It is one of the simplest things you can do to your hair and probably one of the most inexpensive that will have the most transformation of your hair. Hey guys welcome back to my channel. This is your first time here. My name is sylvia. I'M a professional hairdresser that brings you luxe at home, hair for those of you that are returning. You may have remembered a video that i put out years ago about chelating your hair, so basically to chelate the hair means to strip the hair of all unwanted pigment elements. Debris. Basically, everything you don't want in your hair in order to leave shiny, beautiful, bouncy healthy. Looking hair so in my very broke very poor cosmetology school years, i learned that you could chelate with either lemon juice or dawn dish. Soap and that's the video that i made and i've always been pretty daring as a hairdresser on my channel and have always brought you things that i personally love to do to my hair. That i feel will help you, despite sometimes being criticized by either other hairdressers. But at the end of the day, my philosophy has always been if it helps one person and 10 people are annoyed by it. I'M focusing on the one person that i am helping and because that video actually got a lot of traction, and it's still probably one of the videos that everyone that either meets me or a client that is sitting in my chair will bring up. And so the tip i have for you today. I can't believe i've never made a dedicated video for this, but it is one of the simplest things you can do to your hair and probably one of the most inexpensive that will have the most transformation of your hair, and for that we use these magical. Malibu c packets, when i first discovered these and started using these in the salon, it completely changed my way of not only doing hair, but even also now how i color and tone hair, so whether your hair is feeling dry and dull or way overtone or if Your ends just simply look brassy fatigued and a completely different shade than the rest. All of these are signs that the hair just has an accumulation of the elements in the air and either way too much processing, whether it's of color or of heat, so just quickly. I'M going to go over what these little packets do. First of all, they're these little packets, with these little crystals inside that you in the shower or at the shampoo, will dump onto your hands once your hands are wet, you massage into your hands until it creates a paste, and then you massage that paste through your Hair, i always like to start at the ends, because that's normally where the hair needs the most help, so what this essentially does is a deep cleanse into the hair without damaging it. So what will be left is actually shinier healthier, more beautiful hair than before. Now these malibu see packets, don't contain any bleach. That is the beauty in these. So these are quite different than say a color remover color oops. Those products actually contain a very low dose of lightener, which is what removes color and what these will do. These will remove everything, that's just sitting on the surface of your hair, so if your hair is already lightened, this will make your hair even lighter, because when we're lightening the hair, we are removing pigment right. So then, normally after we either tone some of us overtone. Some of us overuse purple shampoo and with time the hair tends to start looking dull if it is overtoned just from the elements this is going to remove. All of that. The worst thing that can happen is, if you remove too much toner, and then your hair starts to go a little bit yellow, so i would always recommend, especially for blondes, if you're going to be doing, this always follow with a good quality. Purple shampoo, my personal favorite, is the vanilla purple or the finola blue, if you're brunette, just so that you can cleanse the hair of everything, it doesn't need and just add back a little bit of pigment if needed. The difference between these is the brown one is for hard water, so this is great for brunettes redheads when you want to bring a shine back into the hair. This is going to eliminate brassiness discoloration, removes minerals from your hair and just leaves your hair purified. If you don't have a water softener in your shower, you will absolutely love these blondes can absolutely use these as well. But if you are blonde, i definitely recommend the malibu blondes. So i've always said on my channel that, in order for blonde to be beautiful, it needs to be healthy and it needs to be shiny. You can't ever get beautiful blonde color on hair that is dry, fatigued and straw like this brightens blonde hair, and it restores a vibrant, color and shine. The additional benefit of the malibu blonde is that it also infuses the hair back with some vital moisture. So i've always gotten these. Where i get my color, where you need to be licensed this year during the lockdown, i could not find them anywhere um and i resorted to amazon and found them. So i've now added them to my amazon shop, which i will leave a link down below and as far as how often you use these, i try to use them at least once a month with my clients in the salon, almost every single blonde client. I will use one of these. Another great use, for these is actually into the colder fall and winter months when everyone's kind of wanting more of this toned down hair color. But you still want a pop. So if you've ever overtoned, your hair or if you have in this lockdown, have been trying different things and you feel like your hair is now just an accumulation of everything that you've tried and you feel like you kind of just want to. Like start back at zero, i feel like this is one of the best inexpensive easiest way to do that or if you just want shinier healthier, looking hair, all right guys if you haven't tried doing this, i hope you give it a try. I hope you guys, let me know how it goes. I love giving you easy at home tricks that you can do to help and enhance your hair and, like i said, i can't believe i haven't shared this super easy trick with you. So i hope everyone is having a fabulous week, happy halloween to all and i'll see you in my next video bye,

anjeanettes channel: I started using both of these a couple of months ago and WOW!! My hair is so much shinier and healthier already!! I am trying to get the rest of some semi permanent dye out of my hair while going to my natural color. I do not want to use any lighteners at all, and these are a great way to help remove build up without resorting to any chemical color process!

