Hi guys, i'm going to start out with a basic wavy dark brown wig base, i'm pinning it to the mannequin head, so it doesn't slide around after that, i'm going to start trimming off any excess hair. You don't have to be too careful when cutting the hair, because you're just going to glue or sew some more on later, i'm cutting it to about shoulder length and thinning it out. Now it's various shades of loose hair, i'm pouring some glue into one bowl and water into another bowl, then, with a chunk of the loose hair, i'm going to get some glue on my hands and water it down by dipping my fingers in the water, i'm mixing The glue throughout the ball of hair as much as possible to make sure it gets sticky. So it's easier to style, then, while holding down one end of the hair, i'm going to start twisting it all the way to the end and add more glue. As i see fit, i'm twisting and rolling the hair into my desired shape. Then, with a hair dryer, i'm heating up the synthetic fibers and drying the glue, the more glue you add, the harder the hair will be when it dries. So you should definitely test it out. First also, this is just a quick and easy way. I make the hair for my pirate costume wig. If you are looking to make actual proper dreadlocks, i would search other videos on youtube for that here. You can kind of see how the heat from the blow dryer shovels the synthetic hairs. Also, in my jacksonville makeup tutorial, i mentioned how i made the wig with my own real hair. What i meant by that was, i just used some hair trimmings and twist the hair together. You can basically do it the same way you do with fake hair after you're happy with what you've made you can get different shades of black and brown acrylic craft paint and start coloring the hair, as you see, fit, to get a more realistic look. I personally paint almost every one of my wigs with acrylic craft paint, because it helps get rid of the synthetic shine as well as add different tones. You can also blend colors from black to blonde in a more natural way, as well as cover up any glue and other imperfections. Now that i'm done coloring the hair, i'm ready to attach it to the wig. I also made an assortment of sizes and added trinkets and beads to some of them. With my hot glue gun, i'm going to put a generous amount of glue on one end of the hair and place it in the hairs at the base of the wig. You can repeat, as you see fit, it really helps to look at reference images, while making the wig also keep in mind his wig style changes throughout the films. Although mine is just kind of a mix of the different styles, can we just appreciate how adorable my kitten cara is in the background now, i'm just gluing on some loose hair to add different textures and filling gaps after you're happy with how it looks and done. Gluing on the hair, you're almost done with the wig to make sure i place the accessories correctly on the wig, i'm going to try it on my hair is braided and i'm putting on a wig cap. So i can try on the wig and make sure everything looks right. I'M sectioning and pinning back the hair for the bandana, as well as making the ponytail that's at the top right of his head. I got the bandana from ebay and it's really great, but i like to make it look a little more dirty. You can do this by getting a bucket, then adding the desired colors of paint and water them down. So you can soak the bandana. I would do a small test on the corner to make sure it will turn the desired color when dry. Once it's dry, you just fold it in the right size and tie it down in the back of your head, then for the ponytail he has a bone in it, but i'm just using a wooden stick attached to some string and some hair, i'm also gluing in Some of my own loose wavy hair for the beads. I went to local craft stores in walmart to try to find the right ones anything i couldn't find i sculpted out of polymer clay and painted them to desired colors. Then you can pin them in place and secure them once you take off the wig, be sure to reference photos of jack sparrow, while adding the accessories after you're done with the placement of everything you can secure it down with glue or by hand sewing once everything Is secure, you're done? I hope you found this tutorial helpful and have fun dressing up as captain jack. Thank you so much for all the requests to make this wig tutorial. I was in need of a new wig anyway.

PLP TV: omg, this tutorial was amazing, I hope I can do this one day, you are so so talented, how many hours did this take you? I love this video

Shelby Gill: You are without a doubt the BEST pirate I've ever heard of. Seriously though! I love this cosplay so so so much as Jack/Depp/POTC is my favorite character/actor/movie series on earth and this is so neat! I hope I have the time to make a Captain Jack cosplay as well as you someday and I can't wait to come back to this video for the wig. You are too dang talented girl!

Sage Mirei: I feel like at the end when you put on the wig and were still in your makeup and everything you made a super gorgeous female pirate, haha. Also, your animals are adorable! And I am so impressed re-watching the intro. You have every nuance of Jack Sparrow down, from the movements of his arms and fingers to his facial expressions. You could seriously work at one of the Disney parks as him, or something. It's mind boggling how on point your cosplays are.

