Hey guys welcome back to my channel, I am so excited for today's video. We have quite the review for you, I'm going to be reviewing the brand function, a beauty, I'm super excited, because a lot of you guys have asked my thoughts and opinions on this brand and wanted me to actually post a review for it. So this is for those of you that requested it and I purchased all of the products that you can get from function of beauty. So I have their customized shampoo, conditioner, hair, mask leave-in treatment and then hair serum. So not only am I going to be giving you my in-depth thoughts on each of those products. I did look up every single ingredient in every single one of those products. I went there, but I'm also going to be showing you guys these products in action. So I have in shower clips of using the shampoo conditioner and mask and then post showered cliffs of the leave-in treatment and the hair serum. So we have a lot to get through in today's video and we will jump right into that. But before we do, if you could, please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and click on that notification belt. That would help me out a lot. It would mean a lot to me because I upload 3 to 5 days a week for you guys if you want to follow more of my life day-to-day behind the scenes. You can definitely go. Follow me on instagram and tik-tok. I will have all of that information in the description box below for you alrighty. Let'S talk function of beauty, okay, so if you're not familiar with the brand function of beauty at all, don't worry. I wasn't either actually until people started commenting about it here on my channel function of beauty, it they say on their site is actually the world's first customizable haircare brand, which is pretty cool, so the whole concept behind function of beauty is that you actually take a Hair quiz and select specific hair needs that you're looking for, and then they will customize products for you, based on your selections in that quiz send them on over, and then you have your personalized set. So they actually have a lot of different hair goals that you can choose between, but the bummer is that you can only choose five and while I feel like that covers your needs for the most part, I think the thing is if that makes you feel like You'Re leaving things out, and there are things that you would still want to accomplish, and your shampoo and conditioner set that you then can't because you can't select it do you know what I mean I'll put in a screenshot here of the goals that you can select From some of them definitely start to kind of mean the same thing, if you ask me like replenish and nourish that kind of means the same thing to me: deep conditioned and hydrate yeah, you know so some of those are kind of the same, but still when I was selecting them I was like well, I want to choose that one too, and you can only pick five and actually, when you get your package, they send you this little brochure that has your hair goals explained right here, and that also has just kind of Some tips and tricks on application and how and when to use these products and then, of course, the ingredients on the back, which is most important. So the hair goals that I selected were anti-aging replenish hair, soothe, scalp, strengthen and volume eyes anti-aging. I was really excited about because it kind of I feel like is an all-encompassing term. It says it's to revitalize and strengthen your hair to prevent premature aging caused by environmental stressors heat, chemical styling and nutrient loss. So that's where I kind of feel like that covers replenishing the hair and nourishing the hair. So I felt good about that, but I still did select replenish the hair because that's also supposed to help with damage. You know we could all use some extra nourishment after the crap we put our hair through with all of our heat products. I chose soothe scalp because I have seborrhoeic dermatitis on the back of my scalp and I really suffer from itching and irritation. It'S thankfully, just in one spot for me, so it's not all over my scalp, but the other reason that I chose. That is because I actually only wash my hair once a week, so I just really wanted to make sure I had products that were fully removing any sort of product build-up that I had going on. There strengthen kind of goes without explaining and then volumize. I selected because my hair definitely lies pretty flat. If I let it air dry, it's not really gon na have any volume at all, and part of that is just because of how long it's gotten it kind of weighs it down, but also, I just don't, have the most voluminous hair to begin with. So those are the hair goals that I selected. The other thing that drew me to function of beauty is that you can actually specify if you want your shampoo and conditioner to be fragrance free, which was really important to me again because of my submarine Erma. Titus fragrance is a known irritant and something I've been doing a ton of research on. So I will be uploading a video here soon on some of my favorite fragrance free skincare products, if you guys are interested, make sure to stay tuned. For that, but same thing goes for haircare and the scalp. I don't want to put anything on my scalp, that's a known irritant, because it's already irritated back there. So the other thing that I'm seeing now on their site that I actually didn't notice before is that you can also choose a silicone free formula for your shampoo and conditioner. So if you do not want silicone and either of those products, you can specify that as well. So that's super cool on this sheet. They do also give directions, as far as how frequently to use these products and what to use them for so this mask. It says just as normal part of your shampoo and conditioner routine. You can use it once a week or twice monthly, and then you would want to leave it in for three to five minutes before rinsing. But if you have extreme damage, it actually says that you can use it on a more regular basis and you can actually place it on your hair for up to thirty minutes, just even with like a plastic cap over it and let it really soak up that. Hydration and then rinse it the leave-in treatment. They said that you can use it daily or for touch-ups, and you can use it both on wet hair and dry here, which is nice and then the same thing goes for the serum. You can use it daily for touch-ups on wet hair or dry hair all right now, let's talk about each of the products individually. So first, let's start off with their shampoo and, like I said in the beginning, I looked up every single ingredient in every single product, because I just really wanted to get an understanding of what this brand was about. Do they actually use high quality ingredients? Are they filled with a lot of things that are bad for the scalp or for our hair? I don't want to use anything, that's going to overly damage my hair. I'Ve done a lot of work to reverse hard water damage and damage from bleaching. My hair from getting highlights, I'm sorry, I was just looking you up it in that me to do that and just heat damage as well, and that has taken a lot of work for me. So I just I'm trying to be more cognizant of the products that I'm putting onto my hair, so I've been using pure ology and olaplex actually, and I also have Kerastase. I have a video on my review of all of those products, I'll put a card for that here and link it below, and I also talked through the brand lunge in that video, which I had a terrible experience with. So if you've been curious on that one, that's all available for you below, but I was already using pretty high quality hair care. So I wanted to make sure that I wasn't downgrading here. So I'm looking down here because I actually have my list of all the ingredients and kind of the notes about what they do. But I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed by the ingredient list and the shampoo that I have. There is not a single ingredient in here, that's known, to be damaging or irritating for the hair, which i think is incredible, and not only does it not have ingredients like that, but it just has a lot of amazing ingredients that are known to be really good. At replenishing conditioning and