These are my 5 favourite shampoo and conditioners for thicker hair. These are all cosmetic thickening - so they plump and boost the appearance of the hair, rather than tackling hair loss. Products linked below.

Hi guys., How are you Am Robin welcome back or welcome to my YouTube channel. This little world right here is Man For Himself.. If you like men's hair, product reviews, grooming, skincare, fragrance and videos like this, then this channel is for you.. Please do press subscribe right. Now. Okay., I did a YouTube live on Friday and there were so many questions about shampoos and conditioners. The stuff I use the stuff I'd recommend, and I thought it was probably a great time just to actually pull out some of my favourite products.. Now these products are all sort of really about thickening hair.. You know from following me, hopefully, that my hair is really fine., There's not so much of actually there's loads of it.. That'S a lie. There's loads of hair, but it's very fine., But I need like an instant kick from a product. Something to boost it., Something to make it look thicker and fuller., And these products have done that.. Now there are other treatments that I have used and love that I think I'll probably talk about in a different video. Stuff for texture stuff for detoxifying and clarifying. To really clean into the scalp.. But I just wan na focus on these for now. Now, one that I've spoken about loads, you will know, is Nioxin., And this is actually System 2.. So I normally use System 1. System 1 is for people that have got so fine to flyaway hair or have noticed like slight thinning. System. 2 is more progressive, thinning., I'm actually just using this one, because I finished my system 1 and I have this to hand. But there's no trouble in going slightly further. Now Nioxin is an American brand.. It is all about having a healthy scalp. Now having a healthy scalp leads to healthy hair., You get these which they clean the scalp. They create an optimum condition, condition for hair to grow., And they also give you this sort of tingle, which is about getting blood into the vessels into the follicle and sort of stimulating the hair to grow into that growth. Phase. And I have been using Nioxin for probably don't know. Like it must be almost four years.. I genuinely love them.. I worked with them last year and I just have continued to really recommend these to a lot of you guys and actually I have had comments and pictures from people saying that they've used it too.. So that makes me very happy that a brand that I love has also helped you guys out.. So this is great. One of the sort of cheapest ones. I have and have used over the years and I would say, cheap because I do find with shampoos and conditioners. This is something I would not advise on scrimping on.. I do find that actually investing just slightly more in a good brand and a brand which will deliver actually does give you better results., Some of the really super cheap ones. I have found strip my hair and leave it feeling squeaky clean, which isn't good. And just doesn't give my hair that same sort of weightless volume. So - and this is around about the 10 Pound mark.. This is by Fudge.. I loved Fudge back in the day, and this is actually shampoo and conditioner set that I go back to.. This is their Xpand Xpender range Xpander range with caffeine and ginseng.. There'S research saying that caffeine does stuff., There's research saying that it doesn't, but a lot of what these things all do is to stimulate the scalp and really to get blood flowing in there to create optimum conditions., And these aren't sort of DHT blocking shampoos.. I'Ve spoken about that before and they're really targeting hair loss.. These are about making the most of what you have., And this one really has done this.. The thing I find with this one is that my hair feels plump.. The hair feels like it has weightless volume.. Do I think it does much in the long term, Not so much, but I do think that it gives you that sort of good aesthetic of the hair looking thicker and fuller.. So it's less about those long-term goals and more for the instant gratification., A newish brand to me, newish in that I've been using this for three months. Maybe this is Maria Nila.. Now Maria Nila is a brand from Stockholm and they have hair powders. They'Ve got hair, wax, there's clays and they've also got shampoos and conditioners.. Now these ones are paraben-free, cruelty-free, all the frees.. What else we got? Yeah dandruff relief and hair growth, sulphate and paraben-free colour guard complex produced in Sweden da da da da., But again like the Fudge Xpander. I have found that these give me that instant gratification that I look so often for in shampoos conditioners.. I want the hair to feel instantly thick and full so that I could just leave my hair without any product. Generally, I'm always using product, because I do want it to look as good as it possibly can.. Also, this one is helping to treat for dandruff.. So if you do have that this could be good for a trade for you.. I know Nioxin also have some dandruff shampoos, which I'm pretty sure they only released last year.. I will find that and I'll link it. Cause, I would say knowing Nioxin it will be good, but these have been great.. Also, these smell amazing.. They are kind of more sort of verging on this sort of female aesthetic, but who cares If the product works and it feels good in your hair, then then go for it., Let's go to Kevin Murphy.. I love Kevin Murphy.. You know I love it. Night Ride or Rough