Hi everyone and welcome back to my channel today is national donut day and to celebrate. We are going to be making this easy cute little donut, hair clip. This is just an applique that I've hot glued on to a bobby, pin or alligator clip, and you can use this application for all sorts of different projects. But today I'm going to be using it as a cute clip in my hair. So let's go ahead and get started almost cute donut clip I'm going to be using several different colors of yarn. The two base colors you're going to need are a light brown and a baby pink. Now that's going to be for the two pieces, we're working which are the donut base and then the frosting and I'm going to be using lots of scraps of rainbow colors for the rainbow sprinkles. But you can just pick another bright color for the sprinkles you're. Also going to need an H or five millimeter hook that hook, there is a furrow hook in case. Anyone is wondering the yarn I'm using is Lion Brand DIY yarn. These come in cute little mini schemes that are really affordable and you would be able to make many many little donut appliques from these little tiny schemes. So I'm also going to mix and some white. You can use white as be vanilla frosting if you'd prefer to do it that way. Lots of color combinations can be made here and there's all kinds of options so going ahead and getting started, I'm going to start with the donut base piece. So, in order to do that, I'm going to start the slipknot in this brown yarn. I'M going to insert my hook and tighten down the not going to chain 6, so yarn over and pull through two chains and make six chain stitches and then, after you've made 6 we're going to slip stitch into the first stitch next to slipknot. What this is going to do is form a ring, so we now have a little loop of chain stitches, we're going to chain up two and now I'm going to work some double crochets into the center of that ring. If you pull things apart here, you can kind of see that this is forming a loop, we're going to double crochet down into the center of the loop, not into the stitches themself for double crochet, we're going to work, eight double crochets here and what this is Going to do is create a little hole or space in the middle of the doughnut base. Just like a dona would have so we're trying to resemble a real-life donut here. Very, very simple. The donut base is two rounds in the frosting is two rounds, and this is a really really quick, simple project, so you'll be done before you know it using very little yarn and it's a perfect kind of last-minute project for a fun summery, doughnuts activity or any Day really, I mean I would wear this thing every day, so here I've just about finished round one I'm going to slip stitch to join and the first stitch of the round slip stitch we can see here how this is working still has that little loop hole In the middle looks perfect, so now I'm going to go ahead and chain us two to start round two round. Two is very, very simple: if you've gotten this far, you can totally finish this project chain of two and now we're going to work. Two double crochets in each stitch, all the way around so round, one had eight double crochet round. Two will have sixteen double crochets as we're working to in each stitch. All the way around you can see here that I have two stitches in the same spot. We'Re going to just continue with that all the way around. What we're doing essentially here is creating a flat circle. Our circle just has a little hole in the center to make our donut shape. So you can see here how this should be. Looking should be lying. Pretty flat go ahead and continue that all the way around - and you should have something like this now go ahead and slip stitch to join after you've, worked all 16 double crochets. Now we have our basic shape: here's our donut base. We can go ahead and finish off our yarn, so just go ahead and snip lenient tail long enough to weave in yarn over and pull all the way through to finish off, and then we can just weave in these ends and get started on the frosting. I just stick: the heel is my hook there through the hole to make it nice and round. Everything is looking perfect. We just need to weave those ends, but I'm gon na set it aside for now. If you wanted to do vanilla, frosting and could use white yarn here, I'm going to be using my light pink for a strawberry, frosting kind of look lots of different option. You could do chocolate frosting with a darker brown yarn, just lots of different possibilities. So for this frosting we're not going to start with a magic ring like I tried to we're going to start with a foot knot insert your hook, tighten down the knot and we're going to chain up eight, this time so chain, eight one, two, three, four: five: Six, seven and eight now we're going to slip stitch into the first stitch of the row right next to that slip, knot again we're forming a loop. The reason why we're training eight here instead of six like with the donut base and it's just because we want a little bit larger hole in the middle so that everything fits together nicely. Now, I'm continuing in the same manner. We have slip stitch, we've chained up. Two and now we're going to work some double crochets into the loop itself. Here we're going to be working about twelve double crochets, so quite a few more than with a donut face, but I swear everything will fit together perfectly and it won't look. Miss sized this size there's not a word, probably not. I don't know I just made it up. How'S Chad, miss sighs all right, so go ahead and work all of your double crochets here and I'll catch up with you at the end of round one. So now that we've finished round one, we finish our double crochets we're going to slip, stitch to join and now on the one is finished. We can tighten that tail, just a tad and it'll kind of cinch things up a little bit, and if we place this over our dum at base, we can see that it fits in nicely and we can still see a little that Brown poking through the pink Center, so we're just going to work one more round to give us a little bit of a wavy edge. You could stop here if you wanted to have a perfectly round edge, but I'm going to just do a little bit of uneven stitching here. So I've chained up to I'm going to half double crochet in the first stitch and then I'm going to slip stitch in the next, so half double crochet and then slip stitch. I'M going to repeat that half double crochet and slip stitch and just continue that all the way around what this is going to do is create an uneven kind of wavy edge as a cyst. Donut was actually frosted, so just go ahead and continue that all the way around top double crochet and then slip stitch in the next and it'll, give you a bit of a wavy edge at the end of this round. We are going to slip stitch to join, and then it's at this point that we can go ahead and finish off that yarn and this time we're going to want to leave a long tail so that we can sew it down to the donut base. And this is going to fit together nicely with the donut base. Now before we attach the frosting to the donut, we want to go ahead and add on our sprinkles, because this way go ahead and finish off that yarn. This way so go ahead and add the sprinkles to the frosting now and then attach all of the backs of those rainbow colors of yarn will all be hidden between the frosting on the donut. If we sew them together and then apply the rainbow sprinkles you're going to have all of those tails on the back of the donut base, and that's just going to be a little bit less appealing. Looking so we're going to go ahead and do our rainbow sprinkles. Now, before we attach the frosting here to the donut, so go ahead and weave in those ends or snip the ends I'm using this donut clip for myself. So I know it won't get a lot of like hard, wear and tear. So I'm just kind of sniffing the ends not necessarily leaving them all. Now I'm going to take a little hot, pink yarn and my tapestry needle - and this is really really simple - all you're going to do is tie a knot and one end of the yarn. So here I have a nut. I'M going to come up through the back of the frosting and then I'm just going to come down and I'm going to stitch about the length of I say about half an inch, but you can eyeball it. Sprinkles in real life are not all identical sizes and shapes, so it's ok. If things aren't completely perfect, go ahead and sew a few sprinkles on you can do as many or as few sprinkles and you like you can skip the sprinkles altogether totally up to you. I started just here with pink sprinkles and I decide to add several other colors, so I just kind of added them in randomly and did some more of this color and less of that color. When you finish, I just tie the two tails in a knot. I kind of go around the frosting until they meet back up and tie a knot and then trim it. So this is what the back of my frosting is looking like now and my donut after I've waves, all my ends. So now I'm just going to attach these together. You can sew them together or I just placed a good, thick glob of hot glue, all the way around and then just kind of squish them together hiding all of those tails.
