Tis the season to drink eggnog from a chalice am i right. Eggnog is the nectar of the gods. It'S our hair in it ah, and I will not listen to any naysayers hello. So what is another dreary day outside, but it is finally December. So that means it's time to get festive, Oh for Thanksgiving. I made a couple hair pieces literally in ten minutes. The morning before we went to our family's house and a lot of people are asking if I recorded the process or if there's gon na, be a video about how to make these. So I decided to do a holiday version and a winter version. It'S gon na punctuate the end of every sentence with a sip of eggnog. So for this I did two different hairpiece sets and then I made a bow for my beret. I will show you have if you like, watching people struggle with hot glue strings you're. In luck, so the first step that I made are these babies very wintry and very foresty. I wanted to go festive, but not overly Christmassy, so the what this round. So I started out with these fake plants from Michaels and then these hair combs and I started off by clipping off all the little bits and pieces that I wanted, including some pinecones and the berries and then laid them out and generally planned. How I wanted these to look and then our hot glue gun I wanted to make sure I did a couple layers of leaves so that I had a bit of volume to it and then took the berries off their stems. So I knew it would be easier to glue them all individually and hoe God the glue gun strings. No, please! No! No! No! So then I glued on the little berries and repeated the process for the other one. So I really like how these came out. They'Re a little unruly, but I kind of like that. I kind of like that. I look like I just walked out of a forest so for the second pair and went with a more Christmassy vibe, I couldn't find any fake Holly plants at Michaels, which I was a little bit surprised. So I did what I could so again. I started out with these hair combs and with ribbon, and then this plant from Michael's, including this absolute gem again, I took the little leaves off of the plant, so I can glue them on individually and then I ended up using the berries from a different plant That I got at Michaels just because I thought these are a little bit prettier, so I glue it on the leaves in a few different layers and then the berries went in their place and then I decided to make a little bow out of the ribbon. I'M not sure if there's a better way to do this, but this is just how I did it and then good on the bow and pretty much done for the third little accessory. I made a bow for my beret and it's just attached with a safety pin. So I can take it off whenever I got the idea to put a bow on my beret from a clotheshorse on instagram, and if you don't follow her, you definitely should, but she made a post about having boats on her. But right now you have this. For this I started off with a braid that I already owned and some ribbon I had laying around along with a mini wreath and many presents from Michaels. So again I tried to make a little bow and glue it together. I'M not sure if there's an easier way to do this, but that's what I did on the little wreath and then decided where the presents were gon na go before I glue those on as well to attach it. I used this big ol safety pin and created a bit of a glue bed on the back of the bow and then rested the safety pin upwards so that it dried like that. So this, I think, looks okay from certain angles, but I think I used too rigid of a ribbon. It'S basically like kind of like a papery ribbon which makes sense because it was just what he had lying around the house. So I think it came from packaging as I'm sorry, I'm the kind of person that doesn't throw away packaging supplies if I like them so in the future. I would probably use a more fabric e ribbon for this, but I do like the way that the little presence and the wreath came out, so that is it. These are very, very simple, little projects, so I hope that you guys enjoyed watching and that if you want to try these definitely tag me and let me know how they came out cuz. I love that kind of stuff, happy December, happy holiday, wintertime. It'S the time of year, where you just get in your PJs, sit in front of the fire and drink some eggnog right but anyways. I love you guys with your newer, also this channel and I will see you in the next video bye e. Welcome to another episode of it's rainy out, so Rachel's house is a hit of Darkness shirt. This shirt and this hairstyle just makes me look like a rich housewife drinking eggnog in the corner and secretly plotting the demise of all my house guests. There'S nice little kisses. Very tender hi there, my eggnog, I'm just a quasi eggnog drinking pardon, my french, I'm just passionate a couple Fred. So the first set that I made is this very wintry. Looking little pair, Wow

Rachel Maksy: HUULLLOO, couple things: YES, I did indeed misspell "voilà" and wrote 'viola' instead. So let's just accept the fact that I'm virtually shouting the name of an instrument at you. And secondly, I do have a couple tutorials on this hairstyle that I'll link in the description!