Rider, Free Hold Powder Puff, all those products are so great and their shampoo and conditioner are also great.. This is, this is more like a sort of, I would say, like an everyday shampoo that I would I don't wash my hair every day, but if I did, I would sort of look more to this.. I know so many of you are going to be saying, but Robin I thought you use just use Nioxin.. I thought you just did this.. I thought you just did. This. Nioxin is my go-to, but I also have used these. And I also would recommend these. And I think, that's really important to say there's so many products that I try. And there's so many products that I never go back. To. There's so many products that I try and that I love and I recommend to you guys, because I think these are really great and they're worth the price.. Now Stimulate-Me, which is this range, is all about activating the follicle. Again doing everything that these ones do, which is about really getting blood into the scalp to really take the hair follicle from so there's science. Here you go, there's anagen phase, which is hair growth, phase.. There'S catagen phase, which is when the hair is resting., So really it's doing less of that growing and there's the telogen phase, which is when the blood has stopped going to the follicle and the hair drops out. A lot of these. What these are doing is taking the hair from the resting phase and putting it back into the growth phase., And that is all about flooding, that area with blood with oxygen and providing that optimum condition for growth., And that's all about what Stimulate-Me is about.. It also smells amazing., It has. It'S got this really great minty.. I always see things then I'm like. Does it Robin though? Yes, it's minty.. Sometimes I say that a product smells like something and you guys are like that's not true.. That'S not what that smells like actually., And I say: Oh sorry, it's just my nose. But yeah. This smells amazing. And you do get that sort of tingle factor on the scalp. Just a tiny bit of this.. The shampoo is really cleansing.. Again. It'S not gon na strip, it out. The conditioner is this: one is really smoothing.. What I'm looking for in a conditioner is to give the hair a light gloss, nothing overly shiny., I'm also looking for a conditioner. That'S not gon na weigh the hair down.. Quite often, I feel like us guys if we use products which are really about that sort of female glossy aesthetic with hair, I feel like it weighs the hair down too much. And it just doesn't sort of suit the sort of the grittier texture that I want In my hair., So this has really worked well for that.. It'S kept, it conditioned it's kept it smooth, but without weighing it down.. My final one is another favourite brand, and that is Bumble and Bumble., And this is their Full Potential. Range. Again, a shampoo and a conditioner., And this is about preserving the hair that you have. Hallelujah. I think Bumble and Bumble create some of the best pre-stylers in the business. Bumble and Bumble Primer Tonic Lotion, the primer as it is, which is great for fine to normal hair., The thickening treatment Go, Big Treatment is amazing., And this sort of shampoo and conditioner as Part of the Full Potential range is also great., So they've got the shampoo, the conditioner and then they've actually got a scalp spray. Much like Nioxin has., And I confession I don't actually use scalps sprays so much.. I use them on and off, but it's not really a routine or regime that I use. And, to be honest, I've not noticed so much difference without them.. Again this is sulphate-free cruelty-free. It says: invigorating exfoliating shampoo, with our hair, preserve blends, help prevent hair loss.. So when products say they help to prevent hair loss either they do have that DHT blocking technology or they're about creating the perfect condition. And that's what these are doing.. I'M gon na keep on saying that, because someone's gon na say will this help this and this and this.? If you're looking for hair loss solutions and alternatives, then I really do think you need to go down that route of Minoxidil, which is the form or the topical solution. Or you need to go down the sort of Finasteride, which is the more pill based well. It is it's pill based. And you take one a day, and these really have some great science behind them., But if it is making the most of the hair that you have, then all of these are fantastic.. I don't want anything. That'S gon na to strip the hair.. I don't want anything. That'S gon na weigh the hair.. I want a clean, fresh scalp and these products have all been fantastic., So yeah Full Potential Nioxin by Bumble and Bumble Nioxin. The Fudge Xpander Maria Nila and the Kevin Murphy are all very much on my list and I'm gon na link all of them, so you can check them out., But if hair loss and sort of hair thickening is something that you either worry about or you wan Na know more about., There is more on ManForHimself.com.. I'Ve got the hair loss and solutions. Pages. I've also got thickening pages.. I'Ve also got a thickening tab on ManForHimself.com for products.. You can check that out and that should be able to help you.. Also, please do make sure you're signing up to the newsletter.. We have. I say we it's just me at the moment. I have a weekly newsletter that goes out and it just kind of sums stuff up, but also tells you what's coming up and there's a bit of like in the know, but thank you again for watching. Robin James: Tried and tested! Hope this helps you guys. EDIT: Yes, I filmed this before I shaved.