restoring the hair, so I'm going to read quickly. Some of those ingredient highlights so one of those is glycerin, and that is an ingredient that I'd love to see within skincare as well. They also just have some really good plant extracts not to be confused with essential oils, but just things that are antioxidants and known to help to a condition and soothe the hair. So one of those things is algae extract and another word that I really can't pronounce Tramel of fousey form is sporocarp extra. You guys know I'm terrible at these pronunciations. Oh my gosh, but just a lot of really good things that all falls in the category of restoration, nourishment conditioning which I just loved to see and an ingredient that I was specifically looking out for is called sodium. Lauryl sulfate, that's an ingredient that is in so many haircare products, and that is not a good ingredient for the hair. Not only is it a known sensitizer within skin care and hair care products, but it's also known to damage the hair, especially if you have color treated, hair or heat damaged or hard water damage, not something we want to be putting on our hair. But unfortunately, it's in a lot of products, so I was very excited to see that there is no sodium lauryl sulfate in this and then as far as application and use of this shampoo, you guys can see here. It does lather up really nicely and you actually don't need to have lather or that foaming sensation and a shampoo to properly cleanse the scalp. It'S actually just something. That'S added to hair care, to kind of make. You feel like you're, getting your proper clean, but I actually really like it because I feel like it's just easier to disperse it all over my scalp and make sure that I'm really getting that deep clean in there. Because again, that's really important to me. Since I only wash my hair once a week - and I don't have any complaints about this shampoo - I did go ahead and use this shampoo two times in the same shower, to really make sure that I was removing any sort of product build-up. I do that all the time, no matter what shampoo I'm using. So that wasn't because I felt like I wasn't getting a deep clean already, but that's a little tip that I have if you're somebody that's looking to increase the longevity between washes. It actually really helps me to make sure that my hair doesn't start to get too oily after I wash it that I can really last that full week so other than that, nothing more to really say about the shampoo. I liked it a lot and it does not leave my hair or my scalp feeling dry or itchy or tight, which is very important to me. That definitely can happen to me with shampoos. My hair just felt clean. It felt good. I was ready to go okay as far as ingredients for this conditioner, I would say initially. I was even more blown away at some of the ingredients in here. As far as being a really nourishing hydrating product things like argan oil, coconut fruit extract coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, shea butter evening, primrose oil, avocado oil - like oh, my goodness, you guys so many things that are amazing to be putting on our hair, they're super conditioning And just known again to help to soften hydrate. Oh, I was super excited about that, but unfortunately there were a few ingredients within this conditioner that I didn't love. So a couple of those ingredients are just because they are known to potentially cause sensitivity and irritation. One of those is menthol and I have to say, oh, I feel like I burned my nose yourself. The menthol scent is very intense, and my guess is that they put that in here to try to cover up and mask maybe an unpleasant odor from some of the other ingredients that were already in here. Another ingredient that you will often see that serves that same purpose within skin care and hair care is just called masking fragrance, which just serves the purpose of masking or covering up an unpleasant odor. So that's my guess as to why they added that. To this I can't think of any other reason. I don't know I just don't associate minty sense with conditioning and hydrating. If anything, I would associate minty scents with revitalizing and cleansing, even though they definitely don't do those things any sort of mint extract. It'S just a known irritant, so the reason I am okay with it in a conditioner is because I'm not putting conditioner on my scalp while, yes, some of the product is inevitably going to touch my scalp. I really am focusing it on my ends and even though I obviously don't want to be putting things on my hair at all that are known irritants, I have yet to come across a haircare brand that is free from all possible irritants. You know so that one it's like I'm, okay with that and I'm glad it's not in the shampoo, because I feel like that would really really irritate my scalp. It also has finesse all. I don't know if I'm saying that right, I'm probably not alcohol, which is an ingredient, that's also potentially sensitizing, and then the two ingredients on here that also are known to be sun. Taizo are isopropyl alcohol and iso Coolidge. All I had the words here for a reason: okay, so those are not great ingredients to have in beauty products, but the thing about those two ingredients is that I actually noticed that they are also in my bottles of pure ology and Kerastase. So my guess is that a lot of other haircare products have those ingredients, and I personally love pure ology. It'S my all-time favorite, even though it has those ingredients, so you know take it with a grain of salt, but I did want to call that out. I'M not really sure I haven't done a ton of research on those ingredients, so I'm not really sure what they could use in place of those ingredients. I wouldn't be curious. I might reach out to them and ask what that's about you guys think I should and then, as far as application and consistency of this conditioner aside from that unpleasant scent, I did like everything else about it. I actually really liked that this isn't too thick. I feel, like sometimes conditioners when they feel too thick and hydrating and almost like a balmy mask. I immediately can tell that they're going to weigh down my hair, because again I just have hair that lies pretty flat, but this, I feel like was a good combination of feeling, hydrating and moisturizing and soft on the hair, while still being lightweight so that I didn't Feel like it was gon na weigh it down, you know, so. Is it perfect? No, but have I ever found a perfect conditioner as far as the ingredient label goes no all right, then we have their rinse off mask. This is not one that you leave in, but you just use it in the shower and let it sit on your hair and then rinse it out so again, a lot of really good ingredients that stood out to me and actually a lot of similarities between this Mask and the conditioner as far as some of those hydrating ingredients, so this also has argan oil in it. This has sweet almond seed, cake extract, which is supposed to be a replenishing ingredient. That'S vitamin E! Yes, this also has evening primrose oil, which is supposed to be a skin soothing plant extract. It has jojoba esters. Another plant extract, that's a great emollient, so I mean again a lot of really awesome things in here. The things that are not so great also has menthol it's not nearly as intense as the conditioner, but it's still there and I just don't like it, and this does also have the isopropyl alcohol and a so Coolidge all that the conditioner has so kind of same Type of deal here, while there are a lot of great ingredients, it's not perfect, so keep that in mind, but I did really enjoy the application of this one as well. The consistency is really nice. It'S definitely thicker than the conditioner, which is what you would expect from a mask, and it did feel really nice and soft and hydrating on the hair. After using all three of these products, I felt like my hair felt conditioned if I use a conditioner and a hair mask and my hair still after that feels dry and kind of snarly and tangly and hard to brush through. That is a huge know. For me, that's not gon na work and that's actually what happened to me after using lunge, so my hair felt really nice approved and that scent