Jess Sabulsky: For bows, take your piece of ribbon that you want to make your whole bow out of and make it a loop with the tails crossing one over the other, if you want a bigger loop your tails will be shorter and if you want longer tails your loop will be smaller. Then take some hot glue and put it on the inside center of your loop and press it where the tails cross. Hopefully have everything lined up before you press it. Then take a smaller piece of ribbon and wrap it around the bow where the tails cross to get a more traditional bow look. Hope that helps! I'm used to making dog bows with rubber bands for my job but it should translate well with hot glue

Marianne Neufeld: This is the highlight of my day! You look so gorgeous in that outfit I'm definitely gonna have to try to make some of these; they're absolutely fantastic!

Maria Maj: - ’Tis Christmas! She said, with an egg nog in her hand and a smile on her face, but nontheless with a big Ouija board cushion right behind her, secretly wiping away a tear of grief over the spoopy season that left her much too soon. She knew in her mind that it was gone, but never would her heart forget.

Savannah Upchurch: Rachel, I think you should try out this trend in Japan called "Mori Girl Fashion." I'm just starting to get into it and I think it would be really really cool if you did a video about it since it is very vintage and delicate and (I think) perfect for you. By the way I love your channel so much and have been watching every video for over a year now!! I cried when you won the NYX face awards. Lol.

Poppy H: I need to see that weird berry sausage incorporated into an accessory

Arie: Your top is absolutely gorgeous and I love this idea!! I just need to get used to doing the Gibson tuck hairstyle pray for your young Padawan

Victoria Yirka: There’s fake mistletoe that would look super cute as hair combs! It’s at Target in the Chip and Joanna Gain’s Magnolia section! I would consider making something out of it but I hung it up in my front door! Ugh Rachel, these are so cute and so are you!!

Rebecca Carroll: Happy Holidays! Love the wreath brooch its v cute :)

Brittany: Ah I love all of these accessories, they're so cute and festive

Liz Von Villas: They're all so cute! I love them! And you crack me up with all that eggnog sipping! I'd love more DIY vids like this :) Also I looove your blouse, wow!

Alexandra Hargett: All of these are so cute!! I'll have to try them for Christmas!

Chantal Seguin: These are so cute and simple. I'll definitely be making the forest inspired clips for my next holiday party. Great tutorial.

Saoirse Sigurðardóttir: I like that these were so stunning but simple. I definitely want to make my own version!

Onna Lynn: Suuuper adorable! I have all the stuff to make similar items, and ive been planning on making some for a while now! So awesome! I love it all...including the bow!

Areli M.: Was having a crappy day and your video cheered me up. Very cute, festive and inexpensive hair accessories. Love this idea of DIY vids, Rachel! ⛄

Carmen Wong: Those are so cute!! I love the festive hair clips

Finding AWay Farmstead: Love both sets of combs and the inspiration to wear a beret with a Gibson girl style hair, I love doing my hair like that-so quick and easy!

Frederike Fischer: They look super awesome and now I want to do season themed combs for every season and festivity there is ^^! Also funny that you mention Aclotheshorse in this video because she's the one that brought me to your account. She asked which clothing style we would wear if there weren't any social (or practical) limits and I said "A Mix of Hobbit Shire Chic (but with Converse instead of hairy feet) and Hogwarts student". She shared my comment with pictures of you and your account and since then I follow your IG account :D (and since a few weeks also here on youtube, because I wasn't a big youtube watcher before).

Angela Sanchez: Hello Rachel! I love your videos! Thank you so much for being genuine & kind, it makes vintage fashion feel so much more approachable. I was just curious how long your hair is & how it is cut? It always looks wonderful Thanks!

Calyope: Making these TOday. Thank you Rachel! I wear combs everyday and I needed a splash of that eggnog class you were handing out. :)

Briar H: Aaaah I love it!!! I just got my first vintage reproductions and wanna follow your DIYs ❤️

Karsia J: you’re so cute rachel! thank you for these ideas, i’m definitely going to try these ideas for christmas ❤️

E: Absolutely beautiful ideas! I'm a huge crafter and have worked a lot with making bows, I think your bow on your beret would look a little more finished if the ends were cut shorter at an angle, or shorter with upside down "V" shaped ends. The "V" shaped is a little tricky to master but I see it on a lot of Christmas bows. Your videos are so unique and I'm happy to see there's other people my age who appreciate history.

emmxx565: these would be so beautiful for a winter wedding!