Strapping Young Ladam: Not necessarily thickening but the Volume set from Salon Guy is my favorite shampoo. I don't do many voluminous looks with how long my hair is but the Volume set gives my hair just enough life to not lay flat.

Rajeev soni: I literally have no idea why we haven't crossed 1m subscribers because your content is just too good Robin. I love your work keep growing.

Juraj Kučík: Goldwell anti hair loss, alterna caviar, and label.M thickening (Red) are my favs, having also tried nioxin 1 and 2 and kevin stimulate me wash.... All of these work quite well for my hair of a similar type to yours in terms of flyaways. If I am forced to pick the only one, I would probably go for Alterna

Sawawi Dangala: Hey Robin, I have a question about gray hair. I'm 29, and I don't have genetic premature graying in my family, but the last year and a half, which have been the worst year and a half of my life, my beard has turned gray, like 10-20% of it. Numerous random strains on my hair too. That past year has been the most stressed and depressed I've been in my entire life, and that started happening during along with a bunch of other problems, mentally and physically. I dont feel confident and feel old. I wouldn't dye it because I think it just doesn't look natural, and I'd rather just keep it. Do you have any suggestions or general tips ? Thank you

Shane Martin: Hi Robin, love your channel and your videos! So helpful. I know you’ve probably been asked this several times already, but how important is using a shampoo for your hair type? For example, I have thick hair, if I used a thickening shampoo; would that be a bad choice? My hair is thick, yet frizzy and quite wavy and I’m finding it impossible at the moment to find the correct shampoo/conditioner and product to tame it! Very close to giving up I am trying to grow it too which makes it worse in a way because it’s got so much volume and I cannot get it to lay flat and neat thank you!

Bogdan Oprea: Since September 2019 I switched to Nioxin System 1 (including Diaboost) and it literally changed my hair completely. You can feel the difference after 2-3 months - healthier, stronger hair. It also helps a lot in building long lasting natural volume and texture. I used Kevin Murphy before (Also amazing) and HDF, but Nioxin for those with a bit of thinning (or those who are afraid that they might be thinning) it is genuinely a game changer. Robin - Keep up the good work - I have now been a fan for the past 4 years and you never disappoint with your videos - well done. Looking forward to brand battle (hopefully coming back)

Sharn: Have you tried Kevin Murphy’s Plumping line for shampoos/conditioner? What’s the difference between that and the ones you discussed?

Andrew Hayes: If you haven't you should try lorel triple resist. Seems to good for my hair looks noticeable thicker after using.

Nik Imola: Have you ever tried Kerastase Densifique shampoo or Davines Volu shampoo? Do you recommend either of these brands for fine hair?

Claes Nørskov: It could be interesting to see you review cheaper products. I mean they can't all be bad, or?! :)

Douglas Haggerty: Awesome video. What sort of oils do you recommend for mens hair that is in the same vein (making the most of what you have)?? I’ve been looking at purchasing the Moroccanoil Treatment, just not sure if it’s worth it...

88PumaRed: Great video! Will you be doing a video of shampoo and conditions for gentlemen who have thick hair already? Also, I'm currently exploring and trying out a brand called Triumph and Disaster. So far they, seem very good. Could I suggest maybe doing a video on that brand in the future?

Whatsupdoc: Which of these do you think is better from your experience - nioxin or bumble and bumble? Cheers for the videos man

皓悦Haoyue: if you can, could you explain to me what’s the difference between Kevin Murphy’s Plumping line and their Stimulating line or are they the same thing ?~~ also thank you for your in depth video!! I enjoyed it!

MrDiscozero: Just started using Kevin Murphy stimulate me and rinse me, what can I say other than it’s brilliant stuff, I have short fine hair with widows peak receding hair line, love this stuff, from using the first wash and conditioner hair felt and looked thicker, doesn’t squeaky clean or gloss my hair, which I love, great smell too, rinse me tingle feeling is really nice in the morning! Big thanks to you Robin

vakamulla yuvaraj: what you are saying is 100% right and i also didn't use any shampoo for two month but instead i made a shampoo that will clean my hair and at the same time it has to retain the true color of my hair and maintain the oil balance...the result after one month was that my hair has grown bigger and my white and brownish hair has almost disappeared. i was astonished and shared a video in youtube. Today my hair is dandruff itchy free and its black and strong. I keep touching my hair and now iam not afraid at all...

A Dog In a Cowboy Hat: I gotta say Dr. Sasquatch works pretty well, I like to have my hair kinda fluffy in the back, and it works quite well, but it’s a lil pricey.

Kallum Brown: Absolutely love the channel. I need some help, my hair is currently swept back with tapered back and sides, and my hair is really fine so when I get out of the shower my hair doesn’t stay swept back with no product in it just flops down in front of my face, can anyone recommend shampoo, conditioner, Clay/wax/salt spray to help get that hold I’m after, thanks

Hussein Baghdadi: Hello James, great content as usual. I have one question please: I bought Nioxin system 1. I wash my hair three times per week. How often should I use Nioxin? I like to use Morris Motley Clay Shampoo once a week for example. Is that ok or it will stop Nioxin's full potential? Should I expect itchiness, red scalp and lose of hair at the beginning of using Nioxin? Thanks a lot for your time!

EMACK: How often should I wash / condition my hair using nioxin?