Red Masquerade Cosplay: "I used some of my own hair." That is the most metal thing I've ever heard.

Sharp Shot EFX: Amazing! This is so much simpler than how I made mine. I just used a cat brush and tangled and backcombed the hair until it looked something like dreads. Never would have thought of using acrylics either!

Misaki Katsumi: You're so awesome, you have perfected everything for your jack sparrow cosplay from his mannerisms to how he looks, you look exactly like him! You need some sort of award lol ☺️

Kaitlyn Boucher: Amazing, when I saw the intro I thought it was Johnny Depp!! I'd love to see the rest of the costumes tutorial!

BoHime Chella ASMR: Woah, you kind of look like Winona Ryder in Edward Scissorhands. Could you maybe do a cosplay on Kim sometime?! You would look amazing!

Andrew Waldron: Thanks for the video!! My sister had a costume party wedding reception this past Halloween. I decided to go as Capt Jack and used your video to help make the dreds and attach to my wig. It turned out AWESOME! You are very talented, keep it up!

The Midgardian butterfly: this helped me out so much! you look amazing i love all your cosplays! x <3 thank you!!!

Beverage: This was soooo helpful! I was struggling, trying to figure out how I was going to get the dreads how I wanted them, and I think your technique is the best for me! Thanks sooo much, I will definitely be checking out your other videos for this cosplay!

Rei Cosplay: Oh my GOSH thank you so much for this I’ve been looking everywhere for a simple way to make dreadlocks for cosplay wigs and I’m definitely going to reference this tutorial when I make my Hatsume Mei wig!

Kayla Whitworth: this is AMAZING! i never wanted to make my own wig until now. i bought a Jack sparrow wig but maybe I'll slowly alter it to be more authentic. thanks for the video. super helpful!

BülletprööfCüpid: This is so cool and so well done! I would love to see how you made your Edward Scissorhands costume too! ;o

kamsamnedah: Your commitment to making quality costumes is incredible!!! You are an amazing artist!!!

kiizato: I love your videos so much! <3 I'm really inspired to work on my cosplay now...not Jack Sparrow, but this gave me some great ideas how to style my wig! :')

Adam P. Forshaw: Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your creativity and your talent with those of us who are maaaayyyybeee.... less so. ;-/ . I almost never leave comments but I had to for this because it was super helpful for wanting to put together my Cpt. Jack costume. Along with your others, I may have a fighting chance. Thanks again!

alchemy berry: you are amazing! this jack cosplay is absolutely perfekt :) thank u for the great tutorial!

Beth: Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me. This entire cosplay is incredible. <3

Unicorn Fairydust: Best everything on Jack Sparrow cosplay I have ever seen! Outstandingly and well done!

purplesan: I was afraid to start on this project because I assumed everything needed to be super expensive. Guess I was wrong! Thank you SO MUCH for this amazing tutorial!

Cheyenne C: Not only are you an amazing makeup artist, you're also really good at impersonating Jack Sparrow's character. You got the walk down XD

Larry Navarro: Pretty amazing looking wig Alyson! Whew! I wish I'd seen this vid of yours before I made my wig! I had to learn how to make real dreadlocks and spent many hours crocheting them . ( but I'm happy with what I got) Your wig is certainly more interesting and textured! Paint, glue and hot glue gun! Smart way to go!

Pup Nate: Costume tutorial PLEASE! Your costume looks so amazing and its Super convincing! I love it and you've become my inspiration for being brave enough to take on this costume! :D

Aurore Martin: Hi, thanks for this tutorial, you made a very great job ☺

Ramus Amandine: Hello Alyson, thank you for your tutorials that will help me a lot in my realization of number with my horse (I took the theme "jack sparrow") and I fell by chance on your chain I love what you do, thank you very much for your advice and sorry for my bad english, thanks a lot kisses from France

Fyre Heart Studios: Thank you for this. I've been cosplaying Jack for years, but my wig looks way too big for my head, (i'm very short and tiny) as the dreads didn't stay rolled tight. I'm going to give the gluing and painting a try on one slightly hidden dread and hope I can slim the whole thing down and not have to make a new one! Also! Might I ask what kind of glue it is you're using?