DesDiamondS: I have been binge watching your videos the past 3 days and I love your channel! I went out the maybelline lipstick you recommended and I LOVE IT, I think I'm finally gonna start using lipstick on the regular. I'm so glad Jessica recommended you on Instagram!!! ❤❤❤

Dindrane W.: I love these, and now I'm going to be obsessed with making them for every holiday and season, including holidays of other nations, in order to have an excuse to make more.

Axelia Ahlström: I love this kind of DIY Rachel, more please! <3

TheClosetHistorian: Super cute and festive! I love floral/foliage hair combs, I miss combs the most now that I have shorter hair now! Also I agree, chalices are most excellent :)

Haley Potter: These are so cute!! I have to do one of these to wear at my holiday parties!

Gia Smith: I was waiting for that last Michael Scott “nooo!” And you delivered. Thank you Rachel! I loved all your creations.

Kayla Johnson: This was an awesome video idea! I'm always trying to make cute accessories with random stuff around the house (doesn't always work out so well though) Id love to see more videos like this if you're up for it!

Katelyn Cordell: We really need a TLC series called "My Vintage Life: A Rachel Masky Reality" I would totally put that on my DVR and never delete them.

Amanda Lutz: Super cute! Little tip from a florist: give the ribbon a twist on the parts that sit in the middle and then fasten them with wire before you glue on the fake knot. It gives the loops more volume and helps them stand up straighter. Also, if you're using one sided ribbon it makes sure the pretty side is always facing out!

Sophia N: Love this DIY stuff! More please! ❤️❄️

meredithquinn: these are beautiful!! thank you for this video. i cant wait to make these for myself

Rachael Nielsen: I loved this! And the bloopers at the end. Loving your new direction <3 Keep it up!

kridder1018: Mmm. Egg Nog! Best part of this time of the year. It makes getting together with family worth it, just to drink all their egg nog! Frodo helping was the cutest thing ever. I swear you could make a video of all your cute Frodo comments and it would be awesomeness. Cute combs! They have inspired me to make something wintery/christmasy for my teenager's hair. She loves to do cute little updos and stuffs so they would look great on her. Great video!

Retro Elizabeth: Love this!!! Making these ASAP!! You are so creative!!

aestheticallyaspiring: Oh wow these are neat ideas! I’ve been trying to incorporate more holiday goodness into my vintage wardrobe and didn’t know how till now, thank you!☺️

Gwen349: Love those! Will definitely have to try to make myself some.

Toothie Tooth: I really loved the Autumn combs but I couldn't find any acorns so I had to make some out of foam clay lol

Вання: I’ll do this for the upcoming Christmas party with my cousin ♥️

daphne cui: The hair style, the shirt, the dress! (sigh) I love everything about this outfit!

PaintandFreckles: Cute hair accessories are my weakness I love these

Neko_doll: I recently bought a plaid Blazer and I'm so happy.... doesn't have anything to do with the video but now you know.

AskSeekKnock: I did this same thing the beginning of autumn and I’m obsessed with the ones I made! I’ve been wanting to do some Christmas ones too!

Lina E: I’m literally so glad that I found your channel recently (and am also SUPER glad that you’ll be going full time with this.) You know how The Great British Baking Show is SO good because it just feels like a sweet break from reality? That is also your channel for me! Thank you for all of the hard work that you put into this. I love that you’re doing something different from everyone else. Also, I am 100% going to try out the pine/branch/berry hair comb!

Sarah: I have to make some of those hair combs! I love your idea of using the "miniature" series at Michael's for decor. That itty bitty wreath is too cute!

Kendra Pedersen: These are so cute! I would love a vintage favourites or basics video about accessories. Brooches, jewelry hair pieces, scarves, etc.

Triateyal: Oh I so want to make something like this. Thanks for the adorable idea!

pay1370: Omg yes, i love you and your hair pieces. Their gorgeous!

TheChazzmander: These are adorable! Regarding the beret bow you could always just cut the papery ribbon shorter if you want it to lay different. Just a thought!