so far actually was just thinking, though, as a train went by and I had to shut off my camera that the Addition of menthol means that those products actually are not truly 100 % fragrance free. They are free of added fragrance, but menthol is considered to be fragrance, so I am gon na email them actually and see if they can remove those from these products and I'll. Let you guys know in my follow-up video if they get back to me and what they say. Okay, now, let's move on to their leave-in treatment, so same type of deal here, a lot of really awesome: impressive ingredients. We have avocado oil. We also have vitamin E. We have argan oil, we have phospholipids. I think I said that right. Actually, those are emollients that are known to be skin. Replenishing we have SID, iam will have a leak. Sid iam guava leaf extract antioxidant plant extract phytosterols esters, those are skin, replenishing and skin soothing ingredients. So I know that I'm reading all of these in the sense of skin. But again we have to remember our scalp is skin. You know so we want to. We want to treat our hair and our scalp, but, with the same respect that we treat our face, this has squalane in it to which i got very excited to see squalene is a skin replenishing emollient as well, that has antioxidant properties great for hydration. That is it as far as the really beneficial ingredients are obviously or others, but we're not reading those all here. This does have quite a few fragrant plant extracts, so it has lavender oil, peppermint oil eucalyptus, leaf oil, limonene Lin, Alou line Alou. I don't know which one of those two it is so all things that kind of sound like. Oh, I would want that in my hair care products. I would want that in my skin care products at first, but when you do a little bit of deeper digging and look into it further, you will see those ingredients are all just fancier words for fragrance and again fragrance is a known irritant, however, because I'm not Putting this directly on my scalp, I'm not as concerned with that, as I would be a shampoo all right and then as far as application, the consistency is definitely interesting. I feel like I went in with too much it's not the most lightweight leave-in product and, typically when I use any sort of leave-in product, it's actually just a spray. So I use the pure ology sprays to help to condition and detangle my hair and also to serve as heat protectants. So this is definitely thicker than that and feels a little bit more like a leave-in mask hybrid. So I don't know that this is something that I would use after every shower, just because of that, because my hair life ladder, but it's something that I want to play around with and see if I use less product kind of how I feel about it. The smell of this, though, is atrocious, so at first you absolutely can smell that really minty peppermint extract in there that's intense, but then it kind of morphs into a black licorice scent, which is one of my worst nightmares. I hate licorice. I hate the scent of black licorice. It really grosses me out, so the fact that that leave-in product smells like that. I don't know what would exactly cause that I don't know you guys, but that makes me want to say like no to that just because I can't handle that. However, I cannot smell my hair. My hair does not smell like licorice or mint at all. Actually smells nice, so if I was still able to smell that on my hair, I would say huge No, but I think it's gon na be okay. So that's what I'm gon na have to continue to keep you guys updated on. It did help to make my hair feel soft. My hair was definitely brushable, but it's just something different for me and then finally, we have their hair serum, so this serum did not have any ingredients in it that are known, sensitizers or irritants, which is amazing. That makes me super excited, and this just has a lot of really awesome ingredients similar to the ingredients that we have in the conditioner in the mask and in the leave-in product. This also has sunflower seed oil, argan oil, vitamin E safflower seed oil, cold-pressed jojoba seed oil, so just a lot of really good antioxidants, emollients skin replenishing ingredients, so those are all great things to have in a serum. Is this something that I would use every time? I wash my hair, I don't know because I do feel like my ends, while my hair looks shiny, which we'll get to, I feel like my ends, look little bit greasy a little bit and I probably feel like that's because I used too much of the leave-in And too much of the hair serum and I need to just go in with the lighter hands next time. So again it felt great. On my hair, I enjoyed the application, no issues there, I'm just like hmm, I don't know if it'll work long-term but of course I'll keep you updated. So let's talk about my hair to wrap things up. I decided to just blow dry, my hair, and I wanted to just leave it right after I blow dried it and not really style it too much. I did go in with a little bit of a round brush, but then I quit because I hate round brushing it's really hard for me, so we're not styled. I didn't straighten it and I wanted to make sure I didn't curl it. So we could truly see what was going on so right away. I was very impressed by the amount of volume that my hair had you guys can see. I had a lot of volume from these products, which is amazing. That was one of the things I selected. So they delivered on that for sure, and that also I just we noticed the shine that my hair had. I don't feel, like my hair ever really looks shiny with the products that I'm currently using, so that was nice. I feel like it just looked a little closer than usual, but that ends might be a little too shiny for me. So my hair feels super soft right now it feels brushable. It just feels good. You guys. I don't feel like it's weighed down. It has that volume, so truthfully, I'm very impressed with how my hair looks and I'm really excited to continue to use these products and just see the transformation that happens with my hair. I know this does not look impressive from a styling perspective, but that's not the point of this video I feel like it would be misleading if I styled my hair heavily because you wouldn't really be able to see not to mention all of my layers and bangs Are totally grown out? Oh my gosh. Oh so I mean ignore that. It'S not why we're here. So that's everything. As far as my deep dive review of the brand a function of beauty right off the bat. Is it a brand? I would recommend I'm going to say for sure. I know I obviously haven't used these products for a long period of time, but I can say just in comparing their ingredient labels to other brands. Yes, they might have had a couple of those irritants that other brands already had, but they have so many incredible ingredients that even things like pure ology did not have included so pure ology. I feel like had a few really good ingredients, but not a huge list of them. The ingredient labels here from function of beauty are like two to four times the size of pure ology, just meaning, there's more goodness in there. So I am super impressed overall right off the bat with this brand. I'M really excited about it and you guys definitely are gon na have to stay tuned. I think I'll probably do like a one month update. Maybe a three month update, we'll see and then I'll continue to keep. You guys updated on how I feel about these leave-in products that I wasn't so sure about, and if they get back to me about the menthol and the licorice scent coz that I just can't deal with that's everything that I have to say. I hope that you guys enjoyed this video. Definitely let me know in the comments below if you are interested in trying function of beauty after watching this or what your thoughts are on this brand if you're currently using I'm super curious at the very least, I'm just excited that this is not another one of Those scams - that's too good to be true that if anything makes me happy, so that's everything if you have anything else, you would like to see from me next on this channel. Please leave that in the comments below I love connecting with you there, otherwise, my next video will be up in a few days. So until then, I hope you have a great few days.

