Do you blow dry, your gray, natural hair? If you do what's your favorite blow dryer in this video, i'm going to be sharing with you, my experience with the revlon one step, hair dryer on my gray, natural hair. This is what the dryer looks like from the front. It is a mixture of a dryer as well as it has bristles, so you see where the holes are. That'S where the air comes out of and as you're going to see here from the side again and a little closer picture of the bristles on the bottom here you're going to see the controls, which is three temperature controls, there's cool low and high to blow dry. My hair, instead of using my favorite kinky curly leave-in, i use the melanin softening leave-in conditioner because of having short hair. I rarely use clips and i mostly use my hands to separate my hair whenever i'm styling it now, if you have longer hair, i would suggest definitely having some clips to be able to help you to separate your hair when you use heat on your hair, do You use a heat protectant. I found this one on amazon from hsi professionals and, as you can see, it is a liquid thermal protectant and i like that that helps it to not weigh your hair down. So much so i made sure to saturate my gray hair with as much heat protectant as possible. I haven't really straightened my hair or used heat on it in a long time, so i wanted to make sure i had less likely to damage my hair um by using heat again like i said, because my hair is short. I don't really use clips, even though really would have been helpful, so i'm just taking a small section of hair and i'm going to make sure that i saturate that thermal protectant in there i put it in half like i said i made sure it was a Short piece, i was nervous, so my first mistake was not making sure that my hair was fully detangled before i use this because, like i said it does have bristles, and so what i started to see that i needed to do also, is, i think, i'll, let My hair air dry a little bit, not completely um, but i noticed that if i just let the the air, i think i put it on a low or high to just let it dry a little bit and then i use the tension method to kind of Like stretch it from the top and middle, and then i went on low so that i could get to the ends, but as you can see, my hair is very, very coily, so it wasn't too bad once it did start to go through. But i noticed for my hair because it is so coily um. My hair didn't come out as smooth as i would have liked um with this dryer, and you notice i'm doing quite a bit of passes on here, and i don't know if you see that scraggly um piece that one strand that's coming out there. So i tried to use this also as an opportunity to do a bit of a trim like a really small trim, it's hard to trim your own hair and especially if it's coily, i thought i would stretch my hair this way so that i could get a Better trim, but i noticed that it wasn't able to give me as much of a stretch as i thought it would be able to. So i did do a little twist to be able to maintain that stretch that i just got with the blow dryer, and i decided you know what honestly from this first twist i was like. I don't think this is going to work, but i said you know what let me try. Another section see what happens and if you guys saw my last video, i talked about something that can help us on our gray hair journey, which is the mindset of learning to let go. Let go of things that are not working for us and things that maybe we expect that our gray hair should be able to do, but it's letting us know no, and so i can see already from looking at this video. The second mistake i made for this. Second piece is, i didn't make it small enough, it was too big. So then, i took a little smaller of a piece, but i noticed the bristles were either too far apart or it just wasn't helping um with my ends and also like i said i didn't make sure that i detangled very well towards the end, so it was Able to stretch my hair, but not to the point that i thought it would be able to so i don't know if that was the temperature that i put it on or you know i've tried blow dryers with comb attachments before um, but definitely once i did The second piece i was like yeah - i am not doing this another thing that i struggle with right. Um as you can see, i'm sweating, so my hair is wet from it being uh washed, as well as i'm sweating. So again, using this uh blow dryer. It did stretch my hair, but it was not what i thought it was gon na be, and so i said you know what again, when you see that your hair is telling you something different than what you want. You get so much more peace. When you stop fighting - and you just start going with what it's telling you so it was at this point that i said: yeah no, not gon na do this. For the other side, i decided to use the camille rose, curl maker on jackie's, don't shrink gel and do my tried and true wash and go. I have learned many times with my hair that when, as they say, you don't beat them, you join them and allow my hair to do what it loves to do best, which is coil up. I have much better results than when i try to straighten it now. If you keep watching, you are going to see another time that i straighten my hair and i was able to make it work a little bit better than this particular time. But this was an example of once i saw that it wasn't working. I wasn't going to go and waste more energy and get the other side to straighten. I decided you know what let me go back to what works and i love the results that came out and, of course, i'm happy that i didn't waste my energy continuing to try to get my hair to do something that i didn't want to do now. You'Re going to see a twist out on stretched hair, i used a lot of body, wrap foam mousse to be able to give me some definition with this style, so i'm gon na be letting you guys know in the future. What i use to straighten my hair, i'm not sure if you see the difference in the amount of stretch i was able to achieve compared to using the revlon one step dryer. However, i notice with my hair being tapered like this. It is a little bit harder to get certain styles, because my sides, as well as the back, that's really short, it's hard to get them to straighten unless you're using a blow dryer with a comb attachment. But i decided you know what let me try a twist out on my hair, while it stretched because i notice, when i do twists, i also use the obaya naturals custard for my ends to get those to curl up on their own just a little bit on The bottom, so when i do twists on wet hair, i get way more shrinkage than obviously, when i do it on stretched hair, and i notice that my like, i said because my hair is so coily. It just loves to you know, take that definition and stay there and not give me as much stretch, so you guys are going to see this really quick process here of me twisting my hair. Another reason why i'm so happy i have short hair as well as not coloring, my hair anymore. If you don't know, i deal with some chronic health conditions and just this little bit of twist that you're going to see that i did here, i think i did maybe 20 twists all around you're going to see that or well you didn't see how much my Arms hurt afterwards when i was finished with this style, so i just love, as you saw in the previous part of this video. I just do my wash and go, and it lasts me for at least two weeks, whereas doing something like this is different. It does give me some stretch, but it doesn't have the longevity as far as you know me having to restyle, or you know, redo my hair, and let me know if this is the same for you. I noticed that, even though, when i straightened my hair this time around that it it had uh, you know some nice length to it. My hair felt a whole lot drier than when my hair is, you know in a wash and go. There are some of you who don't do wash and goes. You do. You know strictly twist outs, but for those of you who are struggling with the dryness, do you have dryness when you're, when you have a wash and go or um with a twist out i'd love to know like when you feel when your hair feels the driest Um, because for me personally, it feels the driest when it's stretched out like this. I'M able to put something in it to give it some moisture, but it it does not feel moisturized. For that long. Look at that white streak and how much it's grown. The mousse was great because it was lightweight when you have your hair straight like this too. You want to be careful with how much water brace products that you put in your hair, because obviously your hair will revert and shrink some more, i'm just showing you this. First twist here and then you guys are going to see here that i am unraveling the twist now this is what happens. Um again, i found that my hair was able to keep that really nice definition, but look at the webbing that happened in the roots. So i had like that's a good definition right there, but, as i start to um separate it more, it gets frizzier and frizzier. So that's another thing with my grey natural hair. I noticed whenever i want to straighten it. I will see a lot of the complaints that you guys talk about when it comes to frizziness, and you know your gray hair. Having a mind of its own, i just kind of sped up you're, seeing the last two pieces that i put out there and i decided you know what i'm going to keep my bang nice and defined like this, but the rest going back to a wash and Go now, this is also something interesting, i'm using the obayan naturals custard, which is different than a gel. It'S like it's a little bit heavier than a gel, and it has a little bit of cream in it as well. So i put some water to help give my hair the stretch that it needs, and then i put the custard on top of it, so that i could have some kind of curl definition and usually even when i had before my hair went gray. And i had a failed style, my go-to, for that would be a puff and like a bang situation. So that's what i figured i would do so. I know that me putting the water in the flare saw is definitely going to give me a little bit of shrinkage, but i i got this cute um headband, it's like silky, which helps to not like break my edges. Um. I think i got at my beauty. Supply store, but you see my hair has some nice volume to it it having been stretched. The only thing is, it doesn't have definition and i'm all i love definition, so i just wet it a little bit and then i put um like a palm size amount. Um of custard in my hair and just kind of put it through so that it could do a little bit of you know defining in there and then with the um with my fingers. You know just put that out. There give it a little shake to separate the coils a little bit and then, as you can see in the front, i'm just going to keep um. You know i did like four little twists and just keep it that way. So, with my hair straightened this way i was able to still kind of salvage the hairstyle. Another thing i like to do if my hair is stretched like this is to do updos and you're going to see two or three different styles that i was able to achieve with my hair um stretched so yeah, i'm learning to let go of what i think. My hair should do and just listen to what it says it will do. So here are the updos that i was able to use with some braiding hair gray, braiding hair. I was able to put it into my ponytail and wrap it around and put a little head wrap that i got from amazon around it to cover the tapered sides in the back of my hair. Here is another updo style with um curls in it, and i was able to achieve two bun type styles, with my hair stretched and put into a ponytail and that ponytail i did get it is a drawstring ponytail from my local beauty supply store. So i hope you enjoyed this video. I thank you guys so much for watching. Please put any questions that you have at in the comments and i will be doing an upcoming video, showing you guys the many different hairstyles that i've tried with my grey natural hair. Until then i'll see you on the next video bye,