S. M.: Thanks Sylvia. What do you recommend for those of us who are have medium to dark brown hair with dark blond highlights? The brown or purple packet? Both? Alternate? Also, just FYI in case you are not aware...there are shower head filters that filter out some of the harsher elements of hard water. You can find them for a reasonable price.

Kathy Steinhauer: Hi Silvia, my name is Isadora ( or Izi). I just wanted to tell you I think you’re awesome! I love how you put your knowledge and personal life out there! I am a former hairdresser myself, ( I had to stop for health reasons) and I really appreciate you! One thing I love about this industry, is you never stop learning! I just wanted to say thank you and I love you

Jennifer Lewis: Malibu C products are fabulous! Even though I have water filters for my shower, these powders are still great to use. I use the Hard Water treatment once a month, and I always do the Crystal Gel treatment before I color my hair. The Crystal Gel treatment makes a huge difference in how the color turns out on the hair.

Mel Chen: I used to use packets like these in the salon sometimes as a "first resort." In some cases, clients didn't need as much color correcting as first expected.

Annette: Ive also used Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother I mix equal parts distilled or bottled water and the ACV w Mohther. It leaves your hair like glass , soft and clear of all build up and crap we put it in. Im also a licensed hairdresser ( newly licensed :)) but I'm a huge fan of yours and natural solutions when you can't afford to get the profesh stuff.

Rhoades Traveled: My wonderful hair dresser gave me some of these to help me through the 12 weeks we are apart! Love them!

Christy Smith: This was a great pro tip. I tried the Malibu Blondes on my blonde hair. Gave me a nice lift . The scale therapy packet is wonderful for increasing hair growth. I will keep using this product

Peaceful Pups: Man, you're so awesome! Thank you! I did try the dawn soap (instead of lemon I used apple cider vinegar bc it's what I had) and it was freaking amazing! My hair did slightly smell of soap and vinegar for a few days no matter how much i re washed and rinsed but it was totally worth it. My "natural part" was like non existent and my hair just flip flopped every which way!

Kirsty Macfarlane: Thanks Silviya. I regularly deep cleanse my hair and then do a conditioning treatment. If I can get these in the Scotland, I'll definitely be trying them, much love xxx

Odalys Ruiz: You are awesome! I've been doing hair for 40 yrs! You've taught me a lot! We never stop learning! Unless we choose not to.I've always thought the younger stylist have a lot to teach. Thank you! Stay safe! ❤

lou lou: Sorry to hear other professionals in our industry slate things you do. The beauty about our industry is that it's art. There's no right or wrong. Obviously cutting hair has a method but we can mix things up and create new things. I wish you all the best. Xx

Marian Grob: Love this video, it came at just the right time! I'm wondering if this would work for the hair fiasco I just had. In getting my highlights done, the colorist painted a 5% volume bleach with conditioner on the length of my hair to brighten it, which also got on my natural darker color that I use for dimension, it lifted the darker color and transferred on to pale blonde and totally changed/ruined the color. I was hoping if it just stained the blonde pieces that there was something besides bleaching it again that could pull it out? Is this product worth me trying or would it make matters worse?

Allyson Sixx: What I’m most surprised about is that the reviews and ratings aren’t better. Seriously bcz they do EXACTLY everything Silvia is saying. ❤️

Ginger Hannigan, MA, LMHC, PA: Awesome! I learned about a "Malibu" about 20 years ago - and somehow it disappeared from the scene altogether and I am happy to hear your knowledge about the fact that it removes all the "crud" from minerals, products, hard water, etc. Appreciate your channel. :)

Tracy Stoltz: I have been using these for years, they are AMAZING!! Put them in 1/2 to 1 cup hot water (depending on length of hair) until they dissolve and turn to a gel then put onto dry hair and let hair dry (you can use blow dryer) with product in hair then shampoo and condition. Your hair will be so soft and color revitalized.

allyssumrose: I just found your channel after watching this video & I wish I had seen this a long time ago!! I've been dealing with damaged hair, brassy hair & I have really hard water! I didn't know what to do or what to use even though I have tried different things with 0 results!! I'm so excited to try these as I called them 'little gems'! Prayers & Wishes Lisa Hampton

darla ketelhut: Do you recommend after chelating hair to use Redken EQ shade toners at level 10 afterwards to keep even from yellow or brassy tones instead of blue or purple shampoo? And have you prepared a tutorial on the newer Redken EQ shades for level 10's?