Abbey Yung: 1 month function of beauty update video here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXMz8qraJjY&t=431s

Makenzie Gash: I've been waiting for an honest non-sponsored review of this company. And you read the ingredients YASSSS girl!!! Love it! Thank you!!

Kari Sanchez: The menthol is in the “Soothe scalp” option you help break up buildup and give a really refreshing feeling. If you switch the “Soothe scalp” to something else, you won’t have menthol in future formulations. Also, if you choose unscented for the other products, the leave in conditioner will still be defaulted to their eucalyptus mint scent. It is not available in an unscented version. (Yet. I’ve written and begged them to make a fragrance free version so hopefully they’ll listen) If you choose a different scent, it will match whatever you choose for the others. -a fellow beauty lover with similarly sensitive skin and scalp.

Ashley Nicole Dickerson: I bought function of beauty at the beginning of the month, then saw a video where someone said that they experienced hair loss, and I FREAKED OUT because I already have pretty thin hair then I saw your review and instantly felt better! I'll have to wait and see if I experience more hair loss than normal

JurieWolfie: For your question about menthol and why they put it in there. It is incredibly soothing for skin conditions and actually cools any burning or itching sensations you might get from other hair care products. Very good for dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema. Thats why its a key ingredient in head and shoulders ✨

SaucyGalMakeup: I was one of the viewers that asked you about this! Girl, when you're emailing them about the scent...you need to be asking for a sponsorship like hello!!! You put a ton of work into this and all of your videos! I was surprised that you didn't get the purple hue for blonde hair. And...pls don't tell me you're a hairstylist among the other 50 jobs you have! Your color is looking a little too good for quarentine. (one thing you left out was the price, unless I missed it.)