Vicky Bermudez: These turned out so well! Muy adorable ☺️

Katena Wolfenstein: THANK YOU FOR FINALLY GETTING ME IN CHRISTMAS MOOD WITH THIS! And i neeeeeeed to make those

Wicked Hazel: This was fun and inspiring, thank you for sharing this. ❄️☺️ And I LOVE your channel’s new profile thumbnail! Lol!!

Sarah Martin: Watching people struggle with hot glue strings is my jam! But seriously. I love these. Thanks for the inspiration. ;)

K Long: Yaasss!! Loved this! As I have a retro holiday party to attend wooop!! Also eggnog+coffee= my whole holiday season

Laura Westenra: I have those goblets, too. I love them! I also love this video and your dirndl blouse!

Jessica: Loving the direction ur channel is going! I'm def gonna make some of these when im done with finals <3

Jessica Kavin: My favorite easy way to make bows for crafts and things is to make two "bunny ears" and use an overhand knot to tie them together. Then you just tweak it until you like the size.

Mary Sullivan Frasier: Hi, Rachel! I love all of the hair accessories! Especially the bow on the beret! I wish I looked good in hats, but I've never been able to find a single style that doesn't make me look goofy. LOL My daughter is just like you. She's always looked awesome in any style that she's ever tried on. So jealous! Oh, and... just thought I'd share a quick tip about tying bows that I learned years ago that doesn't require any hot glue. I've always called it the bunny ears method and because it's not as easy to explain as it is to watch and learn from a visual demonstration, I went looking for a video that I could have you watch. It took me a few tries to find someone here on YouTube who called it the same thing that I do, but lo and behold, I finally found her!! Her channel name is Inspiring Inkin' and the video title is "How To Tie A Perfect Bunny Ears Bow". I'd have just left you the link, but I know that a lot of people prefer not to just click on random links left by folks in the comments section. (myself included) Thanks for the lovely tutorial! I doubt I'll be decorating any hats, but I'm definitely going to try a comb or possibly a large barrette to put my hair up with this holiday season! And just as a bit of an aside... may I just say that I was almost giddy to hear you pronounce the word voila properly!? I know... I'm sure that it must seem a bit silly to get so excited over the correct pronunciation of a word, but it's just one of several random - and some might even say 'odd' - little quirks that I've had for as far back as I can remember. I literally cringe every time I hear someone say "wallah!" and much to my dismay, people pronounce it that way far more often than not. My husband (lovingly) refers to me as Madame Grammarpants. HaHaHa!

Katelyn Jacobi: These are cute! I especially love the forest sprite vibes

Poppy: These are so cute✨ Never thought of embellishing my berets... Ok, have to get all this at the dollar store

Annakin Vader: You're so crafty! I made some hair combs that were very similar to those for my fall themed wedding. I made a bunch for the entire wedding party and then made a flower crown for my flower girl. Micheal's does have the best fake plants but I found a surprising amount of nice options at my dollar store. I also made some centrepieces for my tables and put lights in the vases. Oh! And the boutonnieres were just fake leaves and other plants with twine on the bottom. Love the crafting videos!

Britischen Adligen: I love the beret look! And I love that you've mentioned @aclotheshorse - she's along with you my favorite Instagrammer! ❤

Miss P'tite Geek: hello! What an interesting video! I really liked those diy, they were really cute! I am a bit disappointed at myself for not seeing your tutorial sooner, I was going for this kind of hairstyle this christmas and I had to improvise... I'll make the beret accessorise for sure though! It is a creative maniere to custumize your hat in a non-definitive way. :)

Dandy: Very helpful! So hyped for the holidays!!

Amelia White: You're giving me the very strong ghost of Christmas past vibes with your outfit and hair accessories <3 but now cuter and more vintage.

Retro Elizabeth: Your hair is so pretty!! I really love what you did with it!!