C Dub: Your hair is beautiful! My mom used to use these about 25 yrs ago

Lisa Hall: Never heard of these, but think I need to try it your hair looks lovely

Ambyr Fifer: Elll is a legend. I love you Learn so much and your easy to watch. Some people are soo not easy to watch ☺️

GenXer™: Hi Sylvia, my hairstylist just asked me last night to ask you if you use permanent dye or a toner to do your shadowed root. I've been showing her your videos to get your colored root and beige blonde, but it keeps coming out too warm, including my roots. She said that to cover greys (which I have) that your color wouldn't be possible due to the dyeing of roots, then trying to bleach them when they grow out. I've spent thousands of dollars in the past nearly 2 years, and my hair still isn't mostly blonde. HELP!

Talton L: Very helpful! Thank you!

Kim Gold: I just got fresh highlights and they looked great a few weeks ago and now my roots are so brassy compared to the rest of my hair. I’m not sure what happened but the roots are a noticeably different color then the rest of my blonde hair. I will give the blue packet a try

Lotus flower: When using the Malibu C pack, do you use is after bleaching and before toning? THANKS!

Kimberley: Come to your channel to see what I can do I have bleached blonde hair was looking great but it’s just so dry and dull. Going to try these and fingers crossed going to look ok and healthier x

Améelia Mihoc: I love your educational videos , thank you.

Josie Martinez: Thank you, I can’t wait to get this.

candace young: I found it at Walmart for $4 a pk. Thank you so much. I am getting my hair highlighted this weekend. Life saver.

Ashley Ryder: Hey girl ;) so what about brown at the top and blonde at the bottom ombré hair? Which packet? Or both one at top one at bottom? Help! Thanks p.s you look gorgeous in this video, your hair has grown so much!

Sofia Mateo: Hi, Silvia So, I recently had a visit to my hair colorist and I noticed the past 2 times my hair color has not been the same as far as color. I found out that the salon stopped using the Redken brand and now only uses Wella. I know people say Wella is also a good brand, however, my hair doesn’t take to it well. I know you like Redken, but what are your thoughts/experiences with Wella?

Naomi Ackerman: Can you use apple cider vinegar instead of lemon juice to chelate?

Tamara Spasic: Hi Elle! Thank you for all your videos, you give us really usefull advice. Can I ask you if there is an alternative to this Malibu C Packs? I come from Italy, and here as far as I know we don't have this product :/

Bianca Becker: I just ordered these through your link. I couldn't believe how affordable they are. Thank you for telling us about Malibu C :) I can't wait to try

Andrea Seabaugh: I mix baking soda with my shampoo once a month. Not colored hair but it takes away the buildup from the drugstore shampoo/conditioner. I also have used the ion brand of these packets from Sally's.

Amber: Can I use the Malibu blondes after toning my hair? Like as a rinse? Or should I wait a few days for those?

McK Custom & Vinyl Design LLC: I'm glad I came across your channel! I'm having problems with severe hair loss... I'm sure it's from menopause... and I'm at the end of my rope with these handfuls of hair in my hands in the shower. It's freaking me out. I'm revamping my hair care... and getting Aura for scalp, conditioner for scalp and moisture with purple, and masque for repair and moisture. I'm 75% grey/silver. I'm hoping the brown packet will work for my dark strawberry blonde with all that grey? If it doesn't work real well, I'll try the one for blondes. I also found Malibu C for scalp. I'm also grabbing that to exfoliate my scalp in case that is also contributing to my issue. I appreciate all your knowledge and desire to pass it along!

Marianne Donato: Can you give your comments on some of the negative reviews the product receives an Amazon? I’m interested in it but there’s a lot of people that say it turned their hair orange or brassy. Is this because it removed whatever toner they may have had in their hair?

Healthy and Loving Life: I've used Drybar Blond Ale and I think it's a similar product.

J Foti: Wow! I haven’t used that since cosmetology school!

Jessica Lubien: I live in a new house with really hard water. I am a natural blond. It gets darker every year. I am 44. Should I use the one for hard water or the one for blondes? I recently did a 20 volume developer mask so it is a bit lighter on top but still a level 8 underneath.

FBI Agent Frank: I used to swear by these packets but since I bought a water filter for my shower I haven't needed one in months! They work miracles but if you're looking for a longer lasting solution check out some of the cheaper shower filters on Amazon.

Marianne Donato: I have hard water in my home and I know from my bathroom fixtures that we have a lot of rust, this would help that for my hair it sounds like! Also you advised on the Fanola purple mask in a previous video and I got it. OMG it’s amazing! I mix with the Olaplex conditioner or Pureology strength cure conditioner and wow. Love. Thanks! I’ll check this chelating product out.

