I experience a lot of trial and error with my hair, as many of us do, and I get ecstatic when I find a combo that works! Funny enough, it's usually when I'm running low on products so it lasts for a short while before I'm back to experimenting with something new! In the meantime, I hope this current routine helps you discover something new.

Thank you for supporting my channel!! ✨

Hey, hey, i'm cam day, welcome to the channel and to today's video, as always, it's a pleasure to have you and i hope, you're doing all right and i hope you are ready for some wash day. Goodness, as you can tell, i um - maybe not, but i rolled out of bed basically not too long ago, and i haven't done too much because the work will start soon. Just to give you a little bit of a preface here's, my hair, i overnight use this meal rosemary, mint, scalp and hair strengthening oil. Here she is um. I got mine from cvs and that tag will not remove. So, just so you know a fun fact and maybe a hot tip. If you do shop at cvs and you have like the rewards program a lot of times, they send 40 off. One item coupons, i get them through email and i also use the app. So i got this for 40 off, so you definitely want to get on that a lot of my beauty purchases. I actually end up saving for things at cvs. If it's, you know, skin care, hair care, sun care all of those things, because that's the best deal most of the time anyway, we're going to be walking through my current wash day routine. Oh my gosh, because this is a mess, and i have gotten to a point where i've found some products that i really enjoy for multiple reasons that i want to walk through with you. Just because i feel like it's an ongoing evolutionarily evolutionary process when it comes to getting this dang hair, is it attached to me or is it loose it's attached, it's a whole process trying to find products that work well that you can tolerate the smell of that Will last you long enough that actually do what you're hoping they do for your hair, so i've gotten to a little bit of a sweet spot with some of these products, and i want to share them with you, hoping that it helps you figure out. Maybe something new to try or a new way to try something that you already have so first things. First, a little background on my hair. As i mentioned, it's a little oily at the roots, because i put this in overnight. I'Ve been dealing with some dry scalp for a while, basically on for a long time, and i think it's just because once i wash my hair, i don't really do much to my hair or my scalp until the next time that i wash it and sometimes that's Multiple times a week, but most of the time it's at least you know once a week and i find that my scalp just gets dry because i'm not brushing through it. I'M not really redistributing the oils or anything like that. So i end up with a lot of flakes and i also do some sort of you know product touch-ups throughout the day or throughout the days after i first wash. So i think it might be a little bit of product build up as well. So my focus is hydration hydration at the scalp, so that i get a little bit more um. I guess just of an overall healthy feel in my hair, but also so i don't have a flaky scalp, because that drives me nuts, i'm on day. Five actually - and i probably could stretch this a couple more days - if i really wanted to my hair - feels pretty healthy. I did trim it recently, so the ends are nice and fresh, but i'm ready to just get a little bit more of a uniform curl. Get that bounce back and some shine, because i do have somewhere to go later today, so i'm gon na walk you through that process, step one i'm gon na hop in the shower and i'll be back and i'll walk you through the products that i use. Okay and we're back hello, welcome back out of the shower, i use briojio, don't respare, don't despair, repair, shampoo and conditioner. I have been using these for a while. This is actually, i think, maybe my second set um shampoo is almost empty. I mean conditioner is almost empty. Shampoo still got about halfway in there um. I love the way this smells. I love this line. I use their blow dry cream. I'Ve used their hair mask. I'Ve used their oil. That'S part of this line. I just really enjoy it again for the texture, the smell and just the way that it makes my hair feel. My only gripe is the packaging. It'S just not the easiest to use when you're in the shower something a little bit sleeker a little more user friendly. Would be my my only tip but really enjoying these in addition to using the scalp oil in my routine, i also am just making sure that i'm really taking my time applying any products to my scalp, so primarily shampoo, as i shampoo i'm doing an actual scalp Massage to really help break up the oils that are there to really actually clean the root of my hair, but also to just kind of stimulate the scalp and just get it get it going. You know we all need a little bit of extra oomph, sometimes, and definitely that is the case with my scalp. So i definitely take my time and give myself at least a good minute. However long i can keep my arms up without