Viola Langer: Wow, I was so happy to see this review! I appreciate it so much that you researched each ingredient. I have a sensitive scalp as well and also curly hair. Finding a fragrance free (and SLS free) shampoo that makes my hair look nice seems impossible. So naturally FOB seems intriguing to me! However, I'd flip if they put essential oils and menthol in my products after I select fragrance free. I think emailing them is a great idea! They might just not be aware that these things are still fragrance and sensitizing. They seem to be open to ideas as well. I think silicone free wasn't an option a couple months ago either.

Lena Bess: I actually just got my first order of Function of Beauty last week. I have used it 3 times and its amazing! I absolutely love the way my hair feels now.

Nia Vaia: I’ve been using FOB for about two years now and I absolutely love it. I stopped using the shampoo just because I needed something a little better for my oily scalp, but the conditioner and serum have made my hair so much stronger and shinier. 100% recommend to anyone on the fence about it!

Anusna Roy: I've been using the brand for a while now... I'm currently on my second set. One thing I will say is that it is so important to get your hair profile correct. The first time around, I put in "medium" for my hair profile instead of "fine" because I honestly didn't know for sure and I didn't get the best usage out of the products. However, the second time around, I got everything correct and honestly, this is the best my hair has looked in YEARS. I'd highly recommend. Oh and also, as someone who has suffered with hair loss for many years, the products did not cause any additional hair loss for me. :))

Courtney Elizabeth: I've been dying to try this brand! I decided to try olaplaex instead though because I've been wanting to try both brands and olaplaex was on sale during Sephora's event but your video made me so excited to try function of beauty!

Michaela J: I was so excited when I first heard about Function and I saw they had a fragrance free option. Fragrance in hair products is a huge problem. I have eczema and I want fragrance-free products that I don't have to spend tons of money for.

Shawntel Atlixqueno: Hey! I just ordered my first set of Function shampoo and conditioner, thank you so much for this video it really helped me feel more secure to invest in these products, also just started following you with just watching the one video! Very thorough and informative

Ioana Catuneanu: Thank you for your thorough review! I especially appreciate the fact that you showed your whole process and that you did not style your hair to show a true and honest result. Hope you continue to see great results

Trillie E: isopropyl alcohol is actually not too bad for your hair its more of an ingredient that helps active the other ingredients so it can help function the needs they also have a very low percentage of it in the product, im sorry idk much ab the other ingredients tho

Genoa Aspen Girl: I’ve been using Function of Beauty for two months and I love it. I can honestly say, my hair has never felt better. Looking forward to using the tips to get to once a week washing. I’m about every 3 days now. Great channel!❤️

jcjccmz: Since you mentioned you review F.O.B. in your comment w/me yesterday, I had to find this video today; I'm so impressed with how thorough this is and I truly appreciate that it is not sponsored or an affiliate video. Your ingredient analysis definitely is more informative than other F.O.B. reviews I've seen and for sure lets us know how the brand stands out from other hair products. I've thought brands like pureology did a good job on my hair but the fragrance is so strong that I wondered whether it was irritating my neck & chest where I have eczema flares. By the way, I was wondering whether your once-a-week shampoo routine is something that has been recommended by a dermatologist for you or whether it is what you have found to work the best for you? For seborrheic dermatitis, doctors recommend more regular washing of the scalp and removing shampoo/conditioner thoroughly each time (as well as no styling products but sometimes they say these crazy unrealistic things, amirite?!). The yeast on your scalp overgrow when it has a lot of excess sebum/oil and scalp buildup (dead skin cells, styling products/dry shampoo!) to eat, and their overgrowth causes your scalp's immune response to itch and shed skin cells. I wonder if you tried washing your hair (mainly scalp) 2x a week or even every other day, whether your scalp would improve. Thanks for doing this terrific video; I'm looking forward to your 1-month follow up!

Jessica Biocca: The menthol is because you selected "soothe scalp". I selected that as a goal with a 3rd order of mine with this company & that was literally the only thing I changed with regard to hair goals. Also, if you have a hair goal for your scalp, the conditioner SHOULD touch your scalp. That's the whole point.

Johanna: I got my fob products two weeks ago. Today I was at the hairsalon where i always go. And she asked what i did to my hair because it was never that pretty. I also tend to get breakouts from drugstore shampoo and it is slowly healing :)

Sassybanjo: I like Function of Beauty. I reordered once, but for the price I like a salon line better. Especially since Ulta has 1/2 price sales on 33 oz. bottles.

Regan Wing: When you click the "reduce brass" goal it warns you that the product will be a deep purple. It would be nice if they did that with the "soothe scalp" with a fragrance warning so people wanting fragrance free are aware before they choose it.

