look up their work on instagram. First, then you know what's the worst that could happen. You know i mean he could have messed up my hair, but i was bald anyway. You know i didn't actually like shape it up. Myself just wanted to make that clear. So now i just got off the shower and i didn't wash my hair. I used some of my favorite products from curlsmith, so i use the wash and scrub detox probiotic first. This is just like a shampoo really good for scalp health. I feel like whenever i go bald. I go back to like these scalp products because they just feel so good on my scalp and then i also conditioned with the curl smith post by calming conditioner. This has hyaluronic acid peppermint oil lavender tea tree, and it makes my scalp feel so good. The main reason why i like using it is because it makes my scalp feel so tingly and i feel it afterwards like. I still feel it right now, as i'm talking to you guys so yeah, just a really quick and easy wash my hair's still a little bit damp, and even though i don't have much hair and it's also not natural anymore. I still like to use the agile beauty, blue tansy, leave-in conditioning styler, because it does help with strength and everything, and you know my hair is permed so, and it also just smells really good like when your hair is this short. You don't really have to be particular about the products that you use, but since i have this one and it's really good, why not use it and i'm not only put like two pumps in just because i'm gon na put more products on top, and i don't Want it to like, you, know, flake or anything, so now i'm going to use this tresemme extra hold volumizing mousse this foam well, mousse is so good, like it literally had my hair slicked down for days. It'S so good, so i'm just gon na pump a good amount into my hand and literally just slap it on. I like to put quite a lot just to make sure i get a good hold and then, of course, the back. The back doesn't really have much hair, so i'm really only doing this for the front, so that gets the hair sleek and then to get the little wavy. Look. I'M just gon na do like some fake finger waves. I call them fake finger waves because i feel like they're, not really finger waves. Alright, so now that that's on i'm going to use this wrap tail comb, i'm actually going to move you guys a little bit closer, because i need to get close to the mirror. For this i first just like to comb all the hair in the same direction. I'M saying it's like i do this all the time. This is literally like my third time doing this since, but i kind of feel like a pro. My hair is so uneven. Okay and before i actually do the finger waves, i'm gon na take a little bit of this tresemme um hair gel. It'S like their max hold number five. So i'm just gon na put a little bit like like that much on the front, because this is going to help mold the shape, don't know if it'll work on natural hair. So i know somebody's gon na ask me that i haven't done it on natural hair. I'Ve only done it since i burned my hair, so i can't really say how it will work. I'M going to start on this side and just kind of comb, put my finger down and then push the hair over and then do the same thing. Comb finger push and you can see it kind of creates the wave and i'm just repeating that same thing. All over so comb push hold comb, push, hold comb push hold and in the front i just kind of swivel it any direction it wants to go because it's the hair in the front is a lot shorter too. I also feel like my hair has grown and i also kind of like it to go different directions. I don't know why i feel like that, just looks so cute and then in the back, since i don't really have a lot of hair. I don't really do anything i just kind of comb it backwards. The hairs on the sides can kind of be swiveled a little bit, but like back here, i pretty much just comb it down right so now to set it. I'M just going to put on my um do-rag, also super important to make sure that you don't put the do-rag side with the string on the inside, because then you'll have a giant line in the center, so always flip it inside out. So the long part is on the outside and then just put it on it's like the quickest easiest thing ever and then typically, i leave it on overnight to really sit. But since i want to show you guys the end result today, i'm going to just blow dry, really quick with my dyson and i'm using the concentrator attachment okay. So i am going to go. Do my makeup and then i'll come back to show you guys. The final look all right guys, so i am back just took off the do-rag. As you can see, we got some waves waves on slim, okay. I do want to change the front a little bit, though, because it looks kind of blunt i like it when it has like some swivel to it. I never used to play with baby hairs a whole lot, but with this style i think it looks so cute. I don't really have a technique for this, i'm literally just kind of putting it in different directions. That'S it! I absolutely love it. I feel like i'm, giving a lot of people said on instagram and i'm giving like 90s nia long vibes. That is such a compliment. I don’t like feeling restricted either I’m kinda in the reverse scenario that you’re in; I’ve had my locs for 3 years, and now I want to shave my head. And I’m not gonna lie, it made me feel insecure! I think black women as a whole feel the pressure of “sticking to one thing” when that’s just not realistic!! Girl I went from wearing boring but skirts to now developing a style that I’m curating myself. And I have faced so much criticism .. ridicule even .. from my peers around me (especially working in a corporate setting. You know how that goes ).. this makes me happy. It makes my inner child happy. Because I’m not alone in finding myself and starting over! Wishing you the best of luck