feeling fatigued is how long i will apply and put in my um shampoo, then i'll rinse it out put in the conditioner focus it more on the shaft to the root of the hair. I mean the tip. Definitely more at the ends and then let that sit for the duration of my shower so do the rest of the bod and then rinse it out. When i'm done, i have been doing the squish to condition method. I don't do it religiously, but i did today so that just means i flip my hair over when it's time to rinse out the conditioner from my hair and as the water stream from the shower head is coming down. I just kind of butt my head up against it. This is the water and i just go like this and let the water kind of flow through that way, but i think it helps to one encourage the roots to go this way. Instead of you know, if you put your head back in the shower water's coming down this way, it flattens the roots a little bit, so i always want volume. I always want my roots to be happy and excited and bouncy, because they tend to get really flat and that's just not the look i like with my curls. So i realize that that just helps encourage that volume and that's why i do it and it also kind of creates these individual curls, because you are scrunching your hair, which is kind of a tried and true curly wavy girl method. To kind of activate your your curls and get some bounce so doing that in the shower definitely helps. I try and use my fingers to rake through, especially while i'm conditioning as much as possible, so that i don't have to use a lot of brushes or tools or anything outside of the shower, because this will help to keep some of the shape and the volume That i like, and also when you use conditioner, isn't it crazy how much hair comes out versus when you shampoo. It'S amazing so, like my wall right now is just filled with hair, but it's okay. It'S part of the process, moving on to product and actually styling. I do like to make sure that my hair is as wet as possible. I find just like when i do my skincare i like to have my skin a little bit damp before i moisturize, because i feel like it really helps enhance the whole process. So do the same thing with my hair and i've heard a lot of other people do the same. So maybe that's a tip for you. I just have this dollar store water bottle that i keep at my sink, it's large and in charge, because i use this every day and it's just what i have and that's what works right now i have used some of the finer mist like the extended spray Mist ones which are really nice, but i always have trouble with them either the trigger breaks or it starts to smell, weird, like kind of musty, so this is tried and true and it gets the job done for me, i noticed that my hair is starting to Get a little bit frizzy and start to dry out at the top, so i just re-wet it! I'M not shy about it and again, since i'm just going to be using my fingers for right now, i'm trying to avoid using a brush brushes are not the enemy. With curly hair with wet hair at all, in my opinion, i just like giving myself and giving my curls the opportunity to kind of do their thing without needing to individually brush through everything, because i like that they can stay in their own little curl patterns. This way, but i do need to figure out my part and i need a comb. Okay, we are parted, although it can be a little bit difficult for me, because i just tend to get pretty handsy with my hair. I'Ve tried. I try and i've learned that reducing the amount of times that you touch your hair or maybe maybe more like brush through your hair, while it's wet is best for me, because it helps keep these curls individual and kind of sealed in a way. And then, once they fully dry, that's when you can kind of rake it out, fluff it up and you've maintained the curl you've maintained the like. I said that seal that's there and it reduces frizz and all overall it just looks better because when it's wet and starts to get frizzy and you have all these little individual curls kind of going every which way. That'S when i find it's just harder to get the look that i'm trying to achieve once my hair is dry, so keep that in mind. That'S why keeping your hair wet throughout this whole process is very helpful. The first step is this leave-in conditioner. It is from paul mitchell, clean beauty, it's their anti-frizz leave-in treatment with hyaluronic, acid and almond oil. I also have the shampoo and conditioner from this line that i really enjoy. I actually kind of alternate alternate between the briochio and that sometimes especially when i want a little bit more of a sleek look. If i know i'm going to blow my hair out - and i get about that much - maybe we can call that a quarter size get it between both hands and i kind of rake through. I start at the ends because i find that this is just a little bit easier to start with and then whatever is left i'll bring up to the top. I usually will bring my hair forward and do the praying hands method. You know. Have you read about that one, you just take your hand, your hands put the hair in between both sides. This way, i think