Natalia Migliore: I’m new to your channel and absolutely loving all your videos. I think you do so much research before purchasing/trying on new things whether it’s hair care products or supplements and i love that about you! I’m sure your channel will grow exponentially. Xoxo

Hannah Jaffe: It’s interesting to watch different (non sponsored) reviews from different hair types. I just watched a girl with 4c hair use function of beauty and it rly didn’t work for her, but it works fine for this hair type!

Bella Isa: You should do a skincare routine and a hair wash routine !!!

Michelle Lynn: There are 2 recommendations I can make for you to try if you’re interested. I used to use Pureology but silicones brought on the seborrhea and I went silicone free, best decision ever. Scents will trigger migraines and skin irritations as will essential oils so I feel like we have similar needs. I found Phillip Adam Fragrance Free Shampoo and Conditioner on Amazon, they have great reviews and quality ingredients. Waiting for mine to get here. Also there’s FragFre on Amazon which has basic, good ingredients and good reviews as well. Both are silicone free. Would love to see if you like these and just a suggestion about going silicone free, it took years for my dermatologist to determine that was the cause of not only seborrheic dermatitis but also folliculitis.

Caitling123: I have discovered you pretty recently and I’m like binge watching your videos Iv seen Dr. Dray (dermatologist ) on YouTube recommend this brand as well and it’s made me so curious to try. Also, can’t wait for the fragrance-free video! ‍♀️

penelope: I have been curious about this brand and I really enjoyed your video. You put in so much great information and it was much appreciated. I am new to your channel and you have already taught me a lot. Take care!

Mrs. Christie Hanna Alexander: Thank you so very much for this AWESOME Review! I have been on the fence for weeks now about trying Function of Beauty, but girl now, TOTALLY PRESSING THE "CONFIRM ORDER" button ! You are amazingly helpful ! On an off note, your makeup looked BEAUTIFUL! I couldn't seem to take my eyes off that terrific Cut Crease! WOW !

2010Elinor: Hi! Thank you so much for making this video. I am a loyal Pureology user, so I am really interested in your comparison of these two brands/products long term. Great video ☺️

Demi Desiree: Licorice may smell bad but it’s soooo good for soothing the skin! It’s one of the best ingredients out there for that. Agree on the menthol though, they should make the fragrance free option actually fragrance free

Bassem Sadfi: Im really impressed by the products!!!! But just one note, I did some research on vitamin e ( asked my dermatologist and also searched on Google) and I found out that it is an irritating ingredient and a common allergen

Sian Thomson: Omg thank you so much that was so helpful. Definitely going to check out some of your other videos. I have incredibly oily hair and I'm so fed up of supermarket brands. I have been looking into some decent brands and was thinking of trying pureology (which I still might) but I'm definitely tempted to give this a go. X

Christina Tores: *New Subscriber* I am so thankful for you in depth review! I was on the website doing my quiz and wanted to hear some reviews and results to see if it was worth it. Thank you so much for doing your research and giving us a thorough review! :)

Julia Lynn: My function of beauty is coming TODAY so I’ve been watching so many reviews and I’m so happy I came across your channel

simran manku: I want to get function of beauty because I have a really oily scalp but my ends are sooo dry. Thank you for this review because it’s really honest and in depth!

sar a: Please report back when you hear from them regarding the menthol scent! Both my shampoo and conditioner have a strong menthol scent, despite being fragrance free. There's also no menthol listed in my ingredients and I didn't choose scalp soothing. I used the conditioner on my body and it burned! Like this cooling burning sensation from menthol, but really intense. Even on my legs it was really uncomfortable. The shampoo doesn't burn, but I'm still concerned that it'll irritate my scalp, since my scalp is already very dry and sensitive. I'm from Europe, so it doesn't make sense for me to return the products, but I don't think I'll repurchase.

Gayle's BeautyCorner: After hearing mixed reviews I decided to place an order for the shampoo and conditioner, really looking forward to trying them :)

Kelsea Nova: Glad to see a review of the fragrance free. That's the ONLY reason I was considering it. I have sensitive skin.

AuroraaHenrikke: I bought Function of Beauty fragrance and dye free shampoo and conditioner. After about a month I got so much pimples all around my face. Switched back to my old shampo and conditioner, and the pimples are all gone‍♀️

fetus time: for the volumize option in the hair quiz, would it be better to choose silicone free so there's less buildup on the scalp?

Heather Lynn: Sls is not damaging to your hair unless you overuse it. Build up can be very damaging to the hair. It forms a barrier over the cuticle that doesn't allow moisture through. Then your hair starts getting dry, frizzy, and brittle. And ALOT of emoilient ingredients can cause build up if you don't wash them out properly. Sls is very good at washing them out and removing build up

Rachel Reichert: Thank you for this review! I have seborrheic dermatitis also but I ordered fragrance and dyes. I may change my order now, but I was looking forward to smelling their fragrances. Such a bummer Lol

Katelyn Pratt: I love the idea of Function of Beauty but I’m nervous to try because I am on the curly curl method and not all their products are CGM.

Rebecca Anamu: Function of Beauty made my hair fall out more than usual. Like clumps! My hair dresser told me to stop using right away and once I switched to another brand my hair stopped falling out. Buyers beware!