LaMissFlurry: This video once inspired me to get into cosplay <3 I made my own wig! But it was from blue wool hahaha. I haven't cosplayed in a while, and I was sad that it seemed like something I lost interest in, but suddenly I got the urge to begin again where it all started and Im gonna make a Jack Sparrow Wig again :D But this time even better! Thank you! :)

Sarah Jones: Thank you so much for making both your make-up, and wig tutorial! I am putting together a cosplay for my self, and my dad. I am going to be Jack, and he will be Barbosa. We're going to Salt Lake Comic Con, and Disneyland for Halloween! And it's so refreshing to see a girl cosplaying as Jack, and pulling it off so well. It makes me feel more confident in being able to pull it off! You've been a huge help, and a big inspiration to me! Thank you! Now, I hope I can pull it all together, and make it authentic.

Aki Alchemicae: Not a Cosplay I would consider for myself but you did such an amazing job, with this tutorial as well as the makeup. great way for easy dreads btw, I always do the backcombing and steaming (and burning my fingers) stuff :'D

ArtemisTheWitch: This is super helpful, my friend wants to Cosplay Jack also and asked me to make his wig and I wanted to make my own also thank you! X3

Nakamura Chiharu: Your job is so perfect ! I looked on the internet to buy a Jack Sparrow wig, because I don't think I'm able to do what you did, but they were horrible. Then I was looking for cosplayers pics, to see how were their wigs and where they got it. But you definitely have the best wig. No other one is so realistic like yours ! Well, nice to say that, but now... I guess I have to try your way... Fails are coming !

A_weird_spot_in_wonderland: Thank you so much for this! Capitan jack sparrow has always been a favorite character of mine!

Autumn Cockrell: I love this! :D I have always wanted a Jack Sparrow wig and buying one was never an option (I have no money). So since I have most of this stuff at home this will make it easier! Thank you!

berry k.: this is so awesome! you look amazing! can't believe how great it turned out, i see now difference to the original one! you're so talented!!

Bree Holyoak: I've seen some impressive cosplays in my days but this one , this one is the best Jack sparrow one I've seen in a long time , I tip my hat to you

Ary Chaves: That was a great tutorial! Thank you for creating this! PLEASE do a make-up tutorial for Lightning too!

Betsy Ferra: THAT RUN in the intro was perfect omg

Alex Edits: you are without doubt the best pirate i've ever heard of! okay this is gonna be along one, not only did you nail his movements, facial expressions and everything completely but also that wig you made, like its probably the most close-to-character one i've ever seen! you could seriously work at a disney theme park you look exactly like johnny! absolutely awesome cosplay and also your tutorials and everything help me aswell as many many others thank you for taking your own time to helping us others who have no idea what they're doing XD anyway, awesome job!

Alice Orlando: OMG this is totally amazing!!! great job!!!!❤❤❤

R E Y N A: you did an amazing job! I am a performer using this as a reference to fix a costume store wig! thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

Captain Jeppylatch: Sorry if this comment is a bit dated but I love your Jack tutorials. I've been doing this almost a year now and you are one of my inspirations. Thanks.

Owen's Slutty Little Knee: this is amazing! I'm dressing as jack next year and I wanted to make the wig myself but I wasn't sure how, now I do! I have one question tho, does the acrylic paint on the wig chip or flake at all? I've had problems with acrylics in the past and I was just wondering if it's a pain or not. thank you!

M. Clem: The wig ws amazing in itself, but then when I saw your beautiful glowing face it made it that much better QQ Please make more videos when you can :D

Ellen Chua: Can we just appreciate how A-M-A-Z-I-N-G she is. So creative!

ラクライ: Congratulation! You've just gained a subscriber! I'm a really really big Lightning fan, I've loved her for more than 6 years now. And to be honest, I was really impressed with your Lightning cosplay. I've watched vids where you cosplayed as Light and I was stunned! I've never seen anyone who cosplayed as Lightning so amazing like that! I've seen many Light cosplays before, but none of them got as close to her image as much as you! Also, not just Light but Captain Jack Sparrow as well ^3^ I adored him, his humour makes me laugh all the time. I love Captain Jack :3 I've re-watched the Pirates of the Caribbean so much that I lost count. Only to watch Captain Jack Sparrow! XD