KP R: What would you suggest for a person who is transitioning to gray hair with oxidized brunette (orangey) ends?

samira danesh: My Blonding game changed when I stoped toning everyone and stoped over toning!! Love this concept!

Beach Life: Question...my stylist uses just color on my hair (no bleach) for a dirty blond/carmel look. Should I use the purple packet that you showed for blondes OR the turquoise packet "Malibu C Miracle Repair Wellness Hair Reconstructor" also by same company...my hair type is fine and tends to be dry in middle area. Thank you!!

AngieBChic: I went on Amazon to look at the reviews before I purchased and the reviews are horrid. A LOT of girls have photos showing they’re hair discolored and DESTROYED!! Absolute breakage and knots and clumps of hair coming out ! So glad I checked the reviews! I can’t believe Elle Bangs /Sylvia would recommend these!!!! don’t buy them!

Simple Nail Designs: Very informative

Vee Plopez: Love your gorgeous hair!!

Jen the bubble: Can you recommend a toning shampoo for red/copper hair?

aburningpromise: Hi, love your channel. I just bleached my dark hair lifted 6 levels. It has a weird coating on it and isn't shiny. Will one of these packets help to restore? Which should I use? THANKS. By the way, your hair is HOT!

willaminaviolet: I haven’t tuned in for awhile. Just wanted to say you look beautiful. Now I want to try blonde again! I plan on scheduling a virtual consultation soon. Take care.

Beauty CHarbin: I need to try these. I got the wow dream filter it made my hair feel bad. But it did take the orange out!!!♡ I have a filter on my shower but idk if it works like they say.. I started using PK pre shampoo treatment and I love it!!! I finally found a great shampoo that has violet in it and it heals my hair . Sliver shine shampoo by milkshake. I also use a great mask. Bc I dont wash my hair but once a week. :) I'm trying to grow it back out with no spilt ends. So I'm getting it cut every other month , just a dusting:)♡

Mayra J: I just came across your video and I already love how you explain things. I need help, my 18 year old son is loosing hair by the second. His main area of hair loss is on his front ends of the forehead. His primary doctor did bloodwork everything checked out normal and all she recommended was Minoxidil 5%. Can you please recommend a great product that you know of first hand to really work wonders? (I’m crossing my fingers you know something that’s specific and aimed for men)

Kayla Danielle: Question: towards the end of the video, you threw up a picture of toned down/brown hair..what color would you call that?? It's BEAUTIFUL ❤thank you so much for this!! your videos are always to informative❤

Silviyaa Peach: Can I use crushed vit C instead of the c packets?

Sian Hughes: Puts all what was said in to Amazon basket I recently bleached 3 times full head my ends are dry rest of my hair feels amazing

Julie A.: Can this be used on natural silver/gray hair?

Gary Zimmerman: Interesting video. My question is, which one is best for salt and pepper hair?

Monica V: Can you use this for highlighted hair?

Agueda Perez: I love how your lips turned out, could you tell us where you did them, apart from thanking you for all the good things you recommend us in your videos, I love you.

Ella V: I’ve been using Malibu for years and I love it too!

Caron P: How soon would it be wise to use Malibu C for blondes after a color treatment and olaplex?

vitamincrc: if you’re blonde but live in a place with very hard water (France), should you still go with the blonde packet over the hard water packet?

Melissa Hoots: Can I use the Malibu blonde for my silver/grey hair?

arnwl: Is kelating the hair recommended for curly/kinky dry hair?

Julia Shalom Jordan: Thank you!!! Love your tips and product faves!

M: Hi I just did my keratin may I use this ? Or will it strip the service done ?

Pixievette: Luv luv this vid. Ms.Silvia I will definitely try these. I need to refresh & remove the buildup. I was curious about the fanola thanks for adding that.

PaulaBGood: I totally still do the old school kelating method that I learned from you!!! I LOVE it!!!!

Lisa Reese: I did highlights for my hair but since last March I haven't done it except to go to sally beauty supply and get a ash color (because I bought one at the store and got red in my hair I can't use golden which I didn't know) so my hair is quite dark on top but still blonde on sides and ends which I love that color just hate the top would this Malibu c product be worth it for me to use or wouldn't do nothing for me where it's dark on top Also what is it called in the ion brand

Makayla Elise: Can you please do a dedicated video on how to properly use Olaplex no 3?

A L: Is this safe for color treated hair? I like my hair color and don’t want to mess it up

Nadja gallardo: Can you use it on nonbleached hair?

Julie Conley: Can you use more than one at the same time?

Robin Brennan: Thanks for this. Just ordered them.

Mary Beth Wylie: Thanks for this!!
