Diy Designer Inspired Hair Accessories | I Destroyed A Purse To Make These

In this video I made some designer inspired hair accessories with my old "fendi" bag that was sitting around. I needed a new cute headband and hair pin anyway !!!

Hi guys so, as you can tell by the title, I'm going to be making DIY designer hair accessories today, I have this bag brought up from the thrift store a while ago. It'S clearly not real, which is why I have no problem destroying it. I wanted to make like just a regular basic headband. I also found a butterfly Louie Vuitton hair, pin someone selling it on deep hop for 250 dollars. I did want to try to make it myself we're gon na go ahead and snip those straps off, because I don't need them anyway. Grab our seam ripper and try to get in between the stitching disassemble the bag as much as possible to reveal large pieces of fabric that we can use. Honestly, I went to the dollar store and there was no regular headband, so I had to get these, but it's okay, because I just grabbed my scissors and cut that right off. I didn't have a long enough strip to cover the entire headband, so I cut out two rectangular pieces and cut one of them in half so that when I join them together, there'll be two seams on the side rather than one seam in the middle, because my Hair would probably cover the seams on the side, but the seam in the middle would just be awkward so a straight line and be very careful because your needle might break my needle might break before I lose an eye. I flipped the strip over and iron the seams down so that it lays flat on top of the headband. By the way I did get a new iron. Let'S just say my other iron was not it Summa happened. When I try to iron down the seam allowance, I don't know what my iron did now to attach my strip to the headband. You can see here that I'm just using a hot glue gun to stick it on. I originally started folding the fabric over and sticking it to the inside of the headband, but I ran out of glue sticks, which is why my brother is sticking a paintbrush in the back of the glue gun, long story short, I had to pull out my needle And thread to hand sew it now. I just wanted to add some sort of lining to cover my stitching. Ironically, I decided that the bag strap would work best for this. Just forget what I said before, because so yeah I cut the strap to fit the headband, and I used some fabric glue to glue it on the inside. It wasn't really sticking very well at first, so I left it overnight to dry, so it's the next day and the headband is fully dried. I just need to add one more finishing touch and then we can start working on the butterfly pin. There was some fabric sticking out at the ends of the headband, so all I did was fold it up, sew it in place, and then I went in with my little mini fabric scissors and cut out any imperfections or thread that was sticking out and that's it For the headband to make the butterfly clip, I had to cut out three butterfly pieces, the top two wings, the bottom two wings and then the body now. This did take some time because, although I like doing crafts, drawing basic shapes really stresses me out Here, I am comparing my work to the picture and then dying of disappointment. Okay. So when I was finally satisfied with my bottom wings, I wanted to create two more layers for thickness and I did that by placing the wing cutout on two separate pieces of fabric that were just a bit larger than the actual cutout itself, and I made sure That the print of the fabric was placed face-up on the bottom layer to make sure that the back of the butterfly would also have the print on it as well. I didn't want to poke too many holes in this fabric, so I just secured all of these layers with a butterfly clip and also with bobby pins. Then I took it to my sewing machine and sold a nice border around that wing piece. Then I cut the two bottom layers to make sure that they match the shape of the initial piece and for the two other butterfly Parts I did the same exact thing. I don't know what happened to my audio here, but I think I was saying I have to sew all my pieces together, which means that it's a total of nine layers under my sewing machine and that I'm really scared, which is why I'm putting on my protective Goggles again, but I do actually have a little tip for when you're sewing thick fabrics to preserve my needle. I put my fabric under the sewing machine and I just placed a bit of pressure on the presser foot and I use the hand wheel to help me. Sew method is a bit slower, but it's still way faster and way more accurate than hand sewing. Now it was time to make the holes for the grommet so that the chopsticks could go through the butterfly just marked where I wanted the grommets to go. I'Ve tried to make sure that it was the same on each side. I used my exacto knife to cut the holes out and then I tried to stretch the holes out as much as possible with like a stick or something kind of like when you're trying to move up a size in your spacers for your ears. I didn't like the two colors that the grommets originally came in, so I took them outside and I tried to spray-paint them different colors to see what would look better. I tried black and metallic brass color and a metallic gold color, but other than that it was such a beautiful day. I was having a great time outside. Even the mailman decided to pay a visit. You wonder if it's my hot tool kit or my embroidery kit that I ordered a month ago. There was nothing for me. It was for my neighbor okay back to work. I ended up using the grommets that I spray-painted black, as you can tell, but essentially you just gets a large piece put it through the hole and then the small piece you put on the other side, many of your grommet tool. And then you get your hammer and then you hit it so hard like you're, so mad you'd never got your packages in like a month and you're still waiting, and then you have a butterfly wow so beautiful. This was actually such a fun project. To do. I hope you enjoyed this video and I'll see you next time.