Gigi Luna: Love your bows. The dollar store and 99 cent store have great stuff to make holiday haircombs. I lived for Michael's but nowadays I have been finding cuter stuff there. I might try this and tag you on Instagram

Beverley Butterfly: Awwww that Frodo kiss!! Loved these I wish I could make pretties for my hair like hair bands and things but I’m not allowed to use a glue gun....wonder if superglue would do it??? Ooooh now I’m excited xx

Natmari: Such a festive and creative DIY. You gave me some inspiration. I want to make so many beautiful hair combs now. I can never find them when I go to the thrift store or the ones online are too bridal looking. Where did you buy the comes? If they came in a pack, how many? Great video :-) I like your wreath broach on your blouse. You are so darn festive and I'm here for it.

Elizabeth's creations: Oh my gosh gurl, love your creations, I just made some Christmassy hairpieces too in a video, then I saw your video. I thought your plants were real! I love that you so intricately used the berries individually, beautiful result. And OH GOD NO THE GLUE GUN STRINGS. & THE FINGER BURNS! The thing of nightmares! Hahaha.

Marcie Demangos: Awww these are so sweet and festive totally creative ideas

PacakeQueen: Loved the tutorial :) you've inspired me to wear the vintage enamel hair combs I have. Are there any other hairstyles that you feel lend themselves well to hair combs? My pinterest searches have not been particularly fruitful

Morgan B.: Drinking Eggnog and plotting the demise of all your house guests is what I imagine every 1940s/1950s housewife was doing when the holidays came around, so it is what I do as well lol. Also, the bloopers at the end of every video make my freakin' day.

Anna-May Moon: I LOVE these I have still yet to crack that hair style but I've been wanting to play around with hair combs so I'll see how many updos I can pull off that have room for combs

SasquatchKiddo: Can’t wait to grow out my hair so I can try these!!

Flutie2891: Thanks for this! I wanted to do something crafty for the holiday to get into the ~Christmas spirit~ and this will be just the thing. Also, what lipstick are you wearing that can stay put through so many eggnog sips and puppy kisses??!

Ana Carolina Sabino: Yes ♡,♡♡♡♡ thanks Rachel, this gave me several ideas ♡♡ Ps:Frodo wants a Ribbon too XD♡♡♡

maricella888: Love the comb idea. Maybe a satin or velvet ribbon would be less rigid. I'm still amazed at your editing skills. A DIY video from you is cinematic!

Marjorie Thompson: Adorable!!! I love it. Also as someone who took French and a musician, I noticed that instead of “voilà” you typed “viola” and I’m only pointing it out because it made me happy! Your hair accessories are indeed quite viola.

S M: Love your DIY'S! #MerryChristmas!

Laura Nelson: As someone with a pixie cut, I would love if you did some videos on how to style short hair in a vintage way

LoveTheresaRae: I really love your videos! You’re so sweet and so funny! I’m so glad I found you! Happy Holidays!

Elizabeth Hines: Here because fell in LOVE with your hair piece in your recent video!! FESTIVE VIBEZ <3

Lala: I believe this is my favorite video thus far. I love your body language and just how you present yourself. The eggnog bit kept me laughing, finally someone else who drinks untraditional things in goblets. XD

thevelvetunderground: I love your blouse! I don't own a glue gun as I am not a very crafty person, but I think the time has come to buy one!

claudia tulp: Totally gonna make a christmas/festive hair for my new red velvet collectif dress

Dixie Crowe: I had such a crummy day, then you posted. I have to remember not to drink while watching or it will come out of my nose! Thanks for another fabulous video with tips, hilarity, snarky asides, and wild assertions like "...drinking eggnog in the corner, secretly plotting the demise of all my house guests." You are a comedic gem!!!

Clara Stahlbaum: you little artsy & creative beauty!! thanks for the ideas :)

Diiinka: The idea is great, your performance even better and Frodo's insertions are indubitably the best! Love you all! ♥

Tina Bambina: The hair combs look great with how you have your hair , I may try that this December X

*Ariel*: Oh my god this is brilliant, what a holiday queen!

The Glamour Ghoul: Lovely little holiday DIY. Made me desperately want egg nog, though!

Indie-Annie Jones: Thank you so much this is exactly what I needed for a. Costume. There's a mansion here in Miami that's coming back to life from 1903 and I have this beautiful green dress that I wear but my hairstyle was lacking something this is perfect thank you so much hope you have a very merry Christmas