you get a little bit more of an even distribution, although you do start to kind of take away that curl. So i always scrunch at the end, because i also make sure that i'm focusing product at the ends where my hair tends to kind of frizz out next. This is one of my favorite products, that's also almost empty. This is the aveda b curly curl enhancer. I love her. I use about the same amount, so it's starting with about a quarter size and do the same thing. I rake on one side but notice that i'm going on the underside of my hair. So i know that i'm going to have more curl, curly and more defined hair at the bottom, which what i really want to focus on is on the outside. So that will be next starting at the top. And then i flip my hair over and i get about another quarter. Size amount going in in phases is a lot easier for me. It'S just a lot more manageable than having all this product on at once. So if you need to break it up, that's totally. Okay, so we do the praying hands, get it through all sides, and then scrunch hear that squish. That means that your hair is still really hydrated. It'S still wet and you've got a lot of product in there. That is a good thing when you want to have really defined curls at the end of all this, so keep your hair wet. Next, i go in with this. It'S a heat, protectant spray, it's from bumble and bumble, it's their hairdresser's, invisible oil, it's a heat and uv protective spray. I love the way that it smells. It'S super lightweight. I almost spritz this in my hair every day when i'm refreshing it after a wash i'll, usually just do a little bit of water and some of this just because i feel like i'm getting it nice and protected from the sun. If i'm out and about - and i just really love the way, it smells truly that's kind of the theme with all the products that i use and with just whatever i try to use in my hair at any point if it doesn't smell good, even if it's The most high performing thing - i'm probably not going to use it just because my hair holds on to scent, like i think, that's just one of the properties of hair. It really holds on to and absorbs smell, and i want it to be good because if someone most of the time like nine times out of ten, if i hug someone and they're like oh you smell so good, i don't even have perfume on it's. What'S in my hair, so keep that in mind, even though this is a spray bottle, i don't spray it directly onto my hair because it is still kind of a creamy texture. It is super lightweight, though, just because i don't want to get splotches, so i just apply it directly to my hands and do the same thing all over okay last step. Yes, this is a little bit of a product sandwich. Just do a really light spritz and then i go in with the gel. This has become my favorite product over the last few months. This is the camille rose, curl maker, with marshmallow and agave leaf extract. I start out with two pumps and just take a look at the texture: it's not the easiest to pump because it is a jelly, so it's kind of thick and goopy, but this is what's going to help give your hair hold. So i actually go straight in with the praying hands method. Um just kidding, i'm reading a little bit, that's a bad habit, i'm going straight in with praying hands really trying to focus it on the top of the hair. Because again, i have had a lot of experience doing so much underneath that, once my hair is dry right down here, it's beautiful and luscious and perfect and well, and then on the top there's you know a lot of frizz. The curls are really undefined just because i'm not focusing product there so be really mindful to evenly distribute it and get it on the top, because that top layer is usually what's first to frizz, two more pumps for the other side, and we do the same thing. Try not to eat your hair in the process. Okay, we pray that these curls look good today. I generally try and do this at least a day before i have somewhere to go just because this is the day that i like to let my hair really kind of marinate in the products. I don't want to disturb it too much, because i just want it to dry and do its thing um, but you know if you're ever in a rush like i am because i actually have to leave in about an hour um. You know this is what we got to do, and sometimes this is how life treats us and that's okay, now that all the product is in i'll, do a quick once over just to look and see, is there any spot that randomly looks a little bit dry? A little bit out of place and everything looks pretty well distributed. I am going to spritz my roots one more time, because this is where my hair starts to dry out and i get really flat on top and i don't want to be flat now. Usually, i don't have a lot of time to individually coil my curls, although i see a lot of curly people do it and it creates really beautiful results. My schedule and my patience just usually don't allow for it. So the most that i'll do is what i'm doing right now i'll just take the top couple, curls and kind of encourage them to do their own thing. Because again it's where i get flat - and i don't want that so i'll