Tracey White: Great information as I was just researching the FOB product line! As a off topic question, have you ever done a Clinique product review? Curious what you would have to say/think about their products. I enjoy your honesty

Sophia Larkin: They use menthol in their scalp hair goal specifically in the conditioner, which is the minty smell, it’s meant to sooth the scalp. I don’t think they are trying to be deceptive in regards to that if that’s a hair goal that you picked.

Kristina o: The ingredients are based on the goals so you had menthol because you picked soothe scalp so if you didn’t like the menthol pick a different goal

21hairgirl- Amber: Your makeup is so pretty and I love your blonde hair. Gorgeous! :). I think menthol is in it since you selected soothe scalp as a hair goal. My shampoo and conditioner don’t have menthol and I didn’t select that hair goal. I chose lengthen, strengthen, anti frizz, split ends and nourish.

lonneke Verberne: menthol is also used to stimulate the skin and also in case of an allergic reaction to make it calm.

Sydney Hallett: Hi Abbey, great video! I was watching some other reviews on this brand and a lot of reviews are saying some people are experiencing more hair loss than normal when they shower, do you think you have been experiencing this as well? I really want to order from them but now I am not sure.. Thank You!

sksksychopath: I have been considering buying products from function of beauty, but never really had the motivation. And after watching your video, I realized that I really need it, so I decided to actually purchase it. But I still have one issue to consider. I don't live in the states, I actually live way across the world. And I need to know if function of beauty ships worldwide...

spinfan1: I liked that you could also pick the color of the liquid and they put your name on the bottles. That was cool!

Entong C. Liu: Menthol does not sooth sensitive scalp skin, but create a cooling sensation for people with painfully tight scalp due to heavy hair. But for itchy scalp people, ketoconazole as an ingredient works wonders! maybe you should try the medicated ketoconazole shampoo? Though a lot of the over-the-counter ones have fragrance and SLS, but they worth a try!

Renée Soli: I have purchased the shampoo, conditioner and mask after watching Dr. Dray. I'm glad to see your positive review. My hair is silver, so I choose no color no scent. I was my hair twice weekly and since the products are so expensive I rotate other shampoos and conditioners. I only use the function if beauty once or twice a month. When I do use it I use all three product and let my hair dry naturally. A lot less frizz when using function of beauty. The next day I straighten my hair. The types of alcohol used may be fir thickening and a preservative.

Carina Hart: I bought Function of Beauty and got a fragrance in it, it was REALLY strong! Wish I got the fragrance free version.

boo morgado: Menthol is really good for stimulating hair growth, so maybe that’s why it was put in?

harrisonpamela40: Thanks for this really thorough and honest review. I’m looking forward to your update

Abbey Filiti: I just looked about getting some and for the big ones its $89 in was like Whaaa and I thought I will come to abbey and see what she says! I know I can always count on you ❤️ btw we have the same name and spelt the same way!!!

Katy Hunter: Have you looked into the Formulated Custom Shampoo and Conditioner as well? They are another online custom system for about the same price but noticed they have a much more in depth questionnaire to help you figure out your formula. If Function of Beauty doesn't work out for me I will be trying this if only for the reason of how much more customizable this brand seems. I have ordered Function of Beauty for myself and excited to try it for my hair, based on your video and how much you seem to enjoy it and how it works for your hair. I understand we have very different hair types but i feel everyone's hair goals are for healthier "happier" hair!

Kenna: That's interesting about the menthol! I'm allergic to mint, so I'm glad I changed my mind on buying this.

fairy changeling: Does menthol not count as a fragrance? If I brought something fragrance free I wouldn't expect it to smell. And surely if it had it as a "masking fragrance" it wouldn't be fragrance free. Edit- as soon as I wrote it, you said it. Please keep us updated. I have allergies so this is another product I wouldn't buy. I'm sad companies do this.

Shannon Bonas: How long does one bottle last you? What size do you use? I am so excited to give FOB a try!

C Justine: I think the thing with choosing more than 5 goals is that what shampoo and conditioner set in all of humanity would be able to fix all of those goals ALONE? haha it seems kind of impossible from a non doctor, non esthetician, non medical professional such as myself. Although, with everything people to do their hair, such as the brush they choose to use, the way they treat their wet hair, hair masks, etc., im sure all these goals could, eventually, become achievable :) (BUT I AM NO PROFESSIONAL!)

Carmen Pagnotta: I really don't understand why if you specifically requested fragrance free, they would still add menthol. Seems pretty sneaky if people are avoiding irritating ingredients.

Lindsey Kenemer: Bummer about the menthol in this. I tried the Kristen Ess fragrance free shampoo, conditioner, & detangler spray from Target & it’s decent. The shampoo is clarifying & I found it to leave my hair feeling a bit stripped, but maybe it’s just not a good fit for my hair type. Totally convinced on trying pureology next though!