Taanish: Hey Robin, I've found that the Nioxin products contain all sorts of parabens and sulfates in them which are bad for you hair. What do you think about this?

Blayne: I appreciate your videos. Thanks! Would love some budget recommendations for products - available in the USA.

fussballfreak1: What do u think of the byVilain Rush Shampoo and Conditioner Robin? Did you tested it yourself?

Dan Kritzer: Thoughts about kerstait for thicknes? Worked great for me

garry: I have very thick hair and at 45years old i still luv looking after my hair in the best way possible so thank u for this video

Zac - Twowhoeat: Can we use nioxin for hair loss?

Aaron: I use TRESemme Collagen and Fullness, it really helps thicken my hair! :)

Mason Johnson: Now I have one issue... I'm not too concerned about the price of each individual brand. But if I'm going to purchase one, which one is the best looking for hair thickening and hair loss prevention

Avocado Deluxe: Have u tried the Plumping line also from Kevin Murphy? How is it different from the Stimulate one that u suggested?

Schofrenzy: I recommend you try watermans I have fine textured but a lot of it and I swear my hair is thicker and growing really fast !! Robin it’s a must !

Jalal Asif: God I needed this, thanks man!

B C: Hi robin. Are any of these shampoo good to use while using minoxidil?

Mario Baralta: This might be a dumb question but are these for people who want thicker hair or for people who ALREADY HAVE thicker hair?

Harz77: I just want a shampoo that helps me style after, I used Aussie Man keep it thick and it was the best, I’d let it try naturally then just run my hands through it and it’ll be the perfect style and texture to hairspray into place, any idea what shampoo is good for that thickness styling feel?

ian iskandar: Wish some day can meet this man.. thankyou Robin

General Grizzy: Robin you're a psychic. I was thinking about this for a while now. Thank you.

Muthuvel P: Appreciate your help

Sound Crave: I like that you don't pretend to be a chemist that explains all the components because most people don't understand chemistry so the product is always misrepresented. I am a chemist and I'm looking for advice based on empirical results and not the list of componets that I already understand. Thank you.

Paul Bowden: Robin I have recently purchased b&b thickening shampoo I have fine hair will I get the benefits from just using a shampoo alone

VIRAL OF ALL: I am using Nioxin from last 2 months and I didn't see any change but saw more hairloss. I don't think it really works.

0: Did you try Murdock London products(shampoo, conditioner, sea salt etc)? Pls make a video about this brand products

Abel Mwelwa: Just started using Kevin Murphy stimulate me and rinse me, what can I say other than it’s brilliant stuff, I have long fine hair with widows peak receding hair line, love this stuff, from using the first wash and conditioner hair felt and looked thicker, doesn’t squeaky clean or gloss my hair, which I love, fabulous smell too, rinse me tingle feeling is really nice in the all time.

PREPFORIT: Thank you. I will give some of those products a try.

BroWorld: Thanks Robin my favourites pretty much match yours

Dominik 7: Unfortunately this video is not for me my hair is so thick that it can stay in high volume all day without any product but I still use some products just to put the look on the next level

Combat Vet Gaming: What's the best Nioxin? for a man that is 39 years old with receding on the front side and thinning just starting! Plz help Sir?

Sammy Santoro: How do you feel about charcoal shampoo

Zak: Revita Shampoo + Conditioner by DS Laboratories are the best for the prevention of hair loss and hair thinning.

SpaghettiMonster: Crazy, I was just thinking, I wonder if he uses the Nioxin Scalp Treatment.. and then you answered. I don’t know if I noticed a difference with Nioxin. Been using it 3 months now. Tell me if I’m doing it right!? • I use Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner 3 times a week • I use another conditioner maybe once or twice a week in the meantime • I use the Scalp Treatment every night, but now I’ll probably use it 3 times a week now as I just started Rogaine (on my hairline/temples only)

Bro_iits_pacman: Anyone used the Nixion? Any reviews?

Felipe Reyes: Are nioxin products DHT blockers ?

Jaime Velasco: Why do you recommended products like Nioxin? It contains a lot of harmful ingredients that everybody should avoid?

Ali Hossain Anondo: I was balding - I was pretty amazed at how well Strongjack worked

Ya: Would you please do a video about gray hair treatment

Peacemaker: Wouldn't they make your hair less dense for thicker hair why would you want to make your hair even more thicker

Callum Adams 101: Have u tried salon guys shampoo?

garry: My hair is very dark and since i have chinese irish Scottish and English my skin goes tan in summer thats the Chinese side and also the very dark hair but i look 20 years younger cause i am 45years old but look like i am in my 20s and that is wired

Rafael Espinoza Jr.: I just recently purchased Nixon, how would you recommend I use it? I work in the kitchen five days a week so I have sweaty hair after work. I need a washing routine.