just take them one by one. Curl them up to the root and just kind of encourage them to be their own individuals. Then i do the same just scrunch all over and the last step that i do to really like train my roots and to get some volume is i'll. Just take these little baby claw clips, you can use bigger ones, you can use smaller ones. You can use alligator clips whatever you have. I found that this works best for me and i've already had them on hand. So i take one and put it in the front and another in the middle, and i just take a section from each side of my part, and this way i'm encouraging there to be a little bit of an m just to get a little bit more volume. At the root, because have i told you enough already, i struggle with that. So that's why we do this so many times. I will just walk around the house like this and let my hair do its thing for the whole entire day, but because i don't have the luxury of time, i will be diffusing it a little bit and i'll show you what that looks like blow. Dryer diffusing attachment i try to avoid heat, especially just on my curls as much as possible, because i just noticed that they are a lot healthier when i don't disturb them and don't put a bunch of hot hot air on them. But when i do have to i try and control it as much as possible, so i will have this turned on, but i'll have it on the very lowest heat setting and about at the middle air blow strength setting as well, because i don't need it to Be too intense, i'm not going to be doing this so that my hair is 100 completely dry with this. Just because i really want to again limit the amount that i'm using it, but give it a little bit of a head start. So i'm going to start with the roots and we'll go from there. Excuse me, you may be noticing that i don't use my blow dryer and just kind of shake it around like we know and love to do it's best with your curls to keep it as stationary as possible so that you don't disturb the cast. That'S going on. So that's basically like the combination of products that you're using and the kind of protection that they're creating over your individual strands and the curls that they're creating, because this will help reduce frizz a lot. Now, if you struggle with patience, especially when it comes to your hair, like i do just know, this might take you a little bit to get used to, but it will absolutely pay off. So if you can keep it stationary, you don't have to have the diffuser right up on your roots, because that will dry out your scalp more more so over time, which is something we're trying to avoid, because healthy scalp equals healthy, healthy hair and so just kind Of hover - and you notice that i have my hand here - just kind of holding up the hair. This will again encourage the roots to have a little bit more body a little bit of volume, and i don't have the heat on too high, where it feels like. It'S burning my fingers, so it's totally comfortable and easy to have them here as i go out and do this so do this as long as you can and as long as you start to notice that your hair is starting to dry, you can do this to Your hair is 100 complete dry, i'm going to start and maybe see if i get to like 50 or 75 percent okay. So i am overheated and my curls are about truly 90 to 95 percent done. So i'm going to remove the clip and i probably could have removed it earlier in the process. I just kind of forget about them, but see how well it's a little bit of a you know. We parted the red sea, so it's like very defined, but it's work with-able and i'd rather start with volume than not have it at all. So i got some fuzzies in there that i will get out, but, as you can already tell, we've got some volume and that's what we're here for so this is normally not what my curls look like on a day-to-day basis, but on day one after i wash Them, yes, this is what they look like and as i touch them like i said, i can still feel that it's a little bit wet i'll, say it's about 80 dry, so i'm probably gon na. Let the rest of it air dry, and i will come back to show you what it fully looks like on day one and just know that it gets better each day after i wash it um, usually the way that i preserve my curls is just using a Silk scrunchie like this satin, because we can't always have silk these days. I use a scrunchie. I put all my hair on the top of my head. Put it in a pony and kind of do like that pineapple or i'll just make a big bun. I also have a satin like sleep cap and satin satin pillow case. These are just all really helpful measures to help ensure that you're not creating a lot of friction between like a cotton, pillowcase and your hair, because that just creates more frizz. And so it just helps encourage the longevity of your wash throughout the week or, however, long that you have your hair, oh and then, like i mentioned each day, if i ever feel like, i need to refresh like if some of my curls get a little stretched Out as always, because when i touch my hair and i touch it a lot throughout the day, the top tends to get a little bit. Frizzier curls, less defined i'll, just use my handy dandy, water