GymBarberella *: I love this dryer… I use it on low or cool. I don’t use heat protectant because it’s on low or cool. It takes 10 mins to dry my whole head. It doesn’t get your hair really straight but I use it to stretch my hair for braids and/or twist.

DivaNo1: I love the different styles you showed. Looking good like always!

Naturally Graysful: As always I thank you for watching, taking the time to comment and for supporting my channel. I appreciate you

Starr M Mc: My hair always dries out after blow drying even with leave in conditioner applied. Not sure if the REVAIR dryer is different (I watched Ellae's video), I would love to try this dryer since my hair is long but it is quite expensive, big and bulky.

KLa Bell: Now that it is getting colder, I do blow dry my hair slightly but only with a diffuser. Like you, whenever I would try to blow dry my hair without the diffuser, I would end up sweating it back. So far, my hair only likes wash and go styles. If I try a twist out, I am convinced that I can hear my hair laughing and I leave the occasional straightened styles to the professionals. I love your up do styles. Thank you for the new ideas.

Christine Taylor: I love the ponytail you got from your beauty supply store. Do you remember what brand it was and the color?

never too old to learn: Thanks for taking the time to share....

kiaros: Stop blowing my hair but I air dry my hair then use a curling iron

Sherry Keener: Beautiful

Kay Seminomadic: I tried to straighten my grey hair and it didn't work either. I guess 4c grey hair is harder to straighten?

Carol Sessoms: Very pretty

Vanessa Mannings: Hello I still think we use to many products. I watch your videos so many products all the time. Tell me what are we accomplishing? We are spending to much money on this and that.

Paige gang: It took too long to get to the video