YAM AII: Yea i made the same mistake,i bought all products thinking if I'm going fragrance free they will avoid fragrance in the oil serum and the treatment. I mean it's ok products but i would use them more if it was truly fragrance free. I hate peppermint and licorice so i feel ya. I know licorice is really good for the skin but that smell, i can't

Jessica Lopez: I experienced quite a bit of hair loss with function of beauty even though it left my hair feeling great and I’ve read a lot of other people have too. Have you???

Athena Avila: Just order this today this morning and will be getting it in 10 days. Can't wait too try it and see the results!

Kendra Dochterman: You should try and review Formulate. This brand has the same concept of Function of Beauty.

Julianne Aldana: You should try MixEasy next! :D it's customised face cleanser and moisturizer. They're also Vegan.

Omar Rasheed: anyone know the pros and cons for a shampoo with no colours? (colour-free shampoo/dye-free)

sum roach: OMG, you wash your hair once a week too. I thought that was mostly a natural hair thing, well whatever. You may not have natural hair but welcome to the club sis

Logan W: What’s the difference between washing your hair twice in a row in a week and just washing you hair twice a week but spaced out? It’s the same amount cleaning in the same time frame just ones back to back. At that point shouldn’t you just wash it every 3-4 days instead?

Lovely Briana: Speaking of hair goals .... your hair looks fabulous I love it!

Archaea Zero: I have VERY weak and VERY thin hair so I am considering it... Basically watching all of the videos I can about it to see what other people think of it.

Mari mari: I bought and used shampoon, conditioner and a mask for about a month. After the first few washes, i was happy and hair looked healthy. However, it then started to fall out a lot more them normal which i attributed to hormones and temporary hairloss. Few washes later and i got soooooo mich dandruf, it was like confeti on my hair. I went to visit family for a week and used other product there for a week and dandruf and hairloss disappered in a matter of days. On mu return, i decided to give Funcion of beauty another chance. Same thing all over again. Hair loss first and then crazy snow like dandruf. I threw out all the products streight away. Kerestase is a professional brand for a reason, this is just good marketing and trust me, not worth a penny.

Madalena Cobra: Hey i am so happy for this review! please update us later on the treatment! ;))

Steph C: I loved these products at first! My hair was so soft and shiny and easy to brush.. now my hair is falling out like crazy..I’m definitely not repurchasing..a lot of people have been having the same problem‍♀️

Fred Yeye: Abbey Yung, a beauty that makes men shy.

dOlli3cOutur3: Any updates?? I just put my order in but would like an honest opinion after a couple months. I only wash my hair once a week so I’m well aware of the amount of hair loss. I’m used to it

Rowan: This was very helpful thank you so much :)

Martha Hutchins: The menthol is only put in if you choose the "soothe scalp" option. I don't know why they use it, because I agree menthol can be irritating to the skin. The tingly sensation that happens can feel soothing but it is actually a reaction that your skin is having to the menthol and can lead to inflammation. I think their ingredients are great as long as you are careful not to choose the soothe scalp option.

Cherie Ozga: I wished you had the option for texture instead of volumn

Nina: Heyy! How do you compare Olaplex and Functionofbeauty? Which one do you feel is better?

caitlinduffy2: When it asks you to choose the fragrance it gives the option of lavender and it says 100% natural. When it says 100% natural does that mean it’s a safe fragrance to use?

Leanna Keightley: I am willing to bet that if you chose different hair goals that the menthol scent would not have been included. I am about to order the line. I will keep all posted.

Makayla H: Is it better to get it with or without the silicone formula?

lux: it would be great if instead of just giving you options to choose from they told you exactly what would be going into the product if you choose that option,

Nichole Ann: Did you choose silicon free or just left the silicons in it? Your the best love your videos

Jennifer Hedrick: Do u put any conditioner on your roots? Or do u only apply from the nape of your neck down? My hair has changed so much after having a baby & i need to figure out a new routine that works P.S.- i am new to your channel... I just found you yesterday & i have to say, you are awesome! I have really enjoyed the several hair/skin care videos i have watched of yours so far! Thank you for being sooo informative & detailed!

Sarah Chew: Would love other recs for haircare!

Kimberley down under: I have been using my daughters and I quite liked it but after a few weeks my scalp is a little irritable and itchy. Now I am waiting on mine in the mail which takes forever in oz. I hope my custom made is better ?

Soso41: I also using pureology hydrate and olaplex #3 and still dealing with dry hair. Im not sure what is going on. Between that and melasma is a constant battle.

Nicole Lamoureux: I have ordered different hair goals and the menthol in it is added when you choose sooth scalp. Anytime I did not have that as a hair goal it was not added.

Vis Rose: Which hair goals from their items helps with hair growth? My hair is super thin :(

Mahboobeh Maghami: Thanks for your video. Could you please hope me which one is good for hair serum or mask? Thanks

Caroline Sarwar: Your hair is absolutely beautiful. Does the serum contain fragrance? X

Rose: Function of beauty is one of my favorite btand ever. Just wondering what kkjd if highlihhts do you have so I know what to tell my stylist when I get ny hair done. I love your videos. ❤️❤️

Kivyyy_: This reminds me of Monat, she should do a review on that!!!

Queen Gamers Kat: Have you tried art naturals? I would love to watch that.