bottle to help spray and just kind of refresh everything, and then i'll use a little bit of this. Just because i really like the texture, it's lightweight, but it has adds a little bit of moisture and i like the idea that it's protecting my hair and i'm also kind of in the market for like a an actual refreshing product. I have my eye on the rezos curls. They have an everyday like refresher detangler that i might give a try and keep you posted on. I'M gon na finish getting ready, let this dry a little bit more and show you how i separate all this in just a minute. All right. We have made it to the final stretch. I would say that my hair is like 98 or 95 percent dry, so i normally wouldn't do what i'm about to do until it's like really really dry. But again i don't have a lot of time and i also want to show you guys what i do to help take my hair from this, which is while very defined. Not the look that i like to go for it's just a little too close to my head. I always kind of joke that i turn into kenny g, especially when my hair was longer, and i didn't have as many layers on wash day just because it's it's wet, it's gel jelly kind of, and it's just long and curly and close to the head. So i like, when it's big and has volume, but if i can hang on to definition as much as possible, then we're good to go and we're golden. So that's what we're going to find out. I usually use a wire comb like this. A pick or just my fingers, if i am using my fingers, if i've done my makeup before or if i still have a bunch of hair product on my hand, i will either wash my hands or i have some alcohol that i'm just going to wipe across My finger pads, really quick. This might seem like a little bit of overkill, but honestly, i do find that it helps without adding too many extra oils and messing up the the layers in my hair as it is so just so you know. So what we do here, i'm going to move you to a new angle, real quick, new angle, unlocked this is so you can really get the full visual in the full version of what we do here so flip the hair upside down, because you'll notice, before we Get into it - yes, so nice and defined so cute, so great, but it almost has like that gel like look to it. Thankfully, with the um the camille rose gel, it doesn't have a very thick or crunchy texture to it, which is huge so important for me, but i do like to soften it even more because as much as i like the definition here, i want volume and i Want fluffiness - and this just doesn't look fluffy to me, so we flip over. If you have a pick like this or a pick at all, i like to kind of put one hand in front of my head, because this is metal and it can get kind of pokeys and you don't want to poke yourself or snag yourself so be protected. So we do this and then i'll just start to kind of rake through i place it in and then i just shake and bring it down i'll do the same thing from the inside out and i literally just go from side to side this way, you're starting To break up the clumps, then take your fingers and scrunch your hair. This way, you're starting to break that cast if you've heard break the cast. It'S really just helping to crunch and kind of dissemble the disassemble take away the cast of products, that's covering each strand of your hair, and this will make it a lot softer to it. Take away any of that crunchiness, the crunchy look, the country feel and already see how much more volume we have. So just keep going. I'M going to use my fingers to kind of rake through and then you just go at your desired paste paste to your desired fullness until you get to here and honestly. I know my hair well enough that this is probably as good as it's going to get for the first day. This is usually when my hair is the smallest, it's the most defined and then throughout the week it gets a lot looser a lot bouncier and day. Three and day four, like my sweet spots, so yes, i do kind of plan. If i know that i have an event coming up or if i'm doing something fun and fancy, i will try and like pace my hair out so that i can really get it at its best on those days. But here we go a lot softer a lot. Less shrunken together and then i just kind of play with it as i need to if you find that your hair is still a little bit. Frizzy in places feel free to use water to help just kind of rehydrate and get that back to a place. That feels good for you and ride this out for as long as you can, if you have any questions about the products that i use or the technique that i use. Let me know i could talk about this till i'm blue in the face i'm already out of breath. If you can't tell floofing, is quite the energy intensive process, but thank you for hanging in with me today. It'S always great to have you. I love hanging out with you and just let me know if there's anything that you want to share or anything that you're curious about down in the comments below and with that we're going to end this video today whenever and wherever you are, i hope you're having A wonderful rest of your day and i look forward to seeing you in the next one just know that you are wonderful.
