Ribbon Flower Hair Clip Tutorial Diy

Learn to make a ribbon flower hair clip using grosgrain ribbon and an alligator hair clips.

Hi, i'm laura from hair hardware, and today i'm going to show you how to make this really pretty ribbon. Flower hair clip the materials that i'm going to use to make. This flower is three-eighths grosgrain ribbon and the flower that I'm making I'm making with seven petals around the flower and I'm also using two pieces of ribbon to make each petal so to do this. My longer piece, which is the outside of the petal, I'm cutting two four inches long, so you'll need a total of 28 inches of ribbon cut into four inch segments of the piece of ribbon you wan na use for the outside. This is 3/8 grosgrain ribbon. This is an apple green dot print and for the inner piece of the petal, I'm using three inch pieces of solid apple, green grosgrain ribbon, so you'll need a total of 21 inches for this inside piece of the flower. You will also need a needle and thread an alligator clip to attach it to and a center for, the middle of your flower so to get started. What you're going to do is first you're going to plan how you want your petals to be. You could use more pieces of ribbon or you could use just one piece of ribbon shorter pieces. This one I used quarter inch ribbon with some real short pieces of ribbon, so it made it overall, smaller flower. Once you have your petals planned. What you're going to do is you're going to start with the piece of ribbon on your needle and thread that is the outside of the petal you're, going to build it one petal at a time so you're going to take your ribbon and you're going to pierce. It through the the needle like that and then you're going to take your inside piece of ribbon and Pierce it on there like that now, since these are the only two pieces in the petal that I'm making I'm going to take inside peace loop it around again. So you have it looking like this and then you're going to take the outside piece and you're going to live it like that. So it should look like this you're going to do this repeatedly for each petal that you have on your clip. Okay, now that you have made all the petals but you're going to put in your flower, you're, going to put it down on a flat surface and what your goal now is to just make sure that the petals are evenly spaced, that you don't have them pulled Too, tight on the thread, and you want to make sure that your flower is circular, like that's you're, just going to kind of space it around so that you get evenly spaced petals and you get them in a nice round, shape so you're going to have a Beginning and an end piece, that's mine right here, and what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a little bit of glue, put it in between the two so that I can attach them like that and keep it round and just hold it for a Second, make sure the glue stays and then I'm going to knot the ribbon or the thread to hold the petals and plates okay. So once you've trimmed the thread and you have your petals evenly spaced and you're satisfied with how it looks you're going to add a centerpiece to that, and that will also help keep the flower more stable. So I'm going to take my Croagunk, I'm going to add a little bit of glue to the center here and I'm just using a large glitter dot. You can use a button. You can use a gem there's a lot of different variations that you can use for. The center and my flower is done now. What I need to do is just add it to a lined alligator clip. This is just a single prong alligator clip that's mine with three-eighths grosgrain ribbon, and what i do is i put just a little bit of glue on the top and then i take that and i put that just the tip that has glue on it right on The center of the flower, so with this flower being a little bit bigger, the petals won't sit flat, move the clip over and don't have it just on the top. So when you turn it over, you have your ribbon flower or hair clip all done. It'S a real fun and easy project that you can complete in just a couple of minutes.

Sparkle by Monica: What glue do you use to attach the ribbon to the alligator clip? Just the glue gun or should you use a fabric glue? I know if you glue metal to metal, things pop off easily...so you have to use a different glue. But fabric...maybe only the regular glue gun